Dumpling Destruction
Nowadays, Jiang never really knew what to expect when she walked through the door to Pigsy's Noodles. Today, she walked in on Mei taking pictures of MK while he was mopping the floors. Shaking her head at the scene, she walked up to the counter.
"Just some crispy noodles to go. I got some people to meet up with here in a bit" Jiang said, lightly tapping her fingers on the counter. "Oh? Not gonna have anything special for today?" Tang asked. "I mean, it is your twenty-ith birthday after all" he added.
"Tang, you know how I feel about my birthdays" Jiang said as she handed some money over in exchange for the crispy noodles. "Still, it's not every year that you turn twenty" Tang said. Jiang shrugged a bit before pushing some noddles into her mouth.
"Well, my friends told me that their bring me to the bar to celebrate today, so, I guess that's something" she said through her mouth full of food. "You feeling alright kid?" Pigsy asked. Jiang looked over at MK to see him looking confused.
And his eyes were glowing gold. "Looks likes it's just some more mystic monkey business. You know how it is these days. Welp, thanks for the food Pigsy. I'm out!" She said, walking out of the shop and down the street. She finished up her noodles and tossed the trash away in a bin.
Then she began to feel, strange, everything became tinted in gold, and she heard a faint voice that seemed to by growing louder. Darting into a nearby alleyway, Jiang focused a bit on the voice. "Hey, kiddo, can you hear me? Hellooo? Wukong to Jiang?" Wukong's voice said, starting out soft and echoing a bit before getting louder and more clear.
Then, the gold tinted version of Wukong appeared in front of Jiang. "Wukong!" She cried with a smile, thoroughly delighted to see him, even if he wasn't actually there. "Hey, there you are! Oh good, your not dead yet either. That's a relief" Wukong said.
"Really? How do you know I'm not actually dead? For all you know, you could be talking to my ghost" Jiang said, crossing her arms and jutting her hip out a bit. "That would be very true. If astro-projection actually worked on dead people" Wukong retaliated. "Huh, touche" Jiang said.
"Besides, a little telepathic communication never really hurt anybody. I think" The Great Sage said. "I heard that last bit. But how are things in your end?" Jiang said, leaning forward a little. "Oh, everything's fine. Well, mostly fine. So, listen. We have a bit of a problem" Wukong told her.
"Wukong, every time you say that, it's ends up being some big thing that-" Jiang said before she was cut off by someone screaming, "What the hell is that?!". Peeking out of the alleyway, Jiang spotted what looked to be a giant dumpling falling through the sky.
"Wukong, what did you do?" Jiang asked, looking over her shoulder to glare at him. "So, me and the boys got into a bit of a food fight up here in the Celestial Realm. Long story shirt, I need you and your brother to handle the tiny itty bitty giant dumpling before it falls to Earth and destroys everything" Wukong hastily explained. "Oh, yeah, sounds oh so easy" Jiang said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
"I mean, I probably have something that could help you guys out back at my place. Anyway, I gotta go, so, believe in yourself and you can do anything. And happy twenty-ith birthday. Okay byyyeee!" Wukong said before he ended the astro-projection. "Hey wait a minute, I never told you when my birthday was!" Jiang called out before she sighed. Then she went off to find MK.
She found him huddled together with the others. "What are you guys doing?" She asked, startling everyone. "Oh, Jiang! Great, your here" MK said before he pulled her into the huddle.
"Alright, this will undoubtedly be our most perilous mission of all time. A journey to the room where Monkey King keeps all his junk, to find, uh, something, and stop the Celestial dumpling from destroying the world. And there is only one person with the smarts, the bravery, and the heroically awesome hair to be my wingman on this mission of certain death" MK said. "Dude, I don't know who is worse between you and Tang when it comes to adding drama to something" Jiang said. "Hey! But I mean it's me who he talking about, right?" Tang asked.
"Well, I mean obviously" MK said, making him and Tang burst out laughing. "Your kidding, right?" Pigsy asked. "Could you not, my sweet sweet Pigsy?" MK said to him.
