The Invitation

(ALRIGHT! Here we are! Season 4, baby! Things are about to get interesting~)

It has been a year. One... Whole... Year... since Zane... I sigh. Things have not gone well with the team. Jay and Cole still argued and Kai was wrapped up in guilt. Nya busied herself with inventions. Soon we just... separated. I tried to... It's just.... "AAAAAAAAAHHHH!" I punch a nearby tree. I pant then place my forehead against the bark. I was trying to do some training to try and keep my skills sharp, but it is not going so well. I turn around and slid my back down the tree to sit down. The team kind of fell apart a few months after Zane's memorial. I tried to busy myself with training, but I lacked in performance. Lloyd is pretty much the only one that I have kept in constant contact because he was the most put together out of all of us right now. I huff out a laugh, he's my little brother and he comforts me. (They grow up so fast. 🥹)

"Sweetie," I look up to see Gramma walk up to me with a cup. "I made you some tea." She offers the cup to me. I thank her as I take the cup and blow away the steam before taking a sip. I had decided to return back to my father's hometown so I could heal from loss. Gramma let me stay and she has been a big help for when I would mourn Zane. She even told me how she went through the same thing when her husband passed away ages ago. She is a massive help and really does feel like a grandma. "I know it is not easy. But perhaps now may be the time to talk to a certain someone." I look up at Gramma. I knew what she was talking about. I look at the tea and see my reflection. I had originally come here to learn about my father and I return back to mourn the loss of a brother.

It is time I finally talked to him. "Yeah." I agree. I stand up and finish the rest of the tea then give the cup to Gramma. She pats my shoulder and smiles softly at me. I take a deep breath and make my way to my destination. "We love you and we will watch over you from above, my beloved child." Mom's voice. Those are the exact same words I heard before I first arrived to the village. Is she gone too? Or could she be alive? I shake my head. "No. Right now, it's about Father." I tell myself.

I soon arrive to his grave, still decorated with gemstones. I inhale deeply and walk forward, lower onto my knees and sigh deeply. "Hi... Dad." I greet. I read what the tombstone said. '(F/N) (L/N). Friend, Husband, Father. Always remembered.' I felt my heart break slightly but swallow and keep my tears from falling. "I'm sorry it took so long. It's just that- I haven't really known about you till after the Great Devourer fiasco. Thanks for the money, though I have not really been spending it as much." I speak. I focus on my hands as I hold them, "I have never experienced loss before. So when I first visited you, I did not know what to do or what to say." I clench my hands as I close my eyes. (Already feeling emotional?)

I remember Zane's sacrifice. "But then Zane. He gave himself up... for Ninjago, for the people... for his family." I cough out a sob but try not to cry. "I could have done something. Anything!" I shout and punch the ground. I kneel as I couldn't hold it in anymore. I sob and the tears fell. "He was my brother, my friend, my teammate, my family and he's gone!" I hold my head in my hands. (D'oh! My heart! 😭💔) I don't know how long I cried for. I was suppose to talk to my father and I'm talking about my friend. I pant as I calm down but also feel a glare. I look up and blink as I hold my hand up to block a light. I look up and see a ray of sunlight shine down on Father's tomb. I find that two gems are shining brightly: a white diamond and an aquamarine. White-Zane's Gi. Light blue-His powers. (Light blue~ Keep that in mind for later. 😉)

My eyes widen and I wipe away my tears. I heard a heart beat. Zane's voice... could it be... I sit back up, "The team has not been the same. It's been a few weeks since I last contacted Lloyd. Zane's loss hit us all pretty hard." I sniff as I wipe away another tear. "I have heard Mother's voice sometimes. She was saying goodbye, how much you and her love me and that you will look after me." I look up at his tombstone and see more stones light up. A sapphire, a ruby, an emerald and a black diamond. I realize something and smile, "You're right. We still have each other. I still think I could have done something to help Zane, but we have to keep moving forward. I learned that when I left the orphanage and went out into the world." I look away as I remember when I first met the guys. "To think it was because I accepted an offer from a white-bearded man that drinks a lot of tea." I joke. I feel another light and look up to see it was from a stone right at the center of the stone: an amethyst. It shined brighter than the others.

