Chapter 7: Songs

Lina and Link resting together... I'm surprised it didn't take that long to draw. First I draw it on paper, take a picture, put it through my drawing app and trace to perfection... Sort of 😅 enjoy!

I spend the whole night cleaning my home till morning. I didn't want to sleep... I wanted answers. I wanted to know what's going on and who I am, now. I knew I couldn't get my answers now, so cleaning my home would be the only thing that could keep me from going crazy at the moment. I need sleep, and I need food... But I feel like I'm forgetting something important to me

Coming back to reality, I suddenly remembered that I was alone, not guiding my hero like destiny had me doing. How could I forget him!?

"Link..." My tired legs carried me to the front door "Link..." I need him right now... I don't even know how much, but I just need him now. Not only am I physically exhausted and filthy, but I am emotionally exhausted as well. I needed my hero... He would be the one I go to when I have a long day at work and I just want to see him succeed in the game. I need him now

It was raining outside, but I ran into it anyways. washing away the hot mess I was in right now, I walked around Kakariko to look for Link everywhere. I can't believe it's been an entire night and I didn't even notice where he went. He doesn't even know where I was. He must be worried. I'm worried

My legs couldn't keep up with me anymore. I fell into a puddle in front of the well, getting myself soaked more than I thought I could possible at the moment

"Link..."

"Lina!" I looked up, seeing Link and Navi rush towards me with a Hylian shield above their heads. My eyes widened when seeing him wearing a belt with big pouches and a shirt underneath. One arm held up the shield resting on his head while his free hand carried a bag. I sat up when he came closer "Lina... What are you doing?"

"I-I'm sorry... I never went to find you all night. I found a place to sleep but I never went to sleep... I got worried not too long ago and went looking for you" he put his shield behind him and gave me the bag so he can carry me. I guided him to the house I was talking about and we were now away from the rain.

Link went running around the house to find something, as I sat in front of the fire place I found behind some boxes. he came back with the blankets I had under my bed. He covered me with all of them, even if I didn't need most of them. I smiled and put half of what he gave me to put over his shoulders. His eyes were watery, but I could tell he didn't know what he was feeling. I held his cheeks. He held my hand

"You haven't slept..?" I looked down, shaking my head "neither have I" Huh?

"Yeah! We were out for an hour doing stuff like going into the graveyard to find money, got some gold tokens you liked collecting, got this cool shield, and went into the Royal family gravestone. When we went there, Link learned a song and when he played it, it was day time! Can you believe it? We never got sleep!" My eyes were wide

"You... Went on your own?" I smiled. Link... He lifted the bag he was carrying over to give me "what's this?"

"With the money I found, I bought some food in the village before it started raining. I didn't mean to make you wait" I opened the bag to see a bunch of sweet bread and some bottles of milk!

"I was a bit busy myself... I was cleaning all night" him and Navy looked around the place as I started eating hungrily.

"What is this place?" Navi asked

"This... Is the place I grew up in" I swallowed my food hard "I hardly remember, but..." I started telling them everything I discovered minus what my parents thought of me in the diary. I told them about what happened on my 5th birthday, when I went to the lost woods and lost the pin I had laying on my bed upstairs

"Lina..." Navi frowned. I put on a smile

"It's okay... I'm not sure what happened to my parents. I would like to think they're still okay. But I'm fine right now. I'm just glad you're all by my side" Link put down his food a little to focus on me, then put it down completely to stare "Link..?"

"He must need his rest. Mind if I sleep?" Navi asked. I nodded. She went over to my parents pillow before sleeping like a light. I looked back at Link still staring at me

"Link? Is something on your mind?" He looked down

"I... Really want to help you... I want to know how" I frowned. He wants his other pieces so much for my sake. In order to do that... I have to hurry up to take him to find the other two spiritual stones so I can reach the other pieces that I've seen as adults, but can't get yet. This is for him... Not for me. He wants this for me, but he has no idea what's the price going to be. I nodded and crawled over to sit next to him and lay my head on his shoulder

"Alright Link... If that's what you want... As soon as we get rest, we're going up to death mountain to get the Goron Ruby"

"Are we going to show it to Zelda?" I smiled

"Yes... Let's show her before..." Ganondorf tries taking the ocarina of time "we go to Zora's domain, okay?" He nodded, cuddling with me closely. I smiled, finally feeling my muscles relax after a long night. I really needed this "my hero... I hope we can be together for a long time..." My eyes were growing heavy. A pink light with pink eyes and physical features of Link as a adult sat in front of me with a sly smile

"I hope we can meet soon... Beautiful. I'll be waiting for you and express my affection for you" my eyes closed completely. Too exhausted to keep them open. Affection...