"Mr. Tang and I are the experts in Monkey King, so yeah, this makes sense" MK said. "I'm still coming with you. Just because" Jiang called out. "MK! This is so obviously a mission for just you, Jiang, and me! I even got a sweet new jet!" Mei cried.
"Sorry Mei! Can't hear you over my awesome new hover bike!" MK cried before he, Jiang, and Tang took off. "So, why are we letting him drive again?" Jiang asked. MK shrugged.
"Alright. You'll want to hang a left and land at the top of the mountain!" Jiang called once they started getting close. "Hmph. I'm pretty sure I know how to drive a futuristic hover bike" Tang said before he crashed on the beach. "Like I said, I know how to fly. Anyway, I presume it's this way?" He said before getting up and walking off.
"You should've brought Mei instead" Jiang said, looking at MK, who nodded in agreement. After finally getting to the top, Jiang paused to give two familiar monkeys a couple scratches under the chin and around the ears. "Hey B. Wassup G?" She said.
Yes, she gave them letters for names. And yes, they were the two Monkeys that she had met when she first woke up on Flower Fruit Mountain. Then she stood up and hopped over the rocks right as Tang was pushed away from the waterfall.
"Ah, yes. I thought that might happen" he said. Jiang let out a slightly frustrated groan. "Tang, only those seemed worthy, like Wukong, MK, and myself, are able to get through the waterfall" Jiang said.
"Oh, you two are on first name basis, hmm?" Tang asked with a knowing look as he messed with his spectacles. Jiang felt her cheeks heat up as she realized what he was referencing. "Not like that!" She cried before groaning.
"Just, hush for a moment" she said, turning around and sticking her hand out so that it was inches away from touching the water. The golden symbol appeared, and the waterfall opened up, allowing the three entry. Inside, Tang was in awe.
"So, what do you think we should be looking for? Like a, magic crossbow? Or cannon?! Or-" MK said. "A vase" Tang said. "Uhh, what?" Jiang asked, making Tang groan.
He said something about the dumpling being a type of dumpling that was potentially filled with a delicious filling, and that blasting it wouldn't do. "And a vase is going to help, how?" Jiang asked, raising a brow and crossing her arms. "Legend says Monkey King sought help from Guan Yin, to defeat a demon I don't remember the name of. He used the vase filled with pure water, enough to flood a whole mountain range. It seems logical that we should use that to suck up the soup, and save the world from third degree burns" Tang said.
"Sounds good enough to me! We can probably find that with all of Monkey King's other junk. Behind this giant door that I never even noticed before" MK said. Jiang facepalmed. "I'm surrounded by idiots" she muttered to herself before looking up at the large double doors.
Tang tried to open them, but the seal immediately pushed him back. Jiang could feel her patience slowly slipping away, but she held in, and watched as MK opened the doors. Inside, was a room that was filled to the top with stuff.
This was going to take a lot of time to sift through, time Jiang was sure they did not have. At least Tang was having fun. He was geeking out over everything.
"Jeez Wukong, you sure your not a hoarder?" Jiang said to herself as she looked around. "This could take a while" Tang called. "Yeah, well, we don't have a while, so get digging!" MK snapped before he literally dive into all of the junk.
Jiang sighed before she began to walk around. Then a few seconds later, she heard MK scream. "He looked tiny cause he was far away!" He cried.
"What are you on about?!" Jiang called as she raced over to where he was. She spotted a spider demon who shot a web at the demon revealing mirror the had fallen to the ground. Thinking fast, Jiang tossed a staff over to MK, who used it to keep the mirror where it was.
But, then he got punched into a large tower of junk, which began to fall. And it all landed on the demon, who let go of the mirror, which Jiang caught. MK appeared out of the junk, which had her breathing a short-lived sigh of relief.
Then, she heard Tang yell. "MK! Jiang! I can't find the vase anywhere!" He cried. "Ugh, do me and Jiang have to do everything?!" MK snapped before his eyes began to glow gold.
