On The Run

Honestly, why did she even try at this point. After waking up five times from her nap due to some nightmares, she had gone back to sleep, and was now experiencing her sixth nightmare. It was all the same.

Being defeated by LBD and fleeing the city. Though each time, her mind would twist thing up a bit and make it appear even more horrible than it actually had been. She would never admit it, but she was quite happy when she was gently shaken awake.

"Jiang, come on. You gotta wake up. I think Monkey King has something you might want to hear" She heard Mei's voice say. "Mmmm, tell him I said five more minutes" Jiang muttered, earning a soft chuckle. "He said he would come in himself and drag you out if you didn't get up" she said, a hint of laughter in her voice.

"Hmph. Let him try" Jiang replied as she moved onto her stomach and held on to her pillow. "Jiang!" Mei called out, making the girl sigh. "Oh alright, alright. Give me five minutes to get ready" Jiang grumbled.

Mei turned the lights on before she left the room, then she closed the door, giving Jiang some privacy. The girl let out a sigh before getting out of bed and looking through the wardrobe. A while ago, everyone had packed up some clothes on the airship for anytime that they would go camping.

Now, Jiang chose her usual clothing, and brushed and put up her hair, securing it in place with her hair sticks. Then, she left her room and got to the door that led to the outside deck. There, she leaned against the doorway as she watched Tang get ticked off because Pigsy had taken his book.

"Well, look who's up. I was actually going to go get you myself" Jiang heard Wukong say from behind her. She turned to look at him as he came up with a smile and took in his appearance. He had changed his torn clothes and broken armor plate for a dark blue long sleeve shirt and a lighter blue shirt vest.

A white scarf-like piece of clothe was tied around his waist and he now had red pants, along with new footwear. He had also given up the Phoenix feathers cap that he usually wore. The look on his face turned to slight surprise when he saw the hair sticks that Jiang always had in her hair.

More specifically, he was slightly surprised by the accessory that decorated one of them. "You, kept it?" He asked as he gently tapped the feather. The very feather that had fallen when he took off after defeating the Spider Queen.

"What, this?" Jiang asked as she removed the one hair stick and showed it to him. She let Wukong hold it as he held it up for a closer look. "Eh, what can I say? I needed something other than memories to remember you by" Jiang said, with a light shrug.

She softly smiled when Wukong's eyes shot up to meet her half-lidded ones. He gave a soft huff of laughter, and looked back at the decorated chop stick he held. "Arts and crafts person I'm guessing?" He said, handing the accessory back.

"Meh, you could say that" Jiang said before replacing the hair stick. Heading out onto the deck, she spotted Mei giving her a smirk with a raised eyebrow. Upon seeing Jiang's slightly confused look, Mei mouthed the words 'You like him' and nodded her head towards the Monkey King, who was settling down cross legged on the floor and didn't see what was going on.

Jiang gave a soft glare to Mei, who softly giggled, then came over. "He does have a few injuries. You should help him out" she muttered, handing over a roll of bandages. "Quit saying that I like him! We're just friends. That's it" Jiang told her, pointing the roll of bandages at her.

"Whatever you saaaayyyy~" Mei said in a sing sing voice as she turned and walked away. Jiang sighed, then she settled down beside Wukong, who gave her a questioning glance. "Face forward so I can see where your head is" Jiang told him, making him chuckle.

"Yes ma'am" he said as he complied. Quickly finding the injury on the back of his head, Jiang got to work with wrapping the guy's head, occasionally glancing over at the chaos that was beginning to form in front of her. "You've been reading your diary out loud literally all day! Your bumming everybody out!" Pigsy scolded as he took Tang's book again.

The scholar took it back with a harsh huff. "Hey! It's not a diary! I'm writing the next chapter! And very well too if I might add" he said. "I don't mind it" Wukong called out, making Jiang pause.

"How can you accept this? It's literally a love story between you and Tang" she told him as she continued her work. "Hey, as long as he wrote down that whole bit with me fighting Nejah and getting this bad boy, then we're good" The monkey said as he held up the map before laughing a bit. He let out an "Oof!" sound when Jiang hit him slightly for moving around too much.

Then, she finished up and tied off the bandage. "I mean, the bit with the omelette thing, was pretty cool" MK stated as Jiang began to use the rest of the bandages to wrap up her hand and wrist, which she had injured when she landed harshly on the deck in the escape from LBD. "Yeah, right? It's totally cool" Wukong said.

"Okay, gather around everyone! It's Monkey King story time!" He added as he spread out the map. Everyone gathered around the map, and Wukong winced a bit as he moved. Jiang had her guesses that he was slightly more injured than he let on, but, she gave him the benefit of the doubt as she finished up with bandaging her hand and wrist.