I smile and at that. I close my eyes and take a deep breath, "Thanks, Dad. I will continue to make both you and Mom proud." I state. I stand up and take out a folded up drawing from my pocket. I unfold it and smile as I look at what I have drawn. I place it against the stone then walk away. It's time to have a talk.

Third Person P.O.V.

As (Y/N) walked away, the drawing is revealed to have been of (Y/N) with her father beside before her with a spiritual appearance as he wore blank robes. (Y/N) learned about what he had looked like thanks to Gramma as she had saved some paintings of the man. Two gems also shined faintly; a yellow topaz and an alexandrite. (I wonder what that  may mean~? Huh? HUH?)

(Y/N)'s P.O.V.

I had packed my things and gave Gramma a hug, thanking her for her kindness. I got on my motorcycle I had gotten back when I visited the school, which had shut down sometime after Zane's memorial. But before I got on, I groaned as I felt my head pound. "I love you, my little star. We always will." Huh? I heard that line before, but there was something new. I shake my head. "I'll think about it later. Right now: to family." I state, getting on and revving up my bike. I feel the wind on my face and close my eyes as I clear my mind. I soon see who I want to and open my eyes as I focus on driving.

Lloyd's P.O.V.

It has been a while since we have been a team. They guys have been off doing other things. Jay being a host to a TV show, Cole being a lumberjack and Kai partaking in underground fighting. I have tried to convince them come train but they didn't bother. After a testing out Dr. Borg's simulation and talking with Uncle Wu, I decided that maybe it is time to consider that possibility. But I have to talk about it to the rest of the team I stand at Zane's statue, missing him but know that the rest of team can't fall apart permanently. I already talked to Jay, Cole and Kai, now I just needed to find (Y/N).

"Or she finds you." I jump and turn around to see her. I smile and run over to hug her. She hugs back, "Sorry for not responding. Had to... have a talk with someone first." She says. I say nothing and hug her a little longer. We separate and sit on a bench. It was quiet and I look over to see her looking at the statue. "When Zane sacrificed himself, I felt like I could have saved him." She spoke. I frown in sympathy and look at the statue. "I never told this to anyone, but I felt I could have saved him too. But I also tell myself that Zane did it for us." I confess. I feel a hand on mine and look to see (Y/N) still looking at the statue. "It's been a year. And it still hurts." She says. I move to hold her hand properly as I look back at the statue. "Loss is something we live with. The feeling doesn't go away, but that doesn't mean it can't get better." I say. "You sound like Wu." She says. I smile after she said that. "Well, he does have a lot of wisdom." I say. "And a lot of experience." She adds. It's nice. Having these moments with my sister. But we still have a conversation to have with the others.

Third Person P.O.V.

Hours later, Kai had arrived to the park and walks up to the statue. It has been kept clean and polished by a group of people hired by (Y/N) as a way to honor Zane's legacy. (Ain't letting anyone tarnish it or have any bird poop stain it.) Kai steps onto the podium and gently rubs one of its legs as Falcon lands on its shoulder. Kai bows his head in mourning then lifts it up as he heads to the place Lloyd hinted to meet at. The sun had nearly set as the lights of the city started to come on.

Kai then arrives at the destination. "There's only one Master Chen's. Ninjago's number one noodle house." A recording plays as a animatronic of a man from the waist up says, lifting up and down a bowl of multi-colored fake noodles that lit up at night. Kai stop and looks up at the mechanism then enters to place. He looks around to find Lloyd, "Kai, back here." And said individual stands up from a booth, waving and smiling at him. Kai walks over but finds Lloyd not alone. "Jay? Cole?" He says in mild surprise. "Ha. You too?" "The runt tricked us all." Cole and Jay say, both having come but not happy. Food passes by then on a conveyer belt and Kai reaches out to grab something to eat, but Lloyd stops him as he grabs his arm. "Not yet. We still have someone to wait for." Lloyd states.

