Lennox Potter Part

I DO NOT OWN HARRY POTTER OR ANY OF THE CHARACTERS FROM THAT SERIES AS THEY ALL BELONG TO JOANNE KATHLEEN (J.K.) ROWLING.

Lennox was sitting against Harry on the train ride back home. It was more than late at this point. Harry was already asleep. She had her head rested on his shoulder as she looked over the compartment. Everyone else here was sleeping as well. After a while, Lennox began to remember meeting Sirius and Lupin for the first time. It was years and years ago, but she could remember it.

Severus carried Lennox up to Dumbledore’s office. He definitely was putting on a lot of strain considering that even though Lennox was tiny for her age, she was still twelve. He had woken her up to show her to Sirius Black and Remus Lupin. He knew that he would have to show them Lennox sometime. When Dumbledore and Severus had told them about her, he was not surprised that they didn’t believe the story.

Lennox moaned a little and kept her arms wrapped around Snape’s neck. He rubbed her back, holding her up.

“Why do I have to meet people now?” Lennox whimpered.

“I know that it is early, but these people are important.” Snape told her gently.

“Do they involve Harry?” Lennox asked weakly.

“They do.” Snape told her.

When he was at the door, he stopped to hear the conversation.

“It doesn’t make any seconds at all. Lily would’ve told us about her pregnancy. James at least. James was our best friend.” Sirius said, Snape could hear the hurt in his voice.

“You need to know that I told them the truth, that one of his best friends, so either you, or you Remus, or Pettigrew. The problem was, no one knew which friend it would be. Instead of taking their chances with anyone, they decided that it was safer for them to keep the pregnancy a secret.” He heard Dumbledore answer.

“But Severus. I can believe that James agreed with that.” He heard Lupin say, “it’s frankly the biggest thing that I find so unbelieving about this.”

“Lily convinced James to make up with Severus and Severus to do the same. It was a bit cold at first, but they managed to set them aside by the time that Lennox was born.” Dumbledore answered.

Snape sighed before walking into the room, holding up the girl. Sirius, still livid, looked at him as Snape sat down in his spot again, holding Lennox. Lennox looked around a little. Making eye contact with Sirius and Lupin, they both gasped. Lennox then turned back to Severus, “Sevey, why are they looking at me like that?”

Snape kissed her forehead, “they are surprised to see you, Lennox.”

Sirius then whispered, “she has Lily’s eyes. This must be some trick.”

“Believe what you want gentlemen, but you should know that I would never lie to you two, especially not with something as big as this.” Dumbledore told them.

Lennox turned back to look at them. They stared at her as they got a full view of her face. Lupin whispered, “it’s amazing how you can see so much of both of them. Amazing.”

Sirius nodded, “it is. I can see James’s nose and chin. Lily’s cheeks, lips, eyes. Even her hair was the same colour at that age.”

“She looks like Petunia too.” Lupin observed, “Petunia and her mother, but there are subtle glances of her father.”

Snape nodded and Lennox leaned against him, “Sevey, can I go back to sleep?”

Snape nodded at her and told her, “yes. Thank you Lennox.”

“When was she born?” Lupin asked Snape.

“July 5. Just before Lily and James’s death.” Snape answered, Lennox falling to sleep on his lap.

“So…the day that they said that they were busy with family. That was…” Sirius asked after thinking about the dates for a moment.

Snape nodded, “that was it. Lily was in labour for ten hours. After that she spent the night in the hospital.”

Lupin sighed before he then held his head in his hands for a moment. After a couple of seconds, he looked back at Dumbledore and Snape and asked them, “does Harry know? Do Harry’s aunt and uncle know?”

Snape shook his head. “No. As far as we know, not even You-Know-Who knows. Just the four of us adults in here as well as the prophets.”

Sirius nodded and asked Snape, “you have been taking care of her, all of these years?”

Snape nodded, “I have. I was called on to be Lennox’s godfather. She went into my care the night that they were murdered. Lennox was in the basement, sound proof. Since the Dark Lord only knew about Harry, he never could’ve known that there was another child in the house. Actually…I think that it is the only reason that James was downstairs. I think that he was shutting and locking the basement door to make sure that Lennox would not be heard if she started to cry. At nights, Lily would sleep down in the basement with her. He must’ve waited for her to get out before doing the procedure.”

