Chapter 7: Ordon•

Zelda climbed out the tree early in the morning after Link did. He was carving wood to make a sword, since he didn't have one at the moment. It'll probably be a good thing to buy one in a market somewhere when the two get out of Ordon once Link is done looking around

She can't help but feel a bit of joy in her heart... Links words just continued to sink into her heart... Making it tingly. The very thought of him leaving her made her sad, but he didn't belong here. He wants her to go back to the castle... Believing she will be a great princess, his words back in the spring made her think it was actually possible, maybe she can do it... Lead people in the right path... What can be so bad about it?

"Remember princess" a voice came through her head "the only way to make time good to you is start new. The light you have in your heart now is bright, but you need more light in order to fully believe in yourself and be the Princess of Hyrule... You must hurry" Zelda stared into space, trying to figure out how she can find more of her light. Does she even want it? She lived free with no one to bother her, does she really want to give that up? The light she feels actually feels good... If there's more, she wouldn't mind trying to make it part of her

"Where are they..?" She asked in a whisper

"You don't worry about that, just keep doing what you're doing" Zelda nodded and looked down to listen to that one song she heard back in the spring. She held her heart and listen to it carefully. It was coming from the wind itself

"listen to this song carefully... This song is going to bring Link back to his time" her eyes widened "when it's time, you play this song with his Ocarina of time" a new and softer voice said

"Ocarina of time..? But isn't that broken? How would I know when to play it?"

"You'll know" Zelda frowned and looked at Link lining up his wooden sword. Her only friend... Is going to leave her. What will happen after he leaves?

"Done!" Link cheered and rushed over to her "what do you think?" She took the sword and looked around it before slamming it on the tree. It didn't break

"Not bad, but it's not going to last" he nodded and took back the sword

"Yeah, but it's better than nothing at all" Zelda nodded before noticing a few kids walking over. She made a face and hid behind Link. People... Even if what Link said changed her opinion on people, she still didn't do well with them

"Hey! Is that a sword!?" A young brunette boy asked. They were Ordonian, it was clear in the clothing

"Huh? Oh! Yeah!" Link smiled brightly. Zelda stared at the smile in admiration. Wow... It's clear that he's good with people "want me to show you some cool tricks?"

"Yeah!" Everyone cheered, the blonde kid just smiled and tried his best to keep away from the two boys and one girl. Zelda stared at him before Link walked away, leaving her behind. She blushed at the floor before turning away

"Are you two visiting the village?" The girl asked while the other boys were with Link, building something from the ground

"Uh... Yes" Zelda responded nervously

"I see, welcome to Ordon Village then" Zelda just stared at her and her freckles "the place is famous for its pumpkin, cheese, fish, Cuccos, and goats! My mom owns a shop you can buy things in. There's not that much to offer, we get our money from stock, we make our food"

"I see... Are you comfortable living here?" Zelda suddenly asked

"Oh yes! It's a nice place to live! We have nowhere else to go because the forest is too dangerous! But that's fine! We have plenty to do here! It's peaceful but it really is sometimes boring... Nothing really happens around here" she sighed. Zelda frowned, actually feeling bad for the girl, and looked over at Link backing away from a fighting dummy

"What the hell is that?" Zelda sweat dropped. Link laughed and lifted his sword

"It's just a practice dummy! I'm going to show off some cool moves I learned on my journey. I need some space" the kids surrounded Zelda, making her nervous but remain in her place

"Yeah! Show us how to use a sword, stranger!" The taller brunette cheered while holding a stick as a sword. Zelda smiled a little before looking at Link facing the dummy. He was fast as lightning but only did a few tricks such as a stab, a spin, and jump. The kids were beyond amazed, more amazed than Zelda was. He's holding back, she can tell. She smirked at his stamina and agility and skills, not bad... But it's going to take much more than that to impress her

"That was so cool!" The girl cheered

"You're so good!" The blonde smiled

"Not bad..." The shorter brunette muttered

"I think I got that fast! Hya!" The taller brunette played with his wooden stick. Link laughed and pet his head

"Hey kid, if you understood what I just did, you'll do great things in your life!" Zelda blushed at the sight of his smile

"Maybe you can fight the great beast that lives in Ordon!" The kid said

"You idiot! That's just a legend!" The girl sassed "there's no monster here in Ordon!"

