The Comet Cometh
Today was a very special day for Acmetropolis, and many on the City Planet knew why—many except for Chase, who stood just across from the Loonatics on a stage. Everyone had gathered in Acmetropolis' central park for some sort of celebration.
"...It is why we are gathered here on this day, the one-year anniversary of the meteor's impact. Adjusting to this strange new world has been difficult for all of us." the mayor of Acmetropolis spoke as the Loonatics stood to her right, all at attention... except for Slam, who was having a hard time keeping himself awake. He would've completely dozed off if not for Lexi, who bumped him to keep him up. "Fortunately, we have had help from six extraordinary individuals, who have watched over and protected us."
"So the Loonatics have been doing this for over a year? It almost feels longer from the way they've been together." Chase noted as Duck was checking himself in a mirror while the Mayor was speaking.
"It may seem that way. But by my estimation, the mayor is correct. As that is the case, it would mean that this world is still relatively new by Advancerealm standards." Beat said.
"So then, why am I up here with them? I've only known these guys for barely a week." Chase wondered.
"Considering the villains you've helped then defeat, it wouldn't surprise me if you were being accepted as an honorary member," Beat answered.
Chase then thought back to all his encounters, with Gunnar and his Viking Legion, Professor Zane, Weathervane, and Dr. Dare. But one individual during his time did raise some doubts to him. "Yeah... villains..." He said as he thought about Zayna.
"I'm detecting contradictory feelings for Zayna. Are you concerned for her?" Beat questioned.
"Not now, Beat..." Chase quickly dodged as the mayor had finished a part of her speech.
"And now, to accept this small token of our appreciation...." the Mayor said, about to present a placard, when duck rushed in and snatched it up, thinking it was for him and him alone.
"Thank you, thank you!" Duck thanked. "You know, there are so many people in my life who have made this incredible honor possible. But enough about them, as you know there is a lot of hard work..." his egotistical speech was cut off when Chase snatched the placard from his hands before the Mayor could.
"Hands off, Duck. I know you're playing up the hero biz you got into, but I think we all know who this goes to. Ace?" Chase asked as Ace walked up, receiving the placard.
"Thanks for that, Chase. Good thing it's not every day that the structure rains down upon us?" Ace was giving a speech of his own when suddenly small red objects started falling from the sky.
"Great. A hailstorm, and me without my umbrella." Lexi noted.
"This isn't hail, these are rock pellets. They're not even from this planet." Tech analyzed as the falling rocks soon intensified, as larger ones started falling from the sky. "It's a Meteor Shower!"
"And I don't think an umbrellas gonna help," Ace added as the Meteor SHower kicked, up, making the citizens panic. "Hit it, Loonatics! We got people t'save!"
Ace, Lexi, and Duck used their ranged attacks to blast the meteors out of the air, while Slam smacked away any in range of his fists. Chase also joined in with his blaster, taking out any meteors he could.
"I thought th' weather called for only partly rocky!" Ace said as he kept zapping away with his Laser Vision.
Tech quickly used his Mangekenisis to erect a large frontal shield to protect him from the meteors.
"Rev, fetch my Neutron Cannon!" Tech ordered his speedster teammate. Rev quickly blasted back to HQ and came back in an instant with all sorts of blasters in his hands.
" You-didn't-say-whether-you-wanted-the-Diffracting-Neutron Cannon-the-Beam-Splitter-Neutron Cannon-or-the-one-that-goes-Gah-gah-gah-gah-gah-gah-gah-gah!" Rev said before Tech grabbed one of the cannons out of Revs' pile and started blasting away.
The Loonatics did everything they could to keep blasting the meteor pieces out of the sky. Lexi in particular shot a lot of meteors out of the air with back-to-back Brain Blasts, coupled with her fancy moves.
"How's that for mind over matter?" Lexi asked.
But the meteors continued to keep coming, and that's when Chase had an idea as he retracted his blaster.
"Guys...?!" Chase said before he manifested energy in his hands as he crossed them. "Get down!"
The Loonatics then all ducked as Chase slammed his fists together and created a shockwave of energy. He then swung his arms through the air, manipulating the energy to ripple through the air, reducing all the meteor pieces coming down to dust. The six heroes, the Mayor, and even the civilians present were shocked by Chase's sudden solution.