He lets go of Kai as the man sits down next to Cole. "Ugh. Do you have any idea how hard it is to have so much restraint while having to stare at all this noodle goodness? You're late. And who else is missing?" Cole grumpily complains. "Well, glad to know your appetite is the same." Cole, Kai and Jay all look to find (Y/N) has appeared. She had a small smile at seeing them all again. "(Y/N)!" Cole straighten up his sitting as he sees her. She wore a white short sleeve T-shirt with a purple crop-topped sweater and blue jeans along with hair tied back in its usual braid. "Sorry, I wanted to be presentable when we meet again." She said, sitting beside Kai. Cole stares at her, not use to seeing her all dressed up but looks away when (Y/N) glances at him. (You sensing something? 😏)

"Make it quick." Kai speaks. All focus is on Lloyd and he starts speaking. "I know without Zane things have been different, but we have to move on." He says. The guys were quiet as was (Y/N) as they listen to him. "The reason I brought you all here is because... Maybe we should add someone new to our team." He proposes. "A new ninja?" "Are you crazy?!?" "Come on, Zane's irreplaceable!" The guys all protest loudly. (Y/N) remained silent while her powers flare up and allowed her to feel the guys pain of losing Zane. She looks down at her hands on the table, "Of course, he can never be replaced." She says mentally. "I cared for him too, but now it's time to care about this team." Lloyd states. "Maybe without Zane there is no team." Kai snaps as he crosses his arms.

"Ow!" He yelps as he rubs the back of his head. "What was that-" He halts as he sees (Y/N) giving him a death glare. "Don't you DARE disrespect Zane like that." She states. The table became quiet upon hearing her angered tone. (Oh! She mad. 😰) "Zane sacrificed himself for us. Ninjago may be safe from the Overlord now but, as someone once said, 'there's always a need for a ninja.'" She looks directly at Kai after quoting what he said after the first battle with the Overlord. (Callback!) "Which means there will always be a new danger that will rise from the darkness and try to snuff out any light there is." She says, holding one of her hands up as a purple flame emits from it then closes her hand into a fist, extinguishing the flame. The guys were silent as they all think about what she said.

The doors open and some sunglass-wearing thug-looking men walk in. "Oh. Don't look now, but we've got trouble." Jay says to the group upon noticing the group. The lead thug with a mohawk grabs a couple at the register and pull them back. (Y/N) looks back at the group and glares at the behavior of the leader. The man takes off his sunglasses, revealing a purple snake tattoo on his face and his right eye replaced with a glass one. He and his goons, also having purple snake tattoos on their faces, wall up to the man at the register. The employee opens the register and gives them all the money in it. The leader demanded more but the employee backs away as there is no more money. The leader grabs him and places him on the conveyer belt, he and the goons laughing as the food are blocked by the man.

"All right, now they're our problem." Cole states. "And we're gonna solve them right now." (Y/N) states, immediately getting up and marching over to the thugs with the guys following her. "Excuse me, it's not polite to touch someone else's food." Cole states, arm crossed with a pair of chopsticks in his hands as he glares at the thugs. "I'd listen to him if I were you. He's no fun to be around when he's hangry." Kai says. "So, mind leaving the hardworking employee alone and returning the cash or deal with the man that is about to serve you?" (Y/N) adds. The leader smirks confidently though it falters a little upon seeing (Y/N)'s glare, feeling Deja Vu from it. He shakes it off and moves to punch Cole, but ninja moves and catches his wrist with the chopsticks.

He pulls it back and Cole clinks the sticks together, giving the leader a mocking smile as he does a 'bring it on' gesture with the chopsticks. The leader tries to kick him but got his ankle caught then get turn around by Cole. He swings a right hook at him but Cole hops back and sticks the chopsticks in the leader's mouth. (Y/N) laughing a little from the expression the leader made. Kai hops onto the bar and the two other thugs jump on. The leader removes himself from the chopsticks and walks over to press a button that speeds up the conveyer belt. He feels a tap on his shoulder and looks back to see (Y/N). "The thing about thugs while learning about them on the streets: they play dirty. Which is what you are." She tells him. He throws a punch right at her face, but it is caught and he winces as she grips his fist tightly. (Y/N) moved their hands to give him a disappointing look, "Nice try." She smirks. (Oh, dang.)