"Why wouldn't there be? This place is too peaceful to not have monsters!"

"You never know!"

"It was a camp fire story. It's just a story!"

"You're just scared to believe it because the monster is said to rest in your house!"

"It's not in my house you little booger! It's not real!"

"Whoa whoa!" Link waved his hands "what's going on? What are you talking about a monster?"

"There's a legend in our Village about a monster living within Beth's tree home..." The blonde boy said. Beth must be the girl "it's not like we seen it before, but word around the village said that this monster will only show up when a source of a evil king's enemy will show up" Link flinched

"Evil king's enemy..." He looked at Zelda frowning at him. The evil king must be Ganondorf... And his enemy must be Link. If Link gets any closer to the village, this monster must be what Ganondorf created just in case Link comes back to the village

"Do you think it's one of Ganon's monsters? How long has it been since you've been to the Kokiri village? As your adult self that is" Link thought for a while

"A long while... Actually. I've been to the forest but not the village. So Ganondorf must've tried planning something for me just in case I come back" he crossed his arms "since I'm here, I actually fear for this place. I think we better leave"

"What?! No! You haven't even seen the village yet! You should come and meet Colin's dad! He's the village swordsman! I bet he'll be pleased to meet someone as cool as you!" The tall brunette said. The blonde kid, probably Colin, blushed and looked down shyly. He doesn't look like he's use to these kids or around people. He's been shy the entire time. Zelda could actually relate to him. Maybe there are people out there she can help. Not that she'll have the ability to help him, but the thought of it felt good to think about

"I would love to see your village, I really do, but-" Zelda held his shoulder, making his eyes widened

"You're a hero, Link. If this monster does suddenly appear, you can take it on... Right?" She looked at the kids "does this shop of your mother's sell any arrows or perhaps a sword?" Beth thought for a while

"Well, no. She doesn't sell anything like that, but Colin's dad might have something for.. Wait a minute! Don't tell me you believe in the legend! It's not real! Nothing's wrong with my house!" Zelda found herself smiling at Beth's pouting face

"No, we just need equipment when we leave after visiting" Link straight up lied. Zelda almost believed in him! This guy!

"Oh! That makes sense!" Colin smiled

"We'll take you to Rusl!" The tall brunette said

"I thought you were going to fight the legendary monster..." The short brunette muttered. Beth rolled her eyes

"Follow us!" Beth cheered and ran towards the path with the open gate that was closed the other night. Zelda stared at Link following the kids happily before he noticed she was staring

"What's wrong?" He asked

"I really don't want to go into the village"

"Why not? Because there's people there?" She nodded and looked away. He held her hand "don't worry, the kids seem nice, so I'm sure the others are too! You have to get use to people. Don't worry, I'm right here!" She sighed and nodded before following him into the village. Link stared around the village in shock

"Wow..." He noticed some adults "looks like the Kokiri kids are no longer here... That really sucks" he sighed and looked down. He's doesn't look like he likes seeing what his world has become. He's only here because of her... In order to make him happy, his mission to be here better end soon. She doesn't like watching his frown all the time...

"Link..." She faced him "if there's anything I can do for you, please tell me. I really don't like you making that face all the time every time you see something compared to your old time" he looked at her surprised "stop making that face at once! It's really bugging me! All these surprise faces, all these concern and sad faces! You're driving me insane! Knock it off already!" She huffed and looked away while holding her heart

"Ze-"

"That's not my name!" She glared

"Sheik" they both sighed "I'm sorry I'm making these faces... I'm just surprised is all to see this world as it is right now"

"Don't you think I know that!? Why don't you just hurry up with your mission so you can go home!?" He smiled and pet her head, making her blush and pout

"I can't do that. If you become a little nicer, it'll make the mission fly by faster" her eyes widened

"Is that what you think?"