"...You couldn't have done that earlier?" Duck asked in annoyance.
"I just came up with that idea on the spot." Chase defended.
*****
After the threat of the meteors had passed, everyone went back to HQ to size up the threat they were facing.
"Okay Tech, time to make with the big words," Ace said,
"The meteor that hit Acmetropolis a year ago was only a trial run. This one is 500 times the size of the original." Tech said with a visual example, Slam being a visual aid to the original meteor, and the current one on the way.
"Kinda makes ya miss the good ol' days, huh?" Ace quipped in question.
"Oh, great! When the next one hits, everyone will have superpowers! I don't need that kinda competition." Duck complained.
"After this one hits, there won't be anyone, period." Lexi corrected.
"You're absolutely right, Lexi," Zadvia said as she called in. "Which is why you have to journey into space before that meteor hits Acmetropolis."
"Well, don't worry your wealthy little head, boss lady. We laugh at danger!" Duck said as he chuckled. "Besides, what's so scary about a little space voyage?"
"Would you like a list?" Chase asked.
"...You know what, I think I'm good," Duck said.
"Zadavia, out," Zadavia said, ending her transmission at that moment. The Loonatics had a lot of work to do.
Right after Zadavia ended her transmission, the Loonatics went around in their own ways. Ace immediately threw himself into the training simulator to get himself prepared physically. Even though the mission at hand probably wouldn't call for so much combat, he pushed himself regardless. He had to, as the Loonatics Team Leader.
"Couldn't sleep, huh?" Lexi asked in the doorway as she turned the simulator off. "I usually count sheep, but that's just me."
"I guess you can't relax because there's a lot on the line, right?" Chase asked, being with Lexi.
"This is the biggest mission we've ever been on. Gotta be ready for anything." Ace said as he twirled a Bo Staff.
"Oh, you always land on your feet," Lexi said, throwing Ace a towel as he wiped his face.
"... I've had a lotta practice," Ace replied.
Chase then remembered something, and then curiously inquired about it. "When we fought Zayna, she said you used to work behind the scenes. What'd you do, movies?"
"Yeah. And lemme tell ya, workin' in showbiz was not the kinda life I'd thought it'd be." Ace said.
****
Ace wasn't the star of the show a year ago. He was a stunt double in the film industry. He helped produce action movies and mostly got called in when it was time for the main character to fight the bad guys. But even though he was a stand-in for the lead role, Ace still did his job. Even though at times, it was difficult. For example, when the director called for the stunt double, he gave his ideas to the director on how the scene should go, which got turned down. It wasn't that Ace's ideas were good enough to make it on camera, it was because his employer wanted to do things only one way, and that was the way he wanted the scene to go... which mostly involved Ace getting beat up on set.
But now, Ace doesn't need to take orders from anyone. He's the Leader of the Loonatics now, a role he's more than happy to play. But this isn't the backlot anymore, this is about preventing another meteor from crashing into Acmetropolis. There aren't any cameras, and this isn't a movie. But when it comes to being a real-life hero, Ace Bunny is always ready to play his part.
"It's Showtime!"
****
In the HQ conference room, Lexi and Chase met up with Duck.
"Any sign of more meteor showers, Duck?" Lexi asked.
"Nope. But the fit and handsome superhero stands calm, yet focused, confident that should danger arise, he's ready to protect the lives of-!" Duck grandstanded.
"A simple "No" would've done, Duck." Lexi interrupted.
"I've only known you for at least a week, but since day one I've got why you're such a handful," Chase said. "Have you always been this way?"
"Stoic in my resolve to be the best superhero ever? Why yes," Duck said. "Seems just like yesterday..."
****
When it comes to humble origin stories, Danger Duck's is anything but. Most superheroes would start as ordinary citizens who get caught in accidents. Duck, however, started as a pool boy. Needless to say, he didn't enjoy the fact he had to clean up other people's messes after they got out of the water. He would've rather had the job of his pool's lifeguard instead.
