The Night that Changed Their Lives

(mega time skip. I will publish a chapter in between when I'm free later)

The blinding red and blue lights blinded Percy, but he didn't care.

She's gone.

Gone.

Silent tears made their way down his face. He gripped his two children's hands tightly while the oldest one stood behind him, grieving the loss of his mother.

"Luke," said Percy, looking at the young boy who clutched his right hand tightly. His gray eyes were filled with fear, and tears of his own filled his eyes. His black hair was messed up, much like his father. "Promise me. Promise me that you would never speak of this incident with anyone except me and your siblings."

Luke nodded. "I promise, Daddy," he said meeting his father's stormy eyes.

Percy turned to the little girl holding his left hand.

"Zoë, I believe you heard what I said to your twin, right?"

Zoë nodded. Her sea green eyes were puffy and red. Her wavy blonde hair hung loose around her face. Tear droplets hung from her eyelashes, making it look even more stunning.

Even in the worst situations, Zoë managed to look beautiful, like her mother.

"So do you promise that to me too?" Percy asked.

Zoë nodded again.

Percy turned to the oldest boy behind him. Jason nodded, his eyes fixed on the ruined body of his mother.

"Jason, I need you to help me. Take your siblings home and pack your bags. We're going. Take the bus home, don't go right but left, 'kay?" Percy told him.

Jason nodded, and led his sibling away.

Percy stepped forward. He cleared his throat and said, pointing at Annabeth. "May I?"

The paramedics immediately went back into the ambulance, giving Percy his own private space.

Percy bent down and cradled Annabeth's head in his lap. Her face was badly bruised as if someone had beaten her. Her body was filled with many cuts, major and minor, clearly been done by a Celstial Bronze blade.

"Don't worry, Wise Girl. Whoever, whatever did this to you is gonna pay."