Kai takes advantage of the speeding belt and kicks some dishes at the thugs. "All right, I admit it. We make a good team." He says. The leader pulls back his fist once (Y/N) released him and throws punches and kicks at her, but misses every time as she expertly dodged with grace. Cole smiles as he watches her and helps himself to some of the flying food. He grabs them with his chopsticks and eats them. "Yeah! Mm! Everything's better on a full stomach." He quips. The leader glares at him and pushes a dish, destroying the glass sending the food on it flying. "Hey, I was gonna eat that." Cole complains to him. "Such rudeness." (Y/N) says as she appears behind the leader. He looks back at her and feels way too much familiarity from her. "Shrimp?" She says suddenly then shoves a shrimp into his mouth. (Anyone getting Deja vu from that trick? I' ll give you hint, it happened in Season 2.) He steps back in surprise from the force and backs up into Cole, who grabs him  and tosses him onto the conveyer belt. His face ending up in a bowl of noodles.

Kai runs and a thug chases him then stops a gives him a hard kick in the stomach. The thug falls onto his butt and rolls back, knocking back into the second thug and making him fall back and land on the leader after the first thug rolled over him. Kai hops onto them and lands with the rest of the team. "How can you walk away from this?" Lloyd asks them. "Literally or figuratively?" (Y/N) jokes with smile. "Hey, you're making jokes. It really is like old times." Jay says, tapping (Y/N)'s arm gently and she gives him a calm smile. As for the thugs, the leader pushes himself up to reveal sushi on his eyes and the shrimp still in his mouth. A little girl screams in fright from it and her mother beats them with a plate. (Don't mess with a mother.) The thugs get off the conveyer belt and run out the back doors, the leader looking back at the Ninja with a smirk before running off.

"Wha-?" "Hey." "After them." The team rush after them only to meet a dead end where a dumpster and some boxes are seen. "Oh. Where did they go?" Kai asks. However, there was something that did not match the rest of the setting. A fancy decorative alter that had two lit candles and a piece of paper hanging on the wall with a knife. "Huh?" "What's this?" Cole and Lloyd voice as they and the rest of the team walk over to it. Upon looking closer at the paper, they see it having some writing and a drawing of, "Uh..." "It's Zane." "What does it say?" Jay, Kai and Cole say in shock. (Y/N) remains silent as she looks longingly at the face of Zane. Lloyd makes his way forward as he pushes through and grabs the paper, it ripping a little from the knife. "It says... he's alive." Lloyd reads. (*Gasp!*) The guys gasp in disbelief, but (Y/N) exhales softly at a realization. "I don't think those thugs were delivering a message to the noodle house. I think they were delivering a message to us." Kai voices.

(Y/N)'s P.O.V.

Zane's...... Alive. The heartbeat, his voice... "Look." I blink as I tune back into reality after feeling a tap to my arm. I see Lloyd pointing at a platter on the table that had five fortune cookies. "I think this was meant for us too." Lloyd says. "Fortune cookies. Very peculiar." Jay voices as he grabs one. "Should we?" Lloyd asks. Cole grabs one and eats it... I give him a confused look as I grab a cookie for myself. "Uh, you do realize there's a fortune inside, right?" I hear Kai inform him. "Oh, so that's why they're called that." "Wait, you mean you have been eating them with the- You know what, forget it." What do I see in this man? Wait? What did I just think? (Yeah, what did you just think? 😏😏😏)

"Listen to this." I regain my senses from Lloyd's voice and quickly crack open the cookie and grab the paper. "'Mister Chen has personally invited you to participate in his Tournament of Elements.'" He starts. "Wait a minute. Are you saying that Mr. Chen, the same guy filling my belly with delicious goodness, is actually Master Chen?" Cole asks. "There's always more to person than what you are presented with." I comment. "'Secrecy is of the utmost importance. Tell no one, or suffer the consequences.'" "'If you ever want to see your friend again, meet on the pier at midnight tomorrow night and leave your weapons behind.'" Kai and Jay read. "'Compete or don't. The choice is yours.'" I read. I flinch as the paper poofs out of existence. I look to see Jay, Kai and Lloyd's do the same and we all look at Cole. He jumps and yells then belches put smoke. "Unh. At least I know I was invited." The guys laugh but I remain quiet.

