- Chapter 30 -

I tuck the jacket around Nathan's arm as he stares at me. Those green eyes making me weak in the knees. My body shivers as he smiles. This was one of those perfect moments that I never wanted to end. I pulled the jacket tighter as I continue to look at him before pulling it just a little too tight. He contorts his face as if he was a child that was ready to throw a fit as he glares down at me.

"Sorry," I mumbled. My fingers were working on buttoning up his jacket. My mothers wedding was tomorrow and today Nathan and I were getting his tux fitted so that it looked the best it could for the wedding.

It felt weird to finally have someone in my life I could count on like Nathan. Making it official had been the best thing we had ever done, my heart was so filled with love for him. Everyday seemed brighter than the last, but unfortunately one thing was still missing.

The Leprechaun.

I shook my head as I pulled away from the jacket on Nathan's body. It actually fit him perfectly, there was no alteration that were needed. Same with the dark grey pants he wore. I tried my best to smile at him, but he must have been able to tell I was thinking about Ailis.

"I'm sorry sweetie," He leaned down and kissed me on the forehead. Pulling away he begin to take off the jacket neatly hanging it up on the hanger as he walked around the corner and into the dressing room.

I was alone, left to be with my thoughts while Nathan changed out of his super nice clothes, back into his regular outfit. A pair of cargo shorts and a nice tee shirt.

I glanced up at the mirror, looking for anything that would remind me of the tiny creature that had taken over that last couple of months of my life. Though the months had gone by so quickly, they seemed to drag at the same time. We were fully invested in school now, and things just seemed to have gone back to normal though my heart was missing such a large piece.

Nathan had been wonderful at trying to help me through the grieving process of losing such a wonderful friend. I chuckled lightly at his reaction when I had explained to him why I had to leave on our first date. He smacked Ailis on top of the head when he found this out. These were the memories that would help me continue to go onward with my life, but it still sucked to not have his influence with me at all times.

I could hear Nathan pulling his shirt off in the dressing room as he hit his elbow on the wall next to him.

"Damn, this small dressing room!" He curses as I imagine he begins rubbing his elbow. I let out a slight chuckle as my eyes drift back over to the mirror in front of me. My brown hair was slightly messy, but my eyes were full of life. For the first time in a while, my eyes actually seemed to make sense. The green brighter than they had been and I had a reason for that. Nathan.

"You're a dork," I muttered fiddling with my phone waiting for Nathan to hurry up and finish. Rolling my eyes at how slow he actually was when it came to changing his clothes.

Scrolling through Facebook my eyes begin to drift. They were growing heavier by the second and my body seemed like it was frozen in the position I was in. I tried to move. I tried to call out but everything felt like a dream. Just like the first night I had met Ailis. My heart begin to race as I thought about the tiny creature. I wanted to see him but not in this very moment. I mentally cursed myself for thinking about him.

Things begin to fade around me as a tingling sensation begins to filter through my body. I'd been through this before but it didn't make this any easier. When I opened my eyes I would be somewhere completely new and I had no way of telling where that would be.

"Emerson, what is going on?" I hear Nathan shout from inside the dressing room. My heart begins to race. Was he coming too? I knew Ailis had gotten permission for Nathan to know about him as well, but that didn't mean Nathan just became part of the project did it? I tried to open my mouth to scream to Nathan that it was all going to be alright, but my voice was missing. My lips were parted and I tried to force the words out but nothing would ever follow my attempts.

I gripped my phone tighter as I allowed the magic to just take hold of me. That always seemed to rush the process slightly. I smiled at the idea of seeing Ailis once again. Maybe that would make all of this worth it. Nathan would see Ailis and then he would understand. It wasn't like I had any control anyways.

My thoughts continued to wander as my heart started to slow down as well. Nathan shouted a few other things towards me but they were all muffled in the darkness now. The magic was finally strong enough to pull us both to the other dimension. My brain was trying to calculate how many gold necklaces they must have used to make this work. Two people to travel across the dimensions to a very specific location. They had to have enough to send us home as well. My body trembled with the thought of us never making it home again. Trying to remove those thoughts from my head I allowed the magic to do it's job. Finally everything faded away completely and it was like I was floating in my own time and space.

