Clockwork ~ Lloyd
You groaned in boredom. The stupid ship to Chen's what's-it-called place was taking absolutely forever. Groaning again, you looked up at the sky. Still dark. Just as it was, when you had checked six hours ago.
The ship you were in seemed normal enough, and so did most of the people onboard. Many of the elemental Masters had interesting powers, such as gravity and sound and Amber and form. Now, the ninja are the ones who had your attention at its fullest.
The one in red, Kai was his name, had a tendency to pick fights he couldn't finish, and he had only been on board for eight hours. Cole, the earth ninja, was dressed in black and sat on the corner of a crate with a scowl plastered across his face. Jay was looking around and playing with his element. You couldn't tell if it was electricity or lightning, so you made a mental note to ask him later. Garmadon, the one you had assumed was their Sensei or a close friend at least, was keeping a keen eye on the creepy guy who let you on the boat as well as the ninja. Lloyd was the interesting one. You knew he had a power, but he hadn't used it, so you had no idea what it was.
The element that you had wasn't exactly an element, to be exact. Yours was time- simple, boring, non-interesting time. With nothing else to do, you grabbed an apple from off the tabletop and began eating it. It didn't take you very long to finish it, and being the lazy you who didn't want to get up for another, you retraced the apple's time until it was a full red apple once more.
A tap on your shoulder sent you spinning and raising the apple, poised the through. To your shock, and confusion too, it was Lloyd. His pale blonde hair blew in the wind, and his dark green eyes shine in the ship's light. A smile crossed his face.
"Hi. I'm Lloyd, what's your name?" He asked, sitting down next to you on the bench.
"(Y/n)," you stated simply. It wasn't meant to come off as rude, you just didn't feel like talking much at the moment. Your tone must have been harsher than intended, because he kinda looked like a kicked puppy.
"Look, sorry. Wasn't trying to be mean there," you apologised. He quickly perked back up at that.
The two of you awkwardly sat in silence for a few moments, before he asked, "So what's your element? You don't seem like you should be here."
"Pfft," you scoffed. "It's because I don't have an element."
He raised an eyebrow.
"Nah, mine's time. Yours?" He looked pretty dumbfounded at the question.
"Really? You don't know about the 'Green Ninja' or the prophesy?" He looked pretty dumbfounded, and, well, frazzled about you not knowing who he was.
"Oh, that? Yep. Light, yeah?" You asked.
He shook his head. "Close. Mine's energy."
After a moment, you 'huh'ed at it.
The silence returned.
"So...time, huh? That sounds pretty cool," he stated.
You shook your head in disagreement. "No. What it is, is enduring, tiring, boring, not very helpful, and torture."
"How so?" Lloyd asked.
"There is no simple way to explain it. Do you know the game Undertale? Its like that. Every time I'm about to die, everything 'resets'. Granted,
I can set back time at my own will, but it is difficult and annoying. Plus, living in an infinite amount of realities isn't exactly fun. You can see everything. Such as, there are some where you aren't the Green Ninja, or some where something as simple as Kai's first word was 'mama' instead of 'papa'."
"In other words, every tiny thing created another alters the universe?" He questions.
Nodding your head, you agreed.
"Again, it's difficult to explain. Oh, and if I'm spacing out, don't you dare knock me out of the trance."
"Got it. No braking your trances," Lloyd replied.
You covered your ears right before a loud blaring rang grouch out the ship. Then, over the speakers, a voice said, "We are here."
-----------
Cole and Jay were at each other's throats again. Kai was talking to Garmadon, and Lloyd was eating his food.
"Do you think he even has an element?" Kai whispered to Garmadon, motioning the the figure in a dark grey sweatshirt with the hood pulled up.
"Why don't you go see for yourself, Kai," the older male responded.
"What?!?!?!" Kai whisper-yelled. "Are you insane? He looks like he could kill us if we so much as said hi!" Garmadon sighed heavily.
A slight headache hit you suddenly as you saw the two timelines splitting get again. 1) Kai asks you what your element is, or 2) you g-
"Hi." You glared up at Kai. "See? What did I tell you!" He hissed at Garmadon. "Hey, so, me and my friends over there were wondering, what is you element?"
The only response he received was silence, which was followed by more silence.
"Uh...I'm gonna go now..." Kai said awkwardly.
When he sat down, you looked at him, your (e/c) eyes baring into his skull. Once his eyes met yours, you looked down at his food tray. He looked down, and raised an eyebrow.
"Food?" He guessed.
