------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Flashes of the past, memories of a lifetime, fragments of love mingled in Thor's statement shook you to the bone. How could a simple phrase changed your perception of life in a second? How could these words carrying good news clawed your heart to death?

Time seemed to fly as your wings flapped one last time, the wind barely supporting your weight while your breath got caught in your throat.

« He is alive. My Loki. » you thought, your mind absolutely puzzled by this statement. Your heart cried for him, mourned him and kept him in a very specific place of your mind: your dreams.

However, Death left a mark on your heart as Love left a scar. It cost you a lifetime of pain and loneliness.

With the violence of a thunderbolt, you stopped flying, the call of gravity undeniably bringing you down. Thor's news felt like a gunshot, tearing your heart in half, divided between the dead love of your past and the rebirth of a spotless love thanks to the Avengers.

« Lady Y/N? Are you alright? » demanded Thor. His blond hair lashing his face as his hands tightened around your spikes. You could sense a glimpse of fear in his voice, yet you remained quiet. Silence held the answer on its own, unvoiced.

No answers were heard, while the god only saw your scaly head danged low as if your body had suddenly gotten numb. Words had impacts, each had a different effect on someone's mind and he god wondered for a moment if he should have asked about his brother on the ground.

Falling through a cloud, breaking through the sky like a comet, the Asgardian started to worry at your behaviour, finally realising the impact of his words.

« Y/N, don't let my brother be the end of you! You are stronger than this! You are the Wild Sentinel, are you not?! » pleaded the bearer of Mjölnir while his words slowly found a way to the reasonable part of your heart, the vivid side of your persona which roared to stay alive.

Wilderness is the untamed force of pure energy, uncontainable and free from any restraints, There are no chains, no cage able to hold you back. No power can harness the wild side of a dragon, neither your first love, neither Thanos. Therefore, as his words found a way through your misty mind, fishing out the glorious beast you actually were, you opened your fiery eyes. This news may have been shocking and completely unexpected, reviving painful memories, but you were determined to not let it be your end.

Spreading your wings out to steady your fall, you roughly flapped the air, desperately trying to get back some control on your flying while the ground got closer and closer. You could glimpse the tiny silhouettes of the Avengers looking at you with frowns of concern and worries on their faces.

Your muscles screamed in pain, flashes of burning waves throbbing through your limbs but you ignored it and readied yourself. It may be one of the only time you heard the mighty god screamed at the top of his lungs while you launched roughly on the floor, the Asgardian being thrown off your back. His body was violently sent in the air until gravity called him back to Earth.  He fell on a few meters, coughing with his red cape wrapped around his form. As soon as you could, you changed back in your human form, your mind boiling with thousands of questions, your heart swelling with pain and relief, your eyes looked like two pools of fiery power, and were directly locked with the storming blue orbs of the Thunder God.

« Lady Y/N, there is no need to fight the truth. » while muttering something about 'the sun is getting low'.

You snickered.

« Says the one whose brother is the God of Lies. How ironic. »

Thor thought it was a good idea to point out.

« He's adopted. »

This statement only refuelled the fury in your eyes.

« How is it better?! Don't you wonder why your brother turned like this? How he became the dark criminal who invaded Earth when he was raised to be a king and when his father, sorry, adopted father raised you both to be kings when there was one throne?! Whose fault is that?! The Loki I knew would have never done such a thing. But no, you were too blind by your own grievances to see your brother was actually under the influence of Thanos himself! »

The god looked at you with wide eyes, his mouth slightly agape as he realised the veracity of your words.

«H..How? »

You had made a god stutter and a smirk tugged at your lips, a dangerous gleam shining in your eyes.

« I may have stayed hidden in the shadows, but even the shadows can see. »

He stepped forward, a frown teasing his forehead.

« You saw him. What did he say to you? »

You shook your head.

« I didn't. I sensed his power, as well as yours. He probably felt mine too, but he did nothing. Then I saw the news and I knew he wasn't himself when he attacked Midgard. »

A veil of shame fell on Thor's shoulder, his muscular body curling up a bit as defeat plastered his face. He truly cared for his brother, but how many times had he been stabbed by him, literally? He doubted himself, he doubted his brother's mind and most importantly, he doubted the brotherhood he had with Loki. He raised his head up, fallen short strands of dark blond hair tickling his skull while he sucked a breath. He knew he should have been there for him and perhaps, he hadn't seen the true meaning behind his brother's deeds.

