When The Mighty Falls (Part 1)
It was a rather cloudy day for Harwood. Not too sunny nor bleak. A predicted high of seventy four degrees with strong winds struck the outside world. A certain blonde had her cell phone in between her shoulder and her cheek, talking to one of her family members on the phone. She is preparing to leave the house for the day, "Everything's set up dad, you don't need to worry."
"I know that sweetheart. I just want you to be on the right foot like your mother and I were on." Her father says.
"And I am. I have a 4.85 GPA and I nearly on every page of the yearbook because I joined so many extracurriculars." Gia lists.
"And let's not forget winning countless academic awards when you were on the decathalon team sophmore year." Her dad adds proudly.
"Yeah. Maywood had to eat our dust! We one by an easy seventy three points." Gia humbly bragged.
"Haha yep, I remember. You dominated up there." Her dad goes on, "Wherever you decide to go, I support you 100%."
"I honestly don't know who to say yes to." Gia replies.
"Well you know, your mother and I-"
"Went to Stanford together and graduated at the top of the class. I know, you've only told me that story since birth." Gia rolls her eyes in finishing for him.
"I guess I've told you that one too many times, didn't I?" Her father chuckled a bit afterwards, "Well, everyone in the Moran family went to a prestigious college. It's why they have such good jobs."
"And so will I. I'll tell you my choice once I figure it out." Gia tells him.
"You better." Her dad says, "I'll be coming down to the mall later today to see you and we can go over all of the scholarships you have."
"Oh...um, okay, sounds great dad." A tinge of worry settles within her.
"Good. I'll see you then, alright? I have to get your little brother out of bed." Her dad replies.
"He better enjoy these last few days. High school is going to be huge wake up call." Gia comments.
"Well it was never a problem for you, my little golden girl." Her dad gushes once more. Gia inwardly cringes, "It shouldn't be hard to whip him into shape."
"Alright, bye dad." Gia hangs up.
"Hey you." The yellow ranger turned. Seeing his face, she threw him a smile as if to say, "Hey", back. The green ranger sees her packing, "What are you doing?"
"Getting ready to meet with the Honor Society. We're putting together our resume for when jobs line up." Gia tells him, "We've had our interviews throughout the year, but this will be sent out more officially."
Jake nods, "Well you're a shoe in. The college boards would be crazy not to take you."
"I've already gotten scholarships and stuff. I just need to choose which school to go to." Gia replies and slings her bag over her bag to carry.
"What schools?" Jake asks in curiousity.
"Oh you know, Stanford, Yale, Harvard, the University of California and some other places." Gia named a few.
Jake whistled, impressed, "Wow that's huge G. Noah would be jealous."
"Hence why I plan on telling him soon. Humbly bragging of course." Gia says as she walks up to her boyfriend.
"Of course." Jake mocks a little, making Gia roll her eyes, "Well whatever you pick, you'll do great. I just wish it wasn't so far."
"Hey, you can always visit me or call or text." Gia reassures him, "Besides, I'll be coming to your games when I get a break."
"I'll most likely be playing against any one of those colleges you go to, so I'll give you the heads up." Jake responds.
"I'd appreciate it." Gia says and the two briefly kiss before she grabs her book, "Okay, I'll be back later. Tell the others I'm only a call away if something comes up."
Jake nods and moves out of the way so she can exit her bedroom. He watches her leave, smiling to himself. A bright idea pops into his mind when he is alone. He had been in her bedroom before, however with her gone, he could "browse". His mischievous mind carried him to the drawers. The soccer player walked over and went to open it when he heard, "You won't have any fingers left if you touch anything!"
A head popped in from behind, causing Jake to immediately flinch and turn around, "I value my fingers."
Gia points at him in warning before heading back downstairs. The green ranger sighs, but respects her wishes and leaves.
