Edith's POV

I said I'm fine to anyone and everyone who asked. Including my match...who I shouldn't lie to, but it's necessary. I don't want people to worry about me. That was my ex, we dating during a time in my life that I'm not proud of. I had addictions; drugs, alcohol, blood. Combine them all and you're in for one hell of a ride. The hangover was usually pretty bad but I would just use again to distract myself. Jones was in it with me, we were pretty serious and dated for almost a year.

Roo finally stepped in to try and stop me and Jones. We refused for two weeks until I finally realized who I was becoming and I didn't like it. When I told Jones that I didn't want to live that way anymore and that I would have to leave him, he snapped. It started with obsessively knowing my every move, then came the beating when I did something he didn't like. He cut me off from my life aside from him.

Finally I snuck out after slipping crushed sleeping pills into his beer and ran. He found me an hour later, his advanced immune system fought off the pills within three hours. By then I had already contacted my friends about what was happening, they came to my rescue. Nico punched the guy, Kaitlyn called the cops, and Roo comforted me and brought me home. I have been clean for a year and two months. Hopefully Jones is being taken care of.

It's been an hour, Roo hasn't come back and the ritual hasn't started. What's funny is this is our first actual ritual. Usually you take a drink of blood and you're in. Well maybe it's the same thing this time round. But it wouldn't take this long if it was. Sitting back down at our table I catch Adam staring.

He breaks the silence first, "Are you sure you're okay? You looked pretty shaken up back there."

"Well, I did get grabbed and drugged so I mean, yeah I was a little shaken up but I'm around a crowd so I'm not afraid."

He nodded and looked me over, seeming a bit unsure, but the expression was soon taken away by Zeyu walking on stage. He had a look of disappointment plastered on his face. He held a clear wine glass had full of blood. He looked over the crowd as if searching for someone. Seeming even more disappointed, he took a sip before speaking.

"Today we welcome a witch into our clan. At the beginning of the evening you all were unsure of him, but after socializing with him you see that he is much like us, and has no intention to harm us. Adam, would you please join me on stage.?"

Me and Adam shared a glance, and detecting a hint of sadness I smiled and nodded in encouragement. He stood and walked on stage. He shook hands with Zeyu Blake and stood in silence waiting for further instruction.

"Now behind me is a table with eight wine glasses. Each one has a label naming the blood type the glass contains. According to your blood type, choose a glass and drink it all." Without hesitancy Adam walked over to the table and chooses the glass filled with type O+ and chugs it to the last drop. Taking a step back the Zeyu smiles.

"Good. Now choose a sacrifice from the crowd." The crowd goes up in panicked and shocked murmurs. I'm wide eyed and so is Adam, who looks terrified out of his wits. He looks down at me in S.O.S. but all I can do is watch. I figured something new would happen but sacrifice a member of the clan from the crowd? This was definitely unexpected.

Also about the contest...No one submitted anything...which is fine I didn't really expect anyone to yet since we're still a small crowd. I'll just try again later on.