"They told me." I whisper, looking at the ground. "What do you mean they told you?" I hear Kai ask. I inhale shakily as I hold my arm. "My powers... at Zane's memorial I felt a heartbeat. And I heard his voice." I confess. "I-I thought I was imagining it because when I tried to sense him with my powers after he sacrificed himself, I felt nothing." I grip my arm tighter. (And her heart breaking a little. 😢) I feel a hand on my shoulder and look to see Lloyd giving me a soft frown, "It doesn't matter if you told us then or now. We have a chance at seeing Zane again." He says. But then my powers flare as I feel suspicion from him. "But you don't think...?" "It could be a trap. A lie to lure us in." Kai finishes his question. "Yeah, but what if it's not? What if Zane's alive?" Jay counters.

I look down in thought. It won't erase the pain, but if there is a chance, no matter how small, I'm willing to take it. "The Tournament of Elements. I'm starting to think this Master Chen makes more than noodles." Lloyd voices. "We're about to find out. I'm going." I state. Then look at Kai, "We are still a team, but it's not the same without Zane." I tell him. He nods his head. "Let's go see about getting back an old teammate." He states. We all nod. "Well then, let's go compete in this tournament." I declare.

Garmadon's P.O.V. (Surprise P.O.V.!)

Things are at least peaceful for the time being. I walk over to a table that Nya and Wu are at as they look over blueprints that resembles the Bounty. "Hm, are you planning on fixing the Bounty?" I ask them. "Yeah, but we could do use some help." Nya answers. I smile at that then have a thought as I made my way to my son's room. Once I made it, I knocked on the door before sliding the door open. "I was just on my way to help Nya and Wu restore the Bounty. Would you like to join?" I ask him. "Guess you could say it's all hands on deck." I add a joke. "Uh, sorry, the guys, (Y/N) and I are going fishing. Team building exercise." He says. Huh. The team is rebuilding. "Hm, good to hear the team's back together." I comment.

I start to leave, "Dad?" But stop as Lloyd approached me. "Our elemental power... Are there others out there with powers like us?" What? Where did that come from? "Why would you ask that?" I question him. "No reason. It was just on my mind." He replies, turning away from me as I step into his room. One does not ask out of the blue questions without reason. I look and notice a takeout box with a very familiar symbol. I glare at it as unpleasant memories come back. "See ya. Early bird gets the worm." I look up at my son as he said that. Bag in hand, he walks out and I move to let him pass. But I look to find he has left behind his fishing pole after he told me he and the team would go fishing. I look back at the box. So, he finally makes his move after all these years. "Chen."

Third Person P.O.V.

Midnight was almost struck as many people wait at the docks. Kai arrives wearing his original Gi of when he and the Ninja first formed. Jay and Cole arrive as well: Jay in his ZX Gi and Cole in his dragon Gi. Kai groans as he takes off his hood, "Ah, I told you we shouldn't have worn them." He says. Lloyd meets with them as he arrives. Kai looks around at all the other people that showed up. "The Tournament of Elements. You think all of them have powers like us?" Kai questions out loud, getting some of the crowd's attention. "When I asked my dad about it, he got really suspicious. Like there something he's keeping from me." Lloyd voices. "The fortune cookie said tell no one or else there'd be consequences." Cole states. "Relax, we're cool." Lloyd reassures.

"But he's your father, and parents have a way of knowing their kids." The guys look to see (Y/N). She walks up to meet with them and is wearing her Tech Gi for it was the last one she wore when fighting beside Zane. Along with Zane being the reason why she is going in the first place. She blinks as her powers flare up and her vision changes as she looks around to see the auras of the people around them. "I'm feeling all kinds of power. Poison, metal, even gravity." She informs quietly. She blinks again as her vision returns to normal and looks at the guys. "They are elemental masters." She states. The guys share a look as they take in the information.

