Part 17: Red
"Are you crazy? Why would you just let Team Thunder have you?" the Piplup, a male, shouted at us angrily.
"You don't understand," Mark replied calmly. "We didn't turn ourselves in, we're here to rescue you. All of you." There was silence for a couple of minutes. Then all at once, everybody started cheering. "We- we don't know if they know that we're here, so we need to be cautious." The cheering stopped when they heard this.
"We got specific orders from Prof. Birch," I added. "But right now, I'd like to know where Red is." A few Pokémon winced when they heard his name. However, the Piplup stepped forward.
"He... he's not used to the situation he's in right now. Be careful when you get close to him. He's been avoiding us and keeps talking about Pokémon not being able to talk. And by the way, my name's Jordan." Jordan said as he walked off towards a dark corner, lit by only a small fire coming from somewhere.
"Oh, that's just great," I grumbled when I got close enough to see where the fire was coming from. In the corner, there was a small, circular bed. Laying on top of it, a Charmander was sleeping soundly, despite what Jordan told me. "This is Red, right?" The blue penguin Pokémon nodded grimly.
"Best we leave him alone right now," Jordan whispered to me. "This is literally the first time I've seen him sleep ever since he got here. At least, I can't remember any other time."
"How long has he been here?" Mark's voice behind me said in a curious tone.
Being a bit too loud, Mark woke the slumbering Charmander. Blinking his eyes sleepily, Red looked over towards us and muttered something under his breath. I was about to open my mouth to speak when he blurted out, "Just leave me alone. I don't want you to try and comfort me."
"I'm not here for that," I stated. I started to continue to explain, but Red interrupted me.
"Then what are you here for!?" He shouted at me with a mixture of anger and lethargy. "I don't want anything from you!"
"Red, I was in the same situation that you are in right now. I just want to help you. Not only that, but there are some old friends that would like to see you." I answered patiently.
That seemed to calm him down a bit because he smiled a little and asked, "Old friends? Where are they?"
"Just follow me. You'll recognize when you see them... Actually more like, 'us'." I grinned as I walked off towards the rest of the group, who were playing on the playground with other transformed trainers. When they saw us, they quickly ran towards us.
"Red! It's so good to see you again!" Mew exclaimed. "You don't know how great it is that you're okay. At least they didn't do anything worse to you."
"Okay, I don't recognize a single one of you. Also, I am not fine. They didn't give me any pharmaceuticals when they started the transformation. Do you know how painful it is? Let me tell you, it's beyond unbearable." Red growled.
"Oh, I forgot. I'm not actually a Bulbasaur." Mew remembered. "It's me, Mew, the Growlithe is Victini and Genesect is the Squirtle." When he said this, Red's face lit up.
"It's great to see you again," Red replied. "But who are the two Eevees, Vulpix and the Pikachu?"
"Ah, my name's Jacob," I informed him. "I also recently became Jirachi, but you can just call me Jake. Mark is the normal Eevee, as well as Arceus, and the shiny Eevee is Bailey. The Vulpix is named Samantha."
"That's nice to know. So, why are you here?" he said in a curious tone. His tail wagged back and forth, waving the fire back and forth.
"We're getting everybody out of here," I answered loudly, getting everybody's attention. "I don't think any Team Thunder grunts did see us, but we don't want to take risks, so we need to leave now." I ran to the door and opened it with the same routine as usual. When this happened, everybody literally trampled me when they sprinted into the empty corridor.