Duck desperately wanted a way out. A chance to become so much more than what he was now. Little did he know, that "way out" would come quicker than he had anticipated. The meteor struck, and as scared as Duck was at the time, he soon came away with his powers and his big break. He's not the first person the public would choose to be one of their heroes, but he's here anyway. And whether people like it or not... everyone is coming to know the name... Danger Duck.
****
"Well, I gotta hand it to ya, Duck. You've come a long way since diaper duty." Lexi said.
"Y'got that right, toots. You gotta be fearless when you step into the spotlight like me." Duck bragged.
"I know what it's like to be in the spotlight..." Lexi assured.
*****
Even before she joined the Loonatics, Lexi had all the talent in the world to make it big. It was one year ago just before the meteor struck the planet that she was trying out for Acmetropolis University's Cheer Squad as a simple college student. When she took the stage, everyone loved her routine, except for one judge.
Fearing she'd be outshined if she was on the team, in a classic act of jealousy and self-preservation, the head cheerleader denied Lexi a spot. But once the meteor hit and its rays pierced the school gym and engulfed Lexi, there was one team that accepted her without second thoughts: the Loonatics. But there's one thing to note. On this team, Lexi doesn't cheer anybody on. She's center stage ready to take on anything thrown her way.
****
"I'm ready for this mission," Lexi confidently declared. "And I know I'll be as brave as you, Duck."
"Dare to dream, Lexi. Dare to dream." Duck replied.
It was later on the group was gathered outside on the HQs air pad, where Tech was ready to unveil the means of getting them up into space.
"So Tech, how you gonna get us up to that big rock?" Ace asked.
"Presenting... the Tech E. Coyote Space-Stream 8000!" Tech said, pulling down some drapes to reveal an impressive-looking spacecraft. It was designed similar to that of a UFO.
"Kind of retro, innit?" Duck asked.
"No," Tech said, showing some blueprints. "In fact, it's just the thing we need to destroy that meteor!"
Tech's inventions never failed the team before, so no questions were raised as they boarded the Space Stream 8000 and strapped in to blast off to the final frontier.
"Oh, if only the fellas back at the Acme Institute could see me now..." Tech reminisced.
****
Tech may be appreciated for his brilliance now, but that wasn't the case back when he was still a student at Acme Tech University. Most of his inventions not only failed to work but often exploded. Professors at the institute used to think he was a mad genius, but now they think of him as only one word, "Mad".
But Tech knew he was a genius, and that his creations worked. He was just too much of a Perfectionist for his peers to handle. Granted, the last project he ever worked on at Acme Tech had a self-destruct feature installed for extra credit, the supervising professor just happened to trigger it in his impatience to see his Senior Project in action while trying to work it himself. Nobody could truly see Tech's genius for what it was...until the meteor strike changed everything. Now his intellect is acknowledged, with every invention doing what it's supposed to do: get the job done.
****
"It'll work, I know it," Tech assured.
With a press of a button, the thrusters on the Space-Stream ignited and blasted off into the air flawlessly.
"Perfect takeoff," Tech marveled.
"Great job, Tech!" Ace complimented.
"It may be retro, but it's cool," Lexi added.
"Yeah, cool, for a flying dinner plate." Duck piped in.
"Should be a smooth ride from here," Tech assured, everyone unaware that something was coming their way.
"Chase, I'm detecting an unidentified stream of energy directly in the course of the spacecraft." Beat quickly detected.
"(Is it dangerous?)" Chase replied in thought.
"It possibly could be as it's heading right for us at a fast rate." Beat guessed as a flow of rainbow energy hit the spacecraft dead on, causing a bit of turbulence.
"Is this your idea of a smooth ride?" Duck asked before the ship suddenly had a blackout and powered down.
"Uh, Tech, why does it sound like the engines just stopped?" Ace asked.
"Uh, well that would be because... the engines just stopped," Tech answered.
"Eh...." Ace said before the six heroes started screaming as the Space Stream fell back towards the planet.
"I think I just threw up in my bill...!" Duck said as the space stream spun out of control.
"(We have to do something! Beat, any chance you could-?)" Chase started to ask.
"Link to the Space Stream 8000s software via your touch to reboot the system? Yes." Beat replied instantly, almost smug and confident-like.
