Twenty-Four
Second Year,
I'm a Weasley
So far the year 1991 wasn't great. She slept outside of her sister's room. While New Year's night should be something to celebrate it quickly turned frightening when Phoebe had a vision so scary she screamed unable to calm down.
Thankfully their Grammy was there to help, her mother cried, her sisters cried, and her brothers cried. The night it happened she and her siblings and cousin Max, slept in her parent's bed, unable to sleep alone in their own beds.
She worried deeply for Phoebe, she had never seen her as frightened as she was that night. The sleeping draft that their Grammy gave her, knocked her out, if she woke it was only for the bathroom or a little something to eat. She never muttered a word to anyone, and no one dared to ask her what she saw, saving her from further panic.
"Miss Rhea," Kreacher spoke bending down to her,
"What is it Kreacher,"
"Miss Rhea, has a visitor, a Weasley boy," She creased her brows.
They hadn't told her they planned on visiting her, she got dressed quickly, she had gotten used to Phoebe's style, especially when it came to her hair. She hurried downstairs, surprised that only Fred stood waiting for her, she smiled at him.
"I wasn't expecting you,"
"I wrote to you,"
"Sorry, I must, have not read it yet, come on, I'll show you to my room," she eyed him curiously, he had written to her, she hadn't opened any letters since the new year, there were only two more days until they would be going back to Hogwarts, surely what he had to say could have waited two days.
"Why are you wearing your hair like that?"
"Is it bad?"
"No, it just doesn't look like you,"
"I thought I'd try something different," he nodded,
"If it means anything, I liked your hair how it was," she smiled at him, "here, mum didn't finish it in time," he handed her a roughly wrapped present. She sat on her bed removing the wrapping paper, she held up a red jumper, with a black 'R' on it.
"Thank you, you're mum made this?"
"She makes them for all of us,"
"I'll be sure to thank her," she pulled the jumper over her head, and it fitted her perfectly she laughed, "I'm a Weasley now," he laughed.
"Not quite, you need to dye your hair,"
"No way, I'd look strange with red hair, at least Laura suits it," he looked around her room, "was George busy?"
"He's gone to our great-aunt Tessy's with my mum, Ron and Ginny,"
"Oh you didn't want to go," he shook his head, "Did you have good Christmas?"
"Yeah, same as usual, but always good, Bill came home, but Charlie didn't, it first time we've had Christmas and his birthday without him,"
"Do you miss him?"
"Yeah, you might not believe it, but Charlie's not as well-behaved as people think, George and I always said we got our sense of humour from him."
"I find that hard to believe," she always believed Charlie was a well-mannered student, being head boy he couldn't have been as bad as the twins were.
She pondered on why he was here in the first place, he could have easily sent the present in the post. She didn't know what reason he could have for coming. She hoped it was good, 'it must be, he would have left by now,' she looked down at her feet.
"You were right by the way," he creased his brows unsure of what she meant. "About Jack?" he shook his head. "The muggle,"
"Oh, what did I say again?"
"That I shouldn't lie to him, I slipped up, I said Merlin's balls when I lost a game, I do like Jack, and I hope one day I could tell him,"
"How could you tell him, without getting in trouble?"
"I don't know, but my mum said, Ethan and Laura's mother knew about wizards, before she had Ethan or they got married, somehow he got around the law," she smiled looking outside at the muggle children playing in the snow.
"We can go and play with them if you want," she smiled holding his hand as she made her way downstairs, heading straight outside.
Fred smiled as she still wore the jumper his mother made, she waved over to them, hugging one of the boys. He noticed how she'd held herself, tucking her hair behind her ear, 'she changed for him,' he cringed, hurrying to catch up to her.
"Jack, this is my friend Fred from school," they shook hands
"Didn't think any of your friends would be coming," he said, Elle sniggered with another girl.
"I wasn't aware she had friends,"
"Are you kidding?" Fred spoke, "she's one of the most popular girls at school, everyone wants to be her friend, I'm the lucky one, that gets to be her best friend," she smiled at him, "isn't that right Riri,"
"Yes," she turned to Jack, "if you're going to hang out with them, then, I'm going to hang out with my Freddie," she hooked her arm with Fred's walking away from them.
"Do them girls always treat you like that?"
"There's a reason, I don't befriend girls, Angie and Licia aren't like them," he looked back at them, "you didn't have to come to my defence,"
"I know, it's the truth though, you are my best friend, I might have been an idiot-
"You're not wrong,"
"I am an idiot for not realising you are quite possibly the best person I could be friends with, imagine what we could do if we put our devilish minds together,"
"I don't think my mother would approve,"
"Who's mother would," she laughed with him her smile falling. "What's up?"
"Are you going to be different when we're back at school?"
"We're trying your thing aren't we, spending the day together, start fresh"
"Yes, start fresh,"
