Never Trust a Snake
(So sorry to not update in a while, had some stuff to deal with. Also I wanted to point out a few things: Every chapter will start in (Y/N)'s P.O.V., and the reason for why she refers to Wu as Master is because she doesn't see the difference between master or sensei, but prefers to call him master because it makes sense for her. Also because I often heard Wu be referred to master more often. Anyway , enjoy the chapter.)
Breathe in. Breathe out. Master Wu said that meditation would help me better control my powers. I have a goal and I'm going to achieve it. I then see the others, their auras to be specific. I see the boys getting up, Nya doing some work for a project, and I see Wu enjoying some tea. I swear he drinks that stuff all the time, he must have an obsession. But I focus harder and I see further away and see..... Lloyd.
He's still with the Fangpyre but he doesn't appear to be in danger. I then see something else. I could see something more, it appears to be a faint outline of..... green? No way. Could it be..... *Knock* *Knock* *Knock* I jump and hop onto my feet, ready to fight. "(Y/N), it's time for training. Please meet on the deck." Oh, it's Wu. I let out a sigh, "Okay, coming!" I reply. I hear his footsteps fade and I look in my mirror and quickly fixed my hair. I make my way out of my room and head to the deck, but what I saw of Lloyd.... It can't be. Yet again... Augh! I'll think about it later.
I make it to the deck outside and I see the guys already out and wearing their Gis on. We're in the water so we can be safe from the snakes until we need to take action. "Hey, (Y/N)! Good morning!" I look to see Cole waving at me. I wave back and walk to stand next to him. "You good? You looked like something is bothering you." He says. "Oh, I'm fine. Just want to get some training in." I reply. "You're like the only one who's most eager for training." Jay chuckles. I look at him with a raised brow in confusion, "What do you mean?" I ask. He then scratches the back of his head and looks away sheepishly. "Uh, nothing. It's just you're really good at fighting, so you must train a lot." He says, smiling at me.
I blink in surprise at that. "Uh, thanks. It helps take my mind off things." I reply shyly. "It's fine. Everyone has their own way of dealing with certain things." I feel and arm wrap around my shoulders and see Cole giving me a warm smile. I smile back at him and then give Jay one too. Then I hear laughter and look to see Kai. Oh, forgot he was here. "Well this is something, Zane's a little slow and (Y/N)'s smiling. Anyway, what did you dream about?" He says, then asks Zane. I give him a frown.
"I saw the falcon again." Zane answers and I give him my attention. "Whoa, Zane, every time you see that bird, something big happens." Jay starts and I feel Cole remove his arm from me. "First, it led you to the secret treehouse," Jay starts. "Then it led you to the Bounty." Cole adds. "Alright! Stretches." Master Wu speaks up and we all focus. "First: the Swooping Crane." He starts, the guys and I copying him. "This time it showed me the Green Ninja." Zane whispers. "The Green Ninja?!?!" The others not so quietly repeat. I roll my eyes, here we go again. "That looks like Shocked Monkey." I look and Master is right, they do look like monkeys. I moved to be on Cole's other side so I wouldn't be caught up in this 'Green Ninja' nonsense again. "Bad form, more focus." Master says, and turns around.
"You can't just drop a bomb like that, spill the beans!" Jay whispers but I focus on Master. "Yeah, what else did you see?" Kai asks. Come on, seriously? "He was fighting Lord Garmadon." Zane answers. "That's what the prophecy said, that the Green Ninja would defeat the Dark Lord. But did you have a chance to see which one of us was him?" Kai says and I hear the others urge on. Oh. Oh boy. I feel shaky. Why do I feel shaky, is this normal? "I could not tell. He shared attributes of each one us possess." Zane answers. "Now! Pinching Crab." Master speaks and we assume the stance.
