When The Mighty Falls (Part 2)

Malcolm teleported back to his home realm, a cocky grin overtaking his features. He brushed off the dirt stuck to his arms and walked confidently to a massively sized tube-looking jar standing tall in the middle of the planet. Chuckling deviously to himself, he said, "She can't teach what she doesn't know."

He disconnected his armor from his body and opened a small hole from the bottom to pour into the top of the jar. A glowing, liquid flowed inside and started to fill the inside up. It was not much, but nevertheless did something of worth. Sealing his armor shut in order to reattach it to his body frame, Malcolm looked at the semi-filled jar in satisfaction, his smirk returning, "I hope they give me all they have. This baby will be unstoppable once it's ready."

"What the heck is wrong with you?!" Troy scolded Jake loudly in the alley of the mall.

"It was just a few photos. I thought the suit would hold up." Jake retorts with his hands up.

"What part of 'we're about to de-morph' did you not understand?!" Troy came down on him.

"I understood all of it, thank you." Jake defends himself, "You said about to, not right now. There's a difference in that."

The red ranger was about five seconds away from strangling his teammate. He held himself back from following through and sighed, "Look, we're going to have to check the news and see if anything Power Ranger related is on. Something like this will most likely be posted right away and the media will have a field day."

"And if they got us?" Gia spoke hypothetically.

"Then we make sure Gosei never finds out." Emma responds.

"He's going to find out before people blog about it. We don't have to say or do anything, you guys know that." Troy says.

"But he can't track everything. There's a chance he could miss it." Jake retorts.

"You mean miss one of the only two major rules of a Power Ranger being broken? Yeah, this'll fly over his head." Orion replies sarcastically.

"Well let's just head back and explain to Gosei what happened." Noah suggests.

"That Jake was trying to be Mr. Popular and snag some fame? Yeah, that's going to help your case." Savannah suddenly appeared, scaring everyone.

"You've got to stop doing that!" Emma whisper yells.

"No it's entertaining." The redhead respectfully refused and then turns to the couple, "You're lucky I was still around hiding from the crowd and had a good view. People started leaving once you left."

The yellow ranger sighed in relief and the snake axe wielder did the same, a huge smile stretched across his face, "Good, we're not dead."

"Yeah, but it was another close call. So when I give you a warning, take it." Troy chastises.

"Message received." Jake rolled his eyes. The leader of the team aimed his fist at him and the green ranger held his hands up in surrender, "Okay okay, you're right I'm sorry!"

"Easy." Savannah settles the red ranger with a calm, yet stern expression. Troy makes eye contact with her for a bit and eventually draws back.

"What do you think would happen if they did get you guys? What would Gosei do?" Emma wondered.

"I'd snitch on you guys whether he knew or not." Savannah remarks. Her blunt attitude earns her a look from the others, with Gia and Jake's faces saying 'why in the world would you do that?' She then smiles, "I'm kidding, but you two would be doomed if this was broadcasted."

"Gia?!" A man's voice loudly echoed. The yellow ranger's eyes grow in size as she looks to her right, "Gia is that you?!"

"Is that your dad?" Emma asks and her best friend nods.

"Why is your dad here?" Noah questions.

He did not receive an answer since Mr. Moran found his daughter standing beside a group of people in an alley way. His gray, sophisticated suit made his broad shoulders stand out heavily as he walked over to the band of teenagers, "Hey sweetheart, what are you doing in here?"

"Just talking about graduation and stuff." Gia fibs convincingly and glances at all of her friends, "It is only a week away."

"And I can't wait to see you claim your valedictorian status." Mr. Moran proudly states, "You know, this will mark eight years in a row that a Moran became valedictorian in this district."

"Really? Wow, I-I didn't know that." Gia replies, eyes widened a little, "How great."

"Why don't we all chat inside? I'll pay." Mr. Moran offers.

"I was thinking that we would all do this somewhere more private-"

"Nope he's paying, let's go." Troy cuts Gia off and walks passed her to get out of the alley.

Savannah had to chew on her bottom lip to prevent a smirk from showing when he did that. The blonde wanted to ring his neck. Instead, she forced a smile for the sake of it as she and her friends headed inside to have some froyo.