A large boat then arrives at the dock they stand on. A plank is lowered down, connecting the boat with the dock. A man with long black hair tied back in a low ponytail wearing a red and purple outfit with gold details resembling snakes walks across the plank in a dignified form as he holds his hands behind his back. He stands on the deck as the crowd walks up to him. "We don't know yet if this is a trap. Wherever they take us, we have to stick together." Lloyd tells the team as they made up the end of the line. The man moves to the side as he allows the people to board the boat, "Watch your step, madam." He says to a woman at the front of the line. The woman wears a bright orange Gi with the hood up and covering her hair, and she looks back to reveal that she is quite beautiful. (Here she is~) She smiles as her eyes make contact with Kai's. Kai blinks as his expression becomes soft while smiling in infatuation at the mysterious woman. He sighs softly and (Y/N) mentally gags as she feels what he does. "Not again." She mutters. (Girl feels like third wheel at times.)

"We can't let anything distract us. You hear me, Kai?" Lloyd whispers to him with a stern tone. "Huh? Uh, y-yeah. Uh, got it. Whatever you said." Kai agrees, though not actually paying attention. The crowd had boarded the boat, leaving the Ninja to be the last ones on the dock. "Master Chen will be charmed to see you've accepted his offer. A Master of Spinjitzu shall fare favorably in his tournament." The dark-haired man says to Jay in a sly and sarcastic tone. "Hey, we're not here to fight. We're here to save a friend." Jay states. "Don't be so petty, Master Jay. Everyone here has something to fight for." The man states as he grabs the nunchucks from Jay's bag. "Chopsticks. I'm a big eater. Heh-heh." Jay tries to cover. The man smirks as he tosses the weapon into the water. Jay gulps but the man moves his hand to gesture to the boat.

Jay walks across the water on the plank with the rest of the team following. "Lloyd, wait!" Lloyd halts and looks back to see his father walk up to him. "If you get on that boat, you may never return." Garmadon tells him. But as he talked, time seems to have slowed down as (Y/N) walks pass the dark-haired man and he glances at her only to find her side-eyeing him. His eyes widen slightly as he feels familiarity from her. (I wonder why~) Time returns to normal as she boarded the boat and the man focuses on the interaction between father and son. "What are you doing here, Dad?" Lloyd asks Garmadon. "Master Chen is a dangerous man who should never be trusted. Whatever he promised you, do not believe him." Garmadon urges him, grabbing his arm to try and keep him from going.

The dark-haired man stops midway on the plank as he looks back. "Lord Garmadon. It's been a while. It's Sensei no, correct? I cannot remember. He says mockingly to Garmadon then boards the boat. (Y/N) gives him a suspicious look after he said that. "Clouse." Garmadon says with bitterness at the man. "I see Master Chen still has you running his errands." He snips back at the man now known as Clouse. "I have to go, Dad. This is about Zane. It's about family." Lloyd tells his father as he gives him a definite expression. "If we're ever going to be whole again, I have to get on that ship." He states. "Last call. Are you in... or out?" Clouse announces. Lloyd turns away from his father as he boards the boat. l8 can't stop you, son, but I can join you." Garmadon states.

He walks to the plank to walk on it and onto the boat. "Sorry, no more room on the ship." Clouse says, walking away as two men with tattoos identical to the thugs pull back the plank. "No room?" Garmadon questions rhetorically then jump flips onto the end of the plank, making it tilt as he runs up it and pushes  a goon into the water as he lands on the boat. (Y/N) smirks as she feels Clouse's annoyance spark up and the man looks back to see Garmadon on the boat. "I stand corrected. There's room now." He says with a mocking smile. "Don't worry, I'm not here to compete. Only to look out for my interests." Garmadon states as he walks up to Lloyd and lays a hand on his shoulder. Lloyd smiles, secretly happy that his father is coming. "Let's ship out!" Clouse announces.

(Y/N)'s P.O.V.

