- Chapter 18 -

That morning I woke up to the sound of my mother and sister getting ready for a morning run. This hurt. My body aching as I listen to the two of them laughing downstairs. This was ridiculous. Lily didn't even like running. I pulled my phone off of the charger checking to see if I had any messages. Just one from Nathan.

'Good morning beautiful, have fun today with your sister and I can't wait to hear all about it,'

His text was so sweet and for a second all of my problems had drifted away. It felt like everything was going to be okay. Until I heard the girls laughing downstairs once again. Grabbing my pillow from under my head I pulled it over my face holding it against my skin as I let out a muffled groan.

I pulled the pillow away when I heard something shuffling across my bed. Was Ailis here?

"Waaat is wrong witcha dis mornin'? a dainty flower got yer in 'ames?" Ailis words were muffled as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. I nodded my head. Lily was named after a flower but she wasn't soft and sweet like one. She was like a rose. Perfect until you get below the surface, sharp thorns sticking out to rip your favorite dress.

I pulled the sheets back jumping out of bed. Lily and my mother were gone and now was my time to search her room for any other clothes she might be holding back. I was going to get all of my clothes back and I was going to make sure she didn't leave with any of them when she finally head back to her father's house.

"Are you coming?" I question as I pull on some sweatpants. Ailis nods his head jumping off the bed as he runs across the floor towards me. I bend over to pick him up allowing him to sit on my shoulder as we head across the hallway towards the guest room.

"Ye sure we shud be doin' dis?" I nodded my head nearly knocking him off. He grabs my hair to help hold himself up.

"Of course, she has taken way too many of my clothes," I knew I was acting ridiculous but at this point I didn't care. There was nothing she could do to make this up to me. I was tired and fed up with always having to steal my clothes back.

"Cool," Ailis mutters. I close the door to her room behind me as I peek around to see if she had moved anything. I knew since Lily didn't run often she wouldn't last very long and they would be back soon. It could be anywhere from ten minutes to thirty minutes. I needed to act quickly. I began tearing through her suitcase finding a total of four shirts that were mine that she hadn't given back yet. I let out a low growl as Ailis searches around the room as well. I wasn't sure what he was looking for since he had no clue what clothes I had before.

Once I finished the first suitcase I began looking through the next one, finding a pair of shoes that were mind. How could she get away with stealing these many things from me, and was she doing the same thing to all of her friends or was it just a sisterly thing?

"Are you kidding me," I mumbled to myself placing all my items in a pile.

"Are any av dees golden necklaces yers?" Ailis points at all the necklaces I had noticed last night. I'd never busted her stealing any of my jewelry but I knew I didn't own very many to begin with. I saunter over towards the desk looking over everything.

"You need gold don't you?" I shrug my shoulders picking up a few of the necklaces. I hear the door open downstairs meaning the two girls were home.Soon afterwards a few giggles came as the girls grab themselves a drink of water from the kitchen. Damn, I had hoped they would be gone longer.

"I'm a leprechaun, I always need gauld," Ailis mumbled as he bit at the nails on his fingers. I rolled my eyes before slipping a few of the necklaces into my pockets and grabbing my pile of clothes. Running back to my room I quickly hid the clothes and jewelry before jumping in the shower as If I had been there the entire time. I felt myself breathing heavy, the water just barely warming up when someone knocks on the door.

"Are you almost done in there? We need to shower as well," It was my mother's voice. I quickly splash the water on my face so that It looks like I've been in here for a while.

"Yeah I will be out in just a minute," I mumble. My mother must have left because I never heard a response from her. My heart was pounding on the inside of my chest as I turn the water off. Grabbing the towel and wrapping it around me I glance in the mirror. My makeup was halfway down my face and my hair only slightly wet. I knew if I didn't take care of it soon it would dry funky.

"I'm out," I shout loud enough for everyone in the house to hear. Ailis covers his ears as she teases me. Placing his finger up to his lips he shushes me.

I glare at him before quickly heading into my bedroom to get changed. I needed to hide the clothes in a better spot so my sister wouldn't find them. I pulled the necklaces that were now tangled out of the pocket of the pants I had put them in. I wasn't sure what I was doing with these. I didn't mean to steal them but the last minute anger had told me I needed to. I could feel the guilt rising in my chest as I thought about returning them too her. How would I explain myself though?

