Part 15: The Yami Region

When I finally woke up, I panicked a bit because I didn't know where I was. And then I remembered that I gave myself to Team Thunder. The van had stopped, and the doors swung open, revealing a large cargo boat that was heavily guarded. There was no way getting out of this.

"Come on, follow me." A Thunder grunt escorted us to the impressively massive ship. We were then moved down below the dock to the cells. Along the way, I could see several rooms filled with Pokemon that were former trainers.

"Do you think that-" Mark started.

The grunt slapped him in the back of the head. "Shut up!" He led us to the cells and locked us in, two to a cell. I was with Mark, Genesect and VIctini were held together, as were Bailey and Mew.

Then, willing to risk another blow to the back of the head, Mark leaned over to me and whispered, "Do you think Red is in there?"

I shook my head. It was very unlikely that they'd keep such a valuable prisoner in the same boat. Somebody could just attack it and rescue him. My thoughts were interrupted by some mumbling emitting from a radio on the guard. The speech was too quiet to make out what they were saying, though.

As he left, he held up the radio. "Yeah, they're humans. Should we transform them again?" There was a pause. "No? Okay. The decision's your's boss."

"Okay, now we need to transform back into Pokemon, and they'll bring us into the other room where all the others are," I said, grabbing my PokeCore that they surprisingly didn't take. "Ready when you are."

The room when white as everybody pressed the buttons on the PokeCores, making literally everything impossible to see for several seconds. How I didn't become blind yet, I don't know. When the room got to its normal brightness, I saw that Mew was a Bulbasaur, Genesect was a Squirtle, and Victini was a Growlithe.

The Team thunder grunt returned and stopped when he noticed that the cells were filled with Pokemon and not humans. "What the..? Am I dreaming? I must've drunk too much yesterday..." He left the room and returned a minute later with several attack resistant leashes and hooked them up to everybody.

"Where are we going?" Victini asked me.

I replied, "You'll find out. It's called the..." I turned to Mark and asked, "What is it called?" He did his best to shrug, although he was on all fours. When he realized he couldn't, he just shook his head.

The grunt led us into another room, muttering something about hallucinations and getting in trouble. Then, he pressed several buttons on a keypad, and a magnetically sealed door opened, revealing what they called a "sanctuary" for the trainers they had transformed into Pokemon. It was actually a prison, but it looked more like a playground for toddlers.

"This is so embarrassing." Genesect blushed. "Do they think that we'll actually enjoy this?"

"Apparently," I replied as the electromagnetic doors shut, imprisoning us in the playground-like area. Floods of memories swam into my mind as I looked around, seeing all the happy Pokemon playing around. How could they be so calm when they were kidnapped, never to see their family again?

"What do we do? Play along?" Victini turned to me, expecting me to answer. When I didn't, he looked over at Mark, who shrugged.

"I don't know what to do," I said, sitting down with my ears and tail drooping. My stomach growled, indicating that I was hungry. Closing my eyes, I began to think about all the possible actions we could execute. THat's when I got an idea. "The door's magnetic, right? I could disable them, and we could hide in the ship until it docks."

"There's a problem. How will we be able to tell when the ship docks?" Mew asked curiously. "Aside of that, this plan might just work."

"There are rooms with windows," I said matter-of-factly. "We just need to get to one of those rooms fast enough before somebody notices."

"I like that idea." Genesect replied, grinning from ear to ear. "Let's do it!"

"Do what?" A high pitched female voice inquired. I turned around to see a curious Vulpix staring at us. "You are a strange group of Pokemon."

"Um, no we're not," I said, a bit offended. "What do you want?"

"I just want to know what you're up to." She answered nervously. Who is this Pokemon to be getting into everybody's personal life?

"We're trying to-" I started, then stopped when I realized I didn't know this Pokemon. "Wait a second. Why do you want to know?"

"I was just wondering. I won't tell anyone if that's what you're worried about.." the fox Pokemon answered. "By the way, my name is Samantha."

"That's a human name," Victini said, slightly confused at the name her trainer had given her. "Not a Pokemon one."

"What's so strange about having a human name?" It was Samantha's turn to be offended.

"Sorry, you'll have to excuse my friends. They're... Real Pokemon." Mark said apologetically. "We're trying to get out of here."

"Why? They treat you really well here." Samantha said. She plopped down onto her haunches and smiled comfortingly, slightly wagging her many tails in unison.

