Twenty-One

Second Year,
Quidditch Jitters

As the day of her first Quidditch game arrived she spent the morning, trying to remain calm. But she had seen the Slytherin play before they didn't care for others, they had injured many students, including her cousin, she tried to eat her breakfast, however, she seemed to have lost her appetite.

She pushed her food away sitting back as she fiddled with the sleeve of her Quidditch jumper, Alicia and Angelina were in high spirits about the game. She wouldn't dare tell them the conversation she heard between the team's oldest members. She couldn't break their spirits like that.

"You should eat something, Ri," Lee told her, as he sat opposite her.

"I'm not hungry," she told them, a professor cleared their throat behind them, they turned around, to see Professor Snape, standing before them, "whatever you think I did, I didn't do it,"

"That kind of talk makes me believe you did indeed do something," he said, she clenched her jaw, "good luck today," the three girls looked at each other as he walked away.

"Did Snape just wish Gryffindor good luck," Alicia commented, looking to Slytherin head of house as he walked out of the Great Hall.

"Yes, that's strange," Angelina said

"It's not strange, he wishes every team Slytherin is playing against good luck," Ethan said, gesturing for them to follow her,

"Why?" Rhea asked

"I don't know, maybe so he can look like the better person-

"Or so he can make us nervous more like," Oliver interrupted already dressed in his Quidditch kit. "Get dressed, we don't have long to go through the game one final time,"

Oliver talked them through their first game, all she could think about was the possibility of getting injured. 'Why did my first game have to be against Slytherin,' she thought, her fear was made worse when George asked about Oliver's first game.

Oliver stated that he doesn't remember, her took a blow to the head, a few minutes in and woke up in the hospital wing a week later. 'Great that isn't helpful at all,' she tried to push back all the negative outcomes for this game, taking a deep breath.

She didn't move when everyone else left, like her feet had been nailed to the floor, she couldn't move. She took a deep breath Fred waited back a moment, noticing that something was wrong, he tried to calm her down best he could.

"You'll be fine," he said,

"How do you know that?" she said, panic flooding her voice, "we could get end up in the hospital-

"Yeah, I know, I didn't peg you for being afraid of anything, Rhea Black,"

"I'm not, I'm just, just-

"Kiss for good luck," he said, noticing that they were alone.

"What?"

"Kiss for good luck, that's what you do right?"

"Well, yeah but that was practise-

"If it helps then, here," he leaned down kissing her cheek, "come on, we have a game to win,"

As they mounted their brooms they joined their teammates on the Quidditch pitch, as Madam Hooch released the Quaffle the game had begun as she along with the other chasers raced for the Quaffle. Slytherin's chasers managed to get there first.

They were a lot more experienced and bigger than the three Gryffindor girls, but they had something on their side, called Fred and George Weasley. They hit the blugers directly towards one of the Slytherin chasers, causing them to drop the Quaffle.

Alicia caught it racing ahead, the twins quickly realised that they had to defend the girls heavily as the Slytherin chaser were close behind them. Angelina signalled Alicia as Rhea flew into position. Alicia passed the Quaffle to Rhea, she made aim as the chaser came towards her she swiftly passed the Quaffle to Angelina.

"JOHNSON SCORES 10 POINTS TO GRYFFINDOR!"

They were well into the game with Slytherin winning with 60 points, while Gryffindor followed with 40. Rhea saw Ethan trying his best to get the Golden snitch it wasn't a position he was used to playing and it was evident. She ducked as a bludger flew towards her, the same bludger flew towards her again, she narrowed her eyes at the Slytherin beater responsible.

"Give me that," she snatched the bat from Fred, pelting the bludger at him, knocking him off his broom, she threw Fred his bat back as they continued with the game.

He couldn't help be smirk at her, she was something else. She was one of them, he saw that clearly now. As the game came to an end, with Slytherin's Seeker catching the Golden Snitch, Oliver tried his best to congratulate them on the first game all while being disappointed that they lost.

"For their first time, they were great," Ethan said, smiling at them, "I now know not to get between Rhea and bat," causing everyone to laugh.

Fred smiled at Rhea celebrating with her sister and cousin. George cocked his brow at him, smirking as he walked away, his brother closely following behind, they walked in silence. Fred grew more defensive with every passing second.

"I knew you liked her." Fred rolled his eyes at him "It's not a bad thing, Rhea's great,"

"She impressed me that's all,"

"Yeah, that's why you smile around, I've noticed it more times than you think," George informed him, he rolled his eyes at him.

"So, I like her as a friend-

"Yeah, cause you smile at Alicia, and Lina like that,"

"She was nervous about the game today, I thought being nice to her would give her a confidence boost, and I was right,"

"So you were only nice to her, for that reason,"

"Yes,"

Fred stayed up in their room for the rest of the night, George left him to sulk while he and Lee made plans to cheer the girls up about their loss today. While their first game went well they still lost, Fred twirled his wand between his fingers as someone knocked on the door.

"Hey, you alright?" Rhea asked

"Yeah, I'm fine," she cocked her brow at him,

"I thought you'd be with Lee or George-

"We may be twins but we aren't stuck together," she laughed, anyone would have thought they were where you saw one you usually saw the other.

"Thanks,"

"For what?" she walked closer to him, sitting on his bed.

"You saw that I was struggling, just thanks," she hugged him, expecting him to push her away but he didn't, he let her hug him. He rested his chin on her head, hesitantly wrapping his arm around her, "This is nice," he moved away

"Why'd you have to ruin it?" she smiled at him, knowing what would make him feel better

"I hate you, Weasley,"

"I hate you, Black," she chuckled, knowing he didn't.

Not anymore you don't.
