Percy hopped out of the car, already heading for the steps to the mansion.
Andrew took a second to recollect himself before pushing his door open and catching up to Percy.
The mansion belonged to Peter, well Peter's mom Tristan Mclean. The huge movie star that made a bunch of action films. The marble steps led up to a grand front door.
Peter opened said doors, grinning as he saw Percy and Andrew. "Well, well. Look what the cat dragged in. Thalen got here a little while ago and told me to expect Andrew's costume to be this horrible pun." Speaking of puns, Peter was dressed as a race car diver with the name 'McQueen" scrawled on his chest. Lightning bolts went down his legs and arms.
"Oh, yeah I made him change." Percy waved it off with a smirk. "Don't you think this is much better than any pun?"
"Much, especially that dress." Peter grinned, eyes looking over to Andrew. The blank face Andrew wore was unreadable, but the clenching of his fists gave him away. Peter raised an eyebrow and Andrew shoved his hands into his pockets and looked away. "Anyways, as a heads up, Luca's here. She got brought by Drew, he showed up for some reason. They give you any trouble, just tell me and I'll throw them out."
"Thanks Peter." Percy gave the boy a hug then grabbed Andrew's hand and dragged him into the loud music and flashing lights of the mansion.
They passed Jacy, waiting by the door for Peter. She was wearing a Storm from Marvel costume. She gave Percy a look over, then looked over at Andrew with what he could have sworn was sympathy.
Leah ran into them next, her clockwork doll outfit was amazing and even somewhat worked. Her boyfriend was dressed like a Greek god, toga and all.
Percy pulled Andrew to the food and drinks, meeting Nikki by the punch. The girl was dressed in a button down and cargo shorts. "What are you wearing?" Percy laughed, looking at the hair Nikki had pulled up into what resembled a man-bun. She even had makeup on her face to look like five-o'clock shadow.
"It's it obvious? I'm a straight millennial guy." And that's all she said before walking off to go meet with a blonde girl Percy knew was Winona Solace. The blonde was dressed up as a nurse, a zombie nurse but still a nurse.
"Nikki is a handful." Percy sniggered, giving Andrew a drink before getting her own.
"She is your cousin." Andrew teased, smirking at his bestfriend. Percy hit him in the stomach lightly, grinning the whole time. "What did you expect?"
Percy rolled her eyes, about to make some snarky remark, but a blonde strolled up to them.
"Andy!" The shrill, fake voice of Luca pierced Percy's ears. The blonde placed a hand on Andrew's bicep and smiled up at him. "You look good tonight." She had shown up here in a Playboy Bunny costume.
A fucking Playboy Bunny outfit.
God, this girl was over the top.
"Luca, can you just leave me alone?" Andrew rolled his eyes and pulled his arm from her grasp.
A dark haired boy wrapped an arm around Luca's waist, his hair was cut short in the back but the front was longer and curled towards his forehead. His costume was a shirtless doctor. Original. His dark eyes scanned Percy up and down, every curve and contour that dress showed.
Andrew saw red, this guy . . . Oh, he never had liked this guy. Drew Tanka.
Percy growled as much. "Both of you leave us alone." She spat, turning away from the pair and grabbing Andrew on her way.
"But darling," Drew grabbed Percy's waist, deliberately making the fabric of her dress pull up a bit. "Wouldn't you like to have some fun tonight. I know for a fact this bore isn't going to treat you how you deserve." He made to hold Percy's chin, but the girl stomped down on his foot and hooked her leg behind his knee before tripping him.
"Don't touch me." She growled.
Drew had the audacity to grin as he wiped at his mouth and winked. "It's okay, I like it rough."
"You. Are. Sick." Percy spat.
Andrew wrapped his arm around her waist and ushered her away from where Luca was seething and Drew was smirking.
"I can't stand those two." Percy growled again, trying to calm the boiling of her blood. Andrew nodded, stopping in a small alcove at the far wall of the entry hall. Kids filled the whole place, sweaty bodies that desperately needed dancing lessons.
"Same here Seaweed Brain." Andrew sighed as he leaned against the wall.
Percy leaned into him, her head tucked into his neck and his arms around her. "I just can't wait until Peter makes all these guys leave and it's just our group here." Because that's what happened every year. The party would end for almost everyone at midnight. Then, their friend group stayed over for the night and went until dawn just playing stupid games and being kids again.
"Same here."
With a sigh Percy pulled out of Andrew's arms, holding onto his hand and dragging him to the dance floor. Not many people knew that Andrew could actually dance. Percy being the only one that could convince him to do more than a shimmy. He had taught Percy, several bruised feet later Percy could manage herself just fine.
"Let's dance." Percy swayed her hips to the song. Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time by Panic! At The Disco. "Come on, Wise Guy." She grabbed his hands and made him start to move. She wanted to be distracted, take her mind off it all and get Drew's smirk from her memory.
"Ugh, there's so many people though. You know I never dance at these parties." Andrew pleaded, keeping his eyes locked to her face so he wouldn't stare at the movement of her hips. "Percy!" He scolded as she rolled her body and spun around.
"If you don't dance with me right now, I'll find someone who will." She teased, pulling at the undone collar of his shirt. "Come on." Her green eyes pulled him in, and he clamped his hands on Percy's waist. The girl grinned before Andrew moved and started to loosen up.
They were a sight.
More than just the weird grinding shit the others were doing. This was actually dancing, fast paced and skilled.
Eyes popped out their heads as people noticed just who was dancing like that.
Andrew Chase, top of the class, tutor, and all around teacher's pet. He was dancing with Percy Jackson, his bestfriend since elementary. And it was practically sinful.
The others still danced, but more and more stopped to watch the show of actual dancing skill.
They didn't know Andrew had been in dancing lessons since he was five, only stopping the last two years because of classes and stress levels. They didn't know that both of them had forgotten that others even existed in the world, just letting the music take them where it willed.
Peter was on the edge of the circle that had formed around them. His grin was practically feline. Jacy was beside him, red as she waved her hand to cool her face. Leah was another grinning face, her boyfriend just shaking his head. Nikki was blinking, Winona slowly bring up her hand to cover Nikki's eyes.
Two other people watching were red as tomatoes, friends of Percy's and Andrew's. Hank and Francesca. Wearing matching cat outfits.
The song started to end, and Andrew finished the dance by lifting Percy up, her wrapping her legs around his waist, and dipping her. His face tucked into the space between her neck and shoulder, before slowly lowering her down to her feet.
He blinked, looking around. His face went alight, his throat bobbing as he swallowed.
Peter started the cheering, others joining in. Andrew trained his eyes on the floor as he started to back up. Percy stopped him with a hand on his arm. "Where do you think you're going? We still have a lot of time left and I love this song." The song being Stiches by Shawn Mendes.
The crowd had dispersed. But Andrew was still hesitant.
"Come on, Wise Guy." The smile on Percy's face was enough to get Andrew back into the crowd.