Already I can feel something's off about this whole thing. That one guy, Clouse, is definitely not to be trusted. Garmadon also knowing about him and this Master Chen, saying of how he is dangerous, makes this whole tournament even more suspicious. The boat sails on and I look back to see the docks vanish within the fog. "Hey." I jump slightly and look to see Cole looking at me. "Come on. We need to stay together." He says. I nod my head and we walk together as we join with the others. But we stop as we meet with one of the contestants and fellow elemental master. A bearded man with a feather hanging around his neck and he demonstrates his powers as he grows a vine from the tip of his bamboo staff. I blink as my vision changes to see a light green aura and feeling something that is akin to nature: serene and peaceful while also being strong and formidable.

I feel myself be dragged away and I blink my eyes as my vision returns to normal. I keep up with Cole but notice that he still has hand holding mine. I raise a brow at that but don't pull away. I glance at Cole to see him focus ahead. It is nice to see him again. I shake my head as I look ahead to see we have caught up with the others. I look around to see more masters. One is punching a barrel with some large gauntlets and wore lots of armor. Oh, he's the Master of Metal. Then again it does look pretty obvious. I see a man with a unique wrapping around his head as he meditates and hovers in the air with some other objects floating too. That's gravity. I hear some music and look over to see a short man with an afro and wearing sunglasses as he plays a sitar. I blink and see his aura having a mostly clear color but with some teal added in and see ripples like waves. Oh, that's sound.

"You know him. You said his name's Clouse." I shake my head. Hearing Lloyd say that made me look over to see Clouse walking by along with some of those snake-tattooed men. Including that glass eye punk. "Don't be fooled by his attire. He is a Master of Dark Arts and Master Chen's number two." Garmadon informs. "Huh. I thought Master Chen's number two was an egg roll and fried rice." I look over  at Cole with a 'really' look. I also realized we were still holding hands and gently remove my hand from his. "Why haven't you or Wu ever told us there were others with powers like us?" Kai asks Garmadon. "Because there are some things we don't want you to know." I narrow my eyes because of the way Garmadon said that but keep quiet.

"You were led to believe you were special, yet you never questioned where your powers came from." Garmadon says. "Uh, are you implying that I'm not special?" My face drops at Jay's statement. "Everyone is special in their own way, Jay. No matter how cheesy it sounds." I groan out. (Catch that reference?) "Everyone on this ship is a descendent of an original elemental master." Garmadon informs. My eyes widen in realization, "Like how Lloyd is a descendant of the First Spinjitzu Master and me having my ancestor be the first Master of Life." I state. "Elemental Master? Who were they?" Lloyd asks. "They were the First Spinjitzu Master's guardians. Each endowed with an elemental power that has been passed down through generations." Garmadon says as he took some steps forward.

"If that's true, then so is my sister Nya. But she can't do what I can." Kai says. "Like accidentally set your hair on fire?" I tease, remembering back to when the guys could use their powers on their own after Lloyd divided his Golden Power. "We said we'd never mention that again!" He growls and I roll my eyes. (Hehehe~ 😈)"Yeah, yeah." I brush off. "Can't she?" We focus on Garmadon as he speaks, "Power lies in all of you. It only needs to be awoken." He says. "The fighters here serve no master and have managed to unlock their own true potential." He says. "For instance, that pale man." I look over to where he gesture and see a person dressed in some hip clothing with red pants and jacket along with a gold medallion and a fedora with golden sunglasses. But the eye catching thing about him is that he doesn't have a face. "A distant relative to the Master of Light. Watch closely and you'll see how he's stayed hidden all these years." As Garmadon spoke, the man completely vanished. Invisibility.

I jump as I feel something approach fast and I quickly move aside as I feel a rush of wind follow. A man appears, wearing mostly white with red highlights and wore red sunglasses. "Then there's Griffin Turner. Grandson to the Master of Speed." That would explain the clock in his red belt and hourglass embroidery on his clothing. "Hey. You can't lay a hand on me." Griffin says then speeds off. He runs around the boat then lands on a ledge where a lantern hangs from on the second level. The group and I walk along the deck. "Uh, Master of Speed? That's not an element." Jay complains. "So asks the Master of Lightning." (Ha! 🤣) "Pfft-!" I had to slap a hand on my mouth to keep myself from laughing out loud. Man, Garmadon has humor. "Oh, snap! He got you there." I hear Cole say.

