It was a cool autumn morning, the fog travelling across your lawn, hiding various flowers scattered around your garden. You watched as the fallen leaves got swept up by the cool air making them dance beautifully around the front of the house, you couldn't help but smile. You were broken away from watching the leaves after hearing the whistle of the kettle, signalling you that it is ready.
You prepped 3 mugs on the counter, 2 Mama bear mugs and 1 Baby bear mug. The Mama's mugs being filled with coffee, 1 sugar for you, 3 for Yelena. Your wife had such a sweet tooth that it was sometimes concerning, however you knew better than to question it. The last mug was filled with hot chocolate and half a teaspoon of sugar. You didn't want your baby girl picking up the same sugar habits as her Mama.
After finishing up the 2 coffee's, you jumped when you felt a pair of arms wrap around your waist. You relaxed almost immediately recognising them as Yelena's, you could also smell the aroma of her perfume that lingered on her shirt.
"Sorry, my love, I didn't mean to scare you."
You turned your head to let your eyes meet Yelena's softly pecking her lips as you relaxed further into her delicate touch. You hummed in appreciation once she kissed your cheek.
"It's okay, I was just about to bring you your coffee. You're up early, my sun."
You watched her as a wide smile spread across her face at the nickname you still use after 15 years of knowing each other. You couldn't stop the smile that spread onto your own face as you gently popped a few mini marshmallows into your daughters' hot chocolate before you threw one into Yelena's mouth causing her to giggle.
"The bed felt cold without you, besides, I heard little footsteps running across the landing."
You raised your eyebrow with a questioning look.
"Oh, you did, did you? I wonder who it might have been."
She hummed in agreement before glancing over at the kitchen door where you saw some curly blonde locks disappear followed by a small gasp.
"I don't know honey, but I bet they're really smelly."
You laughed loudly throwing your head back smiling wide when you heard the biggest, most dramatic gasp just before your daughter came bounding into the kitchen stomping her feet.
"I am NOT smelly, mommy gave me a bath last night. Besides, you're the one who's smelly mama."
You watched as Yelenas began to fake cry, hiding her face in her hands, your daughter immediately becoming concerned thinking she's made her Mama cry. She looks up at you for reassurance, her deep brown eyes, which are so much like Yelena's, brimming with tears. You nudged her gently towards Yelena, acting out giving her a cuddle which she happily obliged as she wrapped her arms around her Mama's leg.
"I sorry, don't cries."
Yelena glanced down at your daughter before swooping her up into her arms giving her a big hug, blowing raspberries on her stomach causing Zara to squeal loudly kicking her legs.
"It's okay little one, mama was only playing."
You were quick to react, moving each of the cups away from the pair so they don't get knocked over.
"Now, now you two, either stop it or take it in the front room so I can make breakfast."
You watched them both glance at you before giving them a warning look, resting your hands on your hips. Zara gasped before grabbing Yelena tighter.
"It's the look Mama, we need to be good now," she whispered to your now as equally panicked wife.
"Yeah, I think you might be right kiddo, I think we should go to the front room," she mumbled. Yelena was quick to give you a wide, toothy grin before she ran the both of them to the front room, away from your motherly wrath.
You shook your head smiling to yourself as you went on to prepare breakfast for yourself and the troublesome duo, who you know was definitely making a mess of your freshly cleaned living room.
*****
It was your turn to drive Zara to school this morning as Yelena had to leave earlier for work than usual. Something about some files being compromised and having to get a lecture off of her sister, Natasha.
You glanced into the rearview mirror getting a look at your daughter who was just sat playing with her hands with a permanent frown etched onto her face. It wasn't a common occurrence to see your daughter in such an obviously bad mood, she was usually a bubbly, smiley and happy little girl. It was something that you and Yelena had noticed recently, she seemed to be more clingy, a lot more temperamental and just not as happy.
"Are you okay sweetie? You're pretty quiet back there."
You waited a minute or so for an answer but then frowned when you didn't get one. This really wasn't like her at all, it had begun to worry you. Once you got to the school you parked in your usual spot before turning around to face Zara who just stared back at you blankly.
"Are you gonna talk to mommy? Or am I going to have to tickle it out of you?"
She huffed at you, stubbornly crossing her arms across her chest causing you to frown even more. This was not your happy little girl, not at all. It's like she was a completely different person compared to how happy she was at home earlier in the morning. You were sure you heard a slight mumble so you pressed again for an answer.
"I don't wanna go school! I don't like it, I wanna stay with you and M-M-Mama," she sobbed loudly in the back of the car. You were quick to unbuckle her from her car seat, pulling her onto your lap rocking her gently.
