Chapter 6: Faron Woods•

Kakariko Village looks very different than how Link has saw it... The village was peaceful and happy from what he could see outside a cafe. The story of what Zelda said about the old Kakariko Village is just sad... There's a descendant of Impa trapped there under the castle's order to stay until a messenger comes with a rod of some sort? Hopefully the rumor is fake because he wouldn't want someone he knew the ancestor of to be locked away because of some order... If he goes back to his time, will it matter if he told Impa about this future? Maybe the time era of when the tribe left the castle wasn't his, maybe it was further in the future. He had no stop to this

"What did your Kakariko look like?" Zelda asked while sipping on some tea. Link could almost see light in her eyes, but it wasn't bright enough. He's so glad he got to talk to her and got her to speak about herself... He gets what she went through... He had a whole village dislike him, Zelda basically just doesn't want to be judged and alone... He gets it...

"Well, it was more brighter and the houses looked different than this... There was a windmill and a well actually. I don't see that around here"

"Maybe it was patched up. There's a graveyard near here for the Zoras, you know?"

"Yeah, I'm familiar with a graveyard. There's a underground tunnel under it. I have a hard time comparing this era to mine really..." She nodded and stared outside the window in deep thought "what's wrong?" She sighed and closed her eyes

"Nothing... Just been thinking about what you said earlier" he smiled and held her hand that was on the table

"I meant every word" she smiled slightly without looking at him "I would like if you would open up to me a little more and show me more of your Hyrule" she peaked at him and smiled more

"Sure, I guess I can keep shop closed for a little while longer so I can take this walk. I think I really need it" shop huh? She said she was going to put him to work earlier.

"You have a shop?" She nodded "what kind?"

"It's a boat rental shop. You get on a boat and travel down a long river while using some bomb arrows to shoot some targets. You get prizes if you get enough points, but those prizes are what I stole. Some people just prefer to ride" she giggled

"What a rebel" he laughed "but bomb arrows huh? Sounds interesting. Think I can take a shot?"

"Go ahead"

"What will be my prize if I get a perfect score?" She raised her brows in a smirk and leaned on the table

"Well no one ever had a perfect score before, but if you win, I'll give you your manhood" she winked. He blinked confused before his nose exploded in blood before he passed out. He could hear Zelda giggle and pick him up on her shoulder. Man this girl is strong! He came back to reality once she placed him down on the ground and squat to his height to stare at his blushing face "I'm kidding, I think it would be better if you relived your childhood, like my ancestor intended... No matter what, even if you won't be recognized as a hero, I hope to remember you coming here to brighten my life a little... I'll make sure your legend lives on... As the Hero of Time" he smiled and held her cheek, making her blush a little

"Your smile is beautiful, you should wear it more" she slapped his hand away and stood up to walk away. He chuckled and hurried to follow

"She still has darkness in her heart Link.." The voice he heard back at the mansion when he was bringing his items and Zelda's harp to her room, said "your words are bringing the light back to her, she's realizing that she doesn't have to be alone, but it's going to take much more than this to get her light back... You must take her to the next 3 light springs in Lake Hylia, Faron woods, and in Ordon. You already took her to the 4th spring here in Kakariko Village" Link looked confused

"Ordon?" Zelda looked at him confused "sorry, where is Ordon?"

"Oh, that's near Faron Woods" Faron woods... What was known as the Kokiri Forest... Maybe he can get some answers. The answers might not even matter anyways. What happened in the future isn't what he's suppose to know... He has to worry about keeping the past in peace, Zelda can worry about this era... He's just here to bring the light back in her heart... That's what the voice wanted to him to do. It send him here to tell her his experience and help her... He's not going to worry about what he wants to see, but since they're taking a walk, might as well see what's in Faron woods and Ordon. The spring is where he should take her is his first priority

"Can we go there?" She nodded "Oh! And where's Lake Hylia around here?"

"It's under the bridge of Castle Town, south" he nodded

"Can we go there too?"

"We can take the boat from my shop. It's in Zora's domain, so the boat down will take us to the lake either way" he nodded happily and hugged her head

"Thanks!" She rolled her eyes and walked away "you'll warm up to me, you'll see!"

"Oh yeah, definitely" she smirked his way. He flinched and blushed like crazy "Faron woods is pretty far, I'll have to use my harp to warp us there"

"Fine by me" she sighed and played her harp to teleport them near the entrance of the woods

"There's going to be a weird guy trying to sell you some lantern oil, don't talk to him. We don't need it" Link nodded at her warning and passed by a house with a man heating up some food in a bonfire

"Hey man! Would you like to buy some lantern oil? If you don't have a lantern than I would gladly give you one! Just make sure you buy-"

"Not interested!" Zelda shouted without looking at the man

"Sheik? Is that you?! My man! How are yah!?"

"Shut it!" The man laughed

"Alright! See you soon!" Zelda shook her head and left the open area and into some woods. Link stared at Zelda continuing to walk without a problem. She's pretty tough, isn't she? No matter what, he still thinks she'll be a wonderful princess

"Alright, we're here in Faron Woods, lead the way" she said, holding her hip. Link nodded before leading the way to explore the woods. There were two paths going in different directions. Which way should he go..?