I inhale deeply to calm myself as then arrive to a spot at the front of the boat that we could rest in. The only other occupant is a woman in an orange outfit with her hood up. I feel my powers flare up but instead of feeling her power, I got a not-so-good feeling from her. It made me uneasy. I say nothing as I lean back against a crate. "And, uh, who's she?" Kai asks. I had to shut off my powers so I would not feel his infatuation with the woman. "I don't know. Most of these people I have not seen. But they will all be gunning for you. You are Ninja. You serve with honor. Here, that means very little." Garmadon says. I look over at the woman again to find the metal man harassing her. I glare at him and tssk, "Very little indeed." I mutter. "Well, maybe honor means something to me." Kai says as he walks over to them.

I sigh and lean back. "Should we help him?" I hear Jay ask. I push myself off the crate and walk over to be beside Cole, "Naw. Let's not get in the way of him wooing his interest." I say. Things started to get heated between Kai and the metal man, which I heard his name is Karlof as he talks in the third person. "Save it for the tournament, Kai." Garmadon says. But things elevated and Karloff lifted Kai off the ground. "Unh! Just jump in whenever you feel like it!" Kai says. "You say Karloff not smart?" I sigh and facepalm. Why did you have to be wise guy, Kai? "I'd say Karlof is plenty smart not to finish something he can't finish." I remove my hand from my face and open my eyes after Lloyd said that. But that resulted in Kai getting sent flying back by a punch from Karlof. "Oops. Guess Karlof not smart." A fellow wise guy, huh? "Then you won't be much of a challenge, will ya?" I wisecrack myself. (Oh!)

The guys move towards him, but Garmadon stops them. "Kay started this, he can finish it." He states. The fight starts and as Kai sent fire at Karlof, the man blocks them with his gauntlets then coats himself in metal and grows a little. Impressive. I stop focusing on the fight between as I then look back at the woman. I see her look at the fight at times. I remember as to how my powers told me how she is not all innocent. Why else would would I feel unease from her? Like she's hiding something. But then my powers flare up as I feel Kai and Karlof still fight and I rush over to them. I see Kai on his back and Karloff is about to give him the final blow. I freeze for a moment, reminded of when I could have helped Zane but was stopped. Nothing is stopping me this time.

I feel power surge through me and before I know it, I rush over and block the punch. I didn't flinch as it made contact with my hand. Karlof glares at me but I look back at him with a neutral expression. We stand off for a bit and I narrow my eyes, daring him to try anything. "Enough!" Someone said. Karlof steps away and returns to normal as I are back as well. I look back to see that it was Clouse that shouted. "I'm sorry if I was cold to you earlier." I look over to see the woman lend her hand to Kai and he takes it. I blink and see their auras only to see the woman's turn red for a moment then back to bright orange. Huh? "We're here. Welcome to Chen's Island." Clouse says.

Kai and I make our way over to the rest of the team as the sun starts to rise and an island comes into view. It was rather large but smaller than Ninjago. I felt some suspicion with my powers and look back to see Clouse disappear behind some crates. I look back at the island as we get closer. "I swore never to return." Garmadon says softly. "You know, you should never swear. It's a agin of weak verbal skills." Really, Jay? "'Swore' as in a promise, Jay." I correct him. "Oh." He says. "If Zane's on that island, we'll find him. We have to." Lloyd states. I inhale deeply. Zane... I feel a hand on my shoulder and know that it is Cole. He always helped ground me.

I also realized that if I'm close enough, and if he's here, I could sense him. I take a deep breath and close my eyes. Please.... Please, be here. I see something. Two individuals. "I hold all the cards." A man says than laughs manically. He leaves and I focus on the second individual. I feel from them... loss, confusion but also... life. The figure opens his eyes and they are... (Can you guess what?) I gasp as I open my eyes. "Zane." I whisper.

(Okay! Next chapter, the tournament will officially begin. Stay tuned for more!)
