Underlying Woes (Part 2)
Early sunrise and fresh grass with morning dew. The heroes slept peacefully in their beds and chose not to face the music yet. All of the heroes except for a couple. One had been outside for the remainder of the night while the other did receive a few hours, but not many. Said person walked into the kitchen and grabbed an apple from the bowl on the counter. He took it upon himself to then open the blinds to the window in front. As he did so, his eyes caught a young woman moving effortlessly, practicing.
One kick, two punches, a right and left hook, three jabs, and a couple of dodges. Her flips and dives were choreographed so spectacularly, she was a natural. A smile slowly crept onto the young man's face, his attention certainly captured. Her focus, her level of balance, the mastery of detail. How was this possible? She landed on her feet with grace and stopped to take a sip of water.
"Morning early bird." Emma greeted in a cheery voice.
This startled Troy, "Oh hey, I thought you were still asleep."
"Um, you do remember we still have school right?" She reminded him.
"Not really, it's just graduation practice." Troy corrected her.
"Yeah, but we have to be there by nine thirty or we're going to be the only kids standing while everyone else is on the bleachers." Emma replies, taking out a packet of herbal ginger tea from the cabinet.
"Is that yours?" Troy asked.
"Well it's here and I ran out. Savannah said it's cool since we live with her now." Emma answers and pulls out a jug of water from the fridge.
Troy shrugged and sat down, "Well make sure you tell her. We don't need a cat fight."
"Oh please, you'd love that." Emma rolls her eyes playfully.
"You mean driving you to the hospital after Savannah nearly kills you? No I wouldn't." Troy responds, "I say nearly because she likes you."
"And what makes you think she could hurt me so easily?" Emma inquires.
"She can kill me in an instant despite my martial arts background. If I can't beat her, you wouldn't stand a chance." Troy retorts.
Emma stops pouring the water into her cup and turns around to face him, "What do you mean by that?"
"You do you mean what do I mean?" Troy questions.
"It sounds like you're saying that you're a better fighter than I am." Emma says.
"Well, I do have more experience. I'm not the only one though. Gia and Orion have done some training prior to us becoming Rangers. Jake's athletic abilities help him, but it's not the same." Troy stated truthfully.
"What so Noah and I are the weak links?" Emma posed, almost accusing.
"What? No, I never said-"
"But that's what you meant." Emma remarks, concerning her friend.
"Woah Emma, I never said you guys are weak, because you're not." Troy tried to defend himself and reassure her at the same time, "You're part of this team for a reason, you're plenty tough."
"But just not as tough or as strong as you three?" Emma presumes.
"Well...yeah." Troy confirms.
"Wow, I didn't know you could be so cocky." Emma responds.
Troy stood up from his spot, "It's a fact, not cockiness."
"Are you sure about that?" Emma queried.
"I'm sorry that it offends you, but have you even stepped into a gym or any fighting class before wearing the suit?" Troy inquires to her.
"Yes in fact I did-"
"Why? To take pictures for the yearbook?" Troy teased.
"No! ...Marisol had that job." Emma combats oh so spectacularly, "But I'll have you know that BMX riding has a lot of perks on its own."
"I'm sure it does." Troy replies. He bites back a cheeky smile that does not go unnoticed. Emma smacks the back of his head, "Ow!"
"Do you seriously think I'm not that strong?" Emma inquires.
"Emma, you're strong enough...ow..." Troy still reels from the smack, "Look just because you didn't train before doesn't mean you're any less of a Ranger than the rest of us."
"Well it sure seems you think that way..." Emma mutters. That was the first piece of dialogue from the conversation that Noah heard when he came down the steps. He peeks his head around the corner and watches them.
"Why are you getting upset? I don't think anything bad about you." Troy says.
"What do you think about me?" Emma quizzes.
"Well..." Troy begins, "I think you're sweet, caring, smart, and compassionate."
"Oh." Emma's tone shifts upon hearing his words. A cute expression forms on her face, "What else?"
Troy chuckles at her response, "That's about it."
Emma's smile drops, "That's it? I thought you said I was plenty tough."
"You are, in your own way." Troy retorts. Emma is quiet, contemplating on what to say to this. The red ranger looks past her, calling out, "Hi Noah!"
The pink ranger spins around to find the resident genius of the group hiding behind the wall. Busted, Noah smiles guilty at the pair, "...Hi."
"How long have you been there?" Emma queries.
"Not long." Noah answers, "Is everything okay?"