« You've only seen the tip of the iceberg, Thor. Loki always has a trick up his sleeve. There is so much more at stake. »

You took a deep breath.

« I heard he was dead trying to save you and now you tell me he's alive. How? »

Thor glanced at you, dusting off his clothes.

« You said it yourself, he's the God of Lies and Tricks. He tricked me and ruled Agard while I was here, protecting the world I love. »

You nodded, urging him to continue.

« But he is back. Here, isn't it? »

« You are truly his equal, he talked about you for a long time, happiness lightening his face and truth falling from his slips until he discovered the origins of his birthright. That day, he changed. »

You shrugged and scoffed.

« What did you expect him to do, Thor? To say thank you? »

The Asgardian shook his head, his voice booming and alerting the Avengers.

« Loki is here but he didn't come back empty handed. »

« It can not be », you thought, your eyes widening, « don't tell me he has it. »

« He has the Tesseract. »

A hand landed on your shoulder, instantly releasing the pressure in your fists and you turned your head to look at Stephen, silently telling you to stay calm. You shrugged him off and made your way out of the Asgardian despite his pleas to you to not go. You walked away without looking back as you needed some time to proceed with all these new elements. You came to a halt, away from the Avengers and in the safety of a corridor when you felt a pair of arms wrapped around your waist. Instinctively, you tensed, unused to this kind of familiar treatments until your heard Peter's voice soothed you:

« I do not know what happened between this Loki guy and you but I want you to know you are not alone. When my parents died, I had my uncle and aunt, but you didn't have anyone, did you? »

You shook your head, putting your hands on his to turn around. Face to face, inches from each other, you let his words healed your heart.

« Now you have me. I mean, you have us! » he corrected himself, scratching the back of his head and looking away.

You cupped his face in your hands, looking at him directly in the eyes and admiring for a moment the hazel colours of his pupils. A blush welcomed the boy's cheeks and he gulped at the closeness however he didn't pull back. You brushed his cheek with your thumb, while a small smile of joy appeared on your lips. You leant closer and said:

« Thank you, Peter. »

And you pecked his cheek while the boy stayed motionless in your hands, completely at your mercy as he tried to recompose himself.

« You're so hot » he announced, his eyes popping out in surprise and he corrected himself.

« I mean in temperature. Your skin and lips are pretty warm »

You chuckled:

« Yes, my body heat tends to be hotter when I'm angry or sad. It depends on my state of mind. However, little spider, you helped me get better. Thank you, Peter. »

He struggled with his words.

« Y...You're welcome Y/N. »

You hugged him quickly, enjoying his stone body wrapped yours in a secure embrace but your mind is boiling with schemes to retrieve Loki and the Tesseract.

You pecked his forehead, ruffling with his brown locks and let him go.

« I'm going to find him and bring him back here, alright? In the meantime, help Thor and the Asgardian people fit here. »

Blinking the spider boy looked at you flee out of his grasp and changed in your dragon form to reach the sky to the unknown location Loki dwelled.

Tony Stark arrived the moment you left.

« Where is she heading, kid? »

Peter looked at Tony, confused.

« To Loki. »

The billionaire chuckled.

« Reindeer Games is going to have his butt kicked. ».

Peter's eyebrows furrowed at the man and Tony explained.

« I may have liked women a bit too much, I know there are some hearts that can not be broken. »

Peter smirked.

« Are you growing fond of Y/N, Mister Stark? » exclaimed the kid happily.

Tony crossed his arms over his chest.

« Don't be silly, Peter. »

Then he turned around and walked away, mumbling something about being ridiculously impossible but Peter knew that Tony had finally accepted the Wild Sentinel in their team.

« You really thought I was going to leave the team? Who is coming with me to find Loki? » you asked behind them.

Peter frowned :

« I saw you fly away. »

You brushed his ruffled hair.

« I needed some time to think and I like to do it when I fly.

Even Tony stated under his breath:

« Logical. I'd do the same. »

A smile tugged at your lips but you didn't say anything, happy the genius agreed with you for once. You asked thoughtfully:

« So who will come for this mission? »

Steve, Stephen and Thor arrived at the same moment, and the Captain stated:

« Us and Tony. »

Peter exclaimed.

« And me. I'm coming too. »

You nodded.

« Very well. Take what you need and we can take off in ten minutes. »

Peter asked, tilting his head to the side.

« How are we going through? By plane? »

You chuckled.

