Twenty-Six

Second Year,
Mystery Valentine

Valentine's day. The day of love. More like cringefest. Rhea despised Valentine's day, more than any other day of the year. Why be extra romantic on the 14th of February, why not be romantic all year long, this was a day that she gratefully she was at Hogwarts for. Her father usually went overboard with Valentine's day, showing her mother all the love in the world, a huge bouquet of flowers, chocolates and a romantic dinner just for two.

She didn't change a thing about her. She cringed as she noticed some girls from Gryffindor house, waking up a little earlier to style their hair and do their make-up. Waking up earlier in order to work on her appearance wasn't something she was willing to get on board with, she didn't need to impress anyone.

Nothing would change today, she would go to the great hall for her dinner like every other afternoon. Angelina and Alicia joined her both girls viewed Valentine's day the same way she did. 'I don't have anyone to impress, so why bother' Angelina would say.

"Happy Valentine's Day girls," Lee said, seating himself next to Alicia opposite Angelina and Rhea.

"Just another day for us, I'm afraid," Alicia told him,

"Cheer up, it's an excuse to pig out on chocolates and ice cream,"

"I suppose," Angelina said, looking up at the Owl's soaring through the hall, "Mail's here,"

"Look at that, all the sweet little presents for all the lovely couples," Rhea said, scoffing as she dug into her meal, a small box with a card attached to it landed on the table.

"Well seems someone has a secret admirer," Lee said, seeing the card addressed to Rhea.

"What?" she creased her brows, looking around as she opened the card inside read.

'Rhea, when you walk in my heart beats differently,'

"Aw, that's so sweet who's it from?" Alicia asked, she turned the card over,

"I don't know they didn't sign it," she glanced at the box, she opened the box inside were three custard creams biscuits, she took a bite the buttery cream taste melting in her mouth. "Oh my god, this is amazing,"

"Shame you don't know who it's from," Lee said, checking to see if anyone was watching her open it, "you can't thank them now,"

"Come on I want to get to the library before 3:30," Alicia said, prompting Angelina and Lee to stand up,

"You're all going?"

"Yeah, better be prepared than walk into an exam blind," Lee said, he looked at Alicia and Angelina as they headed towards the door, "Why don't you come?"

"No thanks, I'd rather figure out who my mystery valentine is,"

"Alright if you figure it out let me know,"

She smiled at him as he walked away, she had no idea who might have given her a card. She looked around in case someone had their eyes on her, she ate another custard cream, humming as the taste only wished she knew who the person was for the recipe.

She smiled as her sister walked through the hall she seemed to be in a better mood, maybe she had gotten a valentine's card too. She was beautiful, often catching the boy's attention, even if she hardly noticed them, she knew Cedric wasn't around her for beauty, he seemed to genuinely enjoy her company.

"What are you doing?" Phoebe asked, she glanced back down at her card, handing it to her. "Who's it from?"

"I don't know, I'm going to find out though," smiling at the card, "I never in a million years thought I'd get a valentine's day card, I don't think I'm anything special,"

"How can you say that?" her sister questioned, sitting down beside her "everyone is special in their own way,"

"You sound like mum,"

"I'm serious-

"You're not dad," she chuckled, while Phoebe walked away from her. 'It was a joke god lighten up Pheebs,'

Fred and George made their way through the hall laughing to themselves she smiled at them, hiding the card in her pocket. They sat opposite her, piling food onto their plates, they glanced down at the box with one custard cream left.

"Who got you that?" Fred asked

"Oh, erm just a secret Valentine I guess,"

"You don't know who?" George questioned she shook her head, "looks like they baked it themselves, you must be special to them,"

"Stop, it's probably just some silly prank,"

"Why would someone prank you like that?" Fred questioned

"I'm not smart like Laura or pretty like Phoebe, I'm just me, I'm nothing special, at least not when there are others around me who outshine me,"

"You are smart just," George said

"A different kind of smart," Fred added, "and you might dress differently to your sister and cousin but,"

"Someone will find you pretty," George finished

"Thank you," she said softly, George attempted to take the last custard cream, Fred grabbed his wrist stopping him from eating it.

"It's her Valentine's gift, not yours," Fred said, she smiled at him, taking the last one, her mouth watering at the sweet creamy treat.

"That's right, whoever this person is, I better marry them 'cause there's no way I'm cooking, I'll end up burning the house down," they laughed at her.

"Let's hope they heard you say that, maybe they'll reveal their secret identity," George told her,

She smiled at them both as they looked around for the secret admirer, looking at any boy who might be looking their way. She doubted they would come forward with two tall sometimes intimidating twins by her side.
