Chapter 19: Truth

"Here" Link stared at my hands confused when I handed him the fire arrow, or what it's called in the game. This is the gem that has to be attached to the bow in order to create arrows that shoot fire "what are you surprised about? I told you what it does, give it a shot" he held the palm size rock and threw it up in the air like a ball "it's not a toy!"

"How do I use this?" Heck do I know? He took off his bow from between his arm and shoulder and pulled on a regular arrow. I stood right close to his chest to attach it to his bow. It stuck on like glue. Eyes stared dead at me. I looked up to see him staring at me. I blushed, not looking away

Since he's gotten his love piece back... He never stops looking at me like that. It always makes me feel nervous and embarrassed

"W-what are you looking at..?" He smiled a little

"I..." His smile dropped and looked back at the bow. He... Seems nervous "n-nothing..." I stared at him aiming his arrow "so... Just shoot?" I nodded, pointing at the fire torch I set up in Zora's domain. I forgot that many of them were staring at us... They wanted to see what a fire arrow can do since I mention it. Looks like I'm the only one to know it exist.

I got it when staying up all night roaming around the domain, the fountain, and even Lake Hylia. When the morning sun raised, I stole Link's bow he likes having in his possession, and shot it at the sun to receive the fire... Gem, I guess? It just fell from the sky, which was weird, but at least I have it

"Yeah, just shoot like you always do" he pulled back the string, making the fire start. He freaked a little, I held his shoulders from behind to make him focus "it's not going to hurt you... Shoot where I told you to" he nodded and shot the fire arrow at the torch, setting it on fire. Link looked beyond amazed as well as the zoras, who clapped at what they just witnessed. I smiled happily at Link "great job!"

"That was cool! Is there other like this?"

"Two more. We'll get them another time, but let's use this for the moment" Our time in the domain was peaceful and relaxing. Everyone was recovering quickly and it's lovely to watch how everyone is back to normal. Seeing the smiles on everyone's faces, My heart felt so warm that I started humming softly and jumped to the water to spin around gracefully. I was in a great mood... Even if I didn't get any sleep last night, I felt like I found my peace and accepted myself as who I am now. I'm growing and I have the goddess of time by my side. Now I feel like I can do anything

"Oh youth..." I sang the ballad of the goddess "guided by the servant of the goddess, unite earth and sky, and bring light to the land... Oh youth, show the two whirling sails the way to the light tower..." My vision showed me a memory of seeing a play through of skyward sword, staring at my point of view from a island and watching Skyloft from a far and noticed a red Loftwing flying towards me. I continued singing "and before you... A path shall open, and a heavenly song..." My vision showed me my point of view staring at Link talking to his pointy green hat in annoyance, his face was covered in makeup, then at me before laughing "you shall hear..." My last vision showed me of Link standing in front of a sword in a pedestal before pulling it and become four Links wearing different colored tunics.

I stopped spinning around in a dance and stared at the wall, feeling my tears continuing to fall... Why am I crying..? I picked up a tear and stared at it. It looked like it had a hint of light inside it before dripping off my finger. I wiped them all off and scurried over to Link waiting for me. The zoras were clapping and cheering for my performance. I actually forgot anyone was in the room

"Come on, let's get back to Kakariko before anything happens" I told Link

"What's going to happen?" I avoided the question and looked at the zoras

"Thank you! Everyone! For having us!" I bowed my head. all the zoras bowed for me. I blushed and rushed out with Link, pulling him by the hand to Zora's river.

I never learned how Scotty died from anyone... I know within my heart he was helping someone, but the information never came clear to me. I wish he would've been more careful with whatever happened to him... I knew in my heart he really wanted to help but mostly find a reason to come back to me. A suicide... How unforgiving... At least he died happy

"You know, Lina" Link spoke when we rode on Epona across Hyrule field back to Kakariko. I would use the Nocturne of Shadow, but I think it'll be better off if we just rode there "that song you played was really pretty, but it's thick in the Hylian language... I didn't think you could speak Hylian. I always hear you speak English, but Hylian?" I blushed. I remember having this conversation with Dark Link

"I can't speak Hylian... That song is the only part of the Hylian language I can speak" I pouted my lips "but... I can speak Gofilic" he looked over at me

"Gofilic? I never heard of it... Let's hear it" when I spoke, he stopped Epona and stared at me oddly "what the in the goddesses name..? You actually said words?" I giggled at his shock "what did you say?"

