Insomnia
I melt from fatigue
When I finally rest,
Lying down on my bed
In a blanket's nest,
I ought to sleep
And get a break,
Yet my mind is active,
Completely awake.
My eyes blink,
Staring into the dark,
"Come on, just sleep!"
Is my brain's remark,
Anxiety heightens
The longer it goes on,
I won't be alert
When it comes to dawn.
One, two, three,
The hours tick by,
Staring at the clock,
I wish the end of nigh,
Until the sun opens
It's golden eyes,
Just as I slip
Into dreaming skies.
