Cooking with Chang'e

Jiang let out a yawn as she stared into the flames of the campfire. Sandy had found a perfect place to spend the night, and now, everyone was gathered around the campfire. Well, except Mo and Sandy, who were both knocked out in the van.

She felt tired, and a little strange. It had been a couple days since the, immortality incident, and honestly, it was weird, knowing that she was going to live forever, and that nothing could kill her. Her train of thought was interrupted, and she turned around as MK spoke.

"Okay, whoever made this needs a lesson in how to draw good. Jiang, maybe you could do that" he said. "Sure! Just invent a time machine and send me back in time" Jiang said as she huffed with laughter. "Okay, one, judgy much? And two, what do you mean?" Tang asked as Jiang stood up to check out the map to see what MK was talking about.

"None of these landmarks look like anything! Okay, debatebly, where we got the first ring looks like DBK's fortress. And this beautifully rendered mountain range looks like some sort of lantern city. But, tell me, what the brick is this supposed to be?!" He said as he pointed at each of the three locations. The last one was up in the sky. "That, kinda looks like the moon" Jiang said as she took a closer look.

Suddenly, Pigsy shushed them. "Would you guys shush?!" He snapped before looking back at the TV that was in front of him. Jiang had no idea how it was even working with how far out they were.

But, anyhow, Pigsy's favorite cooking show, Cooking With Chang'e, came on. Jiang rolled her eyes in amusement as he repeated her catchphrase, "Cooking is life. And life is cooking". "Huh. Not gonna lie, shes, younger, than I thought she'd be" Mei said.

"Hang on. You guys see that too, right?" Jiang asked as she spotted something familiar. "MK, get me the ring that Tang's got!" She called. MK did so, and held it up beside the TV.

"Oh, my gods" she said. "Guys, look! It's one of the rings!" MK cried. "The second Ring of Samadhi is in Chang'es kitchen?" Pigsy asked.

"Do you know what this means?! We. Are going-" Tang cried. "The celestial realm!" MK blurted out. Everyone gave him deadpan looks.

"The moon. MK. We're going, to the moon" Jiang told him, exasperated. "In space?! We're really going to go to space this time?!" MK cried as Pigsy began to run around in a panic, collecting and packing anything of use. "Oh, I can't believe it! We're going to Chang'es kitchen!" He cried.

"To the moon!" He and MK chorused. Pigsy darted off again, and Mei came over. "Hey, so, MK, I know your big brain boy and all now, but, uh, how exactly, are we supposed to get to the moon?" She asked.

"In a rocket" Wukong's voice drifted over to them. "Huh?" Mei and MK chorused. "Yeah, just, use your powers. Build a rocket out of the van and we'll just, fly up there, whoosh" Wukong said as he used a chip to mimick the rocket while making whooshing noises.

Jiang couldn't help but smile at the childishness, and shook her head. "Oh, you mean the powers me and Jiang don't have anymore?" MK asked. "Aw, come on bud. Believe in yourself. Look, even I believe in you" Wukong said.

MK looked over at Jiang, who simply crossed her arms. "As your older sister, I am required to believe in you. It says so in the book of Being an Older Sibling" she said. "You got your gold vision back cause you needed it to save your friends! Now, you need to get to the moon, so, chop chop! Don't think, just, feel it" Wukong told MK.

The boy turned around and focused. And then, the van began to float as it glowed. Then, much to everyone's surprise, the entire thing shrunk.

"Um, wasn't, Sandy, still in there?" Jiang asked. MK looked rather frustrated, but, Wukong didn't let that stay for long. "Ah. Don't worry about it bud. I still believe in you. Maybe you just need a stronger motivator. Here let me handle this one" the demon Monkey said before he held his hand out.

He made it look so easy as the van glowed and floated up, returning to normal size before bursting into pieces that reconnected to form a rocketship. "God damn" Jiang breathed as she admired it. But, before anyone could go in, the door opened, and out stepped someone.

It was Sandy, but he had shrunk. Drastically. The top of his head barely even reached Jiang's thigh.

"Hey, you guys feel a little lightheaded? I think the van's a little, humy" he said in a higher pitched voice. Then he noticed the looks he was receiving. "What? Is there something on my face?" He asked before Mo came over.

The cat looked huge compared to the shrunken blue skinned demon. And with this new thing on their hands, Mei and Tang were elected to stay behind. "Have fun guys! It's fine, we'll just stay behind, if you want. No adventures whatsoever, just babysit baby Sandy or whatever" Mei said as she began to pout.

Tang already looked close to tears at the prospect of not going to the moon. "Yeah, not like we wanted to go to the moon or anything anyway!" He cried as he went down on the ground with Mei. "You know what?" MK said, making the two perk up.