"That's what I know. Show me you can be a little nicer. Don't fake it either, I want you to try" she rolled her eyes and crossed her arms

"Fine, if it'll make you leave sooner" she looked away and frowned. Leaving... She doesn't... Want him to leave, but she has to... Make her people happy...before herself... He isn't meant to be here "let's go..." Link nodded and walked towards the kids talking to a man standing near the stream. The two approached the group. The man looked up at the two and smiled

"Hello you two, welcome to Ordon Village! The kids told me much about you young man!" Link rubbed the back of his head with a bright smile

"It was nothing! I'm Link by the way!" He looked at Zelda. She sighed and curtsied

"I'm Sheik, it's a pleasure..." She remembered her princess lessons as a child, so might as well use them. Link keeps on smiling at her, which she found a little annoying, but hid her smile anyways

"Quit hiding your smiles" the voice in her head said. Zelda sighed, trying to not roll her eyes and remove her hood to show her brown hair and blue eyes. It's not like these people will recognize her as a princess anyways

"I'm Rusl, the village's swordsman! And these kids are the kids of other villagers. This one is my son, Colin. This is Talo, Malo, and Beth" Link waved to the kids smiling up at him "What brings you two here?"

"I wanted to take a visit. I promise a old friend I would come back and do so" he held his heart

"Oh! I might help you out with that. I know everyone here. It's a fairly small village after all" Link waved his hand

"That's not what I meant, but thank you. My friend and I aren't going to be here long, we just want to look around if that's okay, and pick up some supplies for the trip back to Hyrule Field"

"No problem! We can help you out as much as we can. What is it that you need?"

"Well, some arrows should be good, and I made this wooden sword, but I don't think it's going to last really" Rusl took the sword and nodded

"Nicely crafted, but I think you missed some spots"

"Yeah, I was kind of in a hurry to make one this morning" Talo pulled on Link's hand

"Hey! Show us more sword tricks! Rusl! Link is really good! You should see him!" Link chuckled

"I can't"

"Can't what?" A pregnant woman and a large man with a mustache that looks like horns came over "hello there lads! I'm Bo, the Village's mayor!" Rusl brought the woman into his arms

"And this is my lovely wife, Uli" he introduced. The woman smiled kindly

"Hi! I'm Link!" Zelda just blushed at more people coming over

"Oh you two! So thin!" A woman bringing Beth to her arms said "we are about to have a little party for Colin's birthday! Why don't you join us?" Link looked at Zelda for her approval, she just looked away

"It wouldn't hurt to stay, please?" He held her hand. She sighed and nodded

"Very well.." He smiled brightly before nodding at everyone smiling at them. There's so many nice people here... Zelda can't help but return their smiles...

A entire day passed by and the two spend it with the villagers. They said there's only one person missing, they were taking care of a horse, so the two might not be able to meet her. Zelda ate her food slowly while watching Link laughing along with the kids. Can she get along with people like he can?

"What's wrong dear? Are you not having fun?" Uli asked, sitting next to her

"Oh..." Zelda became nervous, not exactly wanting to snap at this woman. She's so nice and Zelda promised to be nice, or try "I'm fine... I'm just not use being around so many people... I'm not good with them" Uli giggled

"Oh sweetie, there's no reason to be shy. These people won't hurt a fly. Why don't you just enjoy yourself"

"How would I do that..?" Uli thought for a moment

"How about we do something you like to do, what do you like doing?" Zelda slowly took out her harp "oh! How beautiful. You play?" Zelda smiled and nodded

"Yes..."