"Well, tell us everything and don't spare any detail. There has to be clue which one us gets to be the Green-Oh ow ow ow ow ow! Hey!" I look to see Kai gets his hair pulled by Master. I silently giggled at that. "What was so important to ignore my teachings?" Master asks us. "Uh, nothing." "It was nothing, Sensei." "Yeah, we don't talk when you teach." "Everyone was paying attention." They all deny, I roll my eyes at that. Typical. "Since all appear to be lacking in focus then you can all share in the punishment." Master states. Eh, I'm cool with that. It will get my mind off of... uh, things. "What?" "Punishment?" "It was all Zane!" "I was merely answering their questions!" The boys complained.
"No free time and no video games. The rest of day can be used for training and tomorrow." Master states. Yes. "Training? For how long?" Kai asks. "Until you can answer this simple riddle. What is the best way to defeat your enemy?" Master says. "Easy, with a sword." "Your fists! "Spinjitzu!" "Tornado of Creation?" All the guys guessed, but I know that none of those are the answer. Master sighs and walks up the steps, "Pace yourselves, you have a lot of training ahead of you. Make sure to sharpen your mind as well as your Spinjitzu." He tells us. I bow to him respectfully to him while I look to find the guys look down, disheartened.
Cole sighs as he goes to pick up a staff, "'What's the best way to defeat an enemy?' Ahh, it could be anything!" He says, twirling the staff over his head. I move so that I could have some space then I start to stretch. "Come on guys we're smart, we can figure this out." I look to see Jay, the training equipment activating and rising from the deck, doing some flips over the weapons. I hear a grunt and look to find Kai had delivered a blow to a punching bag. I hear a door close and look to see Wu was nowhere to be seen.
"Yeah, but let's hear more about this dream." I look to find the Kai, Jay, and Cole gather around Zane. "Let me just say, the Green Ninja is awesome." Zane says. I groan loudly and facepalm. This is going to be a long day.
While the guys were busy listening to Zane explain his dream about the 'Green Ninja.' I was in the middle of doing a handstand, my eyes closed too as I focus on blocking out any distractions. I then see the guy's auras, but then I see Lloyd again and.... the green.... Nope! "Argh!" I lost focus and fell on my back. "Ow." This is getting ridiculous. "(Y/N), you okay?" I look to see Cole looking down at me with a worried look and the guys joined in, all giving me concerned looks. I close my eyes and sigh, "Yes. I'm fine." I answer and help myself up.
I crack my neck a little and sigh in relief. I turn to look at the guys and find that they still had worried eyes. "What?" I ask them. "It's just... Uh," Kai starts but trails off. "We never seen you slip before. Ow!" Jay says and that resulted with Cole whacking his head. I raise a brow, "So? I lost focus." I state. "What Jay meant to say was, you never really lose focus. Something must be bothering you and if there is you can talk to us." Zane clarifies.
I look to the ground in thought. The guys don't really like Lloyd and if I tell them what I saw, what's been bothering me, it could get out of hand real fast. I let out a long sigh, "It's fine, really. But since you peaked my curiosity, what was in your dream, Zane?" I ask. As intended, Zane told me about his dream and how Garmadon had returned and was about to finish him off until the Green Ninja revealed himself and had traits of each of the guys' powers and abilities. It was a perfect distraction to take the attention off me. "Huh, I think that may have been some kind of vision, Zane. Like what the Green Ninja is capable of." I pitched.
"And that vision tells that I'm the Green Ninja." Kai proudly states. "What are you talking about?! He had incredible strength that could lift a cargo and saved Zane's life. It's me." Cole argues. "No, no, did you miss the part of the story where the guy pulled out nunchucks? I have nunchucks." Jay intervenes, showing off his nunchucks for emphasis. "I think you're all missing the point to this dream, the point is the falcon flew on his arm and it was my dream. So naturally, it's me." Zane clarifies. "I think we can cross Cole off the list, I could have lifted ten times-" "Whoa, whoa, whoa! Cross me off the list? Anyone could hold nunchucks!" Cole interrupts Jay. "Since you are not training, you must have already found the answer to my riddle. What is the best way to defeat your enemy?" I look to see Wu now making his presence known.
