Loonatics on Ice
Previously on Legend of 7...
Chase Ryder, a Social Outcast in his society, has suddenly found himself thrust into a conflict he never imagined. A normal day had turned chaotic quickly, when he found himself the target of 3 Androids, on a mission to track him down, kill him, and extract something they deemed important. A Hyper-cognitive AI implanted in his brain, Designation: Beat.
Pushed to the Arctic and greatly outnumbered, Chase soon found assistance in a truly strong warrior that he summoned from somewhere else entirely, courtesy of Beat's abilities. She massively turned the tide, especially when she went all out... but it caused him to be sent flying, into a rift leading to parts unknown. All Chase remembered before he faded away, was ice, the girl's voice, and falling.
Now the question remains... where is Chase now?
*****
The Present time...
A singular planet, orbited by one moon, sat in the vast darkness of Space, millions of lights lit up upon its surface. This was not Earth at all. It was another planet entirely, in another time, and another place.
It is the year 2772, and this is the City Planet of Acmetropolis. A metropolis that spread over the entirety of the planet's surface itself. And right now, this planet is in the midst of a massive heat wave, the core temperature on the technologically advanced planet itself being 104 degrees, and rising with each passing second, as the citizens were doing whatever they could to stay cool.
"This is THE hottest year in the history of Acmetropolis! It's triple digits, and climbing! Can anything cool this heatwave off?" A newscaster asked.
Right as the newscaster asked that, rising from the waters near one of the city districts came a truly massive iceberg. It churned up the sea as it started pressing itself into the city streets past the ocean, causing civilians to panic as it destroyed everything in its path, highways, railroads, paved streets, and even entire skyscrapers.
It soon stopped dead center in its destruction, nestling inside the destroyed burg. Soon afterward, from the glacier itself, a trail of ice started spreading over the city itself, freezing everything over, including the civilians trying to flee from it. It wasn't long before the entire area was covered in ice and spreading, the temperature quickly dropping 30 below fast.
Meanwhile....
As the ice was spreading and the temperature was dropping, residents on the 134th floor of a tall tower were minding their own business as the cold was creeping in.
"Brrrr! Now that is cold!" a male voice came. Inside the spherical residency atop the tower, an anthropomorphic Coyote wearing a black and light green uniform with different buttons to his bodysuit, lime eyes, and broken coyote ears was eating a particularly frozen slice of pizza. He then looked at another individual with him, an anthropomorphic Road Runner who had the same uniform as the Coyote, only his color in addition to black was red, and he had blue eyes. "Where'd you get it? Iceland?"
"Actually... no," the Road Runner replied. "I-just-picked-it-up-at-a-pizza-joint-downtown-which-I-must-say-is-abnormally-cold-for-this-time-of-year-but-if-you-really-like-the-pizza-they-have-on-ice-then-I-could-go-back-and-get-some-and-be-back-in-4.2-seconds-but-of-course-that's-just-an-estimation-because-you-never-know-about-traffic," he added, talking at a pace so fast it was hard to understand while zipping back and forth around the Coyote, who proceeded to stop the formers gabbing by stuffing the Road Runners face with the frozen slice of pizza.
"That was one of those questions that... didn't require an answer." the Coyote said whilst tapping the rest of the frozen pie. He then looked to his right to see an anthropomorphic male rabbit sporting a yellow accented uniform. "Hey, Ace....?" he called over to the rabbit, who was meditating on a hovering seat with a uniquely shaped sword in hand.
The Rabbit, identified as Ace, opened his eyes and looked to his cohort. "On it, Tech." he smiled before his eyes glowed and blasted a heated laser at the pizza in the box, instantly heating it right up.
"Extra crispy," the Coyote known as Tech smiled in satisfaction. "Pizza, Duck?"
This question was aimed at an anthropomorphic duck with an orange-accented uniform and a mohawk, who was admiring himself in a mirror while also wearing a cape around his neck.
"Are you kidding? I've already had my protein shake." Duck replied as he was posing. "It's vitally important to maintain a superhero physique because you can't be flabby when you're... The Duckinator!" he declared, flexing as he did so.
"Yesterday, y'were callin' yourself 'Super-Duper Duck'," Ace recalled smugly.
"Yeah, well, it wasn't quite rolling off the tongue, besides! I need a name that'll fit on the costume..." Duck said.
"How about....er, Duck?" Ace asked sarcastically.
