Underlying Woes (Part 5)
Emma's jean jacket lays on the boulder only a few feet away. She stretches out her body to the left of the current red ranger. Casey walks over to Troy to shake his hand, to which he gladly takes, "First time meeting."
"It's an honor." Troy says as they let go. He glances at Emma before whispering, "She hasn't been great lately."
"Hmm." Casey peers over at her as well, "She may lack personal connection to her animal spirit."
"But you taught it to her." Troy says.
"I did. It's more than just teaching a few simple moves. You have to have a bond with your animal spirit, otherwise, the power deep within you will never be truly discovered." Casey explains, "Speaking of which, have you gotten in touch with yours?"
"Oh no! That's a bad idea. I think I'm fine just where I am." Troy declines.
Casey raises an eyebrow. Emma interrupts before he can question him further, "Ready!"
"Okay, you two, face off." Casey instructs. The duo stand opposite one another, "Strength is more than physical. Fight from within." He looks to Emma, "Dig deep." She nods and he steps out of the way, "Begin!"
Both heroes come at each other. Troy performs a roundhouse kick. Emma ducks. She retaliates with a punch, but he catches it. She meets the ground first in a thud. Huffing, the phoenix ranger uses her feet to kick herself back up. Casey quietly views the fight. His eyes squint a little as he goes back and forth between the two.
In any other circumstance, he would show no mercy. In any other place, he could do whatever he felt necessary. But this was not one of those times. 'Don't go too hard.' The red Megaforce ranger relays in his mind. He blocks her oncoming kick. Emma however does not stop there. She knocks the wind out of him with a, "hiyah!" to the side of his stomach. Troy rolls on the ground. His hands stop his tumbling and he snaps his head upwards.
Proudly, Emma places her hands on her hips. Out of nowhere arrives a pink light surrounding her. Emma looks down and around. The familiar glow excites her, "Yes!"
"Woah..." Troy reacts.
"You've tapped back into your animal spirit." Casey announces, "It's been at rest."
Troy pushes himself to his feet and jogs over to the two, "Awesome!"
Casey nods, "Yes, but you're not done."
"What? But I've tapped in, what else is there?" Emma asks.
"You have to use it. You have it sure, but how you use it matters just as much." Casey states.
"But I thought the whole point was to unlock the Jungle Fury powers. We've done that already." Emma says.
"And how did you use those powers?" Casey inquires.
"We beat the monster." Emma answers, "We saved everyone."
"Mmm, that was the goal then. What's the goal now?" Casey questions next.
"What it's always been, to protect the world." Emma replies.
"How are you supposed to protect the world if you can't extend yourself beyond your abilities?" Casey quizzes.
"Huh?" The two simultaneously query.
"Dig deep. Your powers can only take but so far." Casey reiterates.
The pair of young adults share a glance. Ring! Troy pulls out his morpher. He hears Gia say, "You guys okay?"
"Yeah we're alright." Troy assures.
"Okay, meet us at Savannah's house. We've got an idea on how to take on Will." Gia informs.
"We're coming." Troy replies.
"We've gotta go. Thanks for coming Casey." Emma sweetly says and rushes to grab her jacket to leave.
Troy aimed to follow until Casey pulled him back. The former cub tells him, "You can't bury your animal spirit forever Troy, no matter how dangerous you fear it may be."
"I'm not going to hurt people by letting...whatever's inside of me loose." Troy rebuts, "It's not worth it."
"You'll hurt people more by pushing it away. You need to tame it. You risk doing major harm, especially to yourself." Casey advises, "Nothing bad will happen unless you let it."
Troy says nothing. Giving the legendary hero one last look, he steps back from him and runs off to catch up with Emma. Casey sighs.

"Men! Fall in line!" Will orders. His group obediently scramble to stand in front of their commander. Once in place, he continues, "Now, Kent wants us to go out again. He's not happy with this morning's effort."
"Is he ever happy?" One soldier comments. Some of the others chuckle.
"...Who knows." Will replies, "But we don't want to be the target of his wrath, do we?"
"No sir!" Everyone yells.
"Good. We strike again today. Once we have the Rangers, we move onto phase two. Understood?" Will asks.
"Yes sir!" They all grasp.
Will nods, "Good. Move out!"
The team disperses. Turning around, Will smirks mischievously, plotting silently.