I look to find the guys thinking, "Uh, the best way to defeat your enemy is to.... train, Sensei?" Kai guesses. I roll my eyes and smack my forehead. "Feeble and incorrect. Maybe more training will help you focus. Remember what happened to your vehicles when you lost focus. A razor-sharp weapon is an extension of a razor-sharp mind." Wu says, backing away and down a staircase into the ship, the doors closing on their own. Must he always be so dramatic? I stretch my arms, hearing the guys groan in dismay. "How am I suppose to focus if I don't know who the Green Ninja is." Jay complains. "I don't want to be training all day. Let's work together on this riddle. We can figure it out."
I smirk. Perfect. With them busy, I don't have talk about what I saw. Now for some more stretching. "Out of curiosity, (Y/N), why did you ask about my dream?" Crap. I look at Zane and find the others looking at me with curious looks. "Yeah, why did you ask, (Y/N)?" Kai asks. Darn it! I was so close. Why do I feel nervous and why is my heart beating like crazy? "Hey, you good?" I felt something on my shoulder and my instincts kick in. I grab them and throw them down onto the ground. Hard. When I look to see who it is, oh..... it's Jay.
Crap again. I let go of him and back away. "I'm so sorry! I don't know what came over me!" I apologize. I hear Jay groan. "It's okay. I shouldn't have done that." He musters out. Cole and Kai walk over to him and help him up. I put my hands on my head to try and calm down. I don't get it. Why am I so nervous? I tried to get the spotlight off me and now I'm right in the center of it. "(Y/N), breathe." I hear Zane. I didn't even realize that I closed my eyes and started breathing really fast. I lower my hands and lift my head up to see Zane standing next to me, his hands on my shoulders. I didn't feel them.
"(Y/N), it's okay. We're here." I look to my left to see Cole giving me a concerned look. "Just take a deep breath, hold for five seconds then slowly exhale." He instructs, laying a hand on my shoulder. I do as he says and take a deep breath. I hold for five seconds then exhale slowly. Wow, that actually works. "Better?" Cole gently asks. I nod, "Yeah, thanks." I tell him. "You looked like you were having some kind of attack." I look and see that Zane was standing next to Kai. "If you don't want to talk about it you could have said so." Kai adds. "Yeah, we're here if you need to talk." Jay says, but then holds his arm in pain. "Man, how strong are you?!?" He asks, incredulously. I wince a little in sympathy. "Sorry, and thanks again. Now let's get to solving that riddle." I state.
Lloyd's P.O.V.
"'Had you released the Constrictai, the Venomari, or heaven forbid the Anacondrai, then we would have had a tussle.'" Stupid Hypnobrai, stupid Fangpyre. I'll show them not to mess with Lloyd Garmadon. I look at the map and the look to see a giant rock shaped like a fang. This is it! "I found it." The tomb holding the Anacondrai. These guys are suppose to be the most feared snakes to ever exist. Perfect for my revenge and ruling Ninjago.
But then I remember the offer that Purple Ninja gave me. Why was she so nice to me? Why did she offer her hand? Did she.... actually.... wanted to be.... my friend? "Augh! Get your mind out of the gutter, Lloyd. You're the son of Lord Garmadon, this is your destiny." I talk to myself. I mean, there isn't anyone around. I run towards the tomb and stop at the door. Alright. Here we go. I reach out and open it.
(Y/N)'s P.O.V.
After my little 'attack,' we all have been working on trying to solve Wu's riddle. "Anyone got a solution to Sensei's riddle?" I pause my stretching and look to Cole as he twirls a staff. "It can't be that hard. What's the best way to defeat an enemy?" Jay says while doing some flips. I stop my stretching all together and get up from doing the splits. "Zane, you're smart. What is it?" Kai asks, punching a punching bag. I mean what else do you call it? "I do not know, but I sense Sensei is going to keep us here if we don't work together and find an answer." Zane replies, doing a form that resembles Swooping Crane. "That bothers me, because while we're here working, that means the enemy is playing." Cole emphasizes by slamming the staff onto the deck.