"Right..." A new voice told him. He looked at the right path confused before walking it. These voices seem to know something more than what they've been telling him "you will be walking a path to my spring brave youth... When coming to my spring, you must speak to the princess again" he nodded "the sake of the future is in your hands"

"Sake of this future..?" He whispered "if I'm here, wouldn't I have a descendant to be here in my place..?" The thought of a descendant... Will he be a hero too..?

"You will have a descendant... But he's not in this time era because you're here. Come hero of time. My spring is near" Link could see a beautiful water spring near by. Link looked at Zelda off in space and offered his hand. She stared at it confused before taking it. He smiled and walked her over to the water

"It's a spring" she said

"Yeah, like in Kakariko Village, right?" She nodded before coming over to scoop up some water and drink out of it. Link looked up at the spring, going into deep thought. He's going to go back to his time era... If that happens, will Zelda remember him? Will his descendant be here and take her aid like he has? Link knew he can't be here forever, he hopes to have his descendant take over where he left off but help him further more... But how can he make that happen?

"Is this familiar to you?" Zelda snapped him back to earth

"Oh!" He looked at his surroundings "I can see a little resemblance, but it's all pretty different" Link frowned "Kokiri Village isn't that far from the castle and here is pretty far" Zelda just looked at him "about the Temple of time" she looked at the spring

"No one has ever seen it... But I've heard it's deep in the woods" Link thought for a moment

"That must be where the Master Sword is... I hope I can help my descendant find it if he needs it the most" he said to himself. Zelda tilted her head confused

"What was that?" He shook his head and smiled before sitting down near the edge. Zelda followed and sat next to him

"This land is very different" she stared at the water "the Hyrule I knew... When we were walking here, there wasn't a Lon Lon Ranch... A ranch where I met my horse"

"Epona was it?" He nodded

"Yeah... I knew her since I was a kid. The song I played in the field, that was her song... I really wish I can see her again. Everyone... Navi.." He leaned on his knees and sighed

"You had many friends, didn't you?" He smiled and nodded

"Yeah... The Zoras, the Gorons, the skull kids, I had many friends..." Zelda gave him a deep frown before looking back at the spring "you'll have friends Zelda, I know you can do it if you just try" she closed her eyes

"It's not so easy... I lack my wisdom" she stared at her right hand "my mother held the Triforce of wisdom. All the woman of my family holds it. One at a time of course" she fist her hand "I heard stories that the young girl's mother was suppose to die after her birth, that way the mother could give the daughter the Triforce. But I do not have that and my mother didn't die until I was 10..." Link showed her his left hand with the Triforce of courage "the Triforce..."

"The symbol of a hero didn't show up so quickly for me... It was hiding within me. I'm sure you're Triforce is hiding within you" she sighed and stared at nothing for a moment

"Do you hear that?" Link took a good listen but heard nothing

"No?"

"I hear.. A song" she took out her harp and started playing what she's supposably listening to. It was a song he didn't find familiar, but somehow knew it was important "that, that's what I heard" Link continued to listen, but all he could hear was the waterfalls running down the spring

"Maybe it's your inner Triforce calling for you" Zelda pushed his arm playfully and giggled. Link smiled and nudged her with his shoulder

"The day I believe that I have the Triforce is the day where I will go back to my castle and take back my crown"

"Back?" She nodded

"Yes. It's been said that the king of Hyrule would never turn out to be the actual ruler. It's always been the young daughter. There'll always be a daughter... Until the daughter is old enough to take her crown, everything goes the Kings way"

"Are you old enough?"

"Yup"

"Then you wouldn't have to be locked away if you're the true ruler. Take back your crown and regain your freedom" She hugged her legs

"It's not that easy. Once I take the crown, I cannot leave my castle. I would have to protect my people, not slack off and take over a boat rental shop or sleep in the mansion. I won't have the freedom I have now" Link looked down

"I suppose you're right... My Princess had to be in disguise as Sheik to get around and hide from being captured by Ganondorf. Freedom is lacking, but you never know... Something might surprise you" Zelda smiled

"Dear, nothing can surprise me at this point" Link stood up and stared at the spring

"What do you want to do in life really?" There was a long silence "what I want to do is protect the people of Hyrule... Keep peace in hand, and never let it fall in the face of darkness again. Even if I go unrecognized, I want to live in Hyrule the way it was meant to be. The land where the Princess protects..."

"Do you really think I can protect such a land..?" He smiled down at her sad face

"I believe in you no matter what... Even if you were a princess or not, you have potential in your eyes, but you try to remove it. It'll always be there..." Zelda flinched and shade her eyes from a bright light shining in the spring. Link covered his eyes as well

"You did well, Brave youth..." The voice said "not only did you bring truth back into her heart, but you brought hope back" Link smiled to himself "though she still lacks her wisdom and kindness... You have two other springs to visit. One in Lake Hylia and one near Ordon. She will find her kindness in Ordon, then last is her Wisdom... Good luck, hero of time, I'll always keep you in mind, no matter what time does to this world" Link nodded before the light disappeared. He smiled at the spring

"And I hope you will help my descendant along the way..." He closed his eyes for a second before looking at Zelda holding her heart gently with her eyes closed. She soon opened her eyes and stood up to look at Link smiling at her

"What are you staring at?" He chuckled and held her hand

"Let's keep going" she shrugged and followed him through the large woods through a straight path. It became night fall very quickly... Link came to a halt when he approached a bridge

"What's wrong?" Zelda asked. He looked pass the bridge at the path up ahead...