The next morning, I packed my new backpack I bought with my parents money with supplies we needed. Such as the money I could fit in the adult wallet Link got yesterday thanks to breaking the curse of one of the cursed family when he found a lot Skulltula in Kakariko on his own! He did a lot of progress on his own. I'm so proud. We did so much now! We have enough money to last us for a long time, so selling the tokens won't be necessary. They can be use for decorations or something

"The road is closed beyond this point! Can't you read the sign over there?" The Hylian guard at the gate keeping us from death mountain said. Link showed him Zelda's letter she gave him. He made some jokes about Zelda's words on the letter, but let us through the gates, entering Death Montain trail then towards Goron City, which took about an hour and a half to go to.

I stopped when entering the city. There were cave paintings on the walls, which I have never noticed before. One that stood out was the dragon breathing fire, actually... There were two dragons. One was breathing fire and the other was turned away to face a upside down triangle. What does that mean..? It's not the first time I've seen that piece before. Fado said it wasn't a coincidences that it's on my shirt either. I still don't understand what's going on

I felt that aura again when going down to find Darunia, like a piece is somewhere here, but I don't see it. Ignoring it for now, we calmed down the angry Darunia from getting upset that the Royal messenger ended up being two kids, and because of the ancient creatures infesting Dodongo's cavern. Link suggested to play Saria's song to calm him down, which was the plan in my head, and worked. Hearing it earlier from the short cut we passed by earlier, he must of thought it was a good idea to play

Darunia started dancing like a wild man. I knew he danced crazy but this is ridiculous! He finally introduced himself to us properly and told us if we wanted the Goron's Ruby, we had to do the task of taking care of those monsters. We got the Goron's bracelet to help our mission and went off to Dodongo's cavern

Before leaving, I turned around confused when feeling that aura again and hear sobbing. A red light figure of Link's adult self was standing behind a corner, staring at me with tears running down his sad eyes. I gasped and ran towards him. We faced each other, staring into each other's eyes

"I'm sorry..." He cried

"Why..?"

"I don't know how to help you..." My eyes widened "I feel pathetic. I want to protect you, but you're all sad and I don't know what to do! I'm sad because of it..." I reached to hold him, but he disappeared, leaving a breeze to blow my hair back. Link... Is that how he feels..? Is he really that sad that he can't help me..?

Using a bomb was scary! Link was the one holding the Goron's bracelet and lifted the large plant bomb to destroy the large rock blocking Dodongo's cavern. Link followed every command of mine through the place since I knew how to get around. The lava made the place make us sweat by the second we enter the room surrounded by it

Through out the place, when it comes to fighting monsters. He would always have me stay away so he could fight and protect me. I had to wait outside the boss entrance until he was finished. I guess this was for the best, I don't have a sword or know how to protect myself. I went around collecting the remaining gold Skulltulas here while he was fighting

All Link needed was bombs we collected through the place. As he was taking care of King Dodongo, I sat down to put my backpack in front of me and take out one of the music boxes I brought from my bedroom. Many of the boxes had their own colors, making it easy to tell which is which. I leaned against the wall close to the entrance where King Dodongo was and started playing a song, known as the Moon Song from the bottom of the black box

Moon song huh? I wonder if it's like the sun song if I play it on my ocarina. I couldn't find out the keys to the song on the ocarina. I'm not good at music. Maybe Link can help me

"Blue maiden!" I looked around confused. Who said that? "Find me!"

"Lina!" Link's voice shouted from the pit he was in. The roaring that was heard earlier was gone. I must've not noticed when I was trying to know where that voice was coming from. Was it my imagination?

And I didn't notice how far down the pit was where the boss was! I screamed on my way down and got caught in Link's arms. We were both on the floor "s-sorry!" I gasped, getting off his arms under me.

His arms were covered in blisters from what I'm sure was from the lava he was running around by. I wonder how big King Dodongo was, but I don't want to think about it. I know Link is strong enough to handle anything! I believe in him

"Oh Link... Your arms" he looked at his arms

"Oh..."