"Ki no para chiruku basha be intaka" he looked so dumbfounded. I laughed, petting his head. Navi giggled, facing me

"You're saying... 'What? Oh, you're fine, it's nothing' right?" Oh!

"You know Gofilic?" She shook her head

"No, but it's a fairy thing to know any language that's spoken. It's easy to figure out what you said... But it's not a language in this world" I was a little taken back. Link gave me a sad smile. He knows about the story I told Love... Navi held my cheeks "but that just makes you even more unique. You're so great!" I smiled, taking her by the wings and place her on my shoulder

"Don't remind me how unique I am. I just want to get through this and get to discover who I am. The next thing I need is more things to figure out about myself. Now I'm the only one who can speak a language that's not even a thing..?" I sighed "great..."

"Don't sweat it, I'm sure you'll find out soon" Link said. I nodded "listen... Lina. I want to tell you something... About Scotty"

"Scotty..?" He looked down

"He was... In the water temple with me"

"What??" What was he doing in the temple?

"He was with Princess Ruto and joined me. the two of us went around the temple until we found that... Dark side of my heart you mentioned. Me and that dark side of me fought. He was throwing some words at me and it got to me alittle... Making me go at him foolishly without thinking... If it wasn't for Scotty pushing me out the way, I could had died..." He was shaking bad "I didn't think he would do that... It was my fault he died. I'm sorry... If only I was thinking straight. He still would've been alive" I didn't have any words. This was the thing Scotty didn't want to tell me... It was the reason why he wanted to thank Link. He... Took the blow for him because of what I experienced when Link died... He was thinking of me. I understand now... Scotty. Thank you for protecting our happiness... May Hyrule be in peace because of your bravery.

I pet Link's head and kissed his hand, surprising him "it's alright... He meant to do it. For us. He knew what could have happened if something happened to you" I rested my head on his shoulder "his death was a honor... He said he's risk his life for me, and without you... I don't know where my life would take me. Hyrule will be doomed and I think I'd die if you did... He told me to thank you..." His eyes filled up with tears before letting them fall

"Lina... I-" Before I let him speak, it felt like a bell just went off, signaling there was danger near

"Link..." I gulped, feeling nervous "go, run... Run now!" I pointed at the direction of Kakariko. We're so close "go to Kakariko!" Link looked at the direction of the village, seeing smoke coming from it. He shouted at his steed to make Epona hurry to where the danger was.

As we made it there, Link jumped off Epona when giving me the ropes to stop her. Epona and I stood behind him, staring up at Kakariko on fire. I jumped off Epona and played the song of storms to ease this fire. Link looked around and raced into a house to save others who were screaming for help. I remained on my spot, knowing the rain that was just appearing will calm everything down.

Putting my ocarina away, I searched around the village to look for Impa or Shauna in the rain. I know Impa is okay but Shauna... Please be okay. I don't want to loose you. You're the one I've been with the most. You're the best of friend I have ever had...

Where I found myself running was in front of my home. The roof was gone, but at least everything else remained. That... Wasn't what I was worried about, but everything inside. My parent's stuff...

"Lina..." I turned to look who called me. It was a echo... Meaning someone was calling me from a far. I ran from my home and found myself in front of the well. Shauna laid on her stomach in front of it with Sheik helping her back on her knees

"Shauna!" I ran towards her. She shakily looked up

"Get back!" She threw her hands outward at me and sheik to throw us in the air away from her. The wooden part of the well was thrown off the stones at the same time Link showed up with his arms and clothes all burned. Some kind of force grabbed her body and shook her in the air before slamming her on the ground. I gasped and ran towards her, but Sheik held me close and kept Link near with her arm.

Something escaped from the well. It was a sort of shadow, roaming around the village in search for something. It turned to face us, then raced towards Shauna struggling to stand. I gasped and escaped Shiek's arms to run towards my friend...

Something came over me. I reached out to my side to grab a stick that appeared from my light and pointed it towards the shadow. The light that came from the mysterious stick I created blinded me and knocked me off my feet. Link's arms helped me sit back up. Looking around, the shadow was gone and the stick I used was nowhere in sight...