"...Very funny." Duck gave a sarcastic reply.
Just then, one of the automatic doors slid open. Rhythmically dancing her way inside while listening to a very upbeat rock song was another anthropomorphic rabbit, this one being female. She was easy on the eyes, athletically slim and sporting a pink accented uniform, naturally blonde hair compared to the pink all over her sticking down to her left side, almost covering up one of her green eyes. Her long ears were tied together by a green ribbon, the former of which she took her headphones out of.
"Tech, didja order more than one pie?" the girl asked.
"No, why?" Tech replied as he was eating a hot slice of Pizza.
"Cause Slam is in the house." the female would reply as ears picked up commotion coming from another door.
Everyone was expecting whoever this "Slam" was, to come barging in, but once they heard rapid grunts coming from another door, which soon opened, through a burst of cold air, everyone saw "Slam" entering, who was a large, burly anthropomorphic Tasmanian Devil with red eyes and wearing a purple accented uniform. He clearly was outside, because he was shivering and almost frozen solid.
The other residents looked surprised by this, not knowing what was going on at first. But answers would soon be coming to them as after an alarm of sorts, a screen came on. In a column of digitality, there came a woman who was completely yellow as her hair rose into the air, her eyes white, surrounded by a pillar of rainbow energy. Was she a deity, or something else?
"Loonatics, we have a problem," she said.
"Y'got that right Zadavia," Ace said, rubbing a fogged-up window to get a better look outside, finally seeing the trouble. "I'd say we've got a serious problem."

This is not the world you know. Acmetropolis resides in another time and another place entirely. In this futuristic world, a meteor struck the city planet, shifting the position of its axis off course and unleashing supernatural forces that have created a different kind of hero.
Who are they? They are six young heroes gathered together by the mysterious Zadavia to protect Acmetropolis from whatever evil forces may harm it. Ace Bunny, Lexi Bunny, Danger Duck (name yet to be coined), Slam Tasmanian, Tech E. Coyote, and Rev Runner. Together they are... the Loonatics.
*****
Once the threat was fully realized, the six heroes gathered together at a round table.
"Eh, whats up, Zadavia? Certainly not the temperature." Ace pointed out, as everyone got a visual on the situation outside.
"So far, nobody can figure out where this iceberg came from," Zadavia replied, her image in the center of the table. "I dont have to tell you what will happen if the temperature keeps dropping."
"I knew it, we're gonna lose cable again," Duck complained.
"...Okay, maybe I DO have to tell you." Zadavia raised an eyebrow at Duck, who winced. "The entire planet could be facing a new ice age."
"Oh, great," Lexi groaned. "Those winter sweaters make me look chubbo."
"When the meteor hit earth, your superpowers weren't the only after-effect. This iceberg could be related." Zadavia explained.
"I think we can handle one iceberg," Ace confidently assured.
"Acmetropolis is counting on you to handle this," Zadavia said. "Zadavia, out." she then disappeared from view.
"When she goes out, where does she go? The Movies?" Lexi asked.
"Tech, we'll need some toys t'melt this ice cube," Ace said to tech.
"Excuse me Chief, they're not toys," Tech corrected. "They're precision-handcrafted alloy instruments."
"Well take those too," Ace replied. "But first, the toys."
The group soon was in the weapons lab, where Tech gave each of his five teammates small devices.
"The Retrofire Master-Blaster," Tech introduced as he gave one to Rev. "Hold it in the palm of your hand, squeeze twice, and..."
As Rev followed Tech's instructions accurately, the small device in his hand transformed into a very sizable arm-fitted energy blaster. "Cool!" the road runner would acknowledge, aiming it for effect.
Slam was having difficulty understanding how the device worked. As he fumbled around with it, he accidentally dropped it, causing him to step on the Master Blaster which made it transform on his left leg, lifting him a good few feet in the air. It soon powered on, which made Slam grunt as if to say 'uh-oh', as the blaster went off, sending him flying around the room.
"Uncurl your toes, uncurl your toes!" Tech called to the big guy. Slam acknowledged and did just that, the Master Blaster deactivating.
Slam fell to the ground, but he was relatively okay, and otherwise impressed with Tech's weapon of choice to deal with the ice, as were the others.
"Y'gotta love the toys!" Lexi said to Ace.
"Time t'crush some ice," Ace smirked. "Lets Jet!"
