Chapter 12: Disappointment

Link raced with Epona to win her from a man named Ingo, who is known to be the man who out cheated Talon and kicked him out the ranch. From what I know, the man is brain washed at the moment from the evil aura he possesses within his body. I know he's really a nice man, but because of what happened, happened to him

He bet off Epona when Link won a race against him, causing him to be frustrated. The aura of this ranch was covered in Link's piece... Is this emotion disappointment or what?

I left Link alone in the race so I can go look for Malon in the farm house. She was sitting on a chair, petting a cow while singing Epona's song. Malon... You've grown. I've missed you...

She stopped singing when seeing me, standing up "oh!" She dust her skirt "welcome! We haven't had visitors for a while now!" She smiled, staring at the floor "I'm Malon, my father use to own this ranch before the evil King gave that man outside, this ranch" she sighed "this ranch use to be so lively and bright, but it's so disappointing to see it turn out like this in 7 short years... It's like everything went wrong after they left..." She frowned at the ceiling. Malon...

"Oh! Sorry! I was in my own little world!" I glanced to the side to look at Link's piece sitting on a chair next to another cow, staring at me with glowing orange eyes and wearing overalls like Talon, but with a orange shirt. It seems that every piece has their own colors...

Affection: Pink
Fear: Yellow
Curiosity: Green
Devotion: Lavender
Magic: Silver
Loneliness: Aqua
Sorrow: Red
?: Orange

He stared at me blankly and turned away like he wanted to avoid me... None of the pieces had ever did that before

"Would you like to have Lon Lon Ranch's famous Lon Lon milk?" Malon offered "it's on me" I gently took the bottle, watching her refuse to look at me

"Why won't you look at me..?" She looked at my eyes surprise before taking in my appearance, starting from my blue shirt (that changed when I turned into a adult) to my hair. Her body started shaking as she cupped her mouth in shock

"I-is that really you..?" She stared at my eyes "Lina..." I smiled softly "it's been 7 years! Oh my goddess!" She jumped to hug me. I chuckled and hugged her back. So much time passed, hasn't it..? "I'm sorry I didn't notice earlier, I just haven't looked at anyone since what happened. Eye contact is rude now to some people..." She let go of me "look at you... Your hair grew... You've matured.."

"So have you" she giggled a little, but sighed and looked over at the piece

"This is another one of our workers... He looks familiar, like Fairy boy, but I don't know what fairy boy looks like now" I nodded "Dissy, dear" Dissy? Like Disappointment? "Come meet my friend!" Dissy didn't look pleased to see me and went back to milking the cow "he's pretty shy and lacks self confidence, but he's a hard worker" I stared at him before walking over to him. So he's shy and lacks confidence...

Before I could say anything, he spoke with a attitude "I'm not going with you" I was taken back

"Excuse me?" Malon walked up to us

"What's wrong?" She asked us. Dissy looked away, making a face

"That hero doesn't need me... Why would he need disappointment and guilt in his life..? Attitude isn't going to get him anywhere, so why get me now? Going on a big journey, don't you think him worrying is going to help anyone?" I huffed

"Nobody's perfect. Everyone has their negative traits. If Link is going to have a attitude or gets worried, that's going to make him human. Everyone has their moments, don't make excuses!" He looked surprised at me "Link needs every piece! Don't tell me you won't come with me" I gently took his shoulder "because I need you" his eyes softened "I want Link to be truthful to me... There might be guilt and shyness involved, but that's going to help him grow" he looked down

"Fine..." He stood up "at least I won't be a disappointment here..." He wrapped his arms around me, shocking me before turning into a light to land in my hands. I sighed and looked back at Malon looking shock. Putting on a smile, I made sure she knew he was... Sort of a guardian. It didn't make sense to her, but she didn't question anything

"I better go find Link. I'm sure he won Epona by now" Malon looked surprised

"What?" She put her hands together happily "oh Lina! Thank you! Now Epona won't be sold off to that evil King! Take Epona from here and leave far away!" I nodded, gave her one last hug before leaving out back to the ranch to see Link pointing his sword at a few Gerudo while Ingo was on the floor behind him, passed out. I gasped. What's happening!?

"Where do you think you're going?" One of the Gerudo asked. Link glared, protecting Ingo

"Back off!" I gripped on the piece before feeling something within my body telling me something I wouldn't know by learning. It was instincts... Link started attacking the Gerudos one by one, but was out numbered. I lifted my arms, making light appear and flash it towards the Gerudo. They groaned and left the ranch

I ran towards Link to take his hand and jump on Epona "Lina! What are you-?!" I gave him his piece without letting him finish and ran Epona to the fences to leave the ranch "what about-?!"