"Shhh Малышка (Babygirl), it's okay, take deep breaths for me, sweetheart."
She nodded against your chest taking deep breaths, beginning to calm down thanks to your comfort. You sighed quietly holding Zara close to your chest as you manoeuvred yourself out of the car, keeping her in your arms as you walked to her classroom. Once you saw her teacher, you strolled over immediately getting her attention as she knows you and Yelena have strict job schedules which can sometimes interfere with school mornings.
"Hi, Mrs Belova, it's nice to see you-"
She cut herself off once she realised Zara was still crying in your arms and you tensed your jaw.
"How long has this been going on? That my daughter has been so upset at school that she doesn't want to be here. I want to know how long and why neither I nor my wife has been informed."
You watched the teacher clear her throat trying to find the words, the tension in your jaw getting tighter as your glare got harsher.
"It's uh, it has been happening for about 3 weeks now, we have done our best to sort the problem but nothing we've done has helped."
You looked up at her with an even harsher look than before.
"She's only been here 3 weeks? So you're telling me that this has been happening since she got here and you didn't think to tell her parents?" You snarled at her, the anger in the pit of your stomach increasing.
"You also said a problem, what kind of problem might that be? You better start telling me everything right now," you warned maliciously.
The teacher quickly nodded at you explaining how since the start Zara was always teary when it came to her being dropped off at school. She further explained about problems she'd been having with a certain child which made your blood boil.
"We'll Miss Kerrigan, you better get that problem sorted before I send my wife here to talk to that child's mother. I can promise you now she won't be as tamed as I am," you snapped harshly before storming out of the classroom, Zara still comfortably in your arms.
Now to have the chat with Yelena about what to do next.
***** Yelena's morning hadn't been much better than yours. The files that got compromised were the files that would lead to the Hydra bases they were able to find out.
Much to Yelena's annoyance, that meant information on the Red Room was lost too. That's how Yelena is now sat in one of the conference rooms watching Natasha absolutely lose her shit in Russian.
"Бля Rumlow! Я должен был убить его, когда у меня был шанс. (Fucking Rumlow! I should have killed him when I got the chance)."
Yelena rolled her eyes hard at her older sister who was pacing the conference room. Her shouting was beginning to give her a headache.
"Ну, теперь все кончено, я просто хочу домой. От вашего крика у меня болит голова. (Well it's over now, I just want to go home. Your shouting is giving me a headache.)"
Natasha scoffed rolling her eyes, both the Russians' attention being caught by the sound of the conference room door opening. They both immediately stood up straight thinking its Fury but are pleasantly surprised at the little footsteps that come running through.
"Mama! Auntie Natty!"
Yelena looked at you with a questioning expression to which you just shook your head as Natasha picked up Zara, throwing her in the air before catching her again.
"There's my favourite little girl!"
You walked over to Yelena gently grabbing her hand walking her outside the conference room before turning to her with tears in your eyes.
"Oh my love, what happened? Why isn't Zara at school?"
She pulled you into a tight hug, allowing you to sob into her shoulder as you explained this morning's events. You felt her body tense around you, you knowing that her blood was beginning to boil. You hiccuped once more before pulling away and wiping your eyes.
"What do you we do, my sun? I can't force her to go to school if she's unhappy, I just can't."
Yelena held your hands tighter, pressing a kiss to your forehead as you continued to calm yourself down.
"We'll let her have the rest of the week off, see what we can get her to tell us. I'm gonna be making some phone calls to the school and when she eventually does go back, I'll be taking her until I see the parents of the kid that's upset her."
You nodded listening to the change of tone from your lovers' voice which highlighted the protectiveness and the love for your daughter. Nobody hurts your baby and gets away with it. Yours and Yelena's embrace was interrupted by little arms wrapping around each of your legs.
Yelena smiled down at your daughter before lifting her up, getting a kiss on either one of her cheeks from both Yelena and yourself. Zara smiled wide at you both before resting her head comfortably on Yelena's shoulder.
"Hi princess, Mama missed you today. Do you want to go and do something fun with mommy and Auntie Nat?"
She nodded quickly at her Mama's suggestion before they were interrupted by the sound of footsteps. You smiled at the agent with dark hair who walked around the corner, immediately receiving a smile back. Yelena turned her attention to the agent, smiling.
"Hi Maria, I didn't think you were in today?"
"I wasn't meant to be, but one of the new recruits needed sorting, they kind of had a meltdown."