"Time."
Kai grunted before turning away. "Time? Is that even an element?" He asked Lloyd.
"What? Oh, time? Yeah. That's (Y/n)'s element, why?" He asked, completely unaware of what just happened.
Kai's jaw almost dropped open. "Wait, so he is actually a SHE?"
"Uh..." Lloyd trailed off, confused. "Yeah."
After grumbling and making incoherent noises, Kai looked back down and raised his hand to eat, but found a pile of mold and dust. Snickering from the table over made him snap his head in that said direction.
You had your hand pulled up to cover your snickers, which clearly failed.
Kai slammed his fist into the table, a noticeable burn mark left in the wood when he raised his hand remained. It infuriated him that he couldn't see your eyes, yet you could see his. For some reason it irked him to no end.
"We're all- Wait what happened to your food?" Cole cuts himself off from his story he was telling Jay and asks Kai.
When Kai whipped his head around and raised his arm to point, he stopped. You weren't there anymore.
----------
You paced back and forth in your room, most certainly engraving a noticeable dent in the floor.
Flash.
Another timeline burned through your mind. This one was much more clear though.
"Will the Masters of Time and Energy please make their way to their assigned arena?"
Your fist slammed down on the bed frame.
"DANG IT!" By now the entire hotel that the Masters slept in could hear your building rage. Even though it had only been a few days, you had a slight crush on Lloyd, and a feeling of obligation to help him. After all, he was about to be neck-deep in trouble if he wasn't already.
Flash.
You held Lloyd by his neck as you pinned him to the arena wall. His friends were about to jump in and save him, but were cut off by Garmadon, whose eyes were as wide as the rest of the ninja.
A snarl crept across your face, and you tossed him carelessly aside, a sickening crack following the movement. You didn't flinch, not a single bit.
Lloyd struggled to move back. What little movement he had made was made utterly useless when you stalked up to him.
The front half of your brain was beginning to hurt like a little.
As you looked him in his dark emerald eyes, you grabbed his throat and raised him high in the air. And then you delivered a wicked blow to his side. While doing so, you slipped a tiny clock into his pocket.
"NO!" The vision was becoming blurry. Your eyelids began to fall. It was another timeline possibility.
Flash.
This one was much more passive and heartwarming than the first. It was of you and Lloyd making out in a back room of the hotel.
Lloyd's lips moved in sync with yours. Your tongues met in an epic battle for dominance. After some time, you won and began claiming the territory of his mouth as your own. Eventually, the two of you needed to pull away for air.
"Lloyd, I-" Clouse knocked on the door. You could tell who it was immediately because of his stupid knocking pattern.
"Are you two ready for the...final event?" He asked.
Lloyd pulled you into a tight hug. With one hand, he created a sphere of energetic. He wrapped his other around your waist and kept you close, your face buried into his chest.
The two of you would have been blushing had it not been for the fact-
Instantly you cleared the timeline.
You quickly sat down, panting, resting your head in your hands.
"Oh Dear.." A voice echoed through your mind.
(H/c) hair flew as you whipped your head around. Eventually they settled on the frame of Neuro, the Master of Mind, who was sitting on your bed about a foot away from you.
"Are you alright?" He asked, concerned.
"If you're here, do you think I'm okay?" You hissed.
Neuro didn't look phased by this though, because he continued to talk.
"You know, your mind is an incredibly loud one." You almost snarled a 'Thanks Captain Obvious' at him, but refrained from doing so.
"So?" You snappishly yelped.
"You are worried," he observed.
The fact that he was in your room was annoying enough, but that fact that he was going through your mind was even more so. He (clearly) must have realised that, because Neuro quickly apologised.
"No no, it's fine." A smile flashed across your face. It was quickly replaced by a horrible sensation of dread.
"What is it (Y/n)?" The male asked.
Because you had erased the other timeline, it meant that...
"The other timeline will become reality," Neuro finished for you.
"Yes, I suppose." Sighing, you pulled yourself up from the bedside. "Thanks."
The mind reader looked rather puzzled. "For what?" He asked.
"For being here."
He curtly nodded before heading out the door, leaving you to your own thoughts of horror and dread.
----------------
"Will the Masters of Time and Energy please make their way to their assigned arena?"
It was happening. You needed to find Lloyd, quick, before the battle.
Grabbing his arm, you yanked him around hurriedly.
"Lloyd!" You hissed.
"What?" The green ninja yelled. He immediately sighed in relief when he saw it was only you. A hint of regret shine in his eyes too.