"So, I know what happened back there kinda sucked" Wukong began. "Mega sucked" Mei commented. "Mega sucked, but the old Great Sage had a trick or two up his sleeve" the monkey said.

Pigsy huffed a bit, and Wukong gave him a bit of a hard look before opening his mouth to speak. However, before he could say anything, the airship flew into some harsh winds that made the transport buck and shake. The wind began to blow the map away, but thanks to MK pouncing on it, it wasn't lost.

Wukong put an iron bar on the map to prevent it from blowing away again, and the wind, which apparently was just a short burst thing, quickly died down. "Okay, so, you said you were looking for a weapon" Jiang said. "Yep" Wukong confirmed.

"And? Did you find it?" Pigsy asked. "Nope" the Monkey King said. "But this map is going to help us track one of them down. It's called the Samadhi-" Wukong told them before Tang cut him off.

"The Samadhi Fire!" He cried excitedly. "...Yeah, that. One of the two most powerful forces I've ever seen" Wukong said. "Powerful enough to destroy the Lady Bone Demon?" MK asked.

"Mmm-hmm" Wukong hummed as he nodded. "But, what is it?" Jiang asked. Wukong opened his mouth to answer, but scowled at the look Tang was giving him.

He let out a slightly drawn out sigh. "Go on then" he said. "Okay, legends speak of a flame so powerful nothing could put it out, not even the Great Sage himself" Tang explained.

"That's right. The Samadhi Fire burned out of control, and the only way to contain it was by splitting it into pieces and scattering them so that the flame could never be reforged" Wukong said. "So you just tossed around a bunch of fires instead of one?" MK asked, making the monkey groan a bit. "And we put the pieces into three rings so they'd cause no further harm. Come on, do I have to spell everything out?" Wukong told him.

Everyone glanced at MK, and the boy looked like he wanted to disappear for a moment. "Now that the Lady Bone Demon has the staff, and both your guy's powers, she's too much for us to handle. If we can't stop her, she's going to destroy, well, everything" Wukong said. "Wait, you said the Samadhi Fire was one of the two most powerful things you've ever seen. What's the other one?" Jiang asked.

"There is something else that is just as powerful as the Fire, but that will be a last resort" Wukong told her. "So, we find the rings, combine them, and then what? You said the fire of someonesee could be controlled" Sandy said. "Samadhi" Wukong corrected him.

"Yes, he did say that" Tang answered. "I heard him say it. I heard him too" Pigsy agreed. "Hey, if Monkey King thinks this can work, then it'll work! We can do this" MK said in an encouraging tone.

"Yes! That's more like it!" Wukong said as he caught MK by the shoulders and ruffled his hair. Jiang giggled at the scene, but the moment was short lived when something rained down on them and caused an explosion to happen. Everyone was thrown to the ground, and Jiang spotted a smaller, flying vehicle tailing them.

"Guys, we got company!" She warned. "The Lady Bone Demon?! How did she catch up to us already?!" Pigsy cried. "Oh no" Wukong said.

MK looked like he was trying to summon the staff, then he looked at his hand in slight confusion before he seemed to remember. They couldn't summon the staff anymore. Jiang gave him a sad and comforting look, then turned to glare at their approaching enemy.

"Oh Wuuuuukoooong~!" Someone yelled out, and immediately, Jiang knew who it was. Macaque laughed as he fired more energy blasts at the group, which made them scatter and hit the deck. "Macaque?!" MK cried.

"Oh, that's a relief, I thought it was someone important" Wukong said as he stood up. Macaque chuckled. "Always the comedian. Hey Jiang, MK. You guys miss me?" He said, looking down at the two siblings.

"It's hard to say yes buddy!" Jiang called out. "Guys, get us out of here!" MK cried, as he looked at his friends. They all took off to the cockpit of the airship as Macaque laughed, then growled.

He fired more shots, some of which made contact, and the airship began to go high, up into the clouds. MK was thrown against the protective barriers that surrounded the deck if the airship, while Jiang struggled to stop herself from sliding everywhere. "Monkey King, you gotta do something!" MK cried.

"So, yeah, I'd love to, but I kinda, sorta, used the Lady but if my power getting this" Wukong admitted as he showed them the rolled up map. "Incoming!" Jiang called out as she spotted Macaque's vehicle flying in. The group dodged the shots he fired, then he disappeared into the clouds, his laugh echoing a bit.

