Chapter 3: Devotion

I drew Link a little different but it's understandable and you'll see why! Enjoy!

After resting, since Link, Navi, and I have been fighting in the Deku tree all night, it was time for us to leave Kokiri Forest. When telling this to the other Kokiris that already became fond of me and has been talking smack to Link about letting the Deku tree die, they told us that if Link leaves the forest then he'll die. Even if they believe he killed the Deku tree and even disbelieved he was ever a Kokiri, many of them were sad to see him go, us go.

They called him a official Kokiri, a man, now that he had Navi, but Link didn't care for anyone in the slightest. We were on our way to the bridge, just a few steps away before Saria called out to Link, but there was something else that caught my attention. It was something in the path of the exit... It felt like something was out there. A strong aura

"Lina..?" I looked at Saira facing me with a frown. Link was staring down at the fairy ocarina I'm sure she gave him as a memento. I faced her, smiling with my hands together

"Saria..." She looked down

"There's something different about Link... I'm not sure what it is exactly, but I think I should thank you" she put on a smile "Link is my best friend, I've been with him for a long time. He never had a fairy and always been called a Kokiri wanna be. I always defended him and been with him through out everything. The Deku tree told me to take care of him, since he lacked anything a living body needed to be fully functional as a person. It didn't have to tell me to take care of him, I knew what I had to do... And I knew there will be a day when Link will leave. I knew he was different from me and my friends" she played with her fingers nervously, then smiled "please Lina... Even if we just met yesterday, I want you to take care..." She held my hand "there's something about you... I don't know what it is, but it makes you special. I'm glad we met... Please come back to the forest to visit" I nodded with a smile

"Of course..." I looked at Link putting his ocarina in his pocket "come on Link..." I looked at the exit "there's... So much out there we have to explore..." There's something out there that I have to find... Something is calling me right now. Heh... Probably that owl that's waiting for me outside

To my surprise, the owl wasn't anywhere near. In fact. The exit form Kokiri Forest and the path towards Hyrule field was twisted with leafs and tree branches. It was oddly dark and everything covered the sun. It was like we played the sun song and suddenly changed to night time. No, it was just a new feature in this new reality I have to go through

Luckily, the path to the end wasn't so long and I could already feel the sunlight glowing on me. Reaching the open space and see the gigantic field in front of us and over to a large castle I can see for miles, something stopped us from going further. Who is it? I think it's pretty obvious

"Hoot hoot! Hello... Lina" he greeted me? "It appears you have finally awaken to start your adventure with the child destined to leave the forest"

"How do you know me..?" Isn't this bird the spirit of Rauru or something? It lifted its leg and dropped a rolled up scroll, which I'm assuming is a map?

"There are things I know and things I don't know. You have your own destiny to find through this adventure just like Link. Hoot hoot hoot! Bye bye!" It flew off. I sighed, crossing my arms. This bird really... Annoys me. It always have something random to say. At least for me. That thing knew me... I want to know how it knew me but then again, this is Hyrule. A lot of unexpected things happen

We walked towards the direction of Hyrule castle. Not even coming close to the market, we had to camp out for the night. I don't know much about making a fire, so I had Navi help me while Link leaned against a tree, staring at the moon. I wish I knew exactly what he's thinking... Or if he's thinking at all. What made him drive to the motivation to help the great Deku tree if he didn't have feelings? Was it really because I told him to? Actually... I never said a word, I just brought him with me and he naturally knew what he had to do. I smiled, knowing that hope was probably the reason for it

"Link?" He looked at me as I scooted over to him "can you try to help? I don't know if you know how, I don't know either, but we need help" he leaned over to the hole I made for the fire place, and used two sticks to rub together to make a small fire. I gasped amazed

"Whoa! You did that fast! How you do that!?" He shrugged

"I don't know... I make a lot of things for no reason... I discovered how to make fire fast and even made that slingshot you used yesterday" I took out my slingshot. He's so creative... I'm so glad that part of him never left him. Can I call it creativity if he doesn't know what he's doing?

