Chapter 9: Triforce•
Zelda stood near Zora's Domain while playing her harp. Being near the Zora's domain always brought her peace. The sound of the waterfall was nice and loud, enough to help her escape the world for a little bit while the sound of her harp helped a little.
A lot has happened the pass few weeks. Ever since using her powers to help Link kill the monster that turn out to be the legendary monster Ganon left for him, she's been feeling weak the entire time until yesterday, she finally regained her strength and able to go out on her own to hear the waterfall again. Link has been a sweet heart and helped her regain her energy by cooking for her and everything else. The one thing had made his nose bleed was having to bathe her. She found it funny how he couldn't stop blushing, but he's still cute
Lately, she's been finding him talking in his sleep. Saying something about "find the last light"
"Find her wisdom"
"Help her future"
"Teach the boy"
"Guide him"
"Help him"
"Hero's spirit"
He's been talking to himself a lot in his sleep, it turns out that Link has been looking for her light. He wants her to go back to the kingdom and wants her to have a good future... He's working hard to help her. She believes it's possible to be a good ruler, she can handle people better than she thought she could, she wants to help them go through the right path, but... She's afraid there'll be a day when she'll snap and ruin it all. Though Link believes she can do it
"Oh Link..." She sighed and remembered the time she found him. Frozen in time... It wasn't that long since they met, but it's been a adventure with him by her side. She enjoys having him with her... Regretting all the pain she put him through by slapping him all the damn time. He's going to have to leave soon... He's not meant to be here... "I think I'll miss you really... I hope I can meet you in this life in another form... Like a descendant" she smiled "that would be nice... If he turns out to be living in Ordon Village... That'll be fantastic. The place is very lovely" Link told her about meeting up with the future Epona. Maybe his descendant can have Epona as his horse like Link has his own Epona. A coincidence, huh..?
She could hear the song she heard before in the wind and started playing her harp to play it. This song... A new voice in her head said it's going to bring Link back to his original past... She feels like she knew this voice but she wasn't sure. The voice said she should play it with Link's broken Ocarina... How is she going to play it if she never held a Ocarina before... Maybe Link can help her with his brown Ocarina
"Hey boss" Zelda stopped playing and looked down at her Zora employee, Sony, walking up to her. He works in her boat shop by helping the rider lead them to the bottom of the waterfall to Lake Hylia and return the boat back up "where you been? The shop hasn't been opened in a long time. Have you been feeling okay?" He looked nervous when asking her, it was understandable since she usually snaps at him. What she found strange was that he knew her as Shiek, but she wasn't in disguise anymore and only wearing a cloak, but perhaps the harp gave it away
"I'm sorry" she turned back to the view "I haven't been feeling well lately... I'm okay. I'll have it open one last day before I sell the place"
"Wait... Are you sure you're still not sick? You just apologized to me" she smiled. Yeah, strange huh..?
"I'm fine..." She removed her hood and smiled at him. He looked at her surprised "after my friend goes home, I'll be going home as well... I'm not going to need that the shop anymore... I'll gladly give it to you" he sat next to her
"Sheik... What happened to you?!" She giggled "you use to be so..."
"Mean? Selfish? Angry? Controlling?" He gulped "yes... I know. I've changed..." She sighed "listen... I'm... Sorry for all the crap I put you through... I want to set a good example" she hugged her harp "hear me..? Im acting like I'm so confident when I'm very terrified about the future... I have the right to take back my crown"
"C-crown..?" Zelda smiled at Sony's shocked face
"That's right... You've been working for a runaway princess of Hyrule... My name is Zelda... And after maybe today... I'm going back to my castle" she started playing the song that'll send Link home "I might not even need to sell the shop... I'll give it to you after today" she smiled "you've been a good employee Sony, thank you for sticking with me... Even if it wasn't for being my friend" he frowned and looked down
"Well now I feel bad..." She looked at him confused "if I knew you were this nice... We could of been friends" she smiled before holding his hand
"I wouldn't mind if we can be friends now... The more friends I have.. The better" he smiled and nodded. She nodded and stood up "I'm going to go home before coming to the shop... I'll see you there, okay?" He nodded
"Got it, boss" he saluted before swimming the waterfall. Zelda took a deep breath before looking at the sun
"The final day..." She held her heart "I'm scared..."
"Don't be, I'm right here" the first voice in her head said
"That's the thing... Who are you?" It was silent for a moment
"I'm... Someone you'll meet soon..." Zelda looked confused before nodding and played her harp to go back home, seeing Link preparing his pouches for his trip back home. Zelda frowned and put her hands together
"Ready..?" Link looked up and smiled before standing up
"I think so" he picked up something from the couch and showed her a few things "here, I decided to keep these things here for you" she walked up to him and saw his red and blue tunic, his Hylian shield, his Goron Bracelet, and Fairy Ocarina
"Link..." She took the Shield holding everything, in surprise "you're giving me your shield and your ocarina Saria gave you? Don't these things mean something to you?" Link closed his eyes
"I think I don't need the shield... Since I'll return to a more peaceful era. And the ocarina... It's special to me, that's why I trust it with you..." She put everything down and held the ocarina the same way she seen him hold it "the bracelet is just a gift, and the clothes... It's not going to fit me as a kid so I won't need it. Maybe you could... Give it to someone else" he played with his words. Zelda stared at him "someone that might be my..."