Sirius and Lupin were frozen, their gaze blank as they took in the story. Sirius then sighed before he then said, “Harry told me that he’d hear his father telling Lily to go get Harry and that You-Know-Who was coming. Go get Harry…”

Lupin caught on just as everyone else in the room did. Even Lennox, who was trying to drift off to sleep. They had realized that James was calling Lily up from the basement and quickly as he knew that they didn’t have time. As James was locking the door, Lily went up to Harry. It was what made the Dark Lord have his advantage over James. He was already in the house when James went to go to the front door. James didn’t have the advantage over him anymore by the time that he got there.

Lennox opened her eyes and looked around at them before turning to Dumbledore, “you’re talking about my mother father, Severus?”

Snape nodded and told her, “we are. These two men here, they were very good friends of your father and mother. The one in black,” Snape pointed at Sirius, “he’s your brother’s godfather. Like how I am your godfather.”

Lennox looked at Sirius and smiled a little before turning to Lupin and smiling at him too. Both of them smiled back, getting to look at her face again. They could see both of their friends in their child, though they had only just met her.

The young child looked back at Snape before she then leaned against him again, still tired.

“I ask that you tell no one of this, Sirius and Remus. As if her presence is known to the Dark Lord, it will surely mean death to everyone opposed to the Dark Lord. I have heard from the prophets that it was so. Lily and James knew quite the same.” Dumbledore told them.

Their eyes widened, “what do prophets have to do about this?”

“Harry is apart of a three part prophecy. He is apart of the second part, as the first has happened already to the Evans family history. After Harry’s prophecy has come through, it will then fall upon Lennox.” Dumbledore answered, “Lily and James were fully aware of this before they died. It was why they tried so hard to conceive and give birth to Lennox. We do not know who the person is who is considered to be in the third prophecy, but we made it so that Lennox would be.”

Sirius and Lupin nodded weakly. Snape sighed before turning to them, “I better put her to bed again.”

“Of course Severus.” Dumbledore told him.

Snape picked up Lennox again. She yawned and closed her eyes again as he did so.

            “Wait! Severus!” Lupin asked.

Snape turned around to face him, holding the girl tightly, “yes?”

“She calls you Sevey or Severus. Why not father?” Lupin asked.

Snape sighed before answering, “because I am not her father, I am her guardian. I’ll never be deserving enough for her to call me her father, though she may consider me to be, the title is not mine. Her father is James. Not me.”

Sirius was the only one not to nod as he thought about the answer, more gracious to Snape at that moment then he ever thought that he would in his lifetime. Snape then turned and left the office and Lennox found herself asleep before he could place her back into her bed.

After that night, over the years, Lennox could’ve sworn that she saw a black dog around Snape’s house. Of course it was when she was seventeen that she learned at this black dog was Sirius Black. She didn’t know it before. She guessed that every once and a while, he wanted to see her, or check up on her. She didn’t know. She never had the chance to ask him herself.

She sighed before she then hard Harry ask, “what are you thinking about?”

“Oh. Harry. Harry I’m so sorry. I thought that you were asleep,” she sighed before she then lifted her head up.

“It’s alright. What were you thinking about?” Harry asked again, still whispering.

“I was thinking about the first time that I saw Sirius and Remus Lupin.” Lennox answered.

“When was that, by the way?”

“It would’ve been the end of your third year at Hogwarts. After you saved Sirius from being killed. Severus told me that it was later that night.”

            “It makes sense now.”

            “What does?”

“When I talked to Lupin the next day, I was talking about Snape, saying terrible things, but I never understood why Lupin defended hm. Why Lupin always defended Snape. I realize it now. He met you. He met you and saw just how well Snape was taking care of you. It was an inside thing and it is the only reason why he was ever able to tell me to tone it down when talking about Snape.”

Lennox nodded, “they were good people. I only met them once, but they seemed like good people.”
