Coming Home

Jiang stood behind her brother, cheering him on against his battle with Mei. "Come on buddy, you got this!" She cried as MK's character landed a hit on Mei's. Ah yes, nothing like a good round of Monkey Mech to start the day right.

Sandy shouted out something. "Okay Sandy, Jiang, I'm trying I'm trying!" MK yelled out as he frantically began pressing the buttons to the game. But, in the end, Mei won.

"Ha! No one can defeat me!" She laughed, shoving her fit in the air with victory. Her phone began ringing, so she walked away to take the call. With her not paying attention, MK gave a small evil chuckle and began to play the game again.

Jiang shook her head a bit, then she noticed Mei's down expression as she got off the phone. "Hey, you okay?" Sandy asked. He too had noticed her change in demeanor.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's just-" Mei started to say before MK's laugh of victory drifted over to them. He had beaten Mei's character. No one dwelled on it for very long before Mei started talking again.

"My parents, they want me to, house sit" she said. "And, that's a bad thing?" Sandy asked, confused. "No! Uh, me and my parents, we-" Mei started to say before MK cut her off.

"Uh, did Mei say sleepover at her house?!" He cried. "What? No! My parents would not-" Mei said before MK shouted "Sleepover!!".

"I've always wanted to see inside Mei's secret dragon house full of secret dragon stuff" he added quietly to Jiang. "Come on, please? Please please please please please please?" He begged Mei, who sighed. "Sleepover it is" she said with a resigned tone.

"Aw yeah! The sleepover's gonna be awesome!" MK's voice slowly faded into the background as Jiang noticed Mei staring at something. Turning around, it took her a second to spot the cloaked figure with a large straw circle hat on the other side of the street. The hat blocked their face, but Jiang had a sneaking suspicion that whoever it was was staring at the group.

Or maybe just one person in particular. Moving herself so that she blocked Mei from the stranger's sight, Jiang placed a comforting hand on the girl's shoulder. "Hey, it'll be alright. Besides. Not only do I know how to clean things up and make it look like we were never there, I also know how to fight. So if something happens, your covered. Trust me" she said, keeping her voice low so that only Mei heard her.

Her words seemed to help as Mei gave her a thankful smile. Later on, the entire group stood outside the dragon house, though it looked more like a small palace. "Wow! It's even better then I imagined! Growing up here must've been great!" MK cried as he looked around.

Not even Jiang could hould back the look of awe and amazement as she took in everything down to the tiniest detail. "Uh, yeah, I guess. But, I don't know. When I was growing up, I just wanted to be rough and tumbled, break stuff, look at bugs, you know, have fun. Just, like, normal girl stuff. But when your house is pretty much a museum and you come from a long line of ancient noble dragons, that's kinda, frowned on" Mei said. "Anyway, onwards to the definitely not gonna be terrible sleepover" she said in a cheerful tone, though Jiang thought it sounded a bit forced.

MK and Sandy both zoomed over to the doors while Jiang stuffed her hands in her jacket pockets, staying behind with Mei as they came over more slowly. However, the dragon head that was built there scanned the two, and weapons instantly appeared, all aiming at MK and Sandy. Mei rushed forward and typed something in, which made the weaponry disappear.

"Yeah, my parents are a bit serious about the old security thing" she said before the doors began to open. "Welcome home. Mei" said a male automated voice system. "Yeah" Mei said.

Jiang widened her eyes as she took in everything. "This is amazing!" MK cried out. Multiple stone statues wearing dragon armor stood in perfect lines.

And even more ancient artifacts were spotted here and there. "My gods!" Jiang breathed. "What is all this stuff?" Sandy asked.

"Oh, you know, gifts, artifacts, offerings, just stuff that's been in my family for-" she said before the sound of something breaking caught her attention. "Guys!" She cried as MK and Sandy began checking things out up close. "Whoa! Be careful!" Jiang called out, rushing out to balance a suit of armor that was about to fall before cautiously backing away.

"If I had all this stuff, I don't even know what I'd do. Sell it, probably" MK said, not noticing the glare pointed towards him. Jiang heard Mei let out a fear whimpers of fear when Sandy fully picked up a dragon statue to examine it. "Guys!" Jiang yelled, quickly grabbing both boys attentions.

"Hands in pocket, now!" Mei snapped, which made everyone in the room follow what she said. "Ugh, follow me. You guys are such menaces, you know that? Not you Jiang" Mei said as she walked off to another room. Jiang had a gleeful smile while the boys had slight friend on their faces.

Mei then took the group on a tour of the place, which included the garage, one of many long hallways, a celestial jade garden, a room with antiques that were thirty centuries old, a pool of a thousand tears, a tea and zen room, Mei's bedroom, and the dragon club chamber. Something glinting caught Jiang's eye, and she looked over at it, softly gasping at what she saw. It was a beautiful green bladed, white handled sword that was literally floating between two clawed hand of a pearly white dragon sculpture.

"Mei, what is this?" Jiang asked, gaining everyone's attention. "Whoa! Now this thing is cool! So, what's the dealio with this deal yo?" MK cried before asking. "MK, brother, Mei's language is not a good look on you" Jiang said, momentarily recalling a certain party clone before lightly shuddering.

"Oh, that's the sword of my great great great time a thousand great grandfather, the Dragon of the West. Legend says that my grandfather embedded it with unimaginable power so that our clan would always have the strength of the dragon to protect them. It's true power will only show itself to those seemed worthy. A true member of our clan whose proven themselves to be strong enough to protect our family from the forces of evil" Mei explained. "Whoa" MK, Jiang, and Sandy breathed. "But I'm not allowed to touch it. Hey! Anyone wanna see the game room?" Mei added.

