Chapter 3
Back at the hunting shed, Mr. Harvey has everything ready for the ritual. "Okay, let's start with the youngest." said Mr. Harvey walking towards the cage. The red-head girl wraps her arms protectively around the youngest girl, and the other kids get in front of them. "Out of the way, brats, you're gonna ruin everything." Mr. Harvey threatened. "Stay away from us, you unholy monster!" said the dark-skinned boy. "You know, it's a good thing you'll all be dead soon, cause you little sh*ts are really starting to get on my last nerve." grumbled Mr. Harvey. He shoves the children out of the way and rips the youngest girl from the red-head's grasp. She screams and cries as he drags her to the center of the pentagram. "This'll shut you up." Mr. Harvey said raising a ritual knife over his head. Just then, Wolfie bursts in and tackles Mr. Harvey to the ground. "Everyone grab a kid!" ordered Sarah. Ava takes the youngest girl, Ray gets the boy with glasses, Nora gets the red-head girl, Nate gets the brunette girl, Mick grabs the dark-skinned boy, and Sarah takes Young-John. They all escape with the kids, leaving Wolfie to deal with Mr. Harvey.
The team agreed to separate to take the kids home, then meet back at the Waverider. "So...you guys are...time travelers?" Young-John asked Sarah as they walked back to his house. "Yep." replied Sarah. When they arrived at his house, Young-John stopped dead in his tracks. "What's wrong?" Sarah asked. "I don't wanna go home, please take me with you. I promise I'll be good." Young-John begged. "I'm sorry, but I can't do that." Sarah said. "Please! You have no idea what it's like living in that h*llhole! My dad...h-he beats me...all the time! I'm begging you, please don't leave me alone with him! For the love of God, don't leave me here, I-I'll do anything!" cried Young-John. This was breaking Sarah's heart, she knew how much John had suffered at the hands of his father, knew how much pain this little boy in front of her was in. "John..." Sarah began, getting on her knees so she's eye-level with the ten-year-old. "You have to stay here, or else the timeline will be ruined." Sarah explained. "So, because of the bloody timeline I'm supposed to live a life of suffering?" Young-John asked. Sarah bites her bottom lip, unsure of what to say. "Some f**king hero you are." Young-John said darkly. "*sigh* I'm sorry, John." Sarah apologized holding the memory erasing device in front of his face. She pulls the trigger, erasing the memories of the past events from Young-John's mind.
Then she hides somewhere, before Young-John could notice her presence. The boy looks around, confused as to why he was standing outside his house. "Hey! What are you doing just standing around out there? Get your a** in here, boy!" yelled his father. Reluctant, Young-John walks towards the house slowly. Once he's in arms reach, his father grabs him by his hair and practically throws him inside. Next, Sarah hears Young-John's father start to beat him and hears the boy call out desperately for help. It took all her will power not to charge in there and beat that b*stard into a bloody pulp. So, with a heavy heart, Sarah walks away and returns to the Waverider. "What happened with that Harvey guy?" Sarah asked Mona. "Well, umm...Wolfie kinda...tore him to pieces, literally." replied Mona. "D*mn, now we won't know what his plan was." sighed Sarah. "At least we saved John and those kids, that's what's most important." said Ray. "Speaking of John, where is he and Charlie?" Nora asked. The aforementioned people were found in the study passed out on the couch.
The next day, when they returned to 2019, Charlie and John woke up with hangovers. While Charlie's was mild, John's hangover knocked him on his a**. He remembered nothing from yesterday, but she remembered everything...of which she used to her advantage. "Here ya go, pineapple, this'll help ya feel better." Charlie said handing John a glass of ice water. The warlock had just stumbled into the kitchen after puking his guts out in the bathroom. "What the f...why do you keep calling me pineapple?" John groaned rubbing his temples. "That's an inside joke between me and drunk-John." giggled Charlie. "So, you're not gonna tell me?" asked John. "Nope." replied Charlie smiling wickedly. John groaned and grumbled before taking a sip of the water Charlie gave him. Then he rests his head on the table and wraps his arms around his aching stomach. "I never thought I'd say this...but I think this is the worst hangover I've ever had." said John. Charlie sat next to John and puts a comforting hand on his back, between his shoulder blades.