****(Theme Song Break)****
"Where are they?" Malcolm wonders from high ground. His eyes went from one side to the other, searching for his enemies. He scanned every nook and cranny, but saw nothing. Shaking his head in frustration, he grumbled, "Ugh, I wanted to catch them off guard." A sigh then escaped his lips, "Fine, I guess I'll do it the regular way."
"Draw them out?" The soldier that stood beside him guessed.
"Yep." Malcolm confirmed.
"Alright." His loyal soldier complied and raised his communicator, "Men, meet at the city plaza in ten minutes. We need to destroy some scums!"
"And try to get a taste of that power they possess." Malcolm added with a devilish smirk.

"Hey everyone." Gia greets when she sees the Harwood High Honor Society sitting down in the grass and joins them.
"It's about time you showed up. Matthew's been pissing me off for the last half hour." Rachel complained.
"She's just mad because she has-"
"Shut up." Rachel cut him off, making him chuckle.
"Anyway." Gia had everybody back on track, "Daniel brought his laptop so we can see what kind of jobs would most likely match our skills and recommendations. Danny?"
"Well for starters, my 4.63 GPA opens up many doors. I'm attending Harvard next fall and I've already typed in what I might be good for just by grades alone." Daniel says.
"You better not say a doctor because I'd die if you operated on me." Janice joked.
"Okay first of all, it was a toy and we were nine, you can't count that." Daniel replies, "And second, I didn't say anything specific, but I would be a darn good doctor if I tried."
"Mhm." Jerry disagreed wholeheartedly, resulting in everyone chuckling.
"Whatever, it says that I can achieve any high paying job I want." Daniel continues.
"You do know GPA doesn't matter after college right?" Rachel remarks.
"How do you figure?" Daniel asks.
"Look, your Doctorate or Bachelor's is what matters in college. You can get paid more based on how high your degree is. That's what matters more than your highschool GPA, which is why I'm not getting a job just yet. College will open more doors for me than high school." Rachel explains.
"School doesn't teach you how to prepare for life, the system provides the basics and try but fail to build off of that. All you need is pre-K to 9th grade to be academically educated." A different voice suddenly snuck into the conversation and the group looks up to see who it is.
"Savannah?" Gia questions.
"That's my name, don't wear it out." Was her response, slowly taking a look at the Honor Society, "The life skills necessary for survival aren't taught in most high schools, which is one of the reasons why some fall off the bandwagon after graduation and have no idea what they're doing and end up still living with their parents for so many years."
"Or they don't have a proper plan and wing it too much." Rachel adds.
"Smart girl, I like you." Savannah comments, making Rachel smile with pride.
"I don't see the problem with living with your parents." Matthews shrugs.
"For your entire life where you still have to live under their rules with no say so like you're nine years old again?" Savannah inquires.
"....Oh snap." Matthew shudders at the thought.
"Exactly." Savannah says.
"Savannah not to be rude but, why are you here?" Gia queries.
"Jake told me you'd be at the park and I was wondering what time you wanted to train with the others." She tells her.
"Train for what?" Matthew wonders.
The girls glanced at one another, "We all train in martial arts." Savannah lied smoothly before Gia could come up with an answer, "We compete in competitions locally and outside of the state."
"Woah, that's awesome!" Janice reacts happily.
"That'll be perfect to put on your resume." Daniel makes a note of that.
Gia nods and then looks back at her teammate, "Um maybe at like 2:30."
"K, I'll tell them that-"
A huge explosion sent big groups of people running back to their homes. The yellow ranger and the redhead shared a look and prepared to leave, "Well finish this up tomorrow guys, alright?"
"Okay, stay safe." Daniel replies before looking to the others, "Let's go, my house is the closest."
The two girls headed in the opposite direction to go and face the trouble. Gia whipped out her morpher to contact the team, "Guys, Kent sent out his goons again, meet us-" she stared at Savannah, who had the coordinates and showed them to her, "Meet us at the plaza!"