"Lina, what did you do?" Link asked. I looked at my hands before looking up at Shauna sitting up, staring at me with a frown

"I... Don't know" I crawled back to check on Shauna "are you alright..?" She smiled, nodding

"What was that?" Link asked

"The evil shadow spirit has been released..." Sheik said "Impa had sealed the evil shadow spirit in the bottom of the well. But the force of the evil spirit got so strong, the seal of the well broke, and it escaped into the world!" Shauna looked down at herself before standing

"The fire was the cause of that evil spirit and intruded Maria's cooking... You know, the lady who made you and Link the feast when you two don't know how to know when you should eat? The evil spirit went into her house and caused her to create the fire... Spreading around the village... Killing only one person in the process... Her" Link and I were in shock. That evil spirit... Killed Maria? The sweet lady who'd love mothering Link and I..? "I stayed here to protect everyone while Impa has gone to the Shadow Temple to seal it again... Alas... I was too weak to fight on my own and Impa will be in danger without any help" she began crying before loosing balance. Link caught her and sat her back down

"Shauna..." I spoke. All I could do was stare at her, crying

"Impa is one of the six sages..." Sheik said, surprising Link. Shauna and I were already aware from the very start. I took her hands. She smiled and came up for a hug "Sealing it won't be enough... Please, Link, Lina... Destroy the evil shadow spirit and save Impa" I nodded and looked back at Shauna growing weak

"S-Shauna..." She chuckled weakly

"It was my dream to become a Sheikah... But I know I can never be one. It's not in my blood... Sheikahs are destined to protect the royal family, but the only person I want to protect is you..." Her body was getting heavy. I softly let her down on the grass "you are the reason for my dreams... You are my only reason to live. Now that it's my time, I can finally be with you always" I shook my head

"No! This is happening too fast! Just hang on! Don't die on me!" She smiled with her eyes growing heavy

"I've been through a rough fight... But at least I can pass on my skills and keen eye to you. I wish we could have been together longer, but this is destiny and you need to be completed like Link... Please, play your lullaby and put me to peace. Don't worry, this won't be the last time we meet" her eyes finally closed completely. I bit my lips hard, not even caring that the rain was making my hair stick on my face.

"I don't want anyone else dying again... Why does it have to be like this..?" She had already stopped breathing. I bit my lips again hard, trying not to let out a sob and played my lullaby to put her body to rest. Her lip curled up as her body turned into a purple light and circled around me to become one with my heart. I shakily stood up to see Link and Sheik frown at me. I used my powers to take out the lens of truth I've found in the bottom of the well when I was playing down there as a kid

"Let's get going... Link" I don't want them seeing me like this. I don't like when others witness my weakness... I have to be strong. For Hyrule...

"Lina..." Sheik reached for me, but stopped herself and walked backwards "be careful... Both of you. Let me take care of the village... I'm counting on both of you..." She shut her eyes for a second before using a Deku nut to disappear. I refused to look at Link. I must be a mess right now

"Lina..." He spoke

"I've lost so many people... And that's not going to be the end of it... There will be one more that will have to suffer. To her she might not suffer, but because of this darkness surrounding the land, many others have suffered right now because of Ganondorf. I won't let anyone else suffer. Maria died because of that evil spirit!" I glared at the floor "and Shauna tried her best to protect this place... I'm tired of loosing people!" I shut my eyes to get rid of the tears in my eyes and looked at Link sternly "it's time to go to the Shadow Temple... I will guide you through the temple located behind the graveyard" he nodded and took out his ocarina to play the Nocturne of Shadow and warp us to the entrance of the shadow temple. We took shelter and got out the rain. I wiped my face from all the water on me. My hair is absolutely heavy... I had to braid it, which took me forever to do

"Hey... Um..." Link wanted to say something, but didn't have the words to know how to make me feel better. I put on a smile and lifted the lens of truth to look through my sight

"This is the lens of truth... It will reveal anything to you that's invisible. If you think you're at a dead end, there's really a pathway your eyes can't see" him and Navi looked amazed. I tried making a joke to lighten to mood "I can see through walls... I can see anything that covers something... I can even see you under that tunic" he flinched and covered himself in a panic. I giggled, feeling myself feel better again. I'm still bummed out, but there's no reason to drag the negative energy behind me "just kidding" I winked, calming him down "there are torches around us... Do you see? Here, please use Din's fire, it's a priority" he stared at me handing the power, trying to bring myself up with a lame rhyme before nodding and kept me close to threw Din's fire and set our surroundings on fire to light up the torches that will trigger the entrance to the temple