"(I was gonna say help me figure out how to reboot the Space Stream manually, but that works too!)" Chase replied as he touched the control panel close to his seat. Red network lines spread out from his hands a short distance in all directions, as Beat worked her magic almost instantly. In just a few seconds, the Space Stream 8000 was back online and on course even before it went into the atmosphere.
"Powers back!" Tech realized.
"You-didn't-even-tell-me-to-do-anything-I-know-I'm-fast-but-not-that-fast!" Rev said.
"That's on me. I plugged Beat into the ship's systems and she manually rebooted it herself." Chase spoke up.
"One of these days, you're gonna have to let me study your brain so I can find out what else she's capable of," Tech said. "But for now, thanks to Beat's help, it should be smooth sailing from here on out."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. I hope this is the good smooth as opposed to the bad smooth." Duck said as the Space stream flew right into an asteroid belt.
"Once we get through the asteroid belt, we should see our target," Tech reported.
"If our target doesn't see us first," Ace said.
"Hey-you-dont-have-to-worry-about-that-Ace-because-Tech-has-plotted-a-course-that-allows-us-to-avoid-contact-with-any-large-object-and-if-anyone-can-do-that-its-my-man-Tech! And-besides-the-satisical-probability-of-an-impact-even-here-in-the-astroid-belt-is-fairly-minute-considering," Rev said before some nearby asteroids suddenly changed course and rammed into the ship.
"You wanna recheck those numbers?" Ace asked as they got rammed again, more asteroids coming in on the radar.
"And uuh, recheck why those rocks are using us as a punching bag?!" Duck added.
"Everyone into your inter-cosmic spacesuits!" Tech called.
"Do we get our choice of colors?" Lexi inquired.
"No, but it'll keep you from imploding," Tech said as he put on his suit, which was a clear layer of a spacesuit. "Voila! And it locks in freshness!"
The other five Loonatics then suited up in their spacesuits, save Chase, who didn't get one.
"Hey, how come I don't get a fancy spacesuit?" Chase said.
"Oh, sorry Chase, I only had enough for the six of us, and considering how wide Slam is..." Tech explained.
"Hey, where is Slam anyway?" Chase asked.
"He's already outside, slammin' away." Lexi checked the monitors to see indeed the big guy was already suited up and out in the black void of space, grabbing an asteroid conveniently shaped like a club.
"Fore!" Slam called before swatting away any asteroids getting close to the ship like they were baseballs, and was having a good time.
"I haven't seen Slam have this much fun since his old days in the wrestling ring," Lexi noted.
"Really? Slam, a Pro Wrestler? Huh. Guess that explains why he loves to fight as much as he loves stuffing his face." Chase said.
*****
The bright lights, the roar of the crowd, and an opponent in front of him. These were all the things Slam, or rather, "Twisted Spinner", was used to back when he competed inside the wrestling ring. He was established as a Heel, the term for villain between the ropes. His last match ever was against the fan favorite, Carlos the Conqueror. A match that was staged to have Slam lose.
Carlos was expecting Slam to follow the script and take the fall. But Slam was not having any of it. Even in the ring, he always fought to win, so he wasn't a fan of intentionally taking a dive and losing just to make someone else look good. So when Carlos suckered him into a takedown by feigning good sportsmanship, that was the last straw, and Slam took Carlos out of the ring the hard way.
It was a blessing for Slam then when the Meteor struck Acmetropolis and cut his career short. Because now, he can win against the villains that invade Acmetropolis, and there's nobody in the world that can tell him otherwise.
*****
As he was busy reminiscing, Slam was knocked off the ship by an asteroid from behind. Thankfully, the others were there to save him.
"Alright, slugger! Way to save the day." Duck praised as he and Rev shouldered him.
"Let's get him back in the ship," Ace said as everyone returned to the ship and continued onwards, and it wasn't long before they found their target.
"Meteor straight ahead." Lexi spotted it first, it being a giant, flat gray rock.
"Yeah, and it's...big!" Ace said as it knocked their ship off course for a little bit.
"Are you sure we can destroy that thing?!" Duck questioned.
"Yes. To ensure destruction before it reaches Acmetropolis, I've designed this device which will amplify Ace's laser by a full factor of... you guessed it-googol!" Tech said.