A battered woman stumbled to the side of the street in pain. Gia immediately tended to her to make sure she went somewhere safe. Savannah started to take care of the army that had arrived in the city. She was a few soldiers in before a familiar face blocked her from doing more damage, "Malcolm?"
"Well, it's been a while hasn't it?" The leader of this gang greets her.
"It has, why are you here?" Savannah asks.
"Why does it look like I'm here?" Malcolm questions her back.
The redhead shook her head, "You said you got out."
"It's either this or I would've suffered for years. And I'm not going out like that." Malcolm tells her.
"So you give in and would rather fight for him? Kill for him?" Savannah inquires.
Malcolm's sword collides with hers in a stand still, "At least I'll have some honor to my name."
Savannah scoffs, "That's not honor, that's weakness."
Malcolm, offended and triggered by that comment, begins the real fight with her. The yellow ranger, after finding a place where the woman can be taken care, morphs and gets back into the battle. Thankfully she was joined by the others, whose surprise attack rendered the men helpless for a moment, "you rang?"
Gia playfully rolls her eyes at her boyfriend before firing her weapons towards three guys, "Thanks for joining the party."
"Anytime, watching enemies fall is a highlight, is how my biceps thrive." Jake manly bragged and held down a soldier. The two doubled teamed him by performing spin kick to his head, making blood drip down from the side.
"Cute, but save it for the bedroom." Gia winked.
"Flirt later, fight harder!" Troy interrupted over from the corner, kicking a man to the wall.
"Alright alright." Jake answered and then whispered to Gia, "...C-blocker."
"What'd you call me?" Troy questioned and the couple shared a chuckle before handling the next round of men.
"Hiyah!" Emma shouted when she took down two oncoming attackers. One tried to surprise her from behind, but Noah caught it in time and blasted him backwards. The pink ranger looked back and then thanked her teammate.
"Ugh!" Orion's back hit against the concrete floor. The opponent he was dealing with was tough, as were the other guys. The silver ranger had his work cut out for him when he struck fast.
"I dreamed we would meet one day so I can get rid of the last known Andresian." The soldier spats evilly.
"How do you know about me?" Orion quizzes.
"The Armada wiped out everyone on your planet, but said one survived." The soldier replies.
"You worked with the Armada?" Orion queries.
"The buzz from them spread like wildfire. We talk and do business from time to time because they know that we are more sufficient and powerful." The soldier says.
"I can't disagree, but don't think this'll be an easy win!" Orion retorts and flips him to the ground.
While the two carried on to duke it out, Malcolm managed to pin Savannah to the wall, "So, how've you been? The seven years without you have been odd."
"It's been hell, but why would you care? You don't carry the same burden." The redhead snapped, using both feet to kick him off of her at the last word.
"Of course I don't, which is why I could choose this for myself." Malcolm replies.
"Bad choice." Savannah judges.
"Why because you don't agree?" Malcolm retaliates.
"Because I know how it ends." Savannah corrects him.
Troy handles a few baddies and ushers civilians to get somewhere safe. His fellow sky ranger uses her power bow to shoot at two guys running to charge him. The red ranger in return blasts one guy down approaching her. The blue ranger soon joins them and the three morph into a new mode, "Legendary ranger mode, dino thunder!"
Their roaring abilities kick in to give the major boost they need. The green and yellow ranger manage to take down the final guys they see before meeting up to help the other. Orion's target escapes him to assist his men. Malcolm does the same, despite having to hold his side for a second or two due to the female warrior kneeing his ribs, "Ready to fail?"
"Seems like we're kicking your butt actually." Jake smugly responds.
"Really?" Malcolm questions. That is when the people that had been down before seemed to return to their feet, "Because even though you hit hard, no one is truly defeated."
"Crap..." Troy muttered, looking around.
"Legendary ranger mode, Mighty Morphin!" Gia, Jake, and Orion called out.
Malcolm in turn surprised them all and held up his hand commandingly, halting his men from attacking, "Stand down, this one's all me."