"Let's get some aid"

"No, I'm fine" he looked at my hands "what's that?" I held up my music box

"Oh!" I started playing it "it use to be my old music box. It's called the moon song. I wanted to see what it sound like on the ocarina" Link listened to the notes before taking his ocarina from his pouch and played it perfectly for me. I'm not sure if it'll effect anything outside like the sun song would effect the day, but we'll have to see

"Thanks! Let's get out of here" Link and Navi looked at each other

"How..?" I looked around the room in a panic. There was no portal to take us back to the entrance of the cavern!

"W-what..? Where's the portal?! There was one in the Great Deku tree when that monster was killed!"

"Lina... The great Deku made that... There's no one here to make a portal here..." Navi frowned "we're stuck here..." I took my head and took out my ocarina

"No we're not, I'll take us to Kakariko graveyard" before getting myself to play the Nocturne of shadow, my mind suddenly got itself to think about a music box in my bag. I took out the white box and played the Cry for Home... I wonder what it does

"Link? Can you play this?" He nodded and took his time to learn the song like he did for the moon song. A portal of light appeared on the floor. I cheered happily "wow! There it is!" So these songs possess magical properties as well... I have to test all them out now! I wonder what the Moon song did though

"Come on! Come on!" I cheered, taking Link's hand

"Are you sure it's safe..?" Navi asked

"Don't worry about that! Let's go!" I took her from the wings and ran towards the light with Link. It teleported us to the entrance of Dodongo's cavern. I cheered but then stopped when feeling a awful hit of cold air blow at me. It was... Snowing

Link and Navi caught the snow falling from the air like they never seen it before, which I'm sure they haven't since they lived in the forest. I took out my white music box in shock

"This song made it snow..?" That's... Amazing. Songs like this were in my room? Above my bed? How did I end up having these?

Link and Navi was all in the snow before Darunia came dropping from the sky. I put my box away and stood next to Link in the snow. After all that sweating, all this snow is going to freeze us to death

Not trying to hurt Link with a head pat Darunia was giving him, he thanked us and blamed the trouble on Ganondorf, of course. Darunia made us sworn siblings, a token of our friendship. I agreed, but knew what was going to happen and backed away. He gave Link the Goron's Ruby, finally. I smiled and backed away a little more. Get ready to run Link

Two Goron's came from the sky to congratulate us and came for a hug. I was already my way up the mountain when Link and Navi started screaming and followed. I laughed hysterically. It might be cold, but I was just in a great mood. I find myself becoming useful because of my songs! I guess I was useful helping Link around, but the songs! I have my own songs! I feel so amazing right now! I have to know what they can do!

"Lina! Wait!" I stopped running and looked at Link trying to follow me, but he was very slow

"Oh! Dear... I'm so sorry" I took his hand and took out my ocarina "I didn't realize how tired you were. I got a song that can warp us to the top of the death mountain. Sorry I forgot about this before" he stared at me, out of breath. The great fairy should help heal him... I played the Bolero of Fire, warping us to the top of the mountain, where I jumped when I saw the owl behind me. I didn't think we would warp outside! The Triforce platform was out here in front of death mountain entrance instead of inside like the game

"We're on top now?" Navi asked. I faced the owl sleeping... Huh. That's new. I guess it's good that he doesn't notice us right now. We can go see the great fairy... Who looked creepy in my opinion. Her laugh made my ears ring...

"Welcome Link! Lina! I am the great fairy of Power!" She looked at me "but I'm sure you already knew that" I blushed. she gave Link a kiss on the head and healed his wounds when offering a sword technique. He looked dizzy and fainted

"Link!?" I gasped

"Don't worry! He's learning the spin attack I had thought him without properly showing him. It's a artificial way of learning, but it'll get the job done" she laughed. I stood up and faced her "blue maiden... Your destiny is much more greater than you think it appears to be. Gathering the pieces you've been achieving won't be so easy. When there's one piece, there's many other emotions following thee, the basic ones will be different than the others depending which smaller emotion it can carry. When battle has made you weary, please come and see me" she disappeared back to the fountain

"The basic emotions I'm finding will have other emotions following it, but I'm starting to think there are so much more. There's so many emotions out there... I'm sure Curiosity, Devotion, and Hope gave Link other emotions. That makes sense..."

"You're looking for his emotions?" Navi asked. I guess she knows now

"Yeah... But it's more complicated than that..." Link begun to wake up "come on Link! Let's get the owl to fly us to Hyrule castle and show Zelda the stone!" He was staring at his healed arms before getting up to follow me outside. So much is happening... Just one more spiritual stone to go...
