Lesson 48
"The worst part about being strong, is that no one ever asks if you're ok."
____________________________________
The twelve years old Hibari Kyouya is a carnivore. The best of the best and the one at the top of the foodchain.
He is strong and ruthless. He will not tolerate any offenders who dare break the sacred rule of Namimori.
Because of this, he is feared by children and adults alike and was left alone. Not that he minded much since it's a waste of time to associate himself with those useless herbivores.
He is an independent man that doesn't need any help from a herbivore. Any form of weakness was hidden from the public eye and not shown to the world.
Although he likes being left alone, somehow, somewhere deep within him, he longed for company. It surprised Hibari but nevertheless, he accepted that fact. That doesn't mean he would go actively search for someone. He hates crowds, first and foremost.
But, being strong does have its advantages. And that could be proven when he accidently hurt himself while taking down a yakuza group that had settled in his territory.
He clicked his tongue in irritation, angry at himself for being careless.
Once he got home, he scoured for the first aid kit and started to patch himself up. After he was done, he quickly went to sleep.
The next morning, when he woke up, he was greeted by the pain going through his body, and the lack of energy and strength.
Ignoring it all, he pushed himself to get dressed and went to school to do his usual routine.
It turns out, not cleaning those wounds properly meant infections. And damn was that one nasty infections he had. Not only does it hurt, it also prevented him from doing his routine properly.
Huffing irritably, he left the school and walked home. Along the way, he glared at every living being that was in vicinity.
Out of nowhere, a teenager or herbivore, as quoted by the skylark, appeared. The herbivore seemed startled to see him and was about to run away when he noticed something.
His eyes were instantly filled with worry as he crouched down until he was eye-level to the twelve year old. "Are you ok?" he asked softly.
Before Hibari could answer (threaten to be exact) him, the teen shook his head and suddenly stood up. "No. Of course you're not," he muttered.
In a flash, he hoisted Hibari up into his arms and ran full speed down the road.
Hibari tried to struggle but his strenth and energy had critically reached the lowest point. Instead, he growled in annoyance, which was swiftly ignored by the teenager.
The teenager entered a house and without a pause, put down Hibari in a room before darting out and returned with first aid kit and a bowl of water with him.
He quickly took off Hibari's shirt and winced a little when he saw blood seeping through the bandages. Carefully, he peeled them off, earning a quiet hiss from Hibari, and cleaned and applied the disinfectant on the wounds properly.
After cleaning and putting more disinfectant on other wounds, he expertly bandaged Hibari up, careful not to aggravate the wounds any further.
Once he was done, he puts away all the disinfectant back into the first aid kit, threw out some cottons and bandages soaked in blood and placed the bowl in the sink before coming back to see Hibari in his shirt again.
Both of them sat there in silence.
"...who are you." Demanded Hibari.
"Kusakabe,"was the teen's short reply.
Hibari nodded a little before a grin appeared on his face. Looking at the teen, Hibarl pointed at him and said, "You'll be my second-in-command from now on," with a hint of childish glee in his voice.
Kusakabe only stared before he too, broke into a smile and bowed a little. "As you wish, Kyo-san."
And that was how the skylark met the first person who cared him.
