Okay Since I Haven't Been Here in a Long Time
Hi. So, I never update, but let's talk about what nobody's thinking about.
THE MANDELA EFFECT. Affect, effect, I'm dumb so I wouldn't know. Anyway.
The Mandela Effect, for those who don't know, is that thing where everyone remembers something different about an event. Like with the Berenstein Bears. Or, should I say the Berenstain Bears? With this case, some people remember the Berenstain Bears spelled as Berenstein. This isn't the only case, too. The name itself comes from Nelson Mandela, because people, somehow, could remember his death airing live on television when he was still alive.
So the randomness for this is, what do you guys think of the Mandela Effect? Is it even real? Do some people just manage to create fake memories? - this actually makes me think of something else completely. False memories. Y'know, there are theorists out there that think that it's possible for all of our memories to be programmed into us. But like, it's literally possible- aside from the programming part- and not just in books. Like, doesn't it seem crazy that we, OURSELVES, could've fabricated all of our memories? Even if we're fully confident that things really happened?
Like what if I think that I got slapped in the face by accident during 6th grade because I ran into someone's hand? What if that's just my mind's way of saying that I'm enough of an idiot to do stupid things, or just another outlet for my anxiety to remind me of stupid things I haven't even done? Or what if we just created these false memories- if everything IS a false memory- to hide something else (I sound like a true conspiracy theorist, I hope you're proud, mom). What if, like a certain book I technically never finished, someone found a way to "program" people with new memories, to hide something? This is kind of cringe-y the more I write. I'd mention the book that inspired this, but technically connecting the book and this paragraph is a spoiler.
Back to the Mandela Effect and false memories. So, normally false memories are over things that don't mean to much- like, I don't know, the spelling of a book series (Berenstain Bears), whereas with the Mandela Effect itself doesn't completely focus on these things. Like with the Jurassic Park movie, some people remember a scene with a T-Rex breaking through the scene. But the creator of the movie says this was never filmed.
Plus, the Mandela effect usually affects more than just one person about a single event. Back to the Jurassic Park example, it's not just one person who's said that they remember this scene, unlike with forgetting your keys when you could've sworn you took them with you.
Back to my questions, because I am so great at updating Wattpad books, that's me.
Anyway, what do you think of the Mandela Effect? Are we just creating false memories? Or, y'know, the theorist side of the case, did we just hop universes into one where the simplest of things have changed?
