The reflection of the soul is a mirror of truth, it is a single fragment of the many faces an individual can have. Glimpsed in the eyes of pure hearts, mighty of the invisible, the Avengers were truly the Protectors of the Earth: worthy of the right to live.

Each person is unique, yet this team was so much more than unique. Gathering the forces of centuries, of ingeniosity, of power and hope, they were their own legends.

As a smile reached your lips, proud overwhelming your chest, you felt home. However, it didn't mean you fit in the team, not yet. You needed to prove yourself, to show your strength and how valuable you could be to the team.

So, you offered gently, breaking the small argument between Tony and Steve about the incoming danger that was Thanos. Steve was seeking for help thanks to you while Tony thought that if Thanos could wipe out the universe, they needed something stronger than a dragon.

« Why don't we train together? In that way, you could see how strong I am in my human form. As you said it, Tony, a dragon isn't the only thing we need to defeat Thanos. What we truly need is teamwork and to do so, we need to be prepared. »

The whole team glanced at you, their eyes scanning you carefully. A small smirk enlightened the Russian assassin, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

She stepped forward, her arms crossed over her black suit.

« Let's test your fighting skills. If you beat me, you're in. If you don't, I get a ride in your dragon form. »

A chuckled left your lips, piercing the envious tone of the woman.

« Deal. »

Tony elbowed Bruce, muttering in his ear.

« Who do you bet for? Black Widow or the Dragon Girl? »

« Allow me to protect this area » announced Stephen, activating his Mystic abilities by opening a door to the Mirror Dimension, « Here, your fight will damage nothing. »

Bowing your head to the woman, you let her attack you first, her swift move dancing in the air. Thanks to your enhanced senses and strength, you easily stopped her, your arm blocking the assassin to strike you down. She dodged your attacks, her slinky body spinning on itself to avoid your punches until in one smooth movement, you send her flying through the other end of the room, her body colliding roughly with the wall. She defintely was a wonderful opponent for a human.

« Not bad, Romanoff. You truly are a worthy warrior. »

A series of gasps were heard, but your main focus was on the Red Room survivor. Even Stephen looked carefully at the fight, eyeing your perfect stance, the way you moved and all your fighting technique, as a trail of cerulean blue eyes following you.

Captain America joined the fight, teaming up with Bucky to put you down but even if their strength matched yours, managed to send them to the floor.

« Golden eyes » muttered the Sorcerer Supreme as he noticed your eyes glowing an incandescent shade of aureate colour.

One by one, they analysed your fighting skills, coming back to find a weakness but yet unsuccessful to undertake the end. A honey-blonde aura followed your body, as you moved faster, your dragonish abilities showing up.

Even Vision was astonished by your fighting demeanour where each move was carefully calculated. However, you did struggle a bit when Peter used his spidey sense to tackle you to the ground. His superhuman force allowed him to make you stumble for a second which offered an opportunity for Tony to cast a laser at your struck form.

Wrapping your legs around Peter's waist who gulped at your movement, you used your balance to reverse your positions, now straddling him while raising your hand at Tony's laser.

« Y/N, wait! » Peter shouted, in a weak attempt to stop you.

The laser blast hit your bare hand, your eyes changing from the human pupils to reptilian orbs while your palm slowly glowed a white light. Unbeknownst to your friends, you were absorbing the heat, igniting your intern furnace, welcoming the concentrated fire in your body. As a dragon, you could absorb any kind of heat, regenerating more energy and power for a future strike.

« That was a nice move, Team Iron Man, but not enough to stop me » you stated darkly.

Then you grabbed Peter's hand, getting up swiftly while throwing the boy to Stark who immediately caught him. Next, Tony gasped as he saw you jumped at him,  with Peter in his arms, and brought him down.

Even Strange and Thor had a go at it, the thunder power of the God, bringing out the beast inside you when a bolt of lightning hit you as Strange had multiplied himself and sent a whip at you to hold you down. However, it also made your human form crackled with power. Letting out a scream of anger, which looked like more like a roar according to Sam, you broke free from your bounds, kicking out the two opponents.

Last but not least, Wanda used her power on your brain, pulling out the deepest fear from your mind. Nevertheless, she also triggered something in the process.

A fear has many faces, lurking in the dark places of your spirit or facing you in your daily life. Sometimes, it also has the form of a memory, a dark memory in which you would trade anything to not relive it.

Remind you to forget that the person you had become had come from somewhere, often under the form of a traumatic event.