"There, that crate is full of them!" He yelled, pointing at a couple crates. "Why didn't you do that sooner?!" Tang called. "Because I forgot I could, okay?!" MK yelled back.
Then, the spider demon chose that moment to unbury himself, and he wrapped a few webs around a couple of swords, flinging them at MK and Jiang. She quickly grabbed the knife in her back pocket, and began to us it to deflect the blades that came flying at her. "Tang!" She cried, seeing a blade heading straight for the scholar. She ran as fast as she could and shoved him out of the way before jumping back to avoid the sword.
Hearing glass clatter on the floor, she looked over to see a lot of different looking vases spread out on the floor. "Well, you have fun with that, me and MK, will take care of the demon" she said, pocketing the knife and grabbing a nearby staff before flinging herself back into the fight. "I can smell your fear, bit" the demon said as he dragged MK around.
"It's my conditioner!" MK called out, blocking even more hits from the sword. The weapon he was using was flung out of his hands, and the demon managed to pin him against some junk. "Get your hands off my little brother!" Jiang yelled at she ran up, intending to hit the demon with the staff in her hands, but the demon caught it and, with Jiang still holding on, he flung it off to another junk pile.
"Tang! Hurry!" MK cried, his voice muffled since Jiang was buried under all the junk. She fought her way out in time to see to see a sudden burst of flames going between MK and the demon. Looking over, she saw Tang holding a weapon that transformed into a thick-bladed sword.
"God damn" she breathed "Uh, yeah! And there's more where that came from! Now get out of here and let us save the world" Tang shouted. "You know, you've got a point. How about a truce? Just this one time?" The demon asked. "What?!" Everyone chorused.
"Why kind a villain are you?!" MK cried. "The kind that's got bigger plans than getting boiled to death by dumpling sou" he said. Then, he grabbed the mirror, and left.
"Until next time, Monkey Kids" his voice called out. "This is the greatest team up ever! We should use that to blast the dumpling into bits!" MK cried as Tang tossed the sword away and bent down. "MK. You forgot about the soup" Jiang said as Tang stood up with the vase.
"Alright, let's go! We have a city to save!" Jiang cried. They all got back to the hoverbike, and this time, Jiang drove them back, flooring the gas pedal. Jiang was a bit terrified to see just how close the dumpling was.
Landing on the rooftop where Mei and Pigsy were, Jiang grabbed the vase and hopped off. "Did you find something to stop this thing?!" Pigsy asked as the trio came up to him and Mei. "Sure! I mean, maybe? Okay Tang, Jiang, the vase!" MK said as he and Tang pointed to the vase that Jiang held up.
"The vase?! Why didn't you grab the magic crossbow?! Or cannon, or-?!" Mei cried before she was interrupted by Tang and MK speaking at once, they paused and looked at each other, and Jiang began to speak over their laughter. "Because, if we were to burst the giant dumpling, people would be killed, and a lot of others would be suffering from third degree burns" she said. "This is going to suck up whatever's inside the dumpling to prevent that" she added, holding up the vase a bit.
She cringed a bit at the fact that Tang and MK were still laughing. "Would you morons hurry up?!" Pigsy yelled at them. Jiang uncorked the vase, and together, she, MK, and Tang directed the burst of water at the giant dumpling.
The force of the water coming out actually knocked Tang back and began to push against Jiang and MK. However, Pigsy, Mei, and Tang pushed back, steadying the two. Then, both the dumpling, and the water, slowly went back into the vase, which Jiang quickly put the plug on to prevent anything from escaping.
"So, did it work?" Mei asked before the vase exploded. "Sometimes, all you can do is your best" MK said as he looked out at all of the dumpling soup that littered the city. "We probably should've grabbed a few more vases, hmm?" Tang added.
Jiang facepalmed. "Ya think?" She asked sarcastically. "Yeah, we probably should've" MK agreed.