*****
The team of six soon exited their HQ, flying out on Jetpack that we're also designed by Tech. For his part, Rev didn't need one, as he was somehow flying on his own, likely due to the application of his powers. It wasn't long before they got a look at the iceberg in all its massiveness.
"Would-you-look-at-that-thing-its-gotta-be-the-biggest-iceberg-I've-ever-seen-and-I've-seen-some-doozies-do-you-think-we-should've-put-some-more-juice-in-the-blasters-like-not-that-i-doubt-your-expertise-or-anything-but-that-is-ONE-giant-!" Rev went off.
"Rev! Watch where yer talkin'!" Ace warned, Rev not watching where he was going while he was speaking so fast.
"Whoa!" Rev realized as he pulled up. He almost became a frozen bird on ice.
"Okay, what wiseguy moved Mount Everest?" Tech asked.
"Alright, snow cones for everyone! Set blasters on thaw!" Ace ordered. The six heroes moved to different positions around the iceberg and activated their blasters, immediately firing on their target. But as powerful as the beams were together, they weren't even melting the ice, and Ace was quick to notice. "No dice... okay, ceasefire! Ceasefire!" he called out as everyone stopped.
"How could my retrofire master blasters not work?" Tech asked in disbelief his invention didn't do the job.
"No worries, Tech. There's always Plan B." Ace assured as everyone landed on the ground. "Yer on, Slam buddy!"
Slam grunted in acknowledgment, as he was "Plan B". He suddenly spun up into a living tornado charged with lightning. He then surged around the giant iceberg in a frenzy, racing around it with incredible speed. At the rate he went, he generated enough friction and heat to melt the whole thing.
"Whew, what did this guy have for breakfast, huh?" Ace asked, as the temperature began climbing back up thanks to Slam's efforts, and the citizens were thawing out due to the heat too.
Duck however scoffed at the feat. "Glorified Zamboni. Chipping ice isn't a superpower, Quacking is a superpower! Observe!"
Duck then showed off his "Quantum Quack" ability, which enabled him to teleport short distances, disappearing in a burst of energy. He then reappeared... just not exactly where he wanted to be, which was trapped inside the ice.
"...You can stop observing now," Duck said in embarrassment. Thankfully he wouldn't be in that position for long, as slam quickly thawed him out after another pass. The big man's efforts soon bore fruit, as almost all of the ice was soon melted into water, and the temperature readout depicted a nice warm 78 degrees Fahrenheit.
"Good guys 1, Mother Nature nothin'!" Ace quipped, slam agreeing even though he was tired out for a bit, but he looked like he enjoyed it.
"Hold on, Ace," Lexi said, suddenly picking up some sounds using her Supersonic Hearing. "Mother Nature might be done, but I'm picking something up."
"Perhaps a high-pitched dog whistle?" Duck remarked.
Suddenly, the iceberg started to crack from both a combination of Slam's actions, and something else. It soon burst apart, and as it gave way, something fell from the ice at the Six Heroes' feet....it was an unconscious, yet still alive, Chase Ryder!
"Whoa-whos-this-guy-where'd-he-come-from-wait-did-he-fall-out-of-the-iceberg-theres-no-way-he-was-frozen-in-there-the-whole-time-right?" Rev asked.
"He fell outta the thing while it was meltin' so I'd say yes," Ace said. "But what was he doin' in there?"
"He's not dead, that's for sure. I've got a pulse." Lexi said, listening to his heartbeat with her hearing.
"You mean he's still alive?!" Duck asked in disbelief.
Chase groaned as he started to stir.
"Dat answer yer question, duck?" Ace asked as Chase opened his eyes slowly, the 18-year-old in black vision coming to the six heroes. "Rise and shine, sleepyhead." he heard Ace quip.
"...Am I still unconscious?" Chase grogily asked, not believing the sight he was seeing.
"Nope, and you definitely ain't dreamin'," Ace said as he helped the young man up. "You don't look like you're from around here, pal. How'd ya end up encased in a giant block of ice there?"
"Uh... I don't know. Everything's kinda hazy. All I remember is I was fighting in the Arctic and then something blew me into the ice. The next thing I knew I was falling, and I heard someone's voice and then... I blacked out." Chase explained.
"Your memory must be suffering from being frozen. Give it some time, it'll wear off eventually." Tech said.
"I gotta say Lex, if one person was all you picked up with those ears of yours, you must be slipping." Duck snarked.