"Descendant?" He looked surprised
"Yeah!" She smiled
"I wonder if I can be friends with him... He's obviously never going to know who I am"
"You can become friends..." She nodded and started with the holes of the ocarina, trying to make a song out of it. Link helped her play the song of storms as a lesson "you learn fast" Zelda smiled and sighed
"Your ocarina of time?" He took it out and unwrapped it from its clothe, still broken and missing pieces. How is she going to use that to take him home..?
"Still broken"
"Don't worry... You can still play it once you have your Triforce back" the second voice in her head said. Zelda looked down and sat on the floor. Link followed
"Link... You said your life will never be recognized... I was thinking... Can you tell me about your journey..?" He looked at her surprised "if you're helping my future, maybe I can help yours... By letting others know what you did" he smiled and looked down
"You have a kind heart... Thank you" he started talking about his life from the beginning. Zelda took it all in in fascination until it was getting late
"I can't imagine what you went through, even if you just told me" she giggled and rested her head on his shoulder "thank you... For coming here"
"It wasn't a choice... But I'm glad that wind played the ocarina... I wouldn't have been able to meet you"
"You'll be back with your princess, I'm sure" he sighed and looked at his broken ocarina
"I'm just don't sure how..." Zelda picked up the things Link gave her and put them in a satchel just in case. Him going back to the future... Things might happen so hopefully nothing happens to her gifts
"I'll take care of it" she picked up her harp and smiled at him "my employee is waiting for me... Let's hurry and go to Lake Hylia like you want" he nodded "let me guess... You're planning on going to the spring to get back my Triforce" he looked surprised
"How you know?" She huffed playfully and looked away
"I have my ways" she teased before playing her harp and warped to her shop. Sony was sitting near the edge of the river, staring at the boat "Sony" Sony flinched and looked up at the princess and her hero "time to take one last boat ride with your boss... After this, you may have the shop" she handed him the key "it's all yours" Sony took the keys and stared down at them
"Are you really sure about this... princess?"
"He knows?" Link asked confused. Zelda nodded and looked down at her pocket. Her gift for Link is in here... It's only a matter a time before he leaves, hopefully he'll take them
"Who are you?" Sony made a face. Zelda closed her eyes and walked pass them, towards the boat
"No fighting Sony, you always try to pick a fight with guys. That's not going to go by when you own the shop. You are looking at the hero of time. If it wasn't for him" she looked at the boys staring at her "we wouldn't have the beautiful land we have today... I'm going to keep it this way" she pointed at Sony "so no fighting" he nodded and jumped into the water "you coming or what, hero?" She smiled at Link. Link smiled and took the hand she offered to get into the boat "everything is set for the trip down. Here" she picked up some arrows and bombs from inside the boat and handed it to him "what you do is turn on the bombs and attach them to the arrows. There'll be a few targets you have to hit" she explained all the rules before she had Sony push the boat towards the river
Link used his bow to shoot multiple targets without missing one. He's a really good shooter. He's so confident in his shooting and actually looks good doing it! He's been focused the whole time and Zelda almost keeps forgetting to write down the points he earned
After a trip down, they made it to the waterfall and fell down. Zelda stayed in the boat while Link fell off into the water. Sony laughed a little while pushing the boat Zelda was in to the edge of the entrance to the Light spirit spring of lake Hylia, Lanayru
"That was really fun!" Link laughed while crawling back to land "can we go again!?" Zelda giggled and looked at the entrance to the spring
"No, sorry, brave one" Link laughed and stood up
"Too bad! At least I get to do something fun on my last day!" She sad smiled at him and looked at the lake "hey..." He held her shoulder "it'll be fine... It's not like you won't ever see me again"
"Of course I won't"
"Actually... I think you will... But it depends on you if you want to be his friend" she frowned at him. He's talking about his descendant. Will his descendant be as nice and wise as Link..? For one thing, they might not even meet
"Right" she sighed
"What are you two talking about?" Sony asked
"Nothing" Zelda turned away
"Anyways, Link? You got a perfect score!" Link pumped his fist in victory "that never happened before! Boss?"
"I'm not your boss, the shop is all yours. And Link, you don't get nothing because the only thing I can offer you is your manhood" Link and Sony flinched before exploding in nosebleeds and passed out. She laughed at her teasing and held her hips "oh boy, I'm going to miss that"
"After you get your grace back, you won't exactly be fond of those kind of jokes" the voice in her head said. Zelda smiled and held her heart
"Will I find out who you are anytime soon..?"