"Okay, okay. How about this, how often have we fought the Serpentine?" I question them. They all pause and look at me. "But we wouldn't have to be fighting the Serpentine if we....." I trail off, hoping they would understand what I'm implying. "...Had whooped their butts together!" Jay exclaims. I gave him a deadpanned look. "Yeah, we're unstoppable fighting together." Kai backs up Jay. Really? Did they not get what I'm trying to say. "So that's it! Let's go tell Wu." Cole states, dropping his staff as he and the guys head off to tell Wu.
I facepalm, "I swear, these boys." I groan. I inhale deeply and remove my hand from my face and follow after them. Teamwork is great and all but I don't think that's what Wu is trying to teach us. I was really trying to get them to understand what they did wrong that started this whole mess: bullying Lloyd. I mean come on! He's a kid and he doesn't have anyone. He wants to be like his father... to be.... closer to him.
I feel my powers flare up and I stop to look. I made it to the entrance of Wu's room and look inside to find the guys standing attentive to Master. "Oh, you must have found the answer to 'what is the best way to defeat your enemy?'" Wu says. "We have, Sensei." Cole starts. "It's-on three, guys-one, two," "Teamwork!" The guys exclaim, holding their fists out in the center of them. "Is this what you all think?" Wu asks them. I lean on the doorway and cross my arms as the guys say yes. "Sadly, you are all wrong." Master replies, then goes back to painting. The guys groan and complain that they have yet to get the answer.
They soon leave and I enter the room. I bow to Master, "Sorry about that. I thought I got them to understand what I was trying to say but-" A loud noise blares and I assume a fighting stance. "It is only the alarm, (Y/N). We must head to the bridge first before any fighting is to take place." Master explains. Welp, that was embarrassing.
After getting over my embarrassment, I head to the bridge. I enter and make my way to Nya. "Break it down for me, sis." Kai says as he and Jay stand next to me and await Nya's response. "Lloyd and a serpentine have overtaken Darkley's Boarding School for Bad Boys." She explains. Lloyd. "That place is a cesspool for the crooked and misbehaved." Jay says. "Well, doesn't mean they don't need our help. Step on it." Cole counters. Zane runs over and does a flip, pressing the button. I feel the Bounty move as it takes off to Darkley's. I put on my hood and head out, standing with Nya and Master as the guys head onto the the deck. "Ninja-Go!" They exclaim. And with that, we are on our way.
I make my way down the stairs and grab the railings as I watch the sky. I close my eyes and take a deep breath. I focus on what I want to see and, soon enough, I see Lloyd and I see something else too. It was certainly the longest snake I've seen yet, but there is something else about it that does not sit well with me. Other than being a vengeful snake that wants to get back at the species that locked his own away. I open my eyes, "I promise. There is a better way. I'm going to help you, Lloyd." I mutter to myself. They say third time's the charm.
I look down and find that we are right above the school. Man, I really need to pay more attention to my surroundings. "Looks quiet down there. Should infiltrate using stealth?" Zane says. I look over at him, but then Kai walks up to him. "Ah, we've done that. What about using our golden weapons that turn into vehicles?" He pitches. I hear some taps of metal and look over to see Cole making some adjusts on his vehicle. How did he even summon it without any of us noticing? "I'm still working out the kinks on that. Anyone have any other good ideas?" He replies. "Hmm. Well, I have one idea, but you guys gotta trust me." Jay pitches. I can tell in his tone that it was not a good idea. "Oh, I don't think I like the sound of this." Kai groans.
And I was right. "Jay, I don't know about this." Kai speaks up about our current predicament. So Jay's plan was to have us drop the anchor with us on it. "For once, I agree with Kai." I admit. "Just hold on tight." Jay says, then fives the signal for Nya to drop the anchor. And let me tell you, it is most certainly, absolutely, terrifying. I hold onto the chain tightly and close my eyes as I hear the guys scream.