"It wasn't just him, Duck," Lexi remarked. "What I picked up wasn't this guy."
The rest of the iceberg then gave way, soon revealing to everyone a giant mechanical ship.
"I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it was that?" Chase asked.
A hatch at the stern of the ship then opened, and a squad of large robotic warriors exited the vessel and landed before the seven.
"Boy, are you guys lost?" Ace said before another robot came up front. He had the most intimidating visage, with a white skull helmet and spikes, and his armor was blue. "What's up, doc?" Ace asked the lead bot.
"I am Gunnar." the lead robot announcer.
"Gonna what? Go to a Viking Convention at the Civic Center?" Ace quipped.
"No! We are here to take over your world!" Gunnar replied.
"Well, that wasn't obvious at all..." Chase said. "You sure that's a good idea? I'm pretty sure these guys with me have it in their heads that their planet is off limits."
"Rest assured, human. We will conquer this world by any means necessary!" Gunnar declared.
"No y'wont." Ace interrupted.
"Yes, we will!" Gunnar replied.
"No, you won't!
"Yes, we will!"
"Yes, you will!" Ace suddenly flipped the conversation.
"No, we won't conquer your world!" Gunnar suddenly said, Ace, throwing him off.
"Have it your way," Ace smirked.
"(Huh, that bit of misdirection sounds familiar...)" Chase thought.
"Oooh, I will enjoy crushing you, Rabbit!" Gunnar shouted, clearly ticked off as he raised his sword. Ace dodged out of the way before he could strike, so Gunnar instead aimed for Chase.
"Hey, look out!" Ace called to chase who was still thinking.
"Ah, crap!" Chase realized and raised his hand, and surprisingly to Ace and the other Loonatic's shock, he blocked it with his hand. A familiar sight indeed for chase, as the red in his clothes suddenly reappeared.
"What's this?!" Gunnar asked, equally taken aback as Chase's eyes turned light red to cap off the change, which could only mean one thing...
"Hello, Chase." Beat greeted, fully reactivating herself inside Chase's brain as Chase shoved Gunnar's sword away with a burst of red energy, making the 10-ft-tall robo Viking stumble backward.
"Holy cow, how'd you do that?!" Duck asked.
"Uh, it's a long story..." Chase admitted.
"You will sorely regret that, human!" Gunnar declared, recovering as he tried to attack Chase again, but Ace intervened, drawing his sword and clashing blades with the viking.
"Hey, I'm the one y'wanted crushed first, remember?" Ace quipped as they engaged in a fearsome sword duel. Despite the size difference, Ace was able to hold his own and then some, coming to a stalemate as he regrouped with his team. "I can keep this up all day."
"Taste my cold steel!" Gunnar declared, pressing a button on his sword that enabled it to be charged with some kind of energy as he chuckled. "Time to chill out, BUNNY!" he declared, firing a blast of energy from his sword at the group.
"I don't think so!" Ace said as he blessed his laser beam from his eyes that met the beam dead on, resulting in a beam struggle.
"Whoa, how are you doing that?!" Chase in turn asked.
"Long story...!" Ace grunted the same reply Chase gave.
"He appears to be exhibiting enhanced optical powers, which include Heat Vision." Beat noticed.
"I noticed!" Chase said.
"Who are you talking to?" Lexi asked.
"Hammers of Frost!" one of Gunnar's warriors called out before the troop's weapons were charged with the same energy their leader was using before Chase could explain. The hammer troops slammed their weapons on the ground, freezing the ground below Ace's feet causing him to slip during his struggle.
"Ace!" Lexi said as his teammates supported them, Chase coming to their side.
"What's up with these guys?" Chase asked.
"Their weapons seem to be charged with a Sub-Zero hypothermal liquid solidification energy that when fired can freeze-!" Tech tried to explain.
"Yeah, I got that part figured out!" Ace interrupted.
"Warning, more cryogenic attacks incoming." Beat alerted Chase.
The other Vikings then fired their weapons, and Chase instinctively fired off his thrusters to evade. The Loonatics weren't so lucky, the six of them all being frozen together.
"Close call, thanks Beat! I did not wanna be frozen again!" Chase said.
"Neither did I, the cold is a pain on my processors," Beat replied.
"We missed the human!" one of the Vikings said.
"Ignore him, he is of no threat to us. Let's put this city on Ice!" Gunnar said as the Vikings ran ahead, their leader laughing as they did so. This left Chase with the frozen hero team, and figuring out a way to get them out.