"Link... How do you feel about all that's happening..? All this was just suddenly thrown at you, and with me... Coming out of nowhere to tell you I'll be your guide. You're following a complete stranger and... Yet all this happens. You're outside Kokiri Forest, the only place you ever knew" he looked at his knees

"I don't know... How I feel..." I frowned "what is feel?"

"Are you curious..?" He looked back up

"I don't know..."

"How about me?" He looked at me "how do you feel about me? I'm a stranger to you, am I? Because I feel like... I've always wanted to meet you. I know your destined for great things. It might not mean anything to you now, but I promise I'll stay by your side until the end" I took his hand "Link... I don't know who I am... But I'm happy to know I can be someone for you" I put on my strongest smile, trying not to cry, but failed

"I always felt like I was good for nothing. I'm not good at anything and I knew I was useless... I grew up feeling pathetic. That's why I'm happy to be useful for you. I'll do everything in my will to help you. I hope you can accept me as a friend. That's all I want right now"

"You are very kind..." I flinched and looked to the side to see a child in a long lavender robe with a hood to hide the top half of his face. Holding a lamp, he looked like a human Poe "I can respect someone like you..." His voice sounds familiar. There's something about his aura that gets to me

"Who are you!?" Navi glared. I stood up, frowning at the figure in front of me, smiling

"your name... Is Lina, correct?" He ignored Navi, only acknowledging me

"How do you know...who are you?" He put down his lamp

"Lina... hearing how much you want to be with me, I do not mind being by your side. You have shown me your Loyality"

"You?" He smiled a little more before removing his hood. I cupped my mouth in shock. Link..? His eyes glowed a beautiful lavender color. Could this... Be another piece of his heart? a physical being that Rauru was talking about living among this world? "You're..." He nodded, kneeling before me with his head bowed in respect

"I have wondered all around Hyrule Field and beyond the desert... Finding my purpose in every detail of the land. Thank you... I can finally fulfilled my destiny and be loyal to the ones that need me" he stood back up, smiling, before turning into a ball of light and place himself in my hand, becoming a piece of the Triforce. I smiled, turning around to give Link his piece back. He stared at it, took it, and made it one with his body and hand again. His left hand glowed brighter than before... I'm so happy

"That was... So much easier than I thought" I sat next to him "I hope it'll be this easy finding the other pieces..." That part of Link was his devotion... That was... What I was feeling back by the exit of Kokiri Forest

"Lina... What's going on? What just happened..?" Navi frowned, sitting on my knee. I didn't want to say anything in front of Link, or mention it at all really... All I told her was that this was my role in my destiny. I couldn't tell them, and she understood. If she sees another Link out there, she can't question it

That Loyal Link was dressed as a Poe, that was the cutest thing I had ever seen. He kept himself hidden. I wonder how well these Links stay hidden or live through this life in the child timeline or Adult timeline

"How do you feel now Link..?" He stayed silent, taking my hand, surprising me

"I feel... Like I can't leave you now" my eyes widened

"W-what..?" I shook my head and laid my head on his shoulder "n-nevermind..." He's just being loyal to me "let's just go to sleep... We have a long way to go before we reach Hyrule Castle..." He nodded, placing his head on mine as Navi flew into Link's hat for warmth. Lucky her... It's going to be hard sleeping in this field like this, in the cold. No one said this adventure will be easy, but at least we have each other to stay warm. Knowing I was with him like this, I feel warm all over

It took a few days before we could reach the Market. I swear, why does it have to be like this!? It takes too long to get around this way!

Other than having to sleep in the cold field where it was certainly unsafe with all these monsters, we manage to survive and made it! "We made it! Yes! That took longer than I thought..." Navi said

"I hope it's not always going to be like this. We need to get good transportation soon" Link let out a long stretch. I smiled at him "are you hungry, Link?"