"Yeah, you may not realize it, but you're nothing but a test subject and another sign that Team Thunder is on their way to world domination! And to cover it up, they pamper you. We might as well be in diapers because they treat us like babies. What you said is an understatement! You're comparing an ant hill to a mountain." I told her, anger climbing up the edge of my voice.

"I..." Samantha blanched. "I didn't think of it that way. I knew that... this Team Thunder you speak of was bad, just not that bad."

I walked up to the door, put my front right paw on the door, charged up electricity. Before I could release it, I saw something extraordinary. I could see the entire circuitry connected to the door. I looked around, exploring deeper and deeper into the door's system, and saw an alarm. If I were to open the doors, it would sound off, informing the entire ship's crew. This was not good.

"What's wrong?" Genesect asked, seeing the trouble on my face. "I might be able to help you."

"There's an alarm connected to the door. If I were to open it, the alarm would sound off, and it's game over." I answered. They all had a concerned look on their faces. "We're stuck in here until we get off the ship."

"So, what now?" Samantha and Mew asked in unison. They looked at each other and shared a laugh.

"We wait, I guess." My stomach growled once again, this time loud enough for Everybody to hear.

"You're hungry, aren't you? They have food this way." She walked off a bit and turned around to see if I was following. "Don't you want to eat? The food's actually good. They even have fresh apples!"

For some reason, my mouth watered when she mentioned that fruit. "I guess I am a bit hungry." She smiled and trotted off towards a large basket-like trough that held various fruit, berries, and seeds.

"Man, this looks great!" Mark exclaimed as he walked up to my side. I picked up an apple and bit into it, the sweet juice trickling down my chin. When that Vulpix said fresh, she didn't lie.

After twenty minutes, we were all stuffed from feasting on the delicious food. Food that we didn't even have when I was kidnapped and put in that "abandoned" building.

"Should we try and escape, even though we'll set off the alarm?" Genesect asked. "Jacob, you're an electric type. Why don't you try to shock the alarm before it sounds, then open the doors?"

"Why didn't I think of that?" I wondered. "Now that I think of it, we might just be able to get out... But we'll do it when the ship docks, before they come to transport these Pokemon, er... I mean, trainers."

"Why do you guys want out so bad?" Samantha asked. She tilted her head in confusion at our behavior

"You might as well call us a Pokemon Rescue Team," I said. "We're going to save every single Transformed trainer, and put an end to Team Thunder."

"Hey... I thought you said that we were only going to save Red." Victini whined.

"That, too," Mark told him. "But we can go the extra mile and save everybody else as well."

"Well, when do we dock?" Genesect asked. Just then, the boat slowed down considerably, meaning it was close to docking.

I looked everybody straight in the eye. "We dock pretty soon. Get ready."

Samantha looked at me with yet another curious expression. "If you're a rescue team, then what's the name of it?"

I was stumped. "Uh... I didn't think of a name!" I rubbed the back of my head with my paw as I gave a nervous chuckle. "I didn't even start an official rescue team, either. I was just being sarcastic."

"I don't get it," Samantha said, with a curious expression.

"Huh?" I was totally confused. "You don't get sarcasm? That's okay, I guess. Most people don't understand it at all."

The Vulpix looked at me awkwardly. "Um... I'm not a human and never was. I have been a Pokemon my entire life. My human was taken by Team Thunder, and they took me away from her. My human gave me my name; I think it's a nice one, too."

"Oh," I said, instantly regretting everything I said. Just then, the boat lurched to a stop. "Okay, get ready everybody." I went back to the door, charged up electricity, focused on the alarm, then released it. THere was a zapping noise as a small amount of smoke came out of the cracks of the door. A few loose sparks of electricity retaliated and shocked me a bit. The door opened, revealing an empty corridor.

"Come on, let's go!" Mark shouted with... Glee? I couldn't tell. We all followed him, soon coming to a slightly tilted ladder that most likely led up to the cargo room. We took turns jumping up to the top, and when everybody got to the top, there was trouble.

It was definitely the cargo room, but around a dozen Team Thunder grunts entered the room and started grabbing crates, cages, and other items. One grunt noticed us and shouted something to the others.

"Come on, we need to hurry!" I shouted as I sprinted to the opening cargo room door. Everybody followed as fast as possible, and even some other Pokemon I didn't recognize. I jumped out and landed on the bay, where several grunts whipped out their Pokeballs. A Kingdra, Crobat, Gengar, and a Charizard appeared.