Maria's attention turned to Natasha who's cheeks were going a light shade of pink after seeing her in her tight suit. The nervous actions of Natasha grabbed your attention causing her to smirk as the woman, who you now know as Maria, addressed her.
"Agent Romanoff, you're looking well."
"I uh, yeah, I'm great, thanks."
Natasha shot you a harsh glare as you couldn't hold the giggle that escaped your lips as you watched Nat become flustered. This was the woman she spoke about regularly, you now understood why she made her nervous.
"Auntie Natty, why are you so red? You look like a tomato."
You couldn't hold your laughter as she pointed out Natasha's flushed cheeks causing her to become even more embarrassed than she was to begin with. Maria turned her attention to Zara, immediately making her hide in her Mama's neck.
Maria's stern-looking demeanour immediately melted into a comforting persona as she smiled at Zara. Her voice going an octave higher to ensure the comfortability of your daughter. It was an odd sight for both Yelena and Natasha, watching as Maria Hill melted into the cuteness of Zara, immediately becoming soft and caring.
"Hi sweetie, I'm Maria, you don't need to be scared."
Zara looked at you for reassurance, her head still tucked into the crook of Yelena's neck, to which you nodded and gave her a reassuring smile. She looked at Maria, who still held a soft smile on her face, before slowly reaching out to her letting the agent hold her.
You smiled at Yelena before turning your attention back to Maria and Zara.
"She likes you," you whispered gently. "She doesn't usually let strangers come near her, never mind hold her."
Maria smiled wide at the information she'd been given.
"That's really great, she's adorable. I'm glad I finally got to meet the both of you, Yelena and Nat never shut up about you both."
You watched as Zara smiled shyly before hiding her face into Maria's shoulder causing her to laugh gently. You turned your attention to Natasha who couldn't look more in love at the sight in front of her if she tried. She and Maria just need to get together already, this was something you and Yelena both agreed on.
"Mommy, can Maria come to have fun with us? Please?"
"If she wants to sweetie."
Zara turned her attention to Maria making the poutiest lips she could, followed by the widest, cutest puppy eyes. Your daughter was so much like her Mama when it came to being able to get what she wanted.
"How can I say no to the cutest little girl in the world?"
Zara smiled wide at Maria once she realised she got her own way. Maria looked over at Nat mentioning for her to walk with her as you all left S.H.I.E.L.D. to go and have family fun. You and Yelena not being surprised when you eventually noticed that had Natasha slipped her hand into Maria's as they walked in front of you.
*****
It had been a long and tiring day for your little girl. Her auntie Nat and Maria made sure to keep her occupied to make her feel better after being informed of what happened. Yelena had already made several phone calls to the school, some more threatening than others to ensure that they will get the problems sorted. The main threat being if the school didn't sort it, Yelena most definitely will.
It was now 8:30 pm which was past little Belova's bedtime. Exhaustion was prominent in Zara's features as her head kept dropping from Yelena's shoulder, each time it startled her back awake. You took Zara from Yelena's arms so that she could discard her jacket before getting into comfier clothes. Zara whined as you walked towards her room causing you to look down at her.
"Do you want to sleep in mama and mommy's bed tonight?"
Zara nodded tiredly against your shoulder sucking on your thumb, a habit you thought you and Yelena had successfully broken her out of, apparently not. This time you were going to let it slide knowing that she had an upsetting day. You set her down on your bed, getting her changed into her pyjamas before changing yourself.
You smiled at Yelena when she came out of your bathroom, clambering into bed with you and Zara, blowing raspberries on her stomach causing her to squeal and shy away into you for protection.
"Mommy help! Mama is gonna eat me!"
You chuckled pulling Zara onto your lap wrapping her in the blanket that was draped around your shoulders. Yelena stopped and just laid smiling at the both of you as you peppered Zara's head in soft kisses.
"Nobody is gonna get my baby, but now it's time for you to go to sleep okay? It's way past your bedtime missy."
Zara whined but then nodded before nuzzling her head deeply into your chest as you ran your fingers through her golden curls. Yelena leant over pulling you both to her, kissing each of you on the head before settling down herself.
It didn't take long for Zara to pass out cold from how tired she has been all day. Your attention turned to Yelena as she tilted your jaw to turn your head to face her. Your lips connected in a slow and passionate kiss before you both pulled away resting your foreheads together. You were the first to break the comfortable silence.
"I love you so much, my sun."
"I love you so much too, my everything."
You smiled at your wife who was able to make your stomach flip even after all the years you had spent together. She knew you better than anyone. Yelena smiled back at you, watching your facial expressions closely before the both of you drifted into a peaceful slumber.
