Thirty-One

Summer 1991,

Sorry For Being An Ass.

She hadn't stopped thinking about Jack, he kissed her, but it might have only been on her cheek. A boy had still kissed. When she returned her, all she could do was blush and giggle, Hadrian and Carden even sat outside her room, puzzled by the unusual sound coming from their sister.

Rhea accompanied her family to Diagon Alley, her brothers would be starting their first year of Hogwarts and would be needing their supplies. She had sent a letter to George arranging to meet him and Fred for an hour or two, while her family shopped.

Her mind was so focused on if Fred and she could be civil with each other, that she hadn't heard a word her mother said. She didn't know what she would do if Fred was still distant with her, she didn't want to lose her friendship with him and George.

"Pheebs, Rhea, you're meeting your friends right?" she nodded unsure of what had been said or where the rest of her family had disappeared to, "okay, we'll be leaving in a couple of hours,"

Rhea walked with Phoebe towards the ice cream stands, where they said they'd meet their friends. Her sister noticed a family who all had bright red hair. She didn't feel right about leaving Phoebe alone she smiled at her, looking over to the Weasleys.

"Go on, he won't be long," Phoebe told her, she smiled knowing Cedric wouldn't let her down by not turning up.

She hurried towards the family, halting her stride and taking a deep breath as she walked towards them. Mrs Weasley was talking to her children about what they needed for Ron, she quietly approached the family. Their mother spotted her smiling softly.

"Rhea, it's so wonderful to see you, dear,"

"You two, Mrs Weasley,"

"You don't need to call me Mrs Weasley, Molly is just fine," she nodded, George stepped beside her, jerking her chin to leave.

They snuck away, she sighed when Fred decided to stay with his family, she avoided her father by slipping into a nearby joke store. She whistled as she looked all around the store, some prank devices were outdated, for amateurs, they needed fresh ideas for this year.

"How's Fred been?" she asked, looking down at her feet while she fiddled with a new joke quill.

"Quiet, he's wanted to write to you he couldn't find the right words to say," she nodded he bit his lip, "what happened anyway?"

"Nothing, we just got into a fight,"

"About..."

"Jack, I don't know what his issue is, so I act a little different around Muggles, I kind of need to, he can't know about wizards, and magic,"

"I get that, but Fred said you changed everything from your clothes to your attitude," she sighed,

"I don't understand why it bothers him so much, he said he doesn't care that I like Jack, but he obviously cares enough to cause such an issue with it-

"I'm sorry for being an ass," she whirled around Fred stood with his hands in his pockets, "I do care, I shouldn't have said that I didn't, so did you hang out with him this summer," she nodded, "did you have fun?"

"Yes, Elle was a bitch like usual, though Jack told her straight," he smiled, she turned to George,

"Are you here to get things for Ron?"

"Just a couple of books," she creased her brows

"He'll need a wand and robes won't he?"

"He's got Bill's old robes," Fred told her

"Charlie's old wand," George added

"And Percy's old rat, Scabbers," Fred finished.

"He'll have nothing that's his own," she said, they nodded

"Mum only bought our robes, because Charlie was still at school when started," George told her,

"I take it your brothers are getting their things," she nodded, she hooked arms with theirs as they walked out of the store.

The trio strolled lazily around, often ending up in the path of rushing wizards. They talked, catching up on their summer, she refrained from mentioning Jack, as much as she wanted to tell them that he liked her, she could tell Angelina and Alicia instead.

They laughed, joked around, and plotted their genius plans for their third year. With no need to sneak to Hogsmeade, they could freely buy as many things as they desired from Zonko's, without having to hide them. Well, maybe they had to hide them from Filch. At least they couldn't receive detention for sneaking out to the nearby village.

"Will you both be coming to my birthday again?" she asked, before they could answer she spoke again, "Angie, Licia and Lee are supposed to be coming too,"

"Yeah, wouldn't miss it," George nudged Fred,

"You'll love what we got you for your birthday,"

"Oh really-

"Fred, George come alone, we're late for Aunt Tessie," their mother called, she smiled at Rhea.

"I guess I'll see you soon," She said they nodded George quickly hugged her before the pair ran back to their family.

She quickly found her cousins making their way back to their family. Ethan was clearly in a mood, what fifteen-year-old wanted to be around his younger cousins. He hadn't managed to see his friends while they were here instead he was stuck on babysitting duties.

She smiled as Phoebe seemed rather proud of herself, just another month and they'd be back at Hogwarts. Where the real fun of taunting her brothers could begin, she smiled to herself thinking of all the possible ways she could taunt them.

Her smile fell when she heard Hadrian laughing with Carden. She couldn't taunt him, not if Phoebe was right. She couldn't make him any worse than he would be already.
