Our Constellation
Okay so I was thinking the other day
We are so into our star sign and what not,, but where do we actually find our star in the night sky 🌌 🤔
- so I did a little research -
( sorry for the bad quality pictures 🙈 it's the best I could find 😫 but nonetheless )
Here's how to find our Leo Constellation :
So basically all of us probably know Orion's belt - those 3 little stars in a line with the same small distance apart - it's the most well known constellation in the night sky.
When you are looking at Orion's belt you will see it's surrounded by four stars, making Orion's feet and shoulders.
The lower right star is the bright blue star Rigel.
The top left star is the red giant Betelgeuse.
Starting at Rigel, going through the middle belt star, onto Betelgeuse and continue in this line will bring you to two stars of equal brightness.
These are Castor and Pollux, the stars that make up Gemini.
If you gaze a bit towards the left of these stars you will hit a backward question mark followed by a triangle.
This is the stately Leo !
The bright star at the end of Leo's tail is Denebola, which means "the tail".
If you can't find Gemini, you can always use the Big Dipper to assist you.
But first you should find out in what position the Big Dipper is, because it varies depending on the season.
Use the two pointer stars (that is aligned showing you towards the North Star which is also part of the Little Dipper)
Only this time trace them away from the North Star in the opposite direction.
These two stars will guide you towards the triangular part of Leo.
And as you can see, you can also find Gemini from there on out.
If you guys get a chance for star gazing one night try this !
And let me know if you also found our precious Leo 🦁 💕
