Don't Leave Me...
"Twilight, stay with us!" I kept telling her, trying to keep her from losing more blood. We bandaged her wound, but it wasn't enough. She was groaning in pain, tears coming from her eyes. Sunset was getting her phone. "My brother's a doctor," explained Sunset, "he can help us, no questions asked." She was dialing the number as I said, "let's get into the Shellraiser. I know it'll stick out like a sore thumb, but we don't have time! Okay Twilight, I'm gonna lift you up on 3, ready?" I counted to three, and lifted her up. Sunset, Spike, and I ran to the Shellraiser, getting in. Sunset said on the phone, starting the car, "Garrett? It's me, Sunset! Are you still at the hospital? Okay, good. We need help! Twilight's been stabbed! She's losing a lot of blood, please help us! Okay, we'll be there soon."
She started driving, and Twilight held my hand. "Leo, I'm scared..." Twilight said in pain, tears coming down. "I know baby, I know," I said, trying to remain calm, "but we're gonna get you the help you need. Sunset's brother is gonna patch you up." Twilight weakly smiled and said, "Garrett... Haven't seen him in years... You'd like him Leo..." We were almost near the hospital. "It's gonna be okay Twi," I said, trying to help her breathe. "I love you..." Twilight slowly said, trying not to lose consciousness. "I love you too," I said, knowing she meant it, and I wanted her to know I meant it too. We then were outside the emergency room.
Outside was a young man in a surgeon's outfit and glasses. He looked just like Sunset, fiery hair, cyan eyes, skin tone, and all. So this was Sunset's brother, Dr. Garrett Shimmer. He had a medical bed with him. Looks like Garrett was one step ahead of us. Good man. We got out with Twilight. "I got out here as soon as I could," said Garrett, "put her on the bed, ASAP!" We did as he told, and we followed him to the ER, not caring if anyone noticed me. "I'll do what I can to patch up Twilight," said Garrett, "go into the waiting room, I admitted Twilight in. I'll let you know the results soon." He then went into the operating room with Twilight. Before she went in, she pointed at herself, made a gesture between her hands, and then pointed at me, trying to smile. My wife just told me in sign language, that she loved me...
We waited for hours in a waiting room. I took off my mask, breathing intensely. "Garrett's a nice guy," I said, trying to remain calm. But how could I? "Yeah, he is," said Sunset, "Leo... Are you okay?" I looked down in tears and said, "To be honest... No Sunset, I'm not. My most dreaded enemy is back from the dead, he's killed my father, my sister, our friends, my brothers... And now my wife is close to being at death's door." Spike whined, and I petted him. I could see the dread in Sunset's eyes as she realized, "Raph..." She then burst into tears, sobbing. "This is all my fault..." she sobbed. I put my arm around her and said, "No this isn't Sunset..."
"Yes it is!" she protested, "Shredder's the one that tried to kill me! That blow was meant for me, not Twilight! And now my best friend might die! And not only that, but I lost the love of my life!" She continued to cry her eyes out. I wanted to cry with her, but, all I could feel was rage, and the feeling of powerlessness... Feelings of revenge. After she was done crying, Sunset sniffled. "Sorry for breaking down," she awkwardly said. "No, you're okay," I said, trying to smile. Spike went to her, and she hugged him. A couple minutes later, Garrett walked in, his hands bloody. He was shaking. "Garrett, how is she?" Sunset desperately asked. Garrett somberly shook his head.
"I'm sorry..." Garrett sadly said, "I tried to save her, but... Her wounds were so terrible... She lost too much blood... She didn't make it... I was too late... I'm so sorry..." He sadly looked down, and took off his glasses, went to a wall, and started to cry. Sunset went to him, and hugged her little brother. "I couldn't save her Sunny!" I heard Garrett sob through the muffling, "I failed her!" Sunset's motherly/sisterly instincts kicked in and she rocked him back and forth, softly saying, "You did your best Garrett, you did your best... Shhhh... It's not your fault..." I felt a lump in my throat as I had to learn to accept the truth that my wife was dead... "C-can I see her, one more time...?" I asked. Garrett nodded, understanding I wanted to say goodbye to her one last time.
I quietly went in. Her entire body and head was covered in a white blanket. Her clothes that were bloodied and damaged were removed. I went to her body, and gently pulled down part of the blanket to see her face one more time... Her glasses were off, but her eyes were closed. That's when I broke down. "Oh Twilight," I sobbed, "my love!" I kissed her forehead and wept bitterly.