"We will have fun. Kay, byeeee!" He called before the doors shut. "Damn MK. You need to stop taking pages out of my book" Jiang commented as everyone took their seats. MK and Pigsy were both wearing space suits.

Jiang almost put one on before remembering she was immortal, and therefore technically didn't need oxygen. MK simply shrugged at her as he clipped in his seat belts. Wukong began to press random buttons.

"You, uh, you have done this before, right?" Pigsy asked him. "Nope! I never even made a rocketship before, can you believe that?" The monkey demon answered him before going back to pressing buttons. Jiang giggled as Pigsy tightened his straps with a terrified look on his face.

"Hey Wukong, what happens if you press that bug red button right there?" She said, nodding at it and smirking at the look Pigsy gave her. "Huh, dunno, let's find out" Wukong replied. "Jiang, I swear, if you give him any more ideas-" Pigsy said before he cut himself off with a yell as they began to shoot up into the sky.

Both Pigsy and MK were screaming, but Jiang was trying to keep her mouth shut in order to keep her stomach contents where they were with her eyes screwed shut. Soon, the force of the Gs stopped, and Jiang peeked open her eyes, then she looked around. "Hey MK, take a look at this" she said slowly.

MK's gasp of awe and wonder was nit unwarranted. It was like someone had taken a painted black canvas and splattered white paint dots on it, then placed a couple larger, different colored dots here and there. Absolutely beautiful.

However, she spotted something that ruined the mood. There was a large storm cloud that covered a lot of what she could see. And it was in the shape of a skull.

And that reminded Jiang of why they were doing this. She looked ahead again as they got closer to the surface of the moon, and soon enough, the entire group crash landed in a garden of sorts. Jiang let out an "Oof!" as she landed harshly on her back before quickly bouncing and sliding to a stop.

And from the sound of it, Pigsy and MK had suffered the same way. Though both of them had gone face first into the ground. "Sorry guys! Like I said, I do not know how to fly a rocket" Wukong said as he landed on the ground. "As long as the decent back home isn't as bad, then I'll take it" Jiang called as she got to her feet.

Then, there was a collective gasp as they all took on their surroundings. Trees and grass, everywhere. Smooth cobblestone trails led to different places, higher placed podium structures held small boulders that also had some vegetation on them.

There were beautiful archway structures that were placed every fifty feet or so along the trails, and there were glowing lanterns that were literally floating in thin air. "Oh I can't believe it. This place is even more beautiful in person. The masterful cultivation, such perfect parallel planting" Pigsy said. Of course he would admire the giant vegetables that could be spotted here and there.

"Not what I expected the moon to look like. But my gods, it's beautiful" Jiang breathed. "Remember, in and out, no distractions. Right Pigsy? Jiang?" MK told them. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, I know" Pigsy said.

"Let me gather my art inspiration in peace MK!" Jiang cried, but she was simply pulled along. They were hiding behind a rock when MK seemed to realize something. "Hey, don't you guys need a suit?" He asked.

"Your asking that... now? Of all times?" Jiang retaliated, one eyebrow raised. "Pfft, no. Space suits are for dorky mortals" Wukong said, answering the boy's question. "Get down!" Pigsy cried before he shoved them all further down behind the rocks.

It sounded like there was a large and heavy robot walking around. Well, more specifically, a giant mechanical bunny. Scanning. Perimeter, a robotic voice said before a red holographic screen appeared from its eyes.

The screen moved around before disappearing. Perimeter. Secure, it's said before moving on. "O.M.G. That might be the cutest thing I ever saw!" Wukong said with the expression not unlike someone seeing a particularly adorable puppy.

"You, are aware that, that thing could kill us, right?" Jiang asked him, looking slightky confused and concerned, but sounding amused. "It's still adorable" the demon Monkey key said as he crossed his arms and pointedly looked away. Then, Pigsy spotted something.

"Guys, look!" He said, bringing everyone's attention to a cabin-like structure. There were lights on inside, though they were rather dimmed. After checking things out to make sure no one was inside, the group slipped in, thankfully unnoticed.

"Okay, it should be right around here somewhere" MK said as he immediately began searching. Pigsy was too busy fanboying to really try and look. Wukong had simply taken a seat in a director's chair, observing the slight chaos before him.

"So, director, what do you think of the latest show?" Jiang asked in a joking manner as she leaned on the corner of the chair. "Absolutely wonderful. Great work on the details" Wukong said, playing along. The two glanced at each other, then looked away as they both giggled or chuckled.

"Yo, can you stop the weird flirting thing and help out with the search?" MK called out, slight annoyance in his voice. "F-flirting?!" Jiang called out, heat rising to her cheeks and turning them a light red color. All she got was a groan from her brother as a cabinet he checked came up ringless.