"They'll be fine!" I calmed Epona down after we made it to the entrance of Kokiri Forest. I was out of breath, even if Epona was the one that ran us here

"Lina..?" Navi spoke. I looked at my hands. What did I do..? How did I make that light come from my hands..? Is that... My mother's power? Or a power she gave back to me? Agh... I have a headache

"Let's just go find Saria..." And Fado... Link got off Epona to help me down, but on my way down, I collapsed into his arms

"Lina!" Link asked, putting me on the ground. My body felt weak. It's like my lungs were desperate for air. Link slapped my cheeks softly "hey! Hey! What's wrong?"

"I don't know..."

"You used too much of your magic..." We looked to the side to see Fado on the entrance of the forest

"Fado..." I frowned. She gave a small smile as Link let me lean on his chest

"To those who have the ability to use magic... Every one of them has a limit amount of it... Because you only have minimum magic in your body for now. You can say you have a short magic meter" she giggled. I weakly smiled as Link carried me in his arms "come... I will make you some green tea, or potion" she winked before walking off. Link followed her pass the bridge

"Be careful, there are evil creatures in the forest now... We must avoid them. Mido is out with the other guys trying to take care of them to protect the girls" Fado kept us walking around the forest to avoid actually going through the village and made it to her tree.

Fado gave me a bottle of green liquid, which smelled like warm green tea, which isn't the most pleasant smell for me. If this will help me feel better, I'll take it.

After gulping it all down, it's like my weak body suddenly jumped and healed "whoa..." Fado giggled and handed Link a red potion. He drank it casually "is that a red potion?" I asked

"Yeah" Link wiped his lip and looked relieved. I smiled and pet his head. He stared at me before looking down with a look of disappointment

"Link?"

"I couldn't protect Ingo... And I let you fight instead. Look what happened to you. I should had been quicker" I pouted

"Oh please" he looked surprised "now you're just finding a way to make yourself feel guilty. You were out numbered, that's understandable. Ingo will be fine and it was my choice to use my magic like that. It was my first time using it like that and I used it all up. Don't put yourself down" I stood up "there's no time to feel guilty, besides... I am a big girl. Don't worry too much about me" he stood after me to take my hand

"I am worried! I don't want anything happening to you! If anything goes wrong under my watch with anything, of course I'm going to feel bad!" I was taken back with his sudden voice

"I understand that Link, but we have to keep our chins up. Anything that goes wrong we can fix together, got it?" He looked away. I grabbed his chin to make him look at me in the eye "look at me, I'm guiding you and I'm telling you it's going to be okay. What happened back in Lon Lon Ranch wasn't your fault. I'm fine, everything is going to be fine... Trust me" he sighed

"You two are weird" Fado said "but I'll respect anything my blue maiden does... My life is made for you. It won't be long until I will be able to give you my power" I frowned as she stood up to make some more green potion for me and red potion for Link

"Fado... Does it really have to be this way..?" She looked back at me and nodded

"You need the other parts of your magic... Your destiny is coming to a end soon, neither of us know when the exact point is, but you're going to need the other parts of us very soon" she winked "but I can give you a hint on when these parts will be important... Majora..." My eyes widened as I gasped. Termina..? We're going to Termina soon?! I looked at Link staring at us

"Termina?" Navi asked

"It is something that is not in concern right now... We need to focus on finding Saria" I said with confidence. I can't worry about Termina. Out of all things I have to worry about, this is going to be the last thing that should be a concern to me. If I have to guide Link through that route, I will

"Saria said she went to the forest temple to take care of all the mess that's been happening in Kokiri Forest. Many Kokiris believed that everything happened because Link left us and the Great Deku tree is gone... But that's not the case" Fado explained. Link's hand tightened in a fist, angrily, before he ran out with his sword in his hand. I looked at Fado staring at me with a sad smile before I went after Link fighting some monsters in the forest with so much anger. I could see tears falling down his cheeks. It wasn't from sadness, he was frustrated... That's what I'm sure disappointment carried

"Link..." I walked over to him, not even caring if he was still swinging. I was getting too close, when I did, he stopped in time, staring in shock. His body was shaking horribly. I trusted that he'd stop "I know you are frustrated... And soon, you're going to feel worse when I hand you sorrow and regret... Link, right now. Notice that I'm here. I know how you're feeling... I grew up thinking I was pathetic, but you grew up well without a care in the world. You grew up in peace, don't you want to keep that peace here..? Then you're going to have to calm down before you do something stupid" He just faced me, breathing heavily "there's nothing you're feeling that I don't understand. You don't have to be alone on this..." His breath seemed like it was getting thicker. I frowned at the fact that he wants to feel something he can't. I walked up and gave him a hug "it's okay... You're still growing... You'll understand every emotion soon and you'll get to understand who you are. Let's go now..." He nodded, holding me tight. Softly stroking his soft hair, I heard footsteps coming towards us. I opened my eyes to find us surrounded

"Don't move!" The Kokiris were surrounding us. Link let go of me to take out his ocarina. What's going on..?