"Kokiri Village" he started shaking

"Kokiri Village..? Where you grew up as a kid?" Link nodded and started walking it while taking out his fairy Ocarina Saria's gave him on this very bridge and started playing her song. The memories of their past swirled around the young hero's head until his last encounter with her... When he awoken her as the sage

He stopped playing and opened his eyes to look at the path again "I hope you come back to the forest to visit" Link smiled before putting away the ocarina before noticing Zelda was staring at him. She had a little more light in her eyes... He's getting close to bringing her light back in her heart. This was his duty... He can't leave her like this, he'll make sure his future self will keep that light inside her. No matter what, the first thing he'll do when he gets home is see the princess again, and first tell her of the future Ganondorf planned, then ask for her aid to keep her descendant from going into the darkness... He's going to fulfill this duty, his work isn't done yet

"That song again" Zelda said. He nodded with a sad smile

"Yes... This is where Saria was when she saw me off. This is where she gave me the Ocarina..." Zelda held his shoulder for a second before walking pass him. He sighed at her same attitude and followed her pass the bridge and noticed a gate

"A gate?" He asked

"Ordon village keeps the village close during the night" Link looked at Zelda staring at the gate

"You know a lot about this place, don't you? Is Ordon what they call this place now?"

"Yes" he sighed and dug in his tunic to take out a key that can practically open any door or lock. Even small dungeon doors and such. It comes useful. He found it in Ganon's castle when going through. Link used the key to open the gate and go through without hesitation "mischief aren't we?" Zelda smirked. Link chuckled and closed the gate behind him just in case

"I need to check if my tree house is still there" he chuckled before taking her hand and storm through the path

"Link! Wait!"

"No time! I have to see what happened to my old home! I don't think I've ever been so curious in my life!" He stopped at his tracks to see his tree house by itself, not surrounded by the actual village... It was by itself in a small yard with another gate closing another path. Is that where Ordon is? The area definitely disintegrated during the years...

He looked up at his tree house. He knows this was his... He just did. The tree grew pass the door way almost completely. He approached the tree, started climbing it like a monkey and kicked the part where he knew was his front door

"Link!" Zelda loud whispered "what are you doing!? Someone is going to hear you!" He groaned and hung on one arm

"Hand me a dagger" Zelda rolled her eyes and threw it upward. Link caught it and cut away the extra tree bark until it was off the warn out door and let in a opening inside "that's better" he swung in and looked around. Most of the tree grew inside, but nothing he can't fix... If it was fully necessary. Him and Zelda just need a spot to sleep for the night, so this is the next big thing

"Come up!" Link loud whispered. He could hear Zelda climbing up and groaning when she came inside

"Got some mischief in your blood, huh? Opening a locked gate, Breaking and entering, I have a criminal as a slave" she giggled and stood up to look around

"First off, this was my home before these people and this is my house, I'm not committing a crime. Human's weren't allowed in the village in the first place. This house was still my home before I even knew I was a human" Zelda smirked and stared at the door way "I'll cover that up" he used the dagger to scarp off a piece of bark and made it to a door, just to cover up the hole

"Oh dear" Zelda crossed her arms and looked at the opening they were in. It was pretty much a dump. But there was still a bed on the end of the room and clothes on the floor with branches going through them "you were a messy child, weren't you?" Link blushed and rubbed his head before looking around and found some blankets in a hidden crack he had before

"Time hasn't been that cruel, my blankets are still here"

"Hey! Wake up!" A echo of a memory came through his head of Navi waking him up to take him to the Kokiri tree, starting him off on his journey...

He stared at his damaged bed, not worth sitting on and sat on the floor "you expect a princess to sit in this dump?" Zelda comment

"Hm? Well you did before didn't you? you can always sleep outside" he teased. She huffed and walked over to sit on his lap and rest her head on his shoulder. He opened the blanket he kept safe and covered them both to stay warm. He smiled and held her close

"I want to tell you something"

"Oh yeah? What's that?"

"When it's my time to go... I want you to go back to your castle" she looked at him surprised

"What..?"

"Be the person you were meant to be... My time and effort being a hero of time will never be recognized... At least people will recognize the great things you'll be going..." Tears ran down his eyes "I could have died... And no one would know but my princess... Because of that 7 year sleep... I was almost forgotten" he closed his eyes

"Link..."

"Do great things Zelda... Make a future and keep it" he slowly was falling asleep. He can feel something soft pressing on his lips before Zelda's head rested back on his shoulder again

"We'll see..." He smiled a little before falling asleep