Wukong had seemed startled to silence, so, Jiang simply decided to actually help out in the search. Unlike a certain pig demon. "Pigsy, pigsy! Put down your book, and look over there. I found the ring!" MK cried.

Right there, sitting on a wall above the stove, was the second Ring of Samadhi. Jiang gave him a boost, and the boy was able to grab the ring. "Huh, that was easy" Jiang noted as she let her brother down.

Right after she said that, an alarm began blaring while red lights flickered on and off. "Ah shit, I jinxed us" Jiang realized as she crossed her arms, looking a little ticked with herself. "The old ring triggers the alarm system trick" Wukong said with a strange voice before going back to his regular one.

"Alright, let's get outta here" he said. Then, a wall burst open, and the killer bunny mech from before made its appearance. "This is just going from bad to worse" Jiang called out from where she had ducked behind the island.

"Uh oh. What're we gonna do?!" MK cried. "Come on bud. Gold vision" Wukong said in a slightly exasperated tone while cupping his hands around his eyes for emphasis. "Oh, right. I keep forgetting I have that" MK said before he struck up his gold vision.

He gaze landed on the floor, and Jiang followed it to a floor covering. "You've gotta be kidding me" she said. "It's either that or the killer bunny mech. Take your pick" MK reminded her.

With a sigh, Jiang went over and hooked her fingers on the sides of the covering, lifting it up to reveal a pitch black hole. "Oh, please don't be water. Or anything else like that" she begged as she lowered her legs in. "Alright boys, let's go!" She cried.

Then, mustering up her courage, she let herself fall into the hole. It turned out to be a tube that led to a ceiling cover, which broke open the second Jiang hit it. She free fell for a moment, then landed in a Spiderman pose.

"Yes! Perfect on the first try" she praised herself before standing up and brushing off dome dirt and dust from her jacket and jeans. Then she noticed where she was. "Whoa. Is this a factory?" She asked.

The sound of someone yelling, which was quickly growing louder, made her look around. Then, she remembered where she had gotten in. Jiang looked up in time to see three bodies drop down on her.

Have you guys ever had three bodies, each weighing a hundred plus pounds, drop on you? Well. Jiang can tell you right now.

It wasn't fun. She let out a pained groan as she lifted her head. "Thanks a lot, guys" she hissed.

"Sorry Jiang" MK apologized before taking notice of his surroundings. "Whoa! Is this a factory inside the moon?!" He cried. Then, they were surrounded by a lot of killer bunny mech.

All ready to fire. "Ah crud/shit" MK and Jiang chorused. All of the mechs fired their weapons.

Jiang felt a harsh burning sensation in her upper arm that was quickly followed by something warm trickling over her skin, but paid no attention to it as she focused on getting out of the slightky constricting environment. The entire group landed outside of the cabin house and took up fighting positions. Except for Pigsy, who faceplate into the ground.

Then, the giant bunny mech from before landed behind the group, making them all spin around to face it. "Monkey King, do something!" Pigsy cried. "Sorry, I can't, it's just too gosh darn adorable!" Wukong called out as his tail formed a little heart.

Jiang sighed and shook her head a bit, then, was rather surprised by MK stepping up. It looked like the move he had tried to pull earlier with the van,  and this time, Jiang was glad when the bunny mech shrunk. Though, now with it able to fit in the palm of her hand, she could see why Wukong found it adorable.

Especially when it began to throw a little tantrum at its current situation. She knew the others felt the same way. Wukong especially. "Okay, okay. I take back what I said. That is the most adorable thing I ever saw" he said before catching the expression on Jiang's face.

He had a shit eating grin on his face faster than you could blink, and Jiang was quick to notice it. "Don't even say it" she muttered as she crossed her arms and looked away. Before Wukong could retaliate, the sound of someone clearing their throat caught the group's attention.

"Hey, so, what do you think your doing?" The person asked, revealing themselves to be a familiar person. "Chang'e?!" Everyone chorused. "Sun Wukong and MK and Jiang the Monkey Kids" Chang'e said in a serious tone as she lighterally floated over to them.

Then her tone changed. "Not to be that gal, but, I'm a huge fan! Do you have a moment?!" She cried before holding up her phone with a girly giggle. Then, she proceeded to take about fifty pictures in rapid succession.

Jiang couldn't help but laugh at Wukong's dumbfounded expression. He looked so confused with everything that was happening at the moment. She was rather terrified when Chang'e deactivated MK's spacesuit to take a proper picture with him, but let out a breath of relief when he didn't fall to the ground dead.

"Now, where was I? Ah, yes. I believe you have something that belongs to me?" The moon Goddess said as she held her hand out. "I'm sorry Chang'e, we needed to find this ring in order to save the world" MK said as he pulled out the ring from his jacket pocket and held it up. "After we were done, we were gonna return it. Honest!" He said.