"Any ideas on how to get our new friends out?" Chase asked.
"Searching for possible solutions to safely free new acquaintances without further harm to-" Beat said before Duck suddenly teleported out of the ice block and in front of their faces, shivering as he did so. "-never mind."
"Okay! I'm out... I'm out? And I'm safe, which is of number one importance." Duck said.
"Really? You're of number one importance? How about the rest of your team?" Chase asked.
"I was getting to that, don't rush me. " Duck said, walking over to the ice block and knocking on it. "Hello? You still in there?" duck asked, with no response. "Well, I think that puts me in charge!" he said to himself and Chase.
Before the young man could respond, the mini-iceberg started shaking before it burst apart, sending Duck flying. Slam had used his power to shatter the ice, freeing the rest of the team.
"N-n-n-nice work, Slam." Ace shivered, Slam grunting with a chuckle.
"Me or the new guy would've busted you out if you gave us time to think!" Duck butted in.
"We had seconds, not hours, Duck." Ace replied as the team got moving.
"...I liked you better as a snow bunny," Duck admitted as they walked down the frozen street.
"It didn't take these guys long to get settled in," Chase said.
"Yeah, I love what they've done t'the place," Ace added.
"Snowdrifts are very trendy this year." Lexi pointed out.
Just then, they all heard a ring.
"Huh? What's that?" Chase asked.
"Sounds like Zadavia's ring," Ace said as they looked around, the pinging coming from a nearby telemonitor as Lexi pressed a button.
"Hello?" Lexi answered as the screen came on, Chase getting his first look at Zadavia.
"I guess you know by now that these are no ordinary Vikings," Zadavia said.
"Yeah, they didn't even sound Scandinavian," Ace replied.
"I believe the iceberg slipped through one of the Interdimensional portals that opened up after the Meteor hit," Zadavia explained. "These Mutant Techno-Vikings must have been frozen inside during an ice storm in their own dimension, but now that they are here in Acmetropolis and have been released...."
"They can freeze and paralyze the world so that it's easy for them to take over!" Ace said.
"Interdimensional portals?" Chase recalled, finding that familiar. "Yeah... that's right! I fell through an interdimensional portal in the middle of that fight!"
"And who might you be?" Zadavia asked, noticing Chase after he spoke.
"Uh, I guess I'm just a guy who got caught up in this whole frozen city thing due to an accident." Chase assumed.
"He was stashed away in the Iceberg with those Vikings. He ain't from around here, were thinkin'." Ace said.
"No, he certainly is not. We'll discuss this later. Right now, you have bigger problems." Zadavia said as something was fired off in the distance.
"Incoming projectile closing fast," Beat warned too late as a ball of ice hit them dead center. Luckily, they were still alive.
"You could've warned me a bit faster?" Chase groaned.
"I gave you sufficient time to react." the AI defended as the Loonatics recovered.
"I didn't get the last part, what are the bigger problems?" Duck inquired. His answer would come in the form of the Vikings ship coming out from some fog and blasting another ball of ice from the figure heads mouth. Everyone dodged out of the way, Duck himself Quacking away just in time before impact. The ship then started blasting more ice balls all over the city, freezing more areas.
"If their trail leads into the city, what're they doing back on their boat?" Lexi questioned.
"Maybe you guys should go ask them yourselves," Chase suggested.
"I like the way you're thinkin', pal. Let's jet!" Ace said.
"Right!" Duck cut in front and activated his jetpack. "Ready, Team?! One, two...!" upon entering his boosters, Ducks jetpack did not go with a boost, but with a sputter. "Three...?"
"Looks like your jetpacks got fried when Gunnar and his goons put you on ice earlier." Chase noticed, analyzing the damages via Beats scanning.
"No worries. Got a backup plan, Tech?" Ace asked the Coyote.
"Glad you asked," Tech answered, pressing a button on a remote, which called six hi-tech motorcycles to the scene.
"Whoa, awesome!" Chase said in awe as Ace jumped on one of them putting on a helmet.
"Let's show these Vikings how t'fly!" Ace said as he revved up and drove off, the other Loonatics following suit. Once the bikes ran over the edge into the harbor, they automatically transformed into hoverbikes, letting them rocket at the ship.
"Those are some sweet rides..." Chase said.
"Aren't you going to join them?" Beat asked.
