3- Wednesday
It keeps getting weirder
" This is unacceptable! " Xerneas hissed, glaring at Lancelot.
" Is something wrong, dear Legendary Pokemon that I never came across of before? " Lancelot said while breaking into cold sweat.
" No. Not with you, human. But with Arceus! " the Life Pokemon replied.
" Ah, what did he do this ti- " Maisen started.
" He allowed that human child to choose in which region he will be reborn! " Xerneas exclaimed, " how can he!? Oh wait, Arceus actually can..." she muttered a few inaudible words before raising her voice again, " Anyway...can I have that pudding? "
She pointed at the remaining half of caramel pudding Lancelot had eaten while discussing with Maisen. Startled by the question, Lancelot was quiet for a few seconds but then nodded. He slid the pudding towards Xerneas.
" Thank you, human. " she said, her voice considerably softer.
Maisen raised an eyebrow. " All that drama for pudding? " the blonde chuckled.
" I know, right! I sensed something was off right off the bat. " the ravenette added. " Enjoy, weird deer-like Pokemon. "
Xerneas did not respond readily, busy eating the pudding. " I am Xerneas, the Life Pokemon." She introduced herself still chewing her last bite. " I reside in the Kalos Region..."
" And her counterpart is Yveltal, the Destruction Pokemon. " Maisen interjected.
" Yeah. He's my brother. Some say he's evil, others think he's heartless. Whatever comes by, Yveltal will always be my brother- unfortunately. " Xerneas continued.
As if on cue, a strident cry echoed throughout Arceus' realm, startling Cresselia out of her sleep. A giant eagle-like Pokemon appeared. His Y-shaped body was covered with black veins and his gem-like blues locked with Xerneas' as he landed before his counterpart.
Maisen leaned over the the table. " I think the clouds here are equipped with loud speakers. " he whispered into Lancelot's ear, " The same music from when Xerneas arrived is playing. "
Lancelot nodded. " That aside, we're kinda trapped between those two Legendary Pokemon, aren't we? " he ravenette whispered back into the blondes ear, " Maybe we should have secured an escape route earlier. "
Maisen gave his senior a weird look. The ravenette raised an eyebrow questioningly. The twelve year-old's shoulders slumped. He pointed indignantly at the never-ending amount of clouds that stretched behind Lancelot. The ravenette's eyes lit up in realization.
He clapped is hands once, " You're right, Maisen! " he beamed at his junior, " if we need to escape, we can all hide within the clouds! "
Maisen facepalmed. " Iddiiiiioooooott!!!!" he shouted. " That's not what I meant! "
" Oh, and what did you mean by 'escape route?' " said a deep voice.
" Why would any of you two need to escape from us. " Xerneas questioned.
Both humans froze. The same thought crossed their minds: ' Ah sh*t! '
Maisen let out an awkward laugh. " Not from you guys...only if we need to escape...ya know? In general, because we are only humans and you guys are, like, FREAKING deities. " he half-lied.
" Yes, yes. " Lancelot hastily agreed and then, the ravenette quickly changed subjects, " Anything wrong, Mr. Yveltal? "
If he had eyebrows, Yveltal would have probably been seen frowning but then, the Destruction Pokemon shook his head. " I meant to meet up with my sister. But on my way here, I heard Xerneas say that, ' whatever comes by, I would always be her brother- unfortunately. ' " Yveltal explained.
" Oh please, " the Life-entity sighed, " there you go being overly sensitive again. It's unlike you, Yveltal. You should be like all those legends imagine you to be: wild, intimidating! "
Xerneas stomped her hoof, " Not some easily hurt and scared Igglytuff who cries over his stolen pudding! "
" What now? " Lancelot asked, confused.
" Interesting..." Maisen muttered to himself, " Fresh gossip for Giratina. "
Yveltal shrunk back a little at Xerneas' remark. He held his sister's severe, unwavering gaze and felt his heart sink.
" Silent, huh? " Xerneas said dryly after a long, tensed pause. She turned and walked away from them. " Farewell, humans. " she added before vanishing among the fluffy white clouds.
A tensed and awkward silence fell between the two humans and the Destruction Pokemon. By the time Maisen finally decided it was time for him to Teleport away, the sky had already taken a purple-ish hue and stars started to twinkle above their heads.
The blonde inhaled sharply. His chair rattled as he pushed himself away from the table. Yveltal and Lanclot gazed at him.
" It's time for me to head out. " the Trainer announced, " Gi said he'd bring me back to Sinnoh. "
" Eh!? " Lancelot shot up from his seat, startling Yveltal, " when are you coming back ? " he asked half pouting.
" I don't know... " Maisen looked away, " Cheer up, I promise I'll be back before you leave, Lancelot. " the boy smiled. He waved at the ravenette while walking away, " Time to Teleport now! "
Lancelot cracked a smile too, " Smell ya later! " he shouted back somehow glad to have used Blue Oak's signature line.
Yveltal watched the exchange in silence. An indescriptible glint lit up his gem-like eyes rested on the ravenette's back.