"Yeah." Emma retorts and stares back at Troy. He gives her shoulder a squeeze as his way of agreeing. When he goes to the fridge, the naturistic teen nods to herself, "Yeah."
Gia had just woken up from her slumber, the sun shining on her face. She checked the alarm clock she borrowed from Emma that read eight o two am. The snores from her boyfriend made her look over to her right, to which she shook her head and stood up. Jake was awoken by a pillow to the face, "Hey!" he saw that his girlfriend had her hands on her hips and a smile on her face, "Don't do that."
"Please, you've been hit worse." Gia says, "We have to get up. Graduation practice is today."
"How much longer do we have to do this for?" Jake asked with a whine.
"We just started two days ago, so we don't stop until next Monday." Gia reminded him and he sighed, "You can always sit on the sidelines while the rest of us-"
"Yeah yeah, I get it." Jake understood as he stood up.
Gia was about to say something else to him, but a knock on the door interrupted the pair, "Hey."
"C-blocking!" Jake accuses with a pointing finger.
Gia rolls her eyes, "We weren't even doing anything. Come in Orion."
"Oh I just wanted to know if there's anything I should bring. I've never been to one is these things before." The alien replies.
"You have to bring anything. It's just rehearsal. The actual night is where it counts." Gia explains. She walks up to the silver ranger to whisper in his ear, "But just between us, orchids go over really well with Emma."
She heads off to the bathroom. Orion put up a finger to ask something, but she was already gone. Jake gets up, "You don't know what an orchid is, do you?"
Orion sheepishly grins. The green ranger chuckles, "I'll show you before the big night."
The duo then exit the room. Meanwhile downstairs, the young redhead enters the house from the backdoor. The trio of Rangers in the kitchen was not a greeting she was accustomed to. Nevertheless, the sight did not bother her, "Hey kids."
"Hey." They all greeted together.
"Okay don't do that, that's freaky." Savannah says as the pink ranger finished making her tea, "Well since I'm done, I get to go with you guys."
"You're coming to our graduation practice?" Noah catechizes, surprised.
"Yeah. Why is there a problem?" Savannah questioned back.
"No it's just, we didn't think you'd care about that." Troy answers.
Savannah shrugged, "Well I mean, Orion told me that he's going, so I don't see why not. Besides, Noah and Gia battling for the microphone when they announce valedictorian should be a good show."
"I still don't know who actually has it. The principal won't say anything until the week of graduation." Emma says, putting some sugar in the cup.
"I know Noah's been going into his office daily just to ask and Gia has been trying to one up him in everything he does. Those two should just both get the honor and call it a day before I hear one more 'interesting fact'." Troy adds to that, putting quotation marks around the last two words.
"Well regardless of who gets it, they're crazy smart and can get into any college they want." Savannah points out.
"Not if we don't destroy Kent soon. I would hate for them not to go to the school they want because of him." Emma states.
"Which reminds me, after practice we need to scout the city. I can do an overview of other parts of the globe in case anything is up." Savannah tells the two.
"You can do that?" Troy questions.
"There's a lot of things I can do, but you don't want to know them all." Savannah leaves the room with that sentence lingering in the air.
Troy stops and turns his head as she walks upstairs, yelling, "Yes I do!" Emma giggles at his comment, shaking her head, "What are you laughing at?"
"Nothing, totally nothing." The brunette replies before taking a sip of her tea.

"Ooo, Gosei! Gosei! Something is happening." Tensou squeaks from the floor rolling around.
"What is it Tensou? The tiki head inquires.
"The Jungle Fury keys are glowing, but the Rangers aren't morphed." Tensou informs.
"Hmm." Gosei thinks, "Perhaps the Jungle Fury Rangers may be coming Harwood."
"Oh I don't know about that, I would've seen them already. Oooh, what if something bad is going to happen?" Tensou says worriedly.
"Relax Tensou, this is good, we'll need to alert the Rangers about this." Gosei tells him.
**********
Standing on the ledge of a huge company was a dark, muscular shaped human taking in the scene of Harwood County. The crisp air blowing passed him, the temperature being just right. A beautiful day indeed, which meant a perfect time to make an appearance, "what time did you say again?"
"My guess is nine thirty since people are gathering now." A soldier answers.
"Alright, tell the others to grab their stuff, I'll be watching in the wings." Kent ordered.
"Yes boss." The soldier complied.
"And Will?" Kent asks.
"Yes sir?" Will responds.
"Do not disappoint, or there will be consequences." Kent warns maliciously.
With a a silent, worried gulp, Will replies, "Understood boss." Kent smiles.