Once I was fully dressed I head downstairs to get some breakfast. I still needed nutrients to make it through the rest of the day. I couldn't just hide from my sister forever. Especially when she was only her for the weekend. I trudge carefully as I enter the kitchen grabbing a bowl for my cereal.

"Why didn't you come on our run this morning?" Lily enters the kitchen. I set the bowl carefully on the counter before turning to look at her. She was dressed in a matching workout suit. I chuckled to myself slightly. Of course she was the kind of girl who wore matching running wear. I rolled my eyes leaning against the table. My stomach roaring from the lack of dinner I had last night.

"Nobody woke me up," I griped as if it was their fault. I applaud myself for throwing the blame on them. Of course I would have went if somebody would have given me the chance too.

"We tried to, you must sleep with headphones in or something because you were passed out," I shot her a glare as I watched her close the distance between us. What did she mean they tried? "Anyways, I had a question for you," My heart sank as soon as she threw that in there. Why would she have a question for me, did she want to hang out because honestly I wasn't in the mood.

"Let's hear it," I piped waiting for her to answer. Lily was one for dramatics, always leaving long pauses before she spoke or popping her hip to look more sassy. She must have gotten this from her father.

"Have you seen my golden necklace? I had one with a pearl in it and it seems to be missing. I'm pretty sure I brought it cause I remember laying it out on my dresser last night," She shrugged her shoulders before scratching her head.

"Have you tried looking at the floor in front of your dresser?" I question just trying to buy myself some time. I could feel my palms growing sweaty as I thought about the necklace. That was the very same one that I had pocketed this morning and given to Ailis to change into magic. I had thought she wouldn't miss it, since she had stolen so many of my things. It looks like I must have grabbed the wrong one.

"My grandmother got it for me, it's really important to me," She muttered kicking at the kitchen floor with her socks.

"I'm sorry, I haven't seen it," I mumbled before rummaging through the cupboards for anything to eat. I cursed under my breath wishing that the girls had still be on their run. I wanted to collapse in a heap of food and just consume until my body started to scream at me.

Why was it that everytime Lily seemed to come around I would suddenly never have a chance to eat anything?

"Are you sure you haven't seen it? Last night you were pretty mad at me for stealing all your clothes, I just want to make sure you weren't trying to get back at me, if you are you can tell me. It's not funny and I understand that," Lily seemed like she was grasping for straws as she spoke, her hand thumping her thigh to the tune of a song. I bet she was making the whole thing up, but for some reason she knew exactly what to say to make my stomach turn. I could feel my head start pounding as I wanted to just run away and get away from this conversation. My mother would be out of the shower soon and she would be able to keep Lily company for the rest of her trip.

"No, I haven't seen your necklaces, why would I steal your necklaces?" I question as I start inching my way out of the kitchen. I didn't need breakfast anymore as it felt like I was going to throw up. My nerves and adrenaline rushing through my body.

"Because I've been such a horrible sister your entire life, always stealing your clothes, honestly you just are luckier than me," She shrugs her shoulders watching me carefully as I try to exit the room.

"What do you mean I'm luckier than you?" Was this a trap? Did she already know I had stolen her necklace and she was just trying to guilt trip me into telling her? I wasn't going to mess around with her psychological warfare.

"You get everything you want, my father ended up have more kids and here you were living the dream as an only child, while I was running around with five year olds. They got all of the attention I was always just cast aside. The only necklace I really care about it the one that my grandmother had given me, it's the only thing I have that ties me to her and to our family," She glanced down at the floor as she enters the kitchen further.

"Anyways, just let me know if you see it, again I'm sorry for stealing your clothes all the time," She grabbed her own bowl before grabbing the bag of cereal I had originally placed on the counter.

I swallowed the lump that was in my throat before turning to run up the stairs. How was I supposed to sneak it back in her room without her knowing that I had stolen her necklace?

"Ailis," I whisper as I burst through the doors into my bedroom. He pops his head out from under my bed as he lays on his back fiddling with something. "What are you doing?" I question. He sticks his hand out showing the pearl that was in the necklace I had stolen.

"I'm polishin her up," He mutters before spitting on it and rubbing it away with his sleeve. "I'm going to sell it for some magic,"

"Crap!" I shout a little louder than I had meant to before I bend forward whispering once again. "Does this mean you always used the gold from the necklaces?" My heart was racing as I wait for his response.

"Yep,"
