Fifteen
Summer 1990,
Evening Potters
Rhea accompanied her mother to Diagon Alley, she wanted to talk to her mother, without the added company of her brothers and sisters. What better way to do that than to accompany her on her morning errands. Aimee eyed her daughter, finding it most usual that she be awake at this hour.
Firstly they headed for the Daily Prophet, so her mother could hand in her latest article, to the editor. Rhea stood outside while her mother spoke with her colleague, she looked at some of the other girls her age, wearing dresses and skirts.
She looked down at her own clothing, ripped jeans, a baggy shirt with Guns n Roses on the front. She doubted many wizards would know who they were except maybe the odd few. Their hair was styled, whether it be curled, pinned back, or some kind of braid, their hair was styled, while hers was messily styled, if you could call ruffling your hair styling it?
"Alright, all done there, shall we get something for dinner?" Aimee asked she nodded following her mother,
Aimee noticed her daughter's usual quietness, if she was anything like her father she most likely wouldn't get a straight answer out of her. She waited, hoping that Rhea might speak up, she assumed there would be a reason for coming with her.
"Mum, can I ask you something?"
"Of course, you can ask me anything,"
"Am I too much like dad?"
"There's nothing wrong with being like your father," she said, she rolled her eyes,
"That's such a mum answer,"
"I'll admit you have some qualities of your dad that annoy the hell of me, but I wouldn't have you any other way, you know how I feel about pranks, mainly because I was always caught in the crossfire of your dad's pranks growing up, you know he once dyed my hair red everyone laughed, that embarrassed me on my birthday,"
"I didn't mean to prank Laura-
"Hunny, we don't need to talk about that, Laura's forgiven you hasn't she," Rhea nodded, "then forgive yourself, I don't know what I'm going to do when Carden goes to Hogwarts,"
"He'll never beat my pranks,"
"Don't get into a rivalry please, I don't think McGonagall would appreciate that,"
"Aimee!" someone called, she looked up, smiling at the redhead that waved at her making her way over to her. "Only Rhea today?"
"Yes, having a little mother-daughter day, how about you?" she asked smiling at her daughter
"Well, James and Harry both broke their glasses, I don't even know whose fault it was-
"Dad's fault," Mia said, Lily sighed, she should have known by now.
"Mum, can I go back with Lily?" Rhea asked
"Only if it's alright with Lily,"
"I'll even make you dinner," Rhea excitedly hugged her aunt Lily.
"Can I come by later, I just want to change first," she asked.
"Of course, dinner will be at 5:30," she informed her.
Lily hugged Aimee goodbye, as the two mothers went their separate ways with their daughters. Mia questioned if she would be allowed to go to Grimmauld Place and see her uncle Sirius and Max. If Lily hadn't prepared dinner early, then she could have gone.
As the pair returned home, James greeted his wife with a kiss on her cheek, as he lifted his eight-year-old daughter into his arms. Lily laid their glasses down on the table, Harry and James quickly put them on being able to see better now.
"Thank you, hunny,"
"There's a charm on them now," she said, smiling at him "hopefully they last a little longer," he kissed her, as he helped put the groceries away.
"I invited Rem, I hope that's okay," he said from the kitchen.
"Uncle Remus is coming?" Harry questioned.
"Rem is always welcome in our home, I invited Rhea,"
"Is Carden and Hadrian coming too?"
"No, they weren't with their mum today, you'll see them when we go camping, go play before dinner," She smiled as Harry took his sister outside to play a little before dinner.
Just half an hour before dinner would be ready, Remus arrived knocking on the door. James rolled his eyes as he never needed to knock but always did, he patted him on his back as the two sat in the living room, just as they sat down. Rhea let herself in the house.
"Evening Potters," she said, rushing over to hug Remus and James.
"You look different Ri," Remus commented, she smiled tucking her hair behind he ear.
"Yeah, I ask my mum to do my hair," she looked back at Lily in the Kitchen with Harry and Mia "I have something to show you," she whispered taking the plain parchment from her behind her back.
"Is that what I think it is?" James said, smiling as he held the parchment in his hands.
"Has your dad seen it?" Remus asked,
"Yeah, he showed me how to use it," Remus gestured for the map, James handed it to him. He checked that Lily wasn't watching, he held his wand to the map.
"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good," he said, the map revealed itself to them.
"A lot of memories with this map," James said with a huge grin on his face.
"Dad said I should use it wisely, and I have me and my friends have had a lot of fun with it," she smiled remembering the many times they had used it. "It's been great for avoiding Filch and Snape,"
"I can't believe Sirius let you keep it," Remus commented.
"Why?"
"Because you're just like him," James said, with a huge smile on his face, "if you use the map like him, you might even challenge his legendary pranks,"
