Underlying Woes (Part 6)

Savannah whips her keys out from her pocket. Clicking the button, the sound of a car horn blares. The team is startled. Orion questions, "What was that?"

"My ride. It takes a while to get from here to my place." Savannah answers.

Jake turns to her, "How did you bring your car onto the sand?"

"It's made out of special material. Come on." Savannah replies as she walks off. The group share a glance. The young redhead faces them again, "This may be your only chance to ride around in a Lexus."

"I call shotgun!" Jake immediately pipes up. Using her powers, Savannah unveils her set of wheels. Orion whistles at the beauty of it. The team follows suit and gets inside of the vehicle.

"We good?" Savannah asks. Everyone nods, "Kay." Fastened tightly, she drives the crew away from the base.

The ride itself felt blissful. Wind patterns at a relaxed pace. The tempo just right. Well, more or less. You see, whenever cops were not in sight, Savannah increased her speed. This was no different. Jake had no complaints, however, his girlfriend had her reservations, "Hey you might wanna slow down!"

"It's better that we don't! The faster we move, the more time we'll have!" Savannah replies.

"You never get pulled over?!" Orion questions.

"I take shortcuts! No one sees me for miles!" Savannah retorts. Her eyes squint when something lands in her line of vision, "Aww crap!"

"What?!" Jake asks. He looks ahead for himself. He sees what she does and worries, "Aww no."

"Hang on to something!" Savannah warns the gang.

Fast and the furious style, she makes a hard yield. Her swerve knocks three, incoming soldiers off their feet. The car comes to a halt. Everyone jumps out and takes their stance.

"Round two?" Will presumes.

"Your mistake!" Savannah challenges.

Will and his team charges at the heroes.

'Extend beyond your powers? What does that even mean? How do I do that?' Emma ponders as she walks down the sidewalk, 'Can I do that? Ooo, I wish Troy got his animal spirit too. Maybe we could work something out. Oh who am I kidding? I got lucky the first time.'

"It takes time." Troy speaks from her right. Emma jumps, "You were talking out loud."

"Oh..." Emma sheepishly realizes.

Troy chuckles and shoves his hands in his pockets, "Emma, you're stressing too much. You have to relax."

"This coming from you? You never think it's over. How is that not stressful?" Emma makes a point.

"True, but this isn't about that." Troy remarks, "You've been off all day. I won't push you, but I am worried about you."

Emma sighs, "It's just...I wanna be taken seriously."

"You are taken seriously." Troy says.

"Oh come on! You said it yourself, I don't have the same experience you and Gia and Jake have. Heck, I did go into a sparring class for a photo assignment." Troy had to bite back grin dying to appear on the last part, "It was a collage for art class."

"I don't think any less of you." Troy responds, "I never did. I shouldn't of said it like that, I'm sorry."

"It's okay. It's not like you're wrong." Emma replies, "But still, we can't connect with our animal spirits unless we do what Casey said."

"You'll figure it out." Troy spoke with certainty in his voice.

"You aren't worried about yours?" Emma asks.

"I would be if I had one." Troy retorts.

"What?" Shock radiates from the phoenix ranger, "You don't have an animal spirit?"

"Nope." Troy ripostes.

"That doesn't make any sense. How? Casey's the red ranger, which means you should-"

"Well I don't. It's why he pulled me over. I guess that's the one power I don't have." Troy explains.

"But...but what about when we first unlocked Jungle Fury mode? You had it then!" Emma combats.

"Because of you and Jake. It was all because we fought together, that's all. The power carries when there's so much of it at one time." Troy shrugs nonchalantly, "It's just not gonna happen for me."

Emma could not believe it, "Wow..."

'It's better this way,' he inwardly says to himself. In spite of his thoughts, a tinge of anxiousness swept through. Troy pushed it down. He had to, just like with everything else. Suddenly, a shake of the ground stops them both. Giving each other a glance, Emma takes out her morpher, "Tensou?"

"There's an attack, in between the beach and the city!" The little robot frantically informed.

"Send us the coordinates!" Troy commands. With a nod, the sky Rangers dash to help their friends.