"Google as in the website?" Chase asked in confusion.
"No, Googol. It means 10 exponented to the power of 100." Beat corrected.
"Oh." Chase nodded.
Ace then lined himself up to the device, aptly named the Periscope, and prepared to fire.
"Here goes nothin'!" Ace declared, firing off his boosted Laser Vision and hitting the meteor directly.
"Whoa, Ace you did it!" Lexi praised.
"Whoa, Ace...!" Duck said before it was revealed the meteor didn't suffer so much as a scratch. "You didn't do it!"
"That blast only peeled off a layer of atmospheric dust, impossible!" Tech said.
"That's the third time something strange happened on this mission that directly interfered with our progress," Chase noted.
"Yer right, Chase. First, the saucer conked out, then those asteroids came after us, and now that hunk of rock turns out to be laser-proof." Ace counted off. "Time for Plan B."
"Next time, let's start with Plan B," Lexi said.
"We land on the meteor, plant some charges precise stress points, and escape before the big kaboom!" Ace said, revealing some flare-shaped explosives.
"Sounds like you guys better suit up," Chase said. "I dunno if I can go though, I don't have an inter-cosmic spacesuit."
"No, but you can produce an energy field around yourself similar to a spacesuit." Beat pointed out.
"Beat, is there anything you can't do?" Chase asked in mild amazement.
It was soon that the group packed up the charges.
"Okay Rev baby, you're the fastest. So, we're countin' on you to plant most of the charges." Ace said.
"You-can-count-on-me-Ace-they-don't-call-me-the-Speed-Demon-of-Acmetropolis-for-nothing. But-of-course-I-havent-always-been-the-fastest." Rev admitted.
"Wait, there was a time when you weren't as fast as you are today?" Chase asked.
"I-know-it-sounds-crazy-coming-from-me-since-I-also-talk-a-mile-a-minute-but-it's-100-percent-true. It-happend-a-long-long-long-long-long-long-long-long-long-long time ago..."
*****
For a Road Runner, Rev always seemed to come up slow. Not the best trait to have, especially when working as a delivery boy for a restaurant. The establishment Rev worked at, Quick Wrap Sandwich Shack, always guaranteed a free lunch if an order didn't come within thirty minutes. On the day of the meteor strike, Rev had to deliver a meal to a customer with 5 minutes left on the clock. While not as innovative as Tech was, Rev still found a way to make up for his lack of speed by inventing things, such as his patented rocket-skates.
Unfortunately, even with the extra boost his rocket skates gave him, he still came up short. Whether it was due to the recipient lying or if Rev was too slow, is up for debate. But what is known now is the fact that ever since the meteor hit, as a hero, Rev has been known as the fastest being on the planet. Nothing can slow him down now, and he never will as long as there's a job to do.
*****
"(Im faster now, and I cant fail.)" Rev thought. "You-wont-have-to-dock-my-pay-this-time-Cookie."
"Uh, whos Cookie?" Ace asked.
"Uh-who? I-mean-Ace." Rev corrected.
The Space Stream 8000 soon landed on the asteroid.
"Everybody, you know what to do!" Ace said.
"Is it too late for Plan C?" Duck asked as the team exited the spacecraft and then split up in different directions to place their charges on specific stress points on the asteroid.
Duck made it to his spot, checking his map to be sure.
"X Marks the Spot to the big kaboom," he said, taking out a charge. "Now, the brave space ranger precisely positions his charges. If he's off by even one micron, the entire mission will fail." he narrated dramatically.
Little did Duck know while he was being dramatic, the cosmic energy that tried to hamper the mission 3 times already had returned. This time, it overlapped the ground and caused some loose rubble to be assimilated into a large tentacle made of rock.
"Yipe!" Duck cried as he dodged the tentacle slamming down on the ground in front of him. He then dodged again as the tentacle missed another swipe. "Haha, Missed me! Hah, I'm quacking outta here!"
However, using his quantum quack to escape turned out to be a big mistake, as Duck teleported away from the tendril, he accidentally teleported out of his inter-cosmic spacesuit, which caused his body to puff up inside the vacuum, odd as it was.