I knew Nathan would be freaking out, but it really wasn't that bad if you knew how to just stay calm. I'm sure the magic liked it better than way as well.

Finally things begin to fade back to life. Lights were showing through the darkness, though it was only one large bright one. I'm sure on the journey home they would allow Nathan and I to be together. My mind worried about how he was handling all of this.

I watched the bright light carefully until it became all too bright too focus on. My mind knew where we were. The place that had most terrified me the first time I had gone anywhere like this. Actually the only other time I had gone anywhere like this. We were going to be meeting with the council. I knew they would terrify Nathan but if they allowed me to hold his hand and show him it was okay that would be better. Maybe they wouldn't care though.

I could hear their booming voices now as they chattered about other things. I couldn't quite make out what they were saying but it felt like there were a lot more people there than the last time. If you could call them people. I braced myself for the darkness to fade fully as I could feel my feet were on the ground. My body wasn't as numb as before so I tried my best to stand up. I didn't want to fall on my butt when I wasn't being supported anymore by the magic. It took me a little longer than normal but finally I was able to stretch my body just enough that I felt like I wouldn't tumble. I glanced down at what I was wearing, the material hugging my skin felt very different from what It was when we left the alteration shop.

The material billowed as if it was a beautiful ball gown. I ran my fingers across the material feeling all the tiny crystals that covered the surface. My heart was racing. They had transformed my clothes into something like no other thing I've ever seen. I shook my head to realize my long hair didn't hang around my shoulders anymore. Reaching my hand up I was able to make out the tightly rolled bun on the top of my head. They had completely changed my entire appearance.

My heart was filled with joy once again, as soon as I spot the Leprechaun I had missed so dearly the last couple of day dancing on the other side of the room. This time the courtroom wasn't as scary as the first. The fog still floated softly against he ground but the walls were draped in purple curtains, the candles were lit with warm fire and there were tables covered with delicious looking food.

I turn to find Nathan. He was cowering next to me as he took in everything that was going on around him. The council still sat high and mighty in their chairs that took up the outside of the room.

"Emerson, Nathan... welcome," The same booming voice from when I'd come here for Ailis's check up echoed through the air. I felt Nathan flinch as he ducked waiting for something to fall from the ceiling and smash him. I took his hand squeezing it gently before mustering up just enough voice to respond.

"Thank you, from the both of us," I shouted, loud enough for the voice to hear me. I wasn't sure which creature it was but I knew they all had heard me when each and everyone of their heads nod towards me. Smiles covered everyone faces as they danced.

"Emerson!" Ailis shouted as he hopped along the dance floor towards Nathan and I. Nathan props himself up against one of the tables next to us. I chuckled lightly as I remember how it felt the first time I was whisked away without knowing it was going to happen.

"Ailis, I'm so glad to see you!" I shouted as I crouched down, my dress pillowing beside me as the Leprechaun throws his arms around my neck, they barely touched in the back as mine completely engulfed him in a large hug. He smiled as he pinched the back of my neck. I pushed him away rubbing at the spot he had gotten me.

"Gotcha!" He wiggles his finger in the air as he taps his tiny shoe against the ground. I rolled my eyes taking in the rest of the characters around the room. There were fairies, other Leprechauns and many other beings that I wasn't quite sure what they were considered. Some were short while others were tall. Ailis was one of the shortest though and it added to his cute quirks.

"Are you so excited to be done with the assignment?" I question him. We wonder over to one of the round tables in the middle of the room. Ailis held my hand as I carried him in the direction. Taking a seat Nathan sat next to me as we sat Ailis on top of the table.

"Yes," He nodded taking a moment to look around the room. I could sense some hesitancy in his voice and I was starting to worry.

"You did graduate right?" I pondered the chances that he would have failed. All the things we messed up. It'd been a wild two months together and I was worried I messed things up for him. If he didn't graduate this time then he was never going to. Nathan was too focused on everything else to realize what was going on.

"Yes, of course I did," Ailis spoke slowly as if he was focused on making sure I understood every single word he said. I looked at him confused, as he was still acting awfully fishy. Ailis should be celebrating, he had finally passed the assignment that was holding him back all this time.

"Well, then what is the problem?" My eyes wander over him as I wait patiently for him to answer.

"I'm going to miss you," As the words left his lips a small tear rolled down the side of his cheek.