"Whatever happens out there, I'm...sorry." You were running out of time to explain, so you ran the opposite direction to get ready for the impending battle.
"Wait!" He called out to you. What's that supposed to mean?"
Tears flooded your eyes as you made your way to the arena. By the time you had gotten there, they were all gone and cleared up. In your back pocket was a clock with the time set back to 11:36. On the back was scribbled 'LLOYD'.
As the gates to the arena opened, you out on a brave face and a look of hate in your eyes.
He ran out to greet you in a similar form. To the plain eye, it would be any normal battle. But to a keen and observant eye, you would notice that the attacks were more vicious than two normal people fighting. They would immediately concluded that they hated each other.
Deep inside, you could feel it nearing. The future bass becoming the present, and that future had been foretold.
He hurled an energy ball toward you. Last second, you dodged it, making it crash into the viewing stands. Instead, you lunged forward and caught him by the throat.
You held Lloyd by his neck as you pinned him to the arena wall. His friends were about to jump in and save him, but were cut off by Garmadon, whose eyes were as wide as the rest of the ninja. Even from the distance between you, you could hear their silent prayer as to not let Lloyd loose.
A snarl crept across your face, and you tossed him carelessly aside, a sickening crack following the movement. You didn't flinch, not a single bit. You knew you couldn't, or else the act would be broken and your plan wouldn't work, just like Lloyd's right ankle - broken and useless.
Lloyd struggled to move back. What little movement he had made was turned utterly useless when you stalked up to him. Not once did your gaze falter. You so badly wanted to run up to him, to apologise for hurting him, for lord's sake kiss him for the sake of it! But you couldn't.
As you looked him in his dark emerald eyes, you grabbed his throat and raised him high in the air, you eyes making contact. Pure fear laced his eyes as they widened and then closed shut, waiting for the blow to be delivered. You then sent a wicked hard blow to his side. While doing so, you slipped a tiny clock into his pocket.
Lloyd fell back into the ground. Everyone could see the blood seep through through his green tournament shirt and dribbling into the rocky ground, forming a pool around him. Up close, you noticed a small stream of the red life-sustaining substance dripping down his chin and down his neck.
You bent down nice and low by his ear, which was cut up badly. Mentally, you winced and cringed at the sight of Lloyd. Staggered breaths filled the silence.
"I'm sorry," you whispered. "Turn the clock back, and we can talk."
You pulled away from him with a sickly grin spread across your face.
"See you later, Lloyd!" You cried out in a cheery voice as you skipped on over to the pedestal where the Jade Blade lay, completely forgotten by everyone in the audience until now.
Your hand firmly gripped the hilt of the blade and you yanked it free, holding it up for the world to see.
"Master of Time wins, Master of Energy...LOOSES!!!!" Master Chen yelled, a devilish smirk playing on his face. Many people from the crowd gasped as a trap door (of course) opened up from beneath Lloyd, making the legendary green ninja fall down into who knows where.
You knew you were in neck-deep trouble as soon as you left the arena. As it turned out, you were right.
Cole was mad, Kai was to shocked to do anything, Jay was terrified yet angry, but Garmadon was the worst of them all. He was pissed.
He quickly knocked you down to the ground.
"Stop!" You pleaded.
"Why should we?" Jay shot back.
"At least let me explain!"
Cole snorted. "Right. As if there was anything to explain!"
Just as they were about to do who the heck knows what to you, you felt it happen. Lloyd was turning back the clock!
Everything went black, and then it was back.
Your eyes quickly readjusted themselves once they realized where you were - Chen's ship.
Kai was groaning about loosing the fight he had recently started, and lost, to Karloff. After a few minutes of searching, you spotted Lloyd, who was inspecting the clock he held in his hand. He looked up, and his green eyes met your own
(e/c) ones.
Lloyd stood up and strolled on over, trying to act as casual as possible. He sat next to you and remained quiet.
"Sorry," you quickly apologized. "For all of it. I put unneeded pressure on you."
The male waved it off. "Hey, no issue. It was a bit weird finding myself back here though, I must admit."
A smile cracked on your face. "It's always the same the first time for everyone."
He held his hand out, the small clock in it. "I believe this is yours."
You put your hand on his and proceeded to wrap Lloyd's fingers around the small device. "Keep it."
He smiled. Just as he opened your mouth to say something, he was cut off by the speaker.
"We are here."
Your eyes met, and you smirked. "You ready for round two?" You asked.
"You bet I am."
