. . .
She was six when they moved.
Moving from a nice neighbourhood where she would play with her friends until the sun came down; where the biggest concern between her group of friends was who got the last chocolate ice-cream cone (she wanted it, but she gave it to Alyssa instead. Momma told her to be nice and share, after all); where she could let her personality be wild and free like her curls; where she could be herself and her friends accepted her.
She was six when they moved to the run down, the watch-your-back, the quiet hustle of drugs, the soothing whispers of alcohol, infested apartment.
She was lost.
Going from her quaint house (which zoned her to her elementary school which she absolutely loved) to the cold, harsh apartment, was a shock for her, but she looked for the silver lining. After all, she was THE Nora Johnson, she would make friends as fast as she could breath.
She had to, there was no other choice.
. . .
"Nora!" The shrill voice of her sister shook her out of her captivation. There was twenty more minutes left of the episode, Goku just went Super Saiyen (though Bulma was her favorite), and Nora did not want to miss what came next. Even if it meant getting a lecture for her older sister.
"Gimme a sec'!" She shouted back, eyes wide and unblinking at Goku's blond transformation. Man, this was getting good. Frieza was gonna get one bad whopping.
"Nora, listen to me!" Her sister's voice got louder until she was in the small living room. "I told you to wash your bowl after eating cereal, right?"
Nora nodded distractedly; Goku was now moving so fast, she could barely keep up with his hands and, oh boy, Frieza was dodging just as fast and Vegeta was there too and-
A jeans and t-shirt clad body covered her view, abruptly disconnecting her from the fight.
"Oh my God, McKenzie!" She shrieked, her eyes blinking rapidly. "Get out of the way!"
"Not until you give me a proper answer," her sister crossed her arms, a sign that she wasn't messing around.
"Yes, you did but I didn't listen, now please let me watch the rest of the episode, I swear I'll wash the bowl after!" Nora said it in one breath, so it sounded more like "Yes, youdidbutIdidn'tlisten, nowpleaseletmewatchtherestoftheepisode, IswearI'llwashthebowlafter!" McKenzie reluctantly moved out of the way, sighing deeply.
"You're lucky I'm nice, Nora. If you did your chores before watching Dragon Ball Z, I wouldn't have to interrupt in the middle of an episode."
"Yes, Ma'am," Nora mumbled, once again fixated on the episode.
"After you're done watching tv, please go get the mail, alright?" McKenzie asked and Nora nodded in agreement.
"Lord All Mighty, this girl..." McKenzie's voice trailed off as she walked out of the room and Nora hollered, "I heard that!"
"Good! You were supposed to!" McKenzie yelled back and Nora giggled.
It was fun annoying her older sister.

just an idea floating in my brain for now! I'll update this when I'm stuck on IMPURE or anything else :-)