"I guess"

"I am!" Navi cheered. I nodded and looked around for that one place that always give me rupees when I destroy the pots. Finding it, seeing that it was a control room where they control the bridge opening and closing. For a place like this, I'm not sure why all these pots are here. Now this is real life, I don't want to get in trouble for destroying everything, so I'll be a good girl and just reach for the rupees

I got a good amount of money! These rupees are so pretty! I can't believe they're currency! When collecting rupees, I got myself another golden Skulltula I know is going to be useful in the future. My bag won't fill everything, so I wonder where I can store everything when my bag gets full.

"What were you doing in there?" Navi asked. I chuckled and walked to the market

"Let's just say we're going to satisfy our hunger today!" Her mouth started drooling, Link held his growling stomach "let's get something to eat, it's been forever since I've ate. All I had was an apple back in the forest" I laughed and ran to the entrance of the market, seeing so many people looking around booths and tents selling thing. This place is so big that it's scary. They sell so many things here that I wish I had more rupees to buy everything! But for now, we need food

Walking around the market, admiring the designs of the buildings and things that were selling, I stopped in my tracks to feel that strange aura I felt before. Another piece of the Triforce... It's around here somewhere

"Lina?" We stopped in front of a steam corn on the cob tent. The smell was heavenly, making my own mouth drool "are you okay?" Navi asked, referring to why I suddenly stopped

"Oh! Yeah... Hey mister! How much for two?" I asked the tall old man

"Two is 35 rupees young lady" I glared, holding my hips

"What kind of deal is that?" Stop that, I don't know the actual price for anything out here is... 35 can be cheap and I wouldn't even know it "sorry... Um. Does that include with everything on it?"

"Yes" I sighed, facing my friends

"Let's look for some more rupees, I know a few places" I almost ran into someone "oh! I'm sorry!" My eyes widened at who I saw "oh!"

"Why, that's mighty fine! I was just walking by because I was curious about you both. You're clothes... The both of you, they're... Different. You two aren't from around here, are you?" I'm not sure where I'm from exactly... Rauru told me I was kept asleep in the sacred realm, but I don't know anything about my life before that

"Link here is from Kokiri Forest. I'm Lina, I'm not sure where I am from exactly" I said honestly

"Ohh... A fairy boy! And... A mysterious girl. You're hair is very strange, but beautiful... And your clothes look expensive. The golden thread shines perfectly in the sun" I guess it does "my name is Malon, my dad owns Lon Lon ranch! He went to the castle to deliver some milk and I've been here waiting for him. I saw that you're in quite of a hassle... How about some free milk and I'll give you those extra rupees you need for your food"

"What?! That's so generous but that's too much of you!" She giggled

"It's fine! All I ask in return is for you to keep me company. I don't have to tell my dad I gave away two of our last milk bottles. It'll be okay. We can make more" I smiled, looking at Link

"Look Link, we'll even have milk with our meal!" He nodded, bowing to her

"Thank you" I smiled. Malon giggled and paid for the rest of the corn I bought for Link and I, and Navi. She was a small fairy, she didn't really need to eat much of my corn nubs

It was midday and the entire time we spend it with Malon playing around the market. We ran around playing tag, and even hide and seek. I can't remember the last time I played this game, but it's more fun when you're a kid. I love being this way, but it's not going to last

"Seriously..? My dad is still in the castle?! He must have fell asleep somewhere" Malon groaned. I looked at Link petting a dog before standing from our seats

"Did you hear some guy trying to sneak into the castle to meet Princess Zelda? He's got security tight up now. I would find him for you if you like" I said. that's not the only reason why I'm going, but she doesn't have to know. She nodded, standing after me

"I know a way to sneak there if you want the way" she winked "come on! And thanks for this! I owe you one!" I waved my hand, following her

"No, you got us free milk and paid for our food, don't say that you owe me!"

"You kept me company, so you're fine!" We arrived at the path towards Hyrule Castle. Malon lead us to a vine ladder. This path was so much farther than expected, but at least it's still midday! "Climb up here and you'll be there in no time! Tell my dad I'm waiting for him here! Don't forget!" I waved and started climbing the vines with Link. It's almost time to meet Princess Zelda... I'm so nervous. What will she think of me? Or more importantly, my hair? Heh... That shouldn't be a thing to worry about, should it?