"Drop your weapons! Don't you know who we are!?" I asked with my voice strong. Strangely, it feels like my confidence grows more and more each day... Like my wisdom grew beyond its point. Before, it was below ground level...

I knew the answer to my own question, but because of my hair, I would think they would know... It's dark right now, it's understandable since they can't see me

"Why would we know any adults!?" Mido asked "who do you think you are? That Kokiri-like clothing won't fool us!"

"Even the other Kokiris..." Link whispered "just like Fado... Why hasn't any of them grown up..?"

"What..?" Does he still think he's a Kokiri?

"The Kokiri race is a race that stay children forever, Link" Navi said

"Wha..?" I sighed and avoided telling him. That's not up to me to tell him...

"Surrender now!" Mido shouted at us. One of the know it all brothers jumped to take a hit. I lift my hands to blind him with my light. Again... I created light. How..?

"Wait! We're here to find Saria!" Link said

"We won't allow any adults to see her! We have to protect the our girls from the likes of evil! If you know Saria, you're going to have proof!" Link and I looked at each other before he played her song. The kokiris stood down, putting their weapons away

"How do you..?" I stepped forward

"Now do you believe us?" He looked down "please... This forest had grown thicker from I can tell. We can't go out to the lost woods to help our friend. Guide us to where she went... Please..." Mido looked at his friends before nodding at them and walked away. Link and I stood there before he looked back at us

"You're coming or not?" I smiled, following him through the lost woods. Through the walk, Link took care of the monsters coming at us. When not fighting, Mido kept complaining about the Kokiri that left the forest and never came back, promising he'll come back and was the reason why the forest was like this. I would glance at Link from time to time, but he only held a expression like he was trying to feel a certain way but couldn't. He looked guilty, but he wanted to feel something else

"He was this weird guy who would never talk to anyone but Saria and the great Deku tree... He never looked like he had anything on his mind. I always get mad and try to fight him, but he would just run away from me! Why wouldn't he just man up and come back!?" He started crying. Why is he crying..? "Was he too good to be my friend? He annoys me like crazy but there was something about him... I don't know why he would just leave and never come back!" He sobbed "that jerk!"

We were in front of the forest temple, which looked like some ancient ruins or something from up close. Mido was trying to get rid of his tears, but couldn't. I smiled and pet his head

"Why don't you go in with this green covered fellow and find Saria?" Link and Navi looked surprised

"What..?" Mido looked at me confused

"I thought you were suppose to guide me" Link said, making me smile

"One way to grow up is to go through paths alone..." The morning sun was going to arrive soon "you must hurry... I have a feeling I am not needed in this temple... There won't be anything that will be too difficult for you. Rescue Saria... You're the only one who can" I dug in my bag I got from home, leaving behind the boomerang and slingshot because of the aging wood, and handed Link the items he needs most, including the hookshot

"You'll need this... I'll wait for you out here"

"You sure..?" I nodded, waving my hands

"Don't forget to collect some golden Skulltulas! I believe in you! You already grown so much! You don't always need me to hold your hand!" He pouted

"But I like your hands..." I blushed before pushing him towards the temple with Mido

"Go now! Before it's too late! I'll give you one piece of advice... Look at every painting and aim at the correct one with your new weapon you're going to find!" Mido made a face

"You're weird... How do you know all this?" I rubbed the back of my head. Navi pushed the boys towards the temple, leaving me here. I walked to the pedestal in front of the temple to play my lullaby when having the need to play it. Footsteps walked towards me. I turned around and saw Zelda as Sheik facing me with sad eyes

"Blue maiden..." She spoke. I smiled for her. As I opened my mouth to speak, my body started glowing as the pedestal glowed in a ring. My hair glowed gold on the tips. What's happening..? Something inside me wanted to play my lullaby. Playing it with need, I looked back at Sheik running towards me. I reached out for her, but as soon as we were inches away from each other, my body disappeared to the chamber of time, showing me something that made me cry my eyes out
