Hideaki 'Hide' Kasai no Ki Makkuroyama- Duke of Makkuroyama. He goes by his mother's surname. He's the son of one of the former Seven Flames and the last Grand Duchess of Makkuroyama which was destroyed following their rebellion against King Orlin. He resents the monarchy somewhat due to what they did to his homeland and for killing his parents. Despite this, he avoids rocking the boat as he knows doing so would cause his people more harm than good.

Dante 'Dan' Kazumi Makkuroyama- A shy young man with a speech impediment. Dan looks up to his big brother, Hideo. His kidnapping motivated Hideo to take up Donato.

Due to bullying, he had to quit school and be home schooled by his mother. Dan enjoys playing card games in his spare time. His dream is to become the next Spirit King, the title worn by the top Spirit Duelist who currently happens to be one of those who helped save him, Rosalba Kuroriku. He plays a deck revolving around the sun and lions, two aspects connected to his parents.

Silas Katsumi Makkuroyama- The third son and fourth child. He believes that his siblings and parents don't love him so he acts out. As a child he looked up to Dante who he considered as a twin despite the one year gap.

He tends to be the loner of the family. He has a rather cynical view when it comes to relationships (friendship, family, ect.), believing them to merely be things out of convenience. That view in part was shaped when he discovered that his friends weren't truly his friends. Rather they wanted the benefits that came with interacting with a noble.

Senbonzakura 'Zaki' Kasai no Ki Makkuroyama- One time heir of the Grand Duchy of Makkuroyama. Like her brother, she uses her mother's surname. She was believed dead by her younger brother. In turn, she believed her brother had died at the hands of Eiji. She sought revenge on the monarchy for what they had done to her family, going as far as employing terrorist tactics.

She loves spending time with her family. She would go to great lengths for their sake.

Lorenzo Watanabe - A member of the Kasai no Ki clan. He spent the first half of his life living in the dense forests of the Kuroriku-Kasai no Ki border. He would often live off of the land but would occasionally go over the border to steal stuff such as clothes and medicine for his family and friends who were very poor.

He met Zaki when she unknowingly crossed the border into Kasai no Ki. He resents Kuroriku's rulers for the pain they've inflicted on his people and the environment of his homeland. Even to this day, he recalls the screams of agony of his family and friends as they died at the ends of Kuroriku's biological weapons. He trained for about half his life to get revenge on the Seven-Hill knights and King Osamu for their participation in the most recent Kuroriku-Kasai no Ki war which resulted in the destruction of his home.

He enjoys speaking to animals and plants and often gets helpful information from them. He deems himself a guardian of nature.

Suzuki Watanabe Makkuroyama- The oldest child of Suzuki and Lorenzo. She despised the Kuroriku so much that her angel became tainted by it, thus granting her demonic powers. She is a typical older sister, berating her younger brother for his antics yet caring for his safety.

Reno Watanabe Makkuroyama- The second child of Zaki and Lorenzo. He trained all his life to battle the younger generation of Seven Hill Knights. He loves rock and metal music. In his spare time, he is either playing on his guitar, riding his motorcycle, or admiring his pet koi fish (of which he has a lot).

Despite his appearance, he wants to grow up to be a manly guy. After his battle with Roa, he began idealizing him.