"Oohoo, looking a little banged up there Monkey King. The kids too. Looks like our old friend the Lady Bone Demon really did a number on you guys" Macaque said. "So what, your her puppet now? I mean, it's makes sense, you did also have a sidekick kind of vibe" Wukong taunted. The trio threw themselves to the ground as Macaque drove over them, going as low as he could before shooting up into the sky, where he jumped out of his vehicle.

He shot down, and landed on Wukong, who let out a screech that sounded like that of a monkey. The two rolled over each other for a moment before Wukong was pinned on his back, glaring up at the edgy monkey with his teeth bared a bit. "You know me. There's a new player in town. I'm just feeling out who's the winning side" Macaque told him.

MK picked up the bar that had been used to keep the map down, and jumped into the air with a battle cry, ready to bring it down in the black furred monkey demon. Macaque pulled Wukong up and kicked him away before turning around and catching MK by the throat. "MK! Jiang cried.

"Not smart bud" Macaque told the boy as he held him off of the ground. He turned around a bit to face Wukong when he called out, "Kid!". With a snap of his fingers, Macaque summoned his shadow clones, which pushed Wukong to the ground and held him there.

Jiang pulled out her knife and ran at the guy, but Macaque simply wrapped his tail around her ankle, and flung her against the protective barriers. She let out a sound that sounded like a mix between a cough and an "Oof!" when she hit the barrier. Bracing her upper body on her elbows, she looked up and glared at Macaque, who simply chuckled.

"The three of you are such a mess. Can't imagine why the Bone Demon wants me to bring you back. Look at you, your all used up" he said. MK locked eyes with Jiang's, and flickered his gaze over to the engine, then to the bar he had in hand, then back at Jiang. She followed his eyes movements, and immediately realized what he was thinking.

She gave him a determined nod of approval. Macaque raised MK even higher, intending to throw the boy against the ground, but a green energy blast forced him to let go in order to dodge it. The blast tore through the shadow clones, who all disappeared, leaving Wukong with a surprised face that Jiang would have laughed at had it not been for their current situation.

Everyone looked over to see Mei holding her sword, the tip of it smoking slightly. "Interesting" Macaque said before he began to dodged all of the blasts that Mei shot at him. He eventually landed on the barrier.

"You wanna get to my monkeys, you gotta get through me first!" Mei snapped as everyone took shelter, I mean, gathered behind her. "Ah, you must be the dragon girl I've heard so little about" Macaque said. Not this bitch model walking, Jiang thought before Macaque hopped back onto the deck.

"Little girl, you can shoot me all you want. It won't do you any good" he told her. "Maybe not, but hey, sometimes to make an omelette, you gotta break a few engines" MK called out. "Uh, what?" Macaque asked, looking just as confused as Jiang felt.

"Uh, I don't know, I thought it would be cool, just, whatever!" MK snapped before he spun and flung the bar as hard as he could. Macaque moved his upper body to the side a bit, letting the weapon fly past him. "Whoa! Didn't see that one coming" he commented.

His smirk faded away at the sound of the weapon making contact with something, and everyone looked over as the bar jammed the engine, causing it to explode. The force of the explosion made the back end of the air ship come forward, mocking it so the the airship was on its side. Jiang bit back a yell as she watched Macaque get thrown off and plummet into the clouds below them, quickly disappearing from sight.

With him now gone, Jiang turned her attention to more important matters, like actually staying on the ship as it tilted sideways. Scrambling a bit, Jiang managed to thrust her knife into the metal ground right as she lost her footing. Mei caught MK, who held on the her legs, and Wukong slid down, landing beside the group as he braced himself against the protective barrier.

The entire aircraft was still moving, remaining on course, but there was a serious tilt to it. Jiang knew they couldn't afford to lose another engine, otherwise the entire thing would go down. "MK, what the fuck was that all about?!" She called out, referring to what MK had said before he threw the bar.

"Kid, why did you-?" Wukong asked, wanting to know why the boy had thrown the bar in the first place, before he was cut off. "Well, uh, yeah, I was trying to do you, in the omelette story. Do the weird, impulsive Monkey King thing, and escape the bad guy?" MK explained. "Well, I mean, Nezah ain't really a bad guy, but, did you forget about the part where I got really hurt?" Wukong said.

A couple more explosions caught everyone's attention, and made MK yell out of fear. Jiang caught sight of the other three engines. Flying the way they did had put too much staring in them, and they just gave out, and now, all four engines were in flames.

"Oh shit, we're going down!" Jiang cried as she tightened her grip on her knife's handle. They dipped below the cloud cover, and Jiang became absolutely terrified by what she saw. They were about to crash land in the fucking ocean.

Just great.