"Will, has Malcolm reported anything?" Kent asks from his piloting chair. Their ship traveled throughout the universe, slipping quietly under the radar.

"Yes he has." His most trusted solider remarks happily, "His battle with the Rangers went according to plan."

"The jar is no longer empty?" Kent poses in slight shock, although his facial expression said otherwise.

"It's not full by any means, but it's a start." Will says.

Kent smiles maliciously, "Excellent," but then it drops, "but we'll need more. Thankfully we have our own business to attend to. Contact him back and give him the next set of orders. We must obtain as much as we can before mixing it with Morph X."

"Right away sir." Will obeyed and disappeared.

Kent sighs, a small smirk forming, "This will be so wonderful."

The group of teenagers, along with Mr. Moran, sat a table on the left side of the froyo store. The conversation was lighthearted and easy going, the stress of the earlier battle fading away and replaced by peace. The only non-ranger of the group however was preoccupied playing with her phone to care about what was being discussed. A message popped up on her phone, saying, 'Did he sign some contract? Why the hell is he with him?' Her response was, 'Because he cracked under the pressure, that's why. It sucks but, that's his choice, it's up to him if he wants to change sides and save the day or be destroyed with the others.' That is when Mr. Moran revealed, "You know, I went to school with most of your parents."

"Really? You all went to Harwood High?" Noah inquires.

"We all met sophomore year." Mr. Moran and turned to Noah, "Your father and I had pulled some wild pranks, but our senior one topped them all. Have you heard of the great Harwood Heist?"

"When Mr. Lamart's underwear was hoisted up the flagpole? That prank is legendary!" Jake comments.

"That was you?" Noah queries in astonishment.

Mr. Moran chuckles, "Ah, it was a good day."

"How did you get his underwear?" Emma questions.

"His wife came into the school one day and we got her in on it. I'm surprised he never questioned her about it." Mr. Moran explained.

"That is awesome!" Jake reacts.

"Did our class ever pull a senior prank?" Gia wonders.

"Well if they did, thank goodness you weren't involved." Mr. Moran responds to his child, "My friends and I were a crazy bunch back then, but you're too mature and classy for those kinds of stunts."

"Hey Gia can scheme when she wants to, she's pretty clever." Jake defends his girlfriend with a smile, unknowingly earning a glare from her.

"Oh I don't doubt that for a second, but she has too bright of a future to possibly get in trouble for something like that. Of course if she were Travis, then she wouldn't give a crap." Mr. Moran retorts.

Troy raises an eyebrow and leans forwards. "Travis?"

"Yes, he was a wildcard, let me tell you. Everyone knew him or knew of him, he was this crazy little firecracker that pops off anytime he's triggered and never seizes to do the impossible." Mr. Moran says.

"The rebellious type aye?" Orion guesses.

"He gave that a new name the second he step foot into the place. We witnessed some crazy stuff while he was around." Mr. Moran answers.

The team became interested in this part of the past. The red ranger on the other hand looked down while he spun his plastic spoon around in his froyo when he asked, "So you and Travis were friends?" and then looked up. Savannah's attention percolates at his change in body language.

"Oh no, not at all. We passed by each other in the halls and only talked if we had to. He mostly stuck to his group of friends outside of school." Mr. Moran retorts as Jake sips his drink.

"But you two never had a problem with each other?" Troy quizzes.

"No and thank goodness. It seemed like he had a millon problems with the world." Mr. Moran replies.

"Did you ever find out why?" Troy inquires.

"It wasn't my place to ask." Mr. Moran responds nonetheless. The two share a stare for a moment or two before returning to the main topic of conversation, "So Gia, how long have you and Jake been together?"

"Since April tenth sir." Jake retorts as the redheaded ally returns to her phone.

"I assume that you are not wasting her time or distracting her from her studies." Mr. Moran says.

"Not at all Mr. Moran. I admire how dedicated she is to her work." Jake assures him.

"Good. I'd hate for her to suddenly go downhill because she met a boy." Mr. Moran states.

"I'm not dad, my relationship with Jake is not the center of my world. I can separate my work life from my personal one." Gia pipes up, to which Mr. Moran nods.

"Glad to hear it." he then speaks to her boyfriend again, "What college are you planning on attending?"