"Okay, no air, bad idea...!" Duck realized, teleporting back inside his spacesuit to get some air. "Now, where was I?" he asked before the rock tendril jerked. "Oh, yeah!" he realized as he started getting slammed all over the asteroid. "Let go of my suit!"
****
Duck wasn't the only one having problems, as the others were about to as well.
"Okay, let's get these babies planted," Ace said to Slam as the big man nodded.
While they were doing that, another wave of cosmic energy swept across the ground, Ace taking notice just a bit too late.
"It's that weird cosmic energy again!" Ace said as it made the ground beneath his and Slam's feet soften, causing them to sink into the ground before it hardened again, trapping them halfway in the rock. "Don't move! I'll save ya!" Ace said as he used his laser vision to free Slam from the rubble. Slam then returned the favor by using his Tornado power to suck Ace right up out of the ground as they made their escape.
Meanwhile, Lexi flew into a cave on the asteroid where her charges would be planted. "Time to blast you out of orbit," she said while checking her map to be sure the charge was in the right place. As she was setting it up, the cosmic energy surge closed in on her position, and she just noticed it right as she set her charges timer. "What was that?!"
The energy hit the cave and caused a bunch of stalactites to fall from above. Lexi dodged the incoming stalactite and swatted one away with a well-timed kick before Brain Blasting another. Then, noticing the cave entrance was closing, the agile heroine spun into a cartwheel, escaping the trap in style as she flipped to her feet outside. "Yeah!"
*****
With Tech, the cosmic energy washed over one of the charges he was set to plant, starting its timer.
"Uh-oh! That energy field triggered the countdown!" Tech realized as he picked the armed charge up.
"Be-right-back!" Rev said as he zipped by and snatched the charge from Tech's hand.
"Rev! Get rid of that, it's set to blow!" Tech called.
"You-got-it!" Rev said, tossing it into the air. But the energy returned and intercepted the charge, redirecting it right back towards Tech.
"I gotcha, Tech!" Chase said, seeing the charge fly right back towards him and gunned it down with a quick blast of his arm cannon.
"Phew... good save, Chase," Tech said.
"But-did-you-see-that-it-stopped-in-midair-man-guys-it-was-that-strange-cosmic-energy! It-some-how-knocked-the-charge-off-course-how-do-you-explain-that-and-nice-shot-with-that-blaster-to-save-Techs-life-chase," Rev said.
"Uh...thanks?" Chase said in question, hardly understanding Rev's train of thought as the others regrouped.
"Tech, you put the boom in Kaboom." Lexi praised.
"Hey uh, Duck? Care ta join us?" Ace asked on the radio.
Duck was still getting thrashed around by the rock tendril. "I'll be right there...!"
Despite some unwillingness to help him out at first, Chase rocketed over to Duck's position without any more thought on the matter. It didn't take Chase long to find him. "Is a rock tentacle too much for you, Duck? I'll lend a hand!"
"I'll allow it just this one, techno boy! As long as you match my timing!" Duck accepted, manifesting a power orb.
"Challenge accepted!" Chase said as he summoned his blaster's arm. Duck threw his power orb right as Chase shot at the tentacle himself. The two projectiles met at the same time, which detonated the Tendril in an explosion caused by the two elements combining.
After they regrouped, knowing that the charges were about to detonate, they made a break for the Space Stream 8000 as the first one Duck planet exploded.
"The other charges are about to blow!" Tech said, the team all hoping the two of them would get back in time.
"Duck, Chase!" Ace called. Duck and Chase ran as fast as they could, reaching the Space Stream just as the charge timers zeroed out, and they all detonated.
Duck was able to get inside the Space Stream's hatch just in time, but Chase didnt make it.
"Chase, he's still outside!" Lexi said.
"I'll get in later, just DRIVE!" Chase insisted as the spacecraft took off, with Chase tailing behind it. It flew at top speed to avoid getting caught in the blasts pelting the astroid.
However, the detonations were set off closer to Chase than he expected, as he was suddenly hit hard enough that he was sent flying and crashed hard on the Space Stream's hull. It flew away at top speed as the charges did their work in blasting away at the astroid, making rubble fly everywhere.