"Why don't you play something? I'm sure it'll be beautiful" Zelda blushed at her kindness before running her fingers on the strings, making the area quiet. She closed her eyes and pulled on a string before playing and singing

"Oh youth, guide by the the servant of the goddess, unite earth and sky, and bring light to the land... Oh youth, show the two whirling sails the way to the light tower... And before you a path shall open, and a heavenly song you shall hear..." She slowly opened her eyes after feeling relaxed. She just sang the song her mom played for her when she was a child. She soon heard soft clapping around her. She looked up surprised and saw everyone around her clapping for her in amazement. Zelda blushed at their expressions and smiled shyly

"That was so pretty!" Beth cheered

"Wonderful!" Sera, Beth's mom, cheered

"That was very well played" Bo nodded

"You made Talo fall asleep..." Malo muttered, looking at Talo sleeping on the floor soundly

"You are very talented.." Uli smiled. Zelda's smile widened at the compliments

"Hello" She looked up and saw a girl with short hair smiling down at her "I was wondering what was that beautiful music playing, a wonderful voice followed with it" she sat next to Zelda "I'm Ilia..." Zelda found herself still smiling

"I'm Ze-" Zelda flinched and cleared her throat "Sheik... My name is Sheik" Ilia giggled and noticed Link smiling at Zelda the whole time. Zelda blushed while Ilia giggled "hello, I'm Ilia, I'm the mayors daughter! Nice to meet you two! I wasn't aware that we were having visitors, welcome!" Link smiled with his mouth full. Zelda snorted at his face and looked up at the moon. It's feels nice to be here... Nice people... Being nice was pretty... Nice

"Zelda..." The voice called her in a serious tone. Zelda's eyes widened "do you feel that?" She nodded and slowly stood up at the same time Link was. His eyes were also wide. Danger is coming... She can feel it

"Rusl... Please tell me you have a sharp sword in hand" Link asked. Zelda kept her harp close in caution.

"Oh... Yeah, why? What's wrong?" Link took the sword Rusl handed him and pointed it, looking around

"Zelda, protect these people" Zelda looked at him wide eyed before nodding. The earth started shaking. The villagers panicked and stayed close together "don't worry everyone, I got this" Zelda frowned

"Link... What are you-?" Suddenly, a large monster with one eye burst out the largest tree in the village, screaming. Zelda gasped and stood in front of everyone, finding herself wanting to protect them

"It's too dangerous to run up to it!" Link shouted "dammit! I don't have arrows! Screw it! Come at me you monster!" He shouted before storming over to the monster without a proper plan

"Link!" Zelda panicked. The monster swung at Link while laughing. He dodged the attack in lighting speed and jumped on the monsters body. How was he so fast?! He shouted and attacked the monster like it was nothing! The monster kept on moving around like crazy! He kept falling but kept getting back on and fighting it. It didn't seem to want to go down. That eye must be it! "Hit the eye! It must be the weak spot!"

"Agh! It keeps moving! I need arrows!" Zelda frowned and looked at the villagers behind her, terrified. She has to do something, she doesn't want anything to happen to these people

"Use your power..." The voice said "the lights you gathered, use your power to hold the monster in place while Link strikes it's weak spot" Zelda looked at her hands before putting them into fist. She can feel power in her hands... The want of wanting to protect these people, it feels powerful within her

She lifted her hands and released a ray of light towards the monster, making it hold still and cried "I'm using my power to hold the evil king!" She blinked confused. What did she just say? It felt like deja vu for a moment, like she said that before "I mean monster! You use your sword and deliver the final blow!" Her inner energy was growing weak. She let go of the light at the same time she heard a loud cry and caught herself falling forward weakly.

"Sheik!" Ilia's voice cried while catching her. Zelda looked up at her worried face

"Are you okay..?" She smiled "is everyone okay..?" Ilia smiled and nodded

"Yes... Thank you miss" Zelda smiled before closing her eyes

"Ilia... If there's ever a day when time changes... Please protect Link for me..." There was a short silence

"I will..." Zelda smiled before passing out in exhaustion