"And now you've done it" Jiang groaned as MK basically went crazy, rushing out of the room... "A pinball machine! I've always wanted one of these!" MK cried, hugging the arcade device. "Yeah, now this is home" Mei said as Jiang did a three sixty, taking in all the games.

"Alright, you two, boot up the old TV. Me and Jiang will go get some snacks. Okay, don't break anything while we're gone!" Mei said before she and Jiang left the boys. Then, the dragon girl took off running, making Jiang break into a sprint to try and keep up. "Party! Board games, snacks, oho!" The girl yelled out before both women noticed something.

Backing up to the room they had just passed, which turned out to be the dragon club chamber, both girls noticed the figure from before pulling at the sword. The figure also noticed them, and looked up, the hat no longer concealing it's face. "Wait a sec, that's a bull clone!" Jiang cried.

The clone threw something at the two girls. Jiang dodged her's, but Mei got hit, and landed on her back. The bull clone, now holding the sword, took off with it.

"Hey! Get back here!" Mei cried as she stood up before she and Jiang gave pursuit. However, the clone broke into the garage, and stole a vehicle, driving off with it. "Great, we'll never catch up" Jiang groaned.

Mei put her fingers to her mouth and whistled, which made her motorcycle appear out of nowhere. "Come on!" The girl called, pulling Jiang on behind her before quickly driving after the bull clone thief. The thief stuck the sword into multiple columns, which made pieces break off and severely damage the bike, but somehow, Mei put all the pieces back together in midair and continued driving with Jiang holding on for dear life.

Then, the motorbike went even faster. "Mei, what's going on?!" Jiang called out. She didn't get a verbal answer, but figured things out easily enough when Mei purposely crashed into the stolen vehicle, making an explosion that threw everyone forwards.

"Oof! Sorry" Jiang apologized when she landed on Mei after the poor girl already hit the wall. She was suddenly shoved down, with Mei ducking too, and Jiang quickly saw the reason why as the blade impaled the wall where Mei's head had been. With a slight grunt and a bit of straining, the dragon girl pulled the sword out of the wall.

"The dragon blade?" Both girls chorused before Mei seemed to go into a trance. Jiang pushed herself out of Mei's lap and waved her hand in front of the girl. "You know what, I am a part of this family. I am Mei. Descendant of the Great Dragon of the West Sea. This is mine, and this is my house!" The dragon girl cried before she was engulfed in green fire, which forces Jiang to take a couple steps back.

The fire grew, and when it disappeared, Jiang was in shock. Mei was floating in the air, her green eyes glowing, and behind her, was a beautiful glowing green colored Chinese dragon. "Get, out, of my house!" Mei yelled before pointing the blade at the bull clone.

The mouth of the dragon behind her began to open as a ball of energy collected at the top of the sword, and in one fluid motion, it seemed like the dragon was breathing out the energy been that came from the sword, landing on the bull clone and destroying it. Then, both the beam and the dragon faded away. "So guys, you know that-" MK's voice came from around a corner before it broke itself off with a gasp.

Jiang looked back to see MK staring at the wrecked hallway, his jaw was on the floor and he had a shocked expression on his face. "Jiang, Mei, what happened?!" He cried as Mei landed in the floor. "MK! Someone tried to steal the Dragon Sword, but me and Jiang stopped him with this! The Dragon Sword!" Mei told him, holding up the very sword that the clone had tried to steal.

"Well, actually, it was all Mei's work. I ended up just tagging along" Jiang said after she found her voice again. "Whoa!" MK cried. Jiang spotted Sandy giving MK a look, which the boy seemed to sense before he sighed.

"Mei. I'm really glad you stopped him, but I have a confession to make. I accidentally..." He said before trailing off. "Accidentally what?" Mei asked, looking really happy with herself. "...Accidentally didn't know what was going on! Wow, that thing's amazing!" MK told her, but from the way he hesitated, Jiang knew that that wasn't the truth.

However, someone clearing their throat grabbed the group's attention, and silenced any words Jiang might've came up with. Standing not too far from them, were two people who didn't look too happy. "Mom, dad! Your back!" Mei cried, fumbling with the sword before hiding it behind her back.

"We were on our way before we realized somebody forgot our luggage" Mei's mom explained. "Hey Sandy, Jiang? Were you guys kind of expecting Mei's parents to literally be two big scary dragons?" MK quietly asked. "Um, no" Sandy replied.

"Yeah, not really" Jiang agreed before looking back at the scene in front of her. "I can explain. Someone tried to steal the sword. I didn't let them, and I used this. I'm sorry" Mei said, stuttering a bit here and there before going down on one knee, holding the sword out to her parents. "We saw the whole thing" her father said.

"But I couldn't just-" Mei started to say before her father cut her off. "And we're so proud of you" he said, now sporting a bright smile. "What?" Mei asked.

Jiang calmed her nerves as she sensed that nothing bad was going to happen. "The dragon blade is the pride of our family heritage. It's power only shows itself to those that embrace our history. Their family" her father said. "We may not always see eye to eye, and your friends are more unique than we expected, but you are a part of this family. And it is part of you. We love you" Mei's mother told her, sending a soft smile when she spotted Jiang glance in their direction.

"I love you too mom, dad" Mei replied before she and her parents shared a hug. Jiang smiled and looked away, letting them have their moment. Though MK joined in, making her roll her eyes at her brother's sometimes blunt actions.

"I'm sorry about the house" Mei apologized. "What's important is that you are okay. Objects can be replaced" her mom said. "Everything except my prized pinball machine. That is irreplaceable" her father said, which, Jiang noticed, made MK look nervous and guilty at the same time.

MK, what the hell did you do, Jiang mentally asked him... On second thought, maybe it was best if she didn't know.