"Oh, that old thing? You can keep it" Chang'e said with a shrug. "Uhhhhhh, what?" Jiang asked. "I've been up here a long time. All sorts of things make their way to my garden. When that arrived, I knew that there was something special about it. That it didn't belong. So I gave it a home until it was time to leave this place. So yes. You may have the ring. In return for my book" the moon Goddess as she pointed a finger at no one in particular.

"Book? Yeah, I kinda just took this, so-" MK said before he was interrupted by Pigsy's fake cough. He looked nervous. "Pigsy, what did you do" Jiang asked slowly as she looked at the pig demon.

"I'm gonna put my money on him stealing Chang'es book" Wukong supplied as he crossed his arms. He didn't look too happy with Pigsy either. The pig demon let out some jumbled up words before giving up and deactivating his suit.

And he pulled his hand out from behind him, revealing Chang'es cook book of recipes. MK let out a shocked gasp. "Why, I never! Oh you better believe we'llbe having words when we get home young man!" He cried.

Jiang watched MK quiet down as Chang'e approached. "I was gonna put it back! I just, you know, your such an inspiration, and when I see your book, I guess, I just wanted to leave you with a parting gift, in exchange for the ring" Pigsy said, tearing up before handing the book back. His voice faded into the background as Jiang saw a sheet of paper.

It was one of Pigsy's recipes to his most popular noodle dish. Jiang was even more surprised, cause, that recipe was practically sacred in Pigsy's noodle shop. He wouldn't even allow Jiang in the kitchen when he was making it.

That recipe was one of his best kept secrets until now. "I'm truly sorry" Pigsy apologized, tearing up again. Then, Chang'e brushed those tears away.

"Don't cry Mister Pig, I understand. When cooking is life..." she said. "Life is cooking" Pigsy finished with a smile. "Tch, it's just cooking guys" Wukong said nonchalantly, though he looked terrified for a second when both Pigsy and Chang'e shouted "Life is cooking!" from behind him.

MK clapped his hands together. "Alright, not that that's worked out, we should go" he said. "You know, it's been a long time since I've really hung out with anyone. Except Bun Bun anyway" Chang'e said, and the mini bunny that MK had shrunk popped out, waving.

Jiang smiled at the sight. "Maybe you guys could stay a little longer? It would mean the moon to me" Chang'e said. MK was about to protest, but Pigsy quickly shut him up.

"We'd love to" he said. "Besides, I can help with the wound on your arm" the Moon Goddess, speaking to Jiang this time. Everyone looked at her, and the girl then became aware of the painful throbbing in her arm.

"That, would be, helpful" Jiang said, sporting a light smile. Once everything was said and done, Chang'e gave them some boxes of food, and they were on their way. Pigsy was in front of the TV again.

MK was talking with Mei while Sandy sat between them. He was still small. Mo was chilling out beside him, Tang was looking over the latest ring, Jiang was sitting up on a ledge, observing things below her, and Wukong was picking out a food box.

After he did, he went over to MK with a foldable chair. "Hey bud, I forgot to mention, great job earlier with that shrinking maneuver. You believed you could change that bunny mech, and you did. Just like I knew you could" he said as he opened the chair and sat down, snacking on his food. "Aw, thanks Monkey King. I was trying to do something more, cool, but, I mean it worked out, anyway, so, let's just move on, okay?" MK said before letting out a nervous chuckle.

Wukong smiled, then everyone looked at Sandy as he spoke. "Guys! It's starting!" He cried in his high pitched voice. "Are we just gonna leave him like that, orrr...?" Tang asked.

"Eh, priorities" Wukong told him. Pigsy shushed them all as another episode of 'Cooking With Chang'e' came on. This episode though, had a very special guest in the form of the pig demon himself.

Everyone hugged the real thing, and he had a sweet smile on his face. Jiang smiled at the sight before it faded away. She ended up climbing to a higher ledge and sat down with part of her body facing away from the group.

Undoing the bandage wrappings on her upper arm, she stared at the wound that was now on display. It was a direct energy blast shot, but that was the weird part about. Usually, an energy wound would have electric like markings around the edges.

But here, hers were more, fire shaped. Why was it fire shaped? Thinking back, Jiang realized this wasn't the only strange incidental thing.

What about the time back with the dragon king guy? The second he laid a hand on her, she had a vision that involved a pheonix, an animal associated with fire. Feeling someone staring at her, she glanced over.

Jiang spotted a strange look on Wukong's face before he realized she was looking and quickly turned away. And as much as she loved him, she couldn't help but think that he was hiding something. Jiang let out a soft groan and leaned her head against the rock.

What the hell going on with her?