I feel my powers flare up, this time being stronger, and I open my eyes to see that I put up a shield around all of us. But when I look down, I closed my eyes for impact. We crashed through the roof, but it wasn't over. We ended up going through three floors. I feel like I'm about to hurl. I hold onto the anchor to ground myself and keep whatever I had down. "(Y/N), are you all right?" I slowly open my eyes to find Zane standing next to me. I nod my head, "Yep. All good now." I respond. "That's great, so can you lower the shield now?" I hear Kai. I look to find the purple shield still up, so I take a deep breath and make it go away.
"Thanks for the protection, (Y/N)." I hear Cole thank me. "No problem. Oh, and Jay," I look to the blue ninja as he gives me his attention. I give him a death glare. "We are NEVER doing that again. EVER." I state. He gives me a scared look. "Yup! Got it." He musters out. I relax and look to find students tied up and, oh my gosh, the two idiotic skeletons. Why are they even here. Cole walks up to them and raises his scythe. The boys whimper in fear but Cole cuts the rope, freeing them. They run off to get to safety. "Stay out of school, kids." Cole quips.
I make my way to stand next to him as I glare up at the two knuckleheads hanging from the ceiling along with their mouths taped shut. I place a hand on my hip, "Well, what do we have here? Helmet and Peeper. If you think on causing any trouble in Ninjago, we'll be sure to leave only your heads behind. Okay?" I 'politely' tell them. They nod their heads frantically and fearfully. I turn to look at Cole and nod my head. He nods back and cuts them down. The idiots ran into each other several times before running off. The more idiotic one following his friend after having gone the wrong way. I roll my eyes at their stupidity.
"He's on the top floor. Let's get him!" Kai exclaims and I look up to see Lloyd on the roof. "Ninja-Go!" The guys shout. Cole climbs up the chain, Kai and Zane do Spinjitzu and go up the stairs, and Jay goes to take the elevator. I roll my eyes and decide to take a more unusual way. I see a window and walk over to it, open it up and exit through it. I look at the building and take a few steps back. I crack my neck and start running towards the building. But before I ram into it, I cartwheel then back flip and then focus my powers in my legs and launch myself to the top.
I admit, having powers is awesome. I make it to the top and flip forward, take out my fans, and land on the roof, battle ready. I see Lloyd and the serpentine that's with him and, wait, is that an Anacondrai? But why is only one here? "Shocked to see me?" I look over to find Jay had burst through the door to the roof and spins his nunchucks. "Do something!" I look back at Lloyd and see the snake take a rolled up paper from him. "Wha-what are you doing? I thought you were my friend?" I could hear the emotion in Lloyd's voice. "All you want was to make the Serpentine your slaves! Well sorry dear boy, I have other plans." The snake said before vanishing.
I was about to use my powers to try and find him, but then I looked at Lloyd. A fight for another day. I see Lloyd try to run but there isn't a lot of roof. Jay swings his nunchucks and slowly walks to Lloyd. I put away my fans and walk to Lloyd also, but then I hear a loud noise and feel Wu and Nya close by. I turn my head to see the Bounty hover next to the roof. They jump onto the roof and the rest of the guys made join us. "Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon! You come here right now!" Wu orders.
"I got him." I hear Jay and see him about to touch Lloyd. I feel something in me snapped. I feel power surge through my body and before I know it, I'm already right next to Jay, holding his arm. "Ah! Uh, (Y/N)? You-Augh! Ow!-You're squeezing my arm." I hear Jay and regain my senses. I loosen my grip but don't remove my hand yet. "You've done enough." I look back to the rest of the boys. "All of you have done enough." I state. I look at Jay with a stern look, "I will handle it." I say and let him go. Jay puts his hands up in surrender and backs away. I sigh and look at Lloyd. He had a scared look and I remove my hood and give him a gentle smile.
