||During the war||
"Leo I forgot my dagger, wait a sec." You called as you walked back into bunker 9. As soon as you took a few steps in the door slammed shut. "Leo very funny, now open the door you know I have claustrophobia." You pounded on the door because the knob wouldn't budge. "It's not me y/n." You breath hitched as you pounded harder. When that didn't work you started searching for a way to open the door. "Well well well. Leo Valdez. I am going to enjoy watching this play out." Leo heard the sickly voice that he recognized all too well. "Gaea! What do you want?" Leo said trying to hide the fear with false confidence. "We both know you are afraid of me dear. And I would like to see what happens next Leo Valdez, I am sure you will find it very interesting and chaotic." Leo was confused and frustrated but all he knew was that Gaea could hurt you. "Don't hurt her! She never wanted anything to do with you or this stupid war!" Leo yelled. " I won't hurt her, you already did Leo Valdez." Gaea disappeared and Leo realized his hand were ablaze. You were inspecting the door when it suddenly caught fire. You fell and quickly scrambled back. The area around you was engulfed in flames. It was as if the flames were trying to protect you from something but you couldn't protect yourself from the flame. You inhaled one last time before sulfurous air took over your lungs. You close your eyes hearing Leo's voice but it was getting father and farther away. Leo busted down the door once he realized he had set it on fire. He saw your eyes closing and tears threatened to spill out his eyes. "Y/n no! This is all my fault! Please don't leave me!" He gathered you in his arms and took you to the infirmary. 3 days. 3 whole day you had been sitting there. Leo never left your side once. That's a lie, he did have to go to the bathroom a couple times. But other than that he didn't leave. He sat next to you praying to the gods that you would wake up. He was staring at you when your eyes flickered forward. Your eyes found Leo and he was still watching you. "Mars almighty Valdez! You creeping me out." You said and tears poured down Leo's cheeks. He pulled you into a hug which you gladly returned. "It was all my fault." He mumbled into your shoulder. "Now that's a lie. And you shouldn't lie to your girlfriend. But seriously it wasn't your fault Leo and you need to know that." You said rubbing your back. "No matter what happens this was not your fault Leo." You pulled away from the hug. "I'd rather you blame me before you blame yourself." You told him. Leo pulled you into a soft kiss. He was gentle. As if he was afraid he would hurt you. When he pulled away you were smiling. "What was that for?" You asked. "I love you y/n, and sometimes I'm afraid that someone or something will take you away from me." Leo said. "As sweet as that is, you know that I will judo flip anyone that tries to take me away from you." Leo cracked a smile. "Good." You said. "What?" Leo asked very confused. "I made you smile. It is your job to make everyone in the Argo smile and it's my job to make you smile.