***
Later that day, night-time
Arceus' realm quieted down as the sky turned dark blue. The fluffy clouds took a slight pink hue. Darkrai could be seen- only with squinted eyes- flying in the distance while Cresselia made her rounds occasionally helping out Legendary which had sleeping problems.
Lancelot down on a standard bed; only big enough for one person with a red blanket Cresselia had prepared for him, gazing into the distance. He had switched his uniform for comfortable trousers and a grey shirt. The teenager sighed as he mind drifted to when he was alive.
" Ahem, " came a deep voice, startling Lancelot out of his thoughts, " May I come in? "
Lancelot whiped his head to the right. His eyes bulged; he did not expect Yveltal to be here!
" Uh...sure..." he replied.
Yveltal timidly approached Lancelot and sat the down; the bed capsized under the Destruction Pokemon's weight making Lancelot slide to the side and bump into Yveltal with little to no space for any possible escape.
A long silence ensued. Both Pokemon and human were brainstorming; one thought of how he could initiate a conversation, the other tried to guess why the Legendary was in his "room."
But amidst all the alternatives that ran rampant within his mind, Lancelot felt coldness emanating from Yveltal. This coldness however was nothing near intimidating or petrifying; it was a soothing kind of coldness. One that would relieve you on a scorching summer.
' Perhaps it's because I am already dead that I find the cold aura coming from the entity of Death soothing...'
The teen pressed hi s lips together, ' It's kinda scary. '
" So...Yveltal. What brings you here? " the ravenette slowly asked, leaning a bit more against the embodiment of Chaos.
Taken by suprise, Yveltal gave the ravenette a curious look. Then, he too gazed into the distance. " I just wanted to talk..."
' Why does it feel like he might confide in me? '
" Unlike what you might think, err...."
" Lancelot. " the ravenette sighed while looking away.
" Lancelot, unlike what you might think I'm only here for small talk. I mean, I'm a Legendary; Yveltal, the Bringer of Destruction and Death. Why would I ever need to someone to complain to? " Yveltal explain before letting out a dry laugh.
Bringing up his knees to his chest, Lancelot smiled sadly as he gazed at the Pokemon who embodied Death, " Sure. Talk all you want. I don't know if Arceus will erase the memories of my time in this realm once the week ends, " the ravenette leaned further against Yveltal, " Even if he doesn't, whatever you're going to say is safe with me. That's a promise..."
The Destruction Pokemon gently nudged Lancelot with his beak,( I guess? ) " And even if you break the silence, although you are to be reincarnated, I could bring you back to the realm of the dead anytime I want, human. "
Both fell quiet.
" Isn't that your cue to start complaining, Yveltal? " the teenager asked after a while.
" I don't think complaining is the word..."
Lancelot rolled his eyes then stared at the embodiment of Death.
" Fine, fine. I'm on it. " Yveltal sighed
" I'm tired of people seeing me only as an evil Pokemon just because I'm the Destruction Pokemon. It's true that as the Pokemon that reigns over death I need to have a strong presence, be intimidating and sometimes indifferent but it hurts to see others cower in fear; thinking that I'll hurt them when I only want to offer my help.
" Worst of all they think I'm completely heartless...I-I..." Yveltal's voice trailed off.
" Feel frustrated? " Lancelot suggested.
" Yes...and jealous, " Yveltal gazed at the human leaning against him, " I envy Xerneas. Everyone loves her. She is endlessly praised in the legends; hailed as guardian of Kalos- all of that only because she was given the power to act upon life. "
Lancelot chuckled, " I feel you, kind of, " he replied, " It's normal to think like that. "
" Is it? "
" Tell me, do you feel- even if it's only a tiny bit better after letting all of that out? "
" Now that you mention it...I indeed do. "
" Right? It's always better to talk about it with someone. You don't necessarily have to face your problems and insecurities right away," the ravenette refused to meet Yveltal's gaze, " but you'll have to face them one day anyway. Even if it might make it worst in your eyes at first, acknowledging your own short-comings is crucial so that you can improve and become a better person, one you yourself, approve of.
" Don't be like that one friend I had; always by himself, keeping all his problems welled up inside. In the end, he regrets. Regrets not supporting his loved ones. Regrets being blind enough to think he was alone...regrets putting on a stupid mask. Even now, " the teenager buried his head between his chest and knees, " and now the person who cherished him the most must be suffering, crying in a corner. " His voice broke.
" I'm sorry mom..." He sobbed.
"... " Taken aback, the Destruction Pokemon did not know how to react, " Hey- hey...don't cry. I'm sure your mom is doing just fine- oh Arceus. Forget what I just said...calm down..."
Lancelot started sobbing even more. " MOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!" he wailed.
" Shhh!! " Yveltal exclaimed, " stop crying, boy- at least cry quietly. " the Legendary was at a lost of words. " C-Cresselia!! " he called out desperately whilst gently rubbing the teenager's back to comfort him.
" Cresselia!! " Yveltal yelled. A few seconds later, he saw the silhouette of of a pink, flying duck-like Lengendary rapidly approaching.