"Me? I really don't know if it's right to rain on their parade. Their heroes and it's their city to protect-" Chase said.
"You want to be a hero, don't you?" Beat asked. "See what it is like without so much intensity."
Chase thought about it for a while, as before being caught up in all this, he only unconsciously shared his thoughts of being a hero. And everyone around him looks at him for it. They thought him weird. But here he was, in the presence of real heroes. Would it be worth it...?
"Okay, I'll give it a try. Won't know until I do it, right?" Chase asked.
"That's the spirit." Beat encouraged as she helped Chase manifest his thrusters. "As the bunny said... let's jet."
Chase was then boosted into the air and joined the Loonatics as they advanced on the skiff.
"The bunny is back," one of the Vikings aboard said. The figurehead then started opening fire again, trying to blast the heroes with balls of ice. The seven dodged in all directions, Duck narrowly avoiding one, but getting sent into a spinout all the same. One more was headed his way, but he was saved due to a little assistance from Lexi, who zapped it with a burst of energy conducted through her ears.
Duck recovered and flew to Lexi's side. "Daredevil Duck, thanks you." he saluted before driving off.
"Pick a name already, woudja?!" Lexi asked in annoyance.
The group continued to evade and deflect the ice balls sent their way, Slam smashing them aside while Chase blasted them with his arm cannon.
"How much longer can they keep this up?!" Chase asked in annoyance.
"Not for much longer. Analysis of the skiffs fire rate shows they'll run out of ammunition in 3...2...1..." Beat counted down until after a rapid-fire burst, the figurehead stopped firing.
"They're wide open!" Chase called.
"Let the fun begin!" Ace acknowledged. "Loonatics, unite!"
The Six heroes veered away from the skiff as Chase followed them, wondering what the heck they were doing.
"Look at the cowards run!" one Viking laughed.
"With them gone, no one can stop us!" another added.
But that claim would be proven false, as coming out from the fog, came the group again, this time on a speedboat built to hold all seven of them, likely merged from their motorcycles.
Chase was in complete amazement as he landed on the boat.
"Tech, right? This boat is... it came from... i mean, wow!" Chase marveled.
"Yup, he's outdone himself!" Ace affirmed.
"You both can say it, I'm a genius," Tech smirked.
"Launch the torpedo!" Ace commanded. Tech did so, pressing a button on the cockpit panel that launched a sizable torpedo straight toward the skiff.
"So long, ice geeks! Hah!" Duck taunted, but the skiff suddenly propelled itself into the air via thrusters. Slam was the first one to catch it, grunting as he pointed at the skiff tanking flight.
"Yeah, Slam. We didn't see that one comin'!" Ace said.
"Neither did I, whos ever heard of Flying Vikings?" Chase asked.
"They won't be flying for long," Tech assured, Ace smiling at that notion. With a quick press of another button, the ship Tech was piloting took to the air itself, flying just above the skiff.
"Tech, take 'em out!" Ace said.
"Engaging disironic destabilizing gravity disks!" Tech said, pressing a few buttons, but nothing happened. "Somethings wrong with the launch mechanism, it won't respond!" he said, seeing as how the launch mechanism was frozen.
"Take over, Slam!" Ace instructed as the big man used his brute strength to pry the disks loose and toss them over the side.
"Anchors away!" Lexi announced as the gravity dicks hit their mark, exploding all over the ship and causing the skiff to come crashing down into the water.
"I love those 'splosions!" Ace declared, Slam agreeing in his own way.
The seven of them then convened on the broken ship, inspecting the damages.
"With their ship down, d'you think the big freeze is over, tech?" Ace asked.
Tech inspected one of the powered-down Vikings, picking up its head. "All their power seems to come from the horns on these helmets."
"Anyone else on board, Rev?" Ace inquired of the team speedster, who zipped around the ship to take a look.
"Well-lets-have-a-look-all-clear-fort-all-clear-aft-starboard-port-bow-not-in-the-viking-district-and-no-spitwads," Rev replied, shaking his head.
"So, where'd they all go?" Lexi asked.
"First we see 'em, now we don't!" Ace said.
"Misdirection. They used their skiff to distract you guys so they could get to their real target." Chase said. "Which, I'm not exactly sure what it is..."
"Would you like me to track their cryogenic energy signature to pinpoint their location?" Beat piped in.
"You can do that?" Chase asked.