"No help? Pretty stupid!" Jake taunts.
Malcolm smirks, "Well see about that." and proceeds to charge at the team. The rangers, including their new ally, ran to battle the soldier. Clash! They all fight hard and fast, changing from left to right. Sharp, swift, smooth, and loaded with suffering for both sides in participation. Malcolm struck their ribcage by a powerful strike. Half of the team went down while the others dodged it in time. He aimed to try and have them stay down, but was blocked by a firey, pink force field that attacked him. The pink ranger smiled in pride, although failed to pay attention to when she removed the force field. Patches of fire burned from behind, which she was quick to remove and sheepishly remarked, "Sorry! I don't have full control over that yet!"
"At least you didn't burn down a building, I did that a couple of times at the age of four, don't ask how." Savannah quipped back before jabbing her fist in Malcolm's face. A cracking sound from his jaw had him holding his face for a second, giving the team the opportunity to attack.
"Rangers united!" The entire team shouts in a line, shoulder to shoulder while whipping out their weapons, "Final strike!"
Their dynamic victory charge combined excellently to gain a great source of power. The blast sliced through the air and blew Malcolm into the railings. He bonked his head of the staircase and came tumbling down to the floor, stopping on his stomach. The team watched him poke his head up and glare at them all, his hands supporting his slow uprise, "Not bad..." he then smirked, "But not good enough."
He vanished in thin air. Everyone stood confused as to what he meant by that, however did not have time to discuss as people who were viewing the fight from inside came rushing out with smiles and clapping with gratitude. The redhead of the group made herself scarce and hid before they could see her. The rangers found themselves surrounded in a mere amount of seconds. Jake, being who he is, grinned under the helmet and took advantage of the situation by waving to the civilians. Troy however felt some panic beginning to settle in and was quick to take control, "We have to go, we're about to demorph."
The others nod and followed him to find a place to hide. The yellow ranger turned back when she saw that not everyone was present and saw that her boyfriend was too busy taking pictures with fans and signing autographs. A girl with dark, black hair wrapped an arm around his waist and smiled into the camera. Her hand began to slide a little too far down for both of the couple's liking. Gia shook her head, "Oh heck no!"
She marched over to the soccer player and gripped his wrist so hard it nearly snapped. A bunch of aww's were left behind while she dragged him away from the crowd. A yellow and green aura formed around the two, removing the suits from the two young adults. Their eyes widen and they moved faster and spoke in a whisper, "Are they still there?"
The blonde did not want to risk looking back just yet, so instead, she yanked him behind the nearest wall and then proceeded to check, "I don't know if they saw. Dang it, we're so dead."
"No I am, that was on me." Jake replied in guilt. A teasing smirk appeared on his face a second or two later at her behavior, "Sooo, not to fond of that girl are you?" The tomboy slapped him in the chest and he reacts in pain, "Ow! Watch it, injuries."
"Would you focus? Someone could've snapped a photo or worse! We'll be on the news if this gets out!" Gia chastises.
"Woah calm down, we don't know who saw what. Everyone was behind us, so they most likely took a picture of our backs, which would be weird if they did." Jake tries to reassure her.
"Or someone caught us from the side or from the rooftop building with the huge window." Gia says worriedly, "If Gosei hears about this, that's it, we're done!"
"Who said we had to tell him?" Jake asks.
"You're right we don't." Gia agrees and her partner replies, "Exactly." with a smile until he was whacked a few times consistently in each beat of her voice, "Because he'll al. ready. know!"
"Okay okay, let's just meet up with everyone else and we'll see what we can do." Jake attempts to settle her nerves.
The blonde sighs, "Fine, but just for this you and the others are going to Ernie's with me to meet with my dad."
"Your dad?!" Jake reacts, now feeling anxious.
"Yes, he's been wanting to meet you ever since we started going out. Seems like a good time as any," Gia says, "Let's go."
The two began to run to catch up to everyone else, hoping that they had better luck than they did.