"It's okay. And if you want, my offer still stands." I gently tell him, lending my hand to him. He looks at it skeptically then looks to me as I smile encouragingly at him. He reaches his hand out to mine, pausing a little but then grasps my hand. I feel my smile widen and give his hand a gentle squeeze. I gently pull him along as we make our way to the Bounty. "What should we do with him? Wash his mouth out with soup for a year?" "Ground him indefinitely?" "Have him sit in a corner for a century?" I hear the guys suggest Lloyd's punishment. I turn to them and give them a death glare, they shut up and look at me with fear. Yeah, that's right. "I know exactly what we must do." Master Wu states with stern tone.
I look at Master as I feel Lloyd huddle closer to me. I hear him gulp in fear and I will fight Wu if I have to for this child.
Third Person P.O.V.
The Bounty was perched on a safe, seclusive area. After what happened at Darkley's and now having Lloyd with them, it was now night and Wu was reading Lloyd a bedtime story. (Y/N) was listening attentively, sitting and leaning against the wall, next to Lloyd as she too listens to his uncle with a smile on his face. "And that is why Jack the Rabbit never trusts a snake. The End." Wu finishes the story, closing the book and laying it beside him on the floor. Lloyd lets out a tired sigh, "If my dad read me that book, I would never have made that mistake. I'm sorry, Uncle." Lloyd apologizes, remorse in his voice.
(Y/N) gives him a sympathetic look but she remains quiet, as Wu stands up from his chair and kneels down to tuck Lloyd in. "Oh, you do not need to apologize. I am sure that if your father were still here, it would be the first book he read. Good night, nephew. Sweet dreams." Wu says to Lloyd, comforting and patting the boy's head. Lloyd sighs tiredly, "Good night, uncle." Lloyd says, closing his eyes and drifting to sleep. (Y/N) felt a pain in her chest as she watched the two. She never had anyone to read her bedtime stories nor tuck her to sleep. She didn't ponder much longer as Wu covers her with a blanket.
Surprised, she looks up to find Wu giving her a soft smile. "I can tell you do not wish to leave him, but don't stay up too late." He tells her in a low and soft tone. (Y/N)'s surprise turns into gratefulness as she smiles at the long-bearded man. "Thanks, Wu. It.... It means... a lot." She thanks him. Wu gives her smile as adjusts the blanket for her.
The guys, however, watched the whole thing and are utterly flabbergasted. They could not believe that Lloyd had gotten off so easy and (Y/N) was being so soft. They then moved out of view as Wu got up and exited the room. He walks up the stairs and to the deck, where the guys walk up to him. "I don't get it, Sensei." Kai starts. "Why isn't the little brat getting punished?" Jay asks frustratingly. "Yeah, we had to train all day and he gets read a bedtime story? It's not fair." Cole says in disbelief. Wu hums before turning around to face his students, "You're right, I have nearly forgotten. Why are you not still training? Did you find the answer to the riddle?" He asks of them.
Kai lets out a tired sigh, "No, Sensei. We still don't know what the best way to defeat your enemy is." Kai answers truthfully as he and the rest of the guys hang their heads low and turn around to walk away, feeling defeated. "It is to make them your friend." Wu tells them. The guys stop and turn to Wu as they all 'oooohhh'-ed at the answer finally being revealed. "But it seemed that one of you already knew the answer long before the Serpentine were released." Wu adds. The guys looked at him with confusion until it clicked in their minds.
They make their way back to Lloyd's room and see the boy still asleep but also see (Y/N) had fallen asleep also. But there was also floating small orbs in the room. They had a soft purple hue and made the room look peaceful and beautiful. The guys look on in amazement and look at (Y/N) again. They saw she had laid a hand on one of Lloyd's leg. The guys had learned two things that night; one, the best way to defeat an enemy, and two, there was so much more they did not know about their purple-clad friend.