"Well Harwood University seemed like a no-brainer since it's so close to home, but I wanted to try going out of the city. I'm waiting to hear about my soccer scholarship to Hempferd." Jake unveils.

"Wait what?" Emma inquires in a jovial tone.

"You're on scholarship?" Orion questions, just as supportive.

Jake shrugs like it was no big deal, although Mr. Moran smiled, "Impressive. You know I have a nephew that plays too. He applied for Upwest in Colorado. If you get in, you'll be rivaling each other soon enough."

"He better be ready to bring it." Jake confidently states.

"Oh he will, I saw you play when Gia recorded one of your games. You'll be the one who needs to step it up." Mr. Moran rebuttles.

"Ok bet, it's on." Jake challenges playfully.

"You got it." Mr. Moran challenges back and then the two share a laugh. He then brings the question up to everyone, "How about the rest of you? Any college plans?"

"Well I'm applying for an internship with a professional photographer named Ronald Remenar. I sent him some photos and so far I'm a finalist, but I only have until July 23 to submit a picture." Emma reveals.

"Em, that's great! I'm sure whatever you come up with will be amazing." Orion encourages, to which she blushes at his enthusiasm for her.

"I want to attend either Harvard or Yale. My applications went through, but I didn't hear a response from them yet." Noah announces.

"We if one of them does, good luck. Gia has scholarships lined up for her at the moment. You'll most likely end up seeing each other again in the fall." Mr. Moran tells him.

"Dad..." Gia warns, praying that he would stop.

"They gave out scholarships already?" Noah asks the yellow ranger.

"Well yeah, my GPA and overall school history impressed them so much thay they offered them to me. So...surprise?" The blonde replies with a sheepish smile.

The blue ranger was speechless until he best friend speaks to support him, "Don't worry dude, you're crazy smart too. I'm sure they'll pick you too."

"I'll be happy if you're right." Noah hopes.

"What about you son? Following the same path as your friends here?" Mr. Moran moves onto Troy.

"Uh...not really no." The red ranger retorts.

"Don't ask me, I'm rich." Savannah drops her two sense in briefly despite her focus primarily being on her device.

"We'll what's your GPA?" Mr. Moran inquires.

"I don't know." Troy ripostes.

"SAT?" Mr. Moran then questions.

"1375." Troy replies.

"Well that gets you a foot in the door already. There are plenty of colleges to attend with that score." He says.

"I don't think I want to go to college. I've been too busy as it is." Troy admits.

"The process can be overwhelming. I learned that when I was your age. Of course, college can open so many doors for you, but, it's your decision at the end of the day. I just hope you have a plan." Mr. Moran responds.

"I'll figure out something. Wouldn't want to...end up somewhere I don't wanna be." Troy says.

"Exactly." Mr. Moran agrees. Troy narrows his eyes slightly at him. Gia's dad was about to go onto Orion, but after he checked his watch, he realized that there was no time, "Ooo, I should get going. I have a meeting to get to." He turns to Gia, "You better pick soon Gia. They may not be interested for long. I know you'll make the right choice. You always do."

"Bye dad." Gia waves him off as her father gets up from the table. He exits the froyo store.

"He's a nice guy." Noah comments once he is gone.

"Supposedly..." Troy had his reservations.

"Yep." Gia does not disagree.

"Are you alright?" Emma asks as she senses that her best friend's mood has change.

The blonde sends her a faux smile and responds, "Yeah, yeah I'm okay. It's just...you know how dads are with their little girls. Always so proud when they do great things."

"Well he oughta be proud of you G, you're amazing." Jake compliments and kisses her forehead, to which her smiles grows a little bigger and she mouths, 'Thank you' quietly.

"Okay well, I'm going to see what Malcolm's up to. Are you guys coming or what?" Savannah catechizes, not really in tune with the current topic.

"Yep." Troy immediately replies and stands up to join her. He turns to his teammates, "Guys?"

"I have to work on some stuff, but my morpher will be right beside me if you guys find anything." Gia turns it down.

"Want me to come with?" Emma asks.

"No it's okay." Gia declines and stands up. She grabs her yellow bag in doing so, "I'll see you you guys later."

She then walks out of the froyo store, the others watching her go. Jake makes an attempt to follow her, but Savannah stops him, "Take the hint."

The green ranger sighs, although ultimately chooses to stay.