As the Scarlet Witch muttered suddenly:

« You know him. You know Thanos. »

Your golden eyes slowly were invaded by scarlet nuggets scattering your orbs, until Wand's magic revived vividly your wildest memories.

*

Pain.

Pain in your heart.

Pain in your life.

Pain everywhere.

Death ghosting over the place you once called home, the bodies of your fierce parents laying on the floor, slain by the purple alien, you encountered a tragic fate.

Standing proudly in the smoke of desolation, his piercing eyes locked with yours for a few seconds, looking right into your soul while realisation hit you like a brick.

His golden armour was covered with your parent's blood, their scales paly shining in the depth of the day while an evil smirk tugged at Thanos' lips.

Under your bewildered eyes, tears of pain on the verge to fall, he stated proudly :

« Perfect balance needs sacrifices and death. »

Like a death sentence, clawing your heart of the loss of your parents, you unleashed your first dragon roar, changing into the mythical beast while Thanos vanished during your scream of fury.

*

« I'm so sorry, Y/N », muttered Wanda.

Out of sudden, bright flames encompassed your body, the fiery fire taking the form of a dragon while the Avengers stepped back, absolutely taken aback by the turn of events. They did not expect you to lose your self-control, even if they should have thought about it with the Sokovia's events.

« You have to get out, now » announced Stephen, raising his arm up, but you could see the slight trembling of his hands.

The Sorcerer activated another Mirror Dimension, sending all the Avengers despite some complaints from Stark who countered:

« What do you not understand in the 'wild' Sentinel, Stark?», accentuating in the adjective.

Immediately, the billionaire rolled his eyes and left the Mirror Dimension.

Only Thor, Wanda and Stephen were left in the room, while your dark memories were brought back to life, showing up your deepest fear: to end like your parents.

Slew by the alien seeking for natural balance, destroying and killing what he thought was the solution to the end of the world.

Wanda's power remembered you how much fear your heart bore, and how much anger you had against him. Afterwall, who wouldn't be angry at their parents' murderer?

« Wanda, can you stop your mind trick? »

The Sokovian girl shook her head, a flicker of fear glimpsing in her hazel eyes. For once, she was afraid of what she had triggered.

« I tried but her mind is different than ours. She has to defeat her fear to get rid of my power. »

Thor shook his hammer, ready to start a fight with you.

« From what I see, Lady Y/N is burdened with a tragic event from her past. She has to overcome her fear. I think she needs to let go, to unleash her power. »

Then the blond god smirked.

« What a better way to do that by fighting us? I beat dragons before, I can do it again. Let's go wizard. » he hailed happily.

Stephen sighed, rubbing his temples.

« She just beat us before, and she was in control. What did I get myself into? » muttered the master of the Mystic Arts, clearly irritated by Thor's behaviour.

The Asgardian threw Mjolnir at you, the weapon piercing the air like a sheet of paper. Thanks to your enhanced power, you dodged the weapon, watching it carefully return to its rightful master.

« Is it me or is getting hot in here ? » asked Wanda, looking at her surrounding frantically.

Stephen furrowed his eyebrows, noticing the same change as well.

« It's coming from Y/N. She held her fire breath too long. She needs to let go! » realised Sherlock... wait no Stephen.

As Thor lunged at you at the moment you changed into your dragon form. The god's fist landed roughly in your scaly chest, a sickening crack being hurt as a low grunt emitted from Point Break's lips while you groaned loudly.

Heat emanated from your burning furnace, ready to lash out, ready to finally release the pain of thousand years.

Carved of fury, you threw Thor with your paw, sending him right into Wanda who had barely the time to make a force field to protect herself.

« She's taking back control » mumbled Stephen as he watched in awe the true power of the Wild Sentinel.

Raising your head majestically in the air, your chest glowing of an amber shade, you let out your roar of fury, breathing a blazing fire with flames rising up from your body at the same time.

The roar was so loud and strong, shredding the limits of the Mirror Dimension while your friends held their ears in pain, it broke the dimension down.

You were fire, you were the embodiment of the fiery element.

Like a waterfall of diamonds, the magical spell of the Sorcerer Supreme fell while the team of superheroes watched in awe and surprise your flames danced on the ceiling until Stephen activated a portal to let your fire burn the clouds.

« You asked why she was called the Wild Sentinel, Tony. I think we do know why now, » stated Captain America, patting Stark's shoulder in a gentle manner. The playboy stared in a mix of fascination and fear the dragon cried out its pain. Still, he snickered and said:

« What about the protection part of the 'sentinel', Captain? »

Steve sighed and ignored his question, his eyes settling on your form.