"Get him inside before he gets crushed!" Ace said as the Loonatics quickly slipped Chase inside the Space Stream as they flew away, the Asteroid soon exploding like in a big atomizing finale.
"Chase!" Lexi said in concern as they set him down.
"You okay dere, buddy?!" Ace asked.
Chase groaned. "Did we win?"
"Yup, we sure did. It all worked!" Ace smiled.
"You say that like you're surprised," Tech said.
"Whew... great... lemme just catch my breath," Chase said as he slumped over. "(Beat, why am i more wiped out than usual?)"
"Because you took an explosive blast to the back that would have otherwise killed or mortally injured you. Luckily, the protective energy field serving as your space suit doubled as a shield that saved you from the blast." Beat explained. "You still withstood a major hit though, so try to rest your body."
"(Rest...? If I do that... won't I fall off?)" Chase asked Beat.
"You're inside the Space Stream. The Loonatics brought you in just before the Asteroid critically exploded." Beat explained.
"(Thats good...)" Chase said as he relaxed in his seat.
"Is he gonna be okay?" Lexi asked.
"He took a big hit, but he'll recover," Tech said.
"Congratulations, team. Acmetropolis is breathing a very big sigh of relief right now." Zadavia said as she appeared.
"Hey there, boss lady! Didn't think we could do it, huh?" Duck asked.
"Oh, Duck. I've always had faith in the team. Well, most of the team." Zadavia said. "That includes Chase as well."
"Yeah, he's only been with us a week, but he's sure grown some," Ace said.
"I must admit, I did not expect this much potential from an Earthrealmer. It just shows me that any realm is capable of producing heroes, not just one world in one realm."
https://youtu.be/Agy8IHPCSK4
"Yeah... it just makes ya wonder.... What other kinda heroes are out there in the big wide Realmspace...?" Ace mused
The scene swapped to Zucha who was looking towards the sky, seeing approaching beings from afar as she planted her fists together, rolling her neck with a smirk.
"Could be strong ones..." Duck mused as Zucha's scene played.
Zayna was seen twirling the USB disk in her hand, having reimplemented the groundwork for VECTRA.
"Unexpected ones..." Lexi hummed.
Another scene showed the interior of a video store, where two individuals were seen shadowed as they were in front of multiple tv screens, both their eyes glowing like chases, but in a different hue.
"Some of them could be great navigators..." Tech said as Slam agreed with a grunt and nod.
Another scene showed a group of four adventurers, the leader having a large sword slung over his shoulder, joined by a dragon tank, a mage, and a demon monk cleric as they all looked to the horizon.
"Or-maybe-they-could-in-a-big-group-like-us! Only-really-really-really-strong!" Rev suggested.
Another scene showed a trio of hellhounds battling their way out of hell, looking like incarnations of The Hellsinger, Dante, and Doomguy.
"And perhaps even acquaintances of Chase from his life in Earthrealm reincarnated anew." Zadavia said.
Another scene showed a demonic landscape, where a young man looking like an armored ninja running across the buildings of a technologically advanced city.
"Or maybe even a story of an underdog kind, maybe. Or one we don't even know at all." Ace hummed.
"Boy, when you think about it... it's dizzying when you consider all those possibilities!" Duck exclaimed.
"Whatever the case, the mission may be accomplished, but this whole thing's got me thinkin'." Ace pondered. "Whats th' whole story behind Chase, and why did he come to us first? And what was with that weird cosmic energy? There's somethin' big goin' on... somethin' really, REALLY big."
Meanwhile, in the deepest recesses of space, a ship passed by a planet. Inside was the man responsible for the asteroid attack. He was a man who was half-encased in cybernetic parts, with his purple and white hair parted down the left side of his face, and his right side cybernetic. And he was radiating Cosmic energy, which confirmed he was its source.
"Twice I had attempted to destroy Acmetropolis. The first time, I had misjudged the meteors effect. The second attempt was just demolished by those Pacme Heroes... and their accomplice." he said, viewing Chase. "There is something special about that Earthrealmer. I will take what secrets he hides for myself, and then... the third time? The third time will be the charm." he declared as he laughed.