"Oh, crap," I muttered. Behind me, the others landed on the wooden dock that was supported by four-inch thick stainless steel. The Charizard used Flamethrower, sending a flame of blue fire towards us. The Crobat used air cutter, Gengar melted into the shadows and used Phantom Force, and Kingdra used Dragon Rage. At this point, no ordinary Pokemon would be able to withstand these attacks, but I was not normal.

When the foe's Pokemon were done attacking, there were audible gasps coming both from the grunts and the Pokemon themselves. Not only did I take little damage from those powerful attacks, but I started glowing.

I charged up a large amount of electricity, more than I would be able to withstand in the first place, and let it loose. There was a deafening crack of thunder as all four of the Thunder grunts' Pokemon fell to the floor, twitching. Even I took a great deal of damage.

"How did I not know that you were an Alpha Pokemon?" Mew stared at me with a dumbfounded look on his face.

"...Alpha Pokemon? What's that?" I asked curiously as I held my paws to my burning cheeks. This term somehow seemed familiar to me but from where?

"An Alpha Pokemon, or Alpha for short, is a Pokemon who was once an ancient Creator and was reincarnated as a human. Not only that, but Alpha Pokemon receive devastatingly powerful abilities, strong enough to cause havoc to multiple cities at once. Jacob, you are one of those very few Alpha. The only downside to being an Alpha is the fact that you spend the first three years as a Pokemon. Why that is, nobody knows, even me." Mew stated.

"Wait... You're saying that I was once Arceus, then was reborn thousands of years later as a Pichu? That makes no sense at all! It's... It's impossible!" I inquired. This perplexing condition was more than my mind could handle, and my head throbbed with a painful headache.

"Of course it's logical, and it's not impossible. Anything is conceivable when you give the right mind to it." The God of Wisdom spoke casually as I rubbed my sore temples, trying to ease the migraine that had formed in my brain.

I replied, taken aback by what mew told me. In fact, I was a bit mad. "Well, I honestly don't know what to make of it! What if YOU thought that you were a human your entire life, and then somebody tells you, 'sike! You were actually born a Pokemon! Now you'll have to live the rest of your life knowing this life-scarring memory!' What would you do?"

"Actually, it makes quite a bit of sense to me." Mark blurted out. Oh, thanks for supporting me, friend. "Didn't you ever feel more comfortable as a Pikachu? I'm just guessing." Now things were becoming considerably understandable, due to the facts that Mark had pointed out.

"Yeah, I guess," I admitted after the headache slowly eased. "Ever since I became a Pikachu and got that PokeCore, I took every chance to be a Pokemon." I closed my eyes, only to open my eyes again around twenty seconds later. I could have lived without this information. "I just wish that I could live a normal life. But... I wouldn't have met any of you if it weren't for this. I wouldn't have saved you, Mark." Then, I started sobbing. This was my fate, my destiny. Nothing could have stopped me from getting kidnapped by Team Thunder, which launched me down a steep, slippery slope.

...Jacob, you can't grant your own wishes." Mew stated, folding his miniature arms. His body hovered back and forth, almost as if he were swaying with the beat of a song.

"I know! And I hate this! I never wanted to be what I am, let alone the God of Wishes." I shouted. Obviously right now was the worst time for me to rage and fuss about something that was locked in the fate of Dialga and Arceus. Everybody flinched when my cheeks started sparking dangerously, even me. "I just want to be human! Nothing else, just a regular human with a regular life. You don't need to tell me this... This stuff that I could have lived without! I wish I just disappeared."

"Jacob, I know that you must be in grave pain. But that does not mean that you should wish to vanish or not to exist. Also, the world is filled with enough regular people. It is better to be different than it is to be the same as everybody else. It's better to... To make a stand for what's right." Mew said.

"Thank you." I sniffed. "I guess the world needs more unique people, more... Heroes."

I wiped my tear stained eyes, and for the first time, I looked at the tiny, two-mile-long island that they call a region. The island looked similar to the newly discovered Alola region, as it had many tropical plants, fruits, berries, trees, and there was sand everywhere. The similarities ended there, though. Excluding the Team Thunder base, there was absolutely no human-made structure for what the eye could see. Not only that, but there were patches of what would be called the Void, pits filled with the nothingness that will consume you.

"Ladies and Gentlemen," Mark said with fear as he gazed at the island as well, "Welcome to Hell." He was right; going to jail is a walk in the park compared to this.

"It's more than Hell, Mark," I told him. What was ahead of us was no easy task; somebody could get seriously injured, or worse... "This is the pathway to our destruction."