Ant-Man looked at Peter in horror, questioning:

« And you ride that? This is insane! »

Peter blinked at Scott's statement, absolutely mind-blowed by the sight in front of him. He guessed you were strong, but he never thought you could be that strong.

Not only did you have defeated the Avengers, you had also given them a genuine chance for hope and it was something he intended to hold onto as soon as the threat of Thanos would be gone.

Breathing heavily, the fire of your heart dying out, you lay down on the ground.

« No more fear » you dropped slowly, when you returned to your original state, glancing at the team.

A small smile found its way on the Avengers' lips, acceptance plastered on their faces. You were perhaps a monster in legends, in old tales but to them, you were their hope to defeat the most dangerous threat of the universe.

Stephen looked at you softly, his Cloak of Levitation leaving his shoulders to land on yours and stroke your cheeks.

« I'm fine, don't worry dear relic. » you chuckled, amazed by the softness of the item.

You glanced at Stephen who smiled warmly at you, his azure eyes connecting with yours before Peter engulfed you in a hug. His thin, yet strong arms circled your waist while his head was pressed against your chest, his body slightly trembling with fear. You gently stroke his hair, enjoying the softness of his brown strands while you said gently:

« I'm sorry if I scared you. »

A hint of sadness could be heard in your voice, and Wanda looked at the ground, ashamed.

« I do not blame you for anything, Wanda. Thank you for reminding me that fear isn't a weakness. » you thought strongly.

Wanda, having read your thoughts smiled softly at you, her eyes sparkling with gratefulness.

However, the boy argued;

« I was scared for you, not of you, Y/N. »

Your eyes widened at Peter's words, your heart melting and you hugged him back tightly. The kid was definitely an extraordinary person. You also said, determined:

« I promise I will protect you all. I won't let Thanos do the same thing he did to my parents. »

Steve stepped forward, while Peter released you, redness covering his cheeks as he stood next to Tony who patted his unruffled hair.

« However, you do not need protection, we need coordination. That is why I think you should all know how to behave if you have to ride me. »

Steve nodded his head.

« I agree, not all of us can fly. »

Scott said out of the blue, excited.

« Can I go first? »

You smiled and headed to the outside, running a bit and changing into your dragon form while Scott followed you, astonished by your predatory beauty.

« I'm the boss, I'm the boss, I'm the boss » he repeated while he settled behind your neck.

Giving him a toothy smile, you said, smirking.

« Actually, I am the boss »

Then you jumped in the air, while Scott screamed in joy, your wings flapping the air to raise you higher.

The whole ride, Scott kept muttering the name of Ant-thony and you even felt his hands held your scales fondly while tears streaked down his cheeks. When you landed on the ground, Scott was out and Sam helped him get down as he kept saying he missed Ant-thony so much.

You looked at Tony, the playboy arching an eyebrow at you.

« I'm not riding you. Forget it, Daenerys »

You shook your head.

« I was going to ask, why does Scott says he misses you when you are in fact next to him? »

Sam heard your question and answered before the playboy could say something.

« Ant-thony was the carpenter ant and his faithful companion when he became Antman. Ant-thony died during a fight. »

You nodded your head, realising the ride could have reminded him how he used to ride with his loyal ant steed.

« Lady Y/N, I would like to partake this ride with you if you are willing to. I have fought dragons but never ride them. »

You smiled, your fangs showing up and you caught Thor's eyes land a bit longer on your sharp teeth while he shrugged himself and jumped on your back.

He was heavier than the others, there was no doubt but it was no trouble to you. You could lift much heavier, though you hadn't test your limits in terms of weight.

You bounced in the air once again, trying to reach the clouds while Thor laughed loudly, definitely enjoying the ride. He also took the opportunity to talk about a specific matter.

« Milady, I need to ask you something. You once knew my brother Loki, didn't you? »

Taking a turn to avoid a cloud you answered.

« Yes, a lifetime ago. »

The Asgardian took a deep breath, his callused hand tightening against your scales.

« How much did you know him exactly? »

You sighed.

« I knew him too much and it cost me a lot. »

Thor added;

« What if I told you he is alive? »

Your wings steadied, letting the wind carried you while you asked, flabbergasted.

« He's what?! »

Did Thor, the brother of Loki said your first love was alive?

A/N: So anything to say? Did you like it or not? How about the cliffhanger?
