Going Through The Vortex

I held onto Spike as we floated through the vortex, travelling to this alternate dimension. I gotta say, floating through a vortex wasn't nauseating, it was interesting to say the least. We were floating for several minutes. At least, that's what it felt like. We could see the light at the end of this vortex. It must've been the other dimension. Spike somehow knew, and jumped out of my arms, and went into the light. I decided to go in with him, straight in. A few seconds later, I landed on a floor. I groaned, flat on the floor. My legs weren't broken. The vortex up above me then closed. "That's strange, I didn't expect a dog to come out of the vortex..." said a familiar voice, "are you sure you cast the right spell Shini?" It was Miwa's voice. "Yes Senpai, I did," said Miwa's old friend, Shinigami. "Really, cuz this guy looks like something out of Halo!" criticized Miwa. "Could be a turtle, I mean, his stature and 3 fingers give it away, don't you think?" said Shini.

Miwa was holding Spike, and the dog was wagging his tail, sniffing her. She couldn't help but laugh. "Are you okay?" said another woman. I could recognize that voice from anywhere. She put her hand on my shoulder, trying to see if I was okay. Her touch was soft. "Yeah, I'm alright," I said, my voice sounding low. I then got up, my legs wobbling. I looked at the beautiful woman before me. It was Twilight. How could I forget her dark blue hair with purple and pink streaks, her violet eyes, those glasses she wore, and her Batgirl t-shirt, which was her favorite shirt. I didn't care if this was her doppelganger. I found her again. I then took off my helmet, revealing my face, and my torn mask. I looked at her. "Looks like your spell worked Shini," said Miwa. The Other Twilight looked at me. "Hello there," I said, smiling sheepishly. "Hi..." Twilight said in disbelief.

"I'm going to tell Splinter and the brothers of what's going on, so they won't freak out or anything," said Shinigami. "Good idea," said Miwa as her friend left. I smiled at Miwa and said, "It's good to see you sis." Miwa smiled and said, "And it is good to see you, Ani." In case anyone is wondering, Ani means brother in Japanese. "Is this your dog?" Twilight asked as she rubbed Spike's chin. "Well, where I'm from, he was your dog," I said, "his name's Spike."

"He was?" Twilight said, surprised, "I think he likes me." Spike licked her hands, making her giggle. "What do you mean by was?" Miwa asked, "And what's with the suit and wartorn mask? Not that it's a bad look." I sighed and said, "It's a very long and tragic story."

"Well how about I make some tea so that you can tell us," offered Miwa. "Sure," I said. "Want some tea Twilight?" asked Miwa. "Yes please," said Twilight. Miwa nodded, put Spike down, and left us alone so she could make the tea. Twilight looked at me, and then she burst into tears, hugging me tightly. I hugged her back, overwhelmed with my own emotions too. Spike whined, because he hated to see Twilight sad. "I missed you so much..." she sobbed, hugging me. "I know, it's okay..." I softly said, tears also in my eyes. Her grief was just like my own. "I- I tried s-so hard to be strong Leo..." she sobbed, "but I..." She then broke down even more. I gently stroked her hair, helping her calm down. "Hey, breathe... You're okay Twilight..." I said, calming her down. Her crying was less until she calmed down. "Sorry," she said, sniffling. "No, it's okay," I said, "Grief can take a toll on even the strongest person. I've experienced that firsthand." She smiled a little. Miwa came back with the tea for us.

As we drank our tea, I explained the dimension I'd come from, how the Shredder of my world had inexplicably come back from the dead and slaughtered my family, friends, and the Twilight of my world, and how I went on my quest for vengeance as The Nightwatcher. After I'd finished my story, Twilight gently put her hand on my cheek and said, "I'm so sorry you lost your wife that way. I lost my Leo on his birthday too. I was gonna tell him I was pregnant at the time." I nodded, replying, "I know. I met the spirit of your husband. When Shinigami opened the vortex to my world, I saw him. He told me of this world. I'm sorry his life abruptly ended that way. I guess we're more alike in grief than I thought." I had taken off my gloves so that I could hold Twilight's hand. "Guess we are," she sadly said. "But none of that matters now," I said, "because that was in the past, and I'm here, right now, with you Twilight. And I'm just glad to be with you Twi." She smiled, and I hugged her. I could get used to being in this new world.
