Chapter 10: Friday, After Class
After Toast's class has ended, he met up with Ghost in the hallway where they had agreed to meet before. Toast is walking as slow as possible, and when Ghost looks over at him he can see how scared Toast is. So, for the third time that day, Ghost tried to provide some comfort by taking a hold of his hand. He noticed before that when he did little things like this, Toast seemed to calm, even if it was just by a little.
Eventually, the two arrived to the classroom where one of the teachers stood outside, waiting for them. "Go in an sit down." They instructed, waiting outside still-probably for the other students that had yet to come. Ghost walked in ahead of Toast, letting his hand go as Toast followed behind, sitting next to each other. The two were the first kids to arrive.
They sat in silence for a few minutes before another kid arrived, sneering at them as he walked in. He took a seat behind Toast, who chewed nervously on his lip. He took another breath, looking over at Ghost, who smiled assuringly at him. He gave a smile back, and suddenly felt something hit his head.
He whirled around to look, to find the boy behind him looking ahead, bored. He brushed it off, looking back ahead and staying quiet. He was hit again, and this time he saw the boy, who had flicked him, then tried to act like it wasn't him. The boy laughed, while Toast quietly asked him to stop.
"If I'm gonna be stuck in here, I'm gonna find some way to entertain myself." The kid shrugged. "What are you even in here for anyways? Aren't you one of the good kids?" He glared, flicking Toast again.
"Does that matter? I told you to stop flicking me." Toast snapped back. The boy scoffed.
"Yeah, and I didn't listen." He leaned forward to flick him again, when suddenly a hand grabbed his wrist.
"Touch him again. I dare you." Ghost stared the boy down; he seemed shocked that anyone would stand up to him. A grin slowly formed on his face, and he snickered as he reached his other hand up to flick Toast again, clearly not thinking Ghost would do anything.
Toast thinks it was Ghost who threw the first punch, but after that, a lot happened. Both Ghost and the boy were throwing punches, cursing and trying to force the other back. He saw the other boy throw an especially hard punch that knocked Ghost back into a chair, and then he wasn't sure what happened next. It had seemed like the only thing to do at the time, he guessed, but his fist had collided with the boy's cheek, and now he was cursing and shouting at Toast.
Then Toast felt him punch back. He fell back, unprepared for the impact, and the boy was about to throw another punch when suddenly Ghost was in front of him, taking the hit meant for Toast. During all the commotion, the three of them had been loud enough that the teacher heard.
They rushed into the room, shouting at them. "That's enough! All of you, come with me to the office, now."
Toast froze. He was on the verge of panic, breathing becoming shallow as he knew there was no way out of this. His parents were going to hear that he got into a fight, and it didn't matter what the cause of it was. He followed the teacher along with Ghost and the other boy silently, trailing behind them both. Ghost noticed, and fell back to walk next to him, grabbing his hand and pulling Toast's attention to him.
"Are you okay?" He looked into Toast's eyes worriedly, examining his cheek that was beginning to bruise. Toast noticed Ghost had bruises in many different spots, having taken more hits than him. "I'm sorry I started all of this.. If we explain what happened, I'm sure everything will work out alright. I'm still, so sorry Johnny. This wouldn't have happened if it weren't for me."
"It's not your fault." Toast quickly stopped him, looking at him. "I chose to skip with you, and you didn't think we'd be caught. The fight started with the other kid.. you tried to stand up for me." He smiled a little. "So, thank you."
Ghost flushed, flashing a small grin to Toast as he leaned over to kiss his purple cheek. "Of course. I hope your cheek doesn't hurt too much.."
"It already feels better." Toast blushed dark, averting his gaze back to the teacher ahead as they followed them. "Let's just hope we can explain the situation..."
Hello again! I've decided to update this book every day, since that seems to be what people want, and because I've already nearly finished the story, so I have all of my extra chapters backed up and won't get stressed out over it.
I actually have.. a question, for everyone.
So, I know so far I've mostly just written about Ghost and Toast. But I was thinking, and I miigghhtt try something different, once these stories are over.. I wanted to ask if maybe you guys would read it if I wrote a book for Gavin and Jimmy?
I have the idea for it, and it's a bit different. Like these books, it will be an AU but... not an AU I think anyone would expect from these two haha. I don't know if anyone would really like it since it's so different, but I was thinking about an alternate universe where the two of them are detectives, rather than the bad guys.
I dunno, I thought the idea was pretty cool myself but maybe not everyone would want to see that? I just wanted to maybe give it a shot, try writing something other than Ghost and Toast now. ^•^
Please let me know what you think! I hope that you enjoyed this chapter. Bye!-Bob