"Yes..." The voice sounded sad in a way. Link and Sony woke up
"Sheik!" Sony blushed like crazy "I mean Princess! I never thought I hear you say such words!" Zelda giggled and looked at Link washing away his bloody nose
"Too bad!" She held her hips "it's too late for that now, let's get you home Link" Link frowned at her holding in her tears "let's take you back to your time so you can be happy" she walked into the spring entrance
"Zelda..." He ran after her and faced the water under them. Zelda sat on the edge of the spring and sighed "this isn't how I want to leave... Please believe everything will be okay"
"What if it's not? What if I go home and just do something a princess shouldn't do and have people hate me..?" She stood up and face him "what if I can't find friends like you Link..? What if your descendant won't be like you..?" He smiled and held her cheek, whipping away her tears with his thumb
"You'll get your wisdom back, princess... If there's a time that you'll ever snap, it's going to be for a good reason. Believe in yourself, your people will love you because you'll keep things peaceful..." He sat on his knee and bowed his head "once I get home, I'm going to work on the future... A future where I can help my descendant on his journey. There's going to be a darkness coming towards Hyrule, and it's not my fight... It's his. That's why I'm going to help him while you help me keep Hyrule peaceful..." Zelda smiled and closed her eyes as light shined to their side brightly. Zelda kept her eyes closed as her heart immediately felt completely warm, without darkness or hatred within it
"Link..." She opened her eyes and found them both surrounded by the sky. She wasn't at all shocked about this for some reason, but Link looked around surprised "I want you to have this..." She gave him a jewelry box "I'm not very good with gifts, so I hope you can find these useful in some way" she smiled. Link looked in the box and chuckled
"I guess I can wear these for the style, ay?" He laughed "thank you, I'll treasure this" a haze of darkness floated around the two. They looked at it surprised before it turned into a ball of darkness in front of them and burst to sink into their Triforce on their hand. Zelda looked at the Triforce on her right hand... Her mom's Triforce... Is now hers...
"What was that..?" Link frowned. Zelda ignored it and offered her hand
"Link... Your Ocarina.." He looked at her surprised before taking out the cloth holding it together and gave it to Zelda. She unwrapped it, feeling confidence in her heart, and held it to her heart before it shines brightly. She unwrapped it and repaired the cracks and mouth piece
"The ocarina of time.." Link gasped. There are words in her heart that she needed to say, though felt familiar to her in some way
"You must lay the Master Sword to rest and close the door of time..." Link looked at her in devastation "however, by doing this, the road between times will be closed..." She stayed silent for a moment "I can return you to your original time with it" tears ran down her eyes "peace has returned to Hyrule" she has no idea what she was saying, but it felt right "it is time for us to say good-bye..." She smiled at him before holding the ocarina of time to her lips "now go home, Link, regain your lost time! Home... Where you are suppose to be... The way you are suppose to be.." She cried for a moment "I'll never let you be unforgotten... Your legend will live on... Thank you for your help and your story... I'll make sure it's known to all what a great man you turn out to be... I'm sorry for causing you trouble" she was finally able to say her own words before playing the song she has heard the goddess wind play for her...
Link began shining around a barrier of light before he started fating away. He smiled towards her and felt her gift close "I will treasure this always... I'll never forget you... My princess" he fated away along with the ocarina of time in her hands
"Thank you... Link..." She held her heart "goodbye..."
Zelda watched Link disappear in a blink of an eye... Her friend is gone... To another time. It'll be okay. She smiled at herself before looking up at a vision of a young child who looks a lot like Link, walking towards a platform where a young girl was standing on. That girl...
The boy looked down at his hands and saw his ocarina of time and the box Zelda gave him. He smiled at the box before putting everything away and look up at the girl. Link..
"Princess..?" The girl looked down at Link surprised. He smiled happily while there was a fairy flying next to him
"My! How did you get pass the guards?" The girl tilted her head to the side "wait... Show me your eyes" he looked up at her. She smiled and put her hands together "I knew it! Would your name happen to be Link?" His smile widened
"Y-yes!" She giggled
"I knew it! You're exactly who I saw in my dreams! It's a strange dream, but it was a dream about you saving Hyrule and such! Isn't that silly?" He giggled and handed her the ocarina of time. She gasped and gently took it in her hands
"Thank you for all your help princess... I came to return this. It was a lot of help" she looked down at the ocarina and smiled
"So... It was real?" He looked down and smiled "I see... I'm Princess Zelda, it's nice to meet you... But I figured we already met, yes?" He chuckled and nodded
"Yes princess..." The two smiled at each other before the vision disappeared. Zelda closed her eyes and let out all the tears she was holding in
"Good bye Link... May we meet in another time" she warped back to where she was at the spring and stared at the wall. She smiled one last time before turning around. Her right hand stung, making her wince and take a step back before the dark haze she saw go into she Triforce was floating around towards the ground until it forced some kind of creature
"What are.." Her eyes widened. The young creature weakly used its arms to get up and turn itself around to look up at Zelda with its red and yellow eyes. It was about to speak, but dropped backwards. Zelda gasped and hurried to catch it "hey! Are you okay?!" The creature looked up at the princess and held her cheek
"Princess of light..." Zelda gasped. That voice...
