Treatment couch

Sadhvi's POV

It has been a week since Ms.Harpreet Singh's regular treatment sessions and from the day before yesterday onwards she was coming alternately for her the same.

Her back ache is much better now and we have progressed our treatment to a good level.

Her pain was because of muscle tightness not what she suspected-arthritic changes in her spine. Patients and their self diagnosis.

We have progressed a lot too in the past week.

If I am being honest she was trying very hard to walk past the doctor-patient relationship.

And I gave in too to some extent but I was still guarded because you never know. They are just patients, one of your acquaintances no permanent people in your life.

They are here for treatment and once they are good to go they go, you are the only constant who stay and look out of the window wondering whether they are okay.

Besides we see a lot of patients and bond some or little.

Harpreet aunty said she will be joining my Pilates classes soon once her back problem is completely taken care of.

She likes spending time here, the staff is friendly and the environment here is very joyous. She like seeing pregnant women talking and laughing, sharing their baby talks.

From the past week she has been talking with me and Rajveen very much like a friend.

And if I am saying my guards are still up this doesn't mean I don't regard her as my friend, I too am fond of her.
She is very jolly and always has one of those food bags in her bag.

Watching me looking at the clock, Rajveen asked, "Harpreet ji?"

I nodded,
"She will be here anytime now"

"She is very friendly and I still can't believe they haven't asked for discount like other references"

I smiled, "I am still billing them on friends and family discount"

"That's your choice but they never asked for it that's my point"

Washing hands after eating we both picked our lunch boxes and exited the common room, the interns were having lunch on the yoga floor.

I entered my cabin and kept my lunch boxes in my bag and Rajveen stood leaning against my cabin's door frame,
"Don't you think she is a little suspicious"

I looked at her straight in the eye, "Mai keh ri aan Ruksaar unki nazar meri dukaan pr haigi"
(a dialogue from Kabhi Khushi kabhi gham)

She laughed, "No, I was saying that because yesterday she was asking me something about you being in a relationship or not"

I blinked at her.

And just when I was about to buzz her curiosity off the lift door opened and we turned to greet Harpreet aunty.

.

.

With Harpreet Aunty on the treatment couch and me standing beside it counting her holds of the exercises, the clock stuck 2:55 in the afternoon.

I had tied half kg weight cuffs around her ankles and she was raising her alternate legs with ten seconds hold.

In between the exercises where I was to keep her counts she asked,
"You are not dating are you?"

I blinked, Rajveen was right.

"No"
I said with no reaction and continued my counting

"My nephew is coming to pick me today"

I nodded.

I was internally hoping for my suspicions to be wrong. She was too cute for me to doubt her.

"He is your sister's boss"

I nodded. Aunty playing cupid?

She came to a halt and sitting up straight she turned to look at me. She was about to say something when the bed adjacent to her's ringed.

I waited for few seconds for an intern to attend. And turned to look at her to continue

"You are a good girl, Sadhvi."
Aunty squeezed my hands a little and I held my breath

"I asked my nephew to come pick me up today because I wanted you to meet him. After his father he is who own's fifty percent of the Corporate firm and is very good looking, tall and is 31 years old. You guys will look good together."

I pursed my lips and said,
"I don't know aunty, I don't take decisions like that. You need to ask my parents."

She beamed and cupped one cheek of mine,
"I was expecting that answer. I will ask your parents too but today I want you to say atleast a hello to him and in my next visit, if you like him we will take this further. How does that sound?"

I moved my head in a weird manner that even I wasn't sure what that meant.

"Is that a yes or a no?" she asked laughing

I laughed a little too, "Okay"

And after applying electrodes for her treatment on her back I went inside to text both Rajveen and my mother.

Mom said - just meet him, don't speak too much. I'll talk to your father."

Rajveen said- See. Told you. Say yes! Yes!

Like Harpreet aunty said, her nephew came to pick her up, the receptionist called my desk when he arrived and I carrying Aunty's handbag trailed behind her.

Once the man came into my view my eyes shined.

He was beautiful. Very beautiful.

A full grown man. From head to toe he was edible.

Tan face, clean shaved but sharp nose and was he was looking at both of us.

Approaching him, aunty once turned to gauge my reaction to which I smiled looking at her.

"Sadhvi, Avesh and Avesh, Sadhvi"
she did the most required introduction and we both shake hands

"So you are the infamous Sadhvi" he smiled at me,

"Bua can't stop talking about you, what treatment are you giving her?"

He asked joking taking his Bua's bag from me

I laughed, "Nothing just salted peanuts and little hearts, that's it"

This time all three of us laughed,
"Oh been there, done that" he laughed patting aunty's hand bag said,
"This magic box is stuffed with good stuff"

We all laughed once again and they left.

There wasn't something to deny about the fact Avesh, was perfect for me.

Even our age gap was ideal for me.

Till I reached home Papa ji had a background check run on them already and me joining them on the dinner table find us discussing the possibilities of us being a suitable match.

Little did I know there was something missing... My destiny wasn't something easy to play with.

Five days past our introduction and one parents meeting, found me standing in front of my clinic with my arms crossed in front of my chest.

A blank expression I staring at the man I was supposed to marry and my sister who was hiding behind him, with shameful eyes.