« Of course not. You 'll all be on my back, except Tony. »

Steve clapped his hands and stated:

« Alright, everybody suit up. »

*

Crossing clouds after clouds, you flapped your wings faster and faster to reach your destination. Your precious cargo was freezing as you could hear their scattered breath but they remained silent as you flew to Loki's location thanks to Thor's indications. He also informed the rest of us that the remnant population of Asgard was dwelling there in the meanwhile after the destruction of his homeland his hammer, and the loss of his glorious hair.

Soon, you saw the glimpse of a mountain, and the god pointed out:

« There. They are there. »

The rocky dead volcano welcomed the only survivors of Asgard, providing shelter and safety in the meantime and you had to confess it was the perfect hiding place. Away from civilisation and hidden from curious minds.

Swiftly, you turned a bit, letting the wind carry you to the entrance of the icy mountain. However, you didn't expect a sword been thrown at you. Fortunately, thanks to Peter's spider senses, he warned you in time.

« Y/N, watch out! »

A golden weapon brushed your side, and you dodged the attack by raising your wings higher in the air to avoid the attack but you'd recognised this blade anywhere. Your riders gulped and tightened their grip on your scales while you managed to keep your balance, clapping your wings to steady your fly.

« Loki, » you thought while Thor jumped off your back to ease the Asgardian people. You could hear them muttering in fear the words « Dragon », « Death Bearer » « Fire-eater » and so on.

Stark followed the god as well, heading to the ground while the blonde man landed roughly on the floor, creating a veil of ashes.

His arrival made the crowd gasp in surprise, recognising their rightful prince until the feared dragon landed behind him, your head coming to his level to eye him and the rest of the crowd carefully. With a gleam of a query in your reptilian orbs, you glanced at Thor who slowly nodded his head, his gaze transfixed on the people.

« The dragon is not the enemy » warned Thor, his hoarse voice echoing in the cave of the mountain.

« My prince » stated Heimdall, coming out from his hidden place while you locked eyes with him. His black skin was a pale contrast to the amber colour of his eyes and you acknowledged him respectfully which he returned your respect as well.

However, the crowd grew panicked as you stood next to their prince, fear invading their minds while you gazed at them. They were seeing you as a threat, as a danger. You knew that look all too well, and before you had the chance to say anything some warriors charged at you.

The Captain and the Sorcerer Supreme jumped off your back while you stumbled on your feet to stay back. Peter kept clinging on your spikes while sending some webs to slow the opponents down but it was to no avail.

Out of sudden, a voice you thought had been lost for so long, belonging to the charms of death, resonating in the air.

« Stop this nonsense Asgardians! Do not harm her! »

Your whole body froze, as well as the crowd who turned to see the God of Tricks walked through them, marching towards you with a smirk tugging at his lips. He was wearing his common emerald and golden outfit, his black hair slicked back with his eyes sparkling with mischief.

Peter gasped as he sensed your temperature soared and therefore your scales burnt the tip of his fingertips. He immediately got off your back, realising you were mad. As soon as the spiderman freed your back, you changed in your human form. A bright light encompassed you, blinding some of Asgardians who groaned at the sight to then see a very angry lady coming right at Loki with her clenched fists.

« My dear Y/N, what a fortunate event to meet again. You are as lovely as ever, » he said smugly, gazing up at your toned body.

« I wish I could say the same Loki. You told a beautiful lie to me, to the world and here you are, very alive and with an Infinity Stone. » Your tone was cold, detached and completely without sentiments.

« Sentimental, aren't we? It always was your flaw. How is your family? » he countered, grinning.

You narrowed your eyes at him, his words igniting the fiery fire of anger but you clenched your fists harder, determined to not let him twist your mind with his words. You knew the silver tongue he truly was.

« My parent's killer is after the Infinity Stone and therefore after you » you stated.

Tony clapped his hands and shouted, false happiness dripping from his voice.

« Well, don't we have all day to celebrate your return, Frosty? I mean we have all the time we want, with that alien looking for us in space, don't we? Hand us the Infinity stone. You made enough mistakes with it the first time you came on Earth. »

Loki chuckled darkly.

« Oh, it wasn't my first time on your worthless land, Man of Iron. The alien you speak of is Thanos, ignorant quim and he..... »

The Breakdown.

Darkness shadowing the valiant hearts of the Asgardian people, the survivors of a world.

You felt him before you saw him. The bitter scent of death, of threat, of Thanos.

Heimdall looked at the sky, his golden eyes frantically glancing at something in the celestial land with worry written on his face.

« He's here. »

The First battle had come.

A/N: So what did you think? Was the writing alright?