"Of course, I can," Beat replied with a minute sense of pride.
"Well, what're you waiting for?" Chase asked, confusing the Loonatics as Beat began her search, Chase still being the only one to hear her.
"Is it me, or is this guy a few screws loose?" Duck asked his teammates.
Beat's search soon ended. "Got 'em! Gunnars headed right for this power center deep in the city."
"That's the Planetary Power Grid!" Lexi realized.
"That must've been what Zadavia was tryin' t'tell us." Ace realized.
"Not to alarm anybody, but if they freeze the city's power core..." Tech started.
"Then the whole planet will have one bad case of frostbite." Lexi finished.
*****
The Loonatics soon raced to where Gunnar and his men were on their hovercycles, the power in the city already going out en masse. Chase did his best to keep up, but he was falling behind a little.
At the Planetary Power Core, the Ice Vikings were freezing over the grid with maximum ice power. It seemed like nothing could stop them, but then, suddenly...
"Eh... whats up, hornheads?" Ace's voice came from the entranceway as all the Loonatics stood there, interrupting their process.,
"Freeze them!" Gunnar ordered.
"You picked the wrong planet to invade, pally," Ace said seriously as his eyes glowed.
And with that, the Loonatics sprung into action. Ace took the early initiative and leaped over a Viking looking to strike first, doing a multi flip before landing behind it.
Lexi meanwhile engaged another head-on. "Come on, you overgrown trash can! Show me what'cha got!" the Viking charged in, but Lexi didn't allow it to get close as she blasted it straight away with another Psionic Bolt, sending it down.
Duck meanwhile was backing away from two more Vikings, before he suddenly Quacked out of their sight. He then Quacked back in and tackled the closet kicking to the ground, quacking out again and making his mate freeze him. "C'mon, c'mon! How hard is it to freeze-dry a duck?" Duck asked as he threw two orbs of some kind, blinding two more Vikings and making them crash into each other.
In all the fighting, Tech and Ace soon went back to back.
"Listen Tech, we need to turn the tables, and make things hot!" Ace said.
"I'll reprogram them, just keep 'em' busy!" Tech instructed as they both dodged incoming attacks. Ace then knocked down one of the attacking Vikings with a flying kick, Tech recovering its severed head for his work.
"Get 'em to use their freezing powers!" Ace called.
Lexi was busy dogging ice herself as Ace gave that order, leaping over every blast. "Sorry, nope, 'fraid not, your turn Slam!" at that, Slam then growled at Gunnar.
"You dare?!" the Viking leader asked as both he and Slam charged at one another, Slam spinning into him in Tornado Mode and clashing his fist with Gunnar's sword. Slam fought his hardest, but he was overpowered and blasted back.
"I gotcha, big guy!" Chase said as he arrived on the scene and caught Slam, though this was a bad idea as he ended up being smooshed against a wall, slam still breaking his impact. "Ow, that was a bad idea...!" he groaned as he recovered. While he did, he noticed that Tech was busy welding the severed Viking head to be reprogrammed, and Ace was surrounded.
"Tech, in position! Please tell me yer almost ready!" Ace asked.
"You can't rush brilliance," Tech responded.
"No, but y'can give it a swift kick in the can!" Ace remarked leaping into the air. "One Viking bites the ice! And another!" He blasted one Viking with his laser vision and then punched out the other. But this left him wide open for Gunnar to attack.
"I've had enough of you, BUNNY!" Gunnar declared, going for a killing stroke.
"Hey, Rustbucket!" Chase called, getting Gunnar's attention, as he had his Cannon arm equipped and fully charged. "You need to learn to chill out!" he fired a Charge shot which hit the Viking leader dead on, and it was powerful enough to knock him off his feet and right into the power core.
"Got it, Ace!" Tech said at that moment in time as the Viking head's temperature inverted, shifting from cold to hot as the energy emitted from it was sent right into Gunnar, which coursed into the power core. The energy was then sent to all the other Vikings in the vicinity, and consequently back to tech, as he felt the full force of the energy as it was being conducted. While he was being zapped, the heat from the reprogrammed Vikings restarted the power core, lighting the city back up.
"We did it, it worked!" Ace said as the city fully powered on and all the Techno-Vikings shut down.
"Planetary energy back to full capacity. All Techno Vikings subdued." Beat reported.
"In other words, mission accomplished?" Chase asked.
"Indeed. Though your timely remarks need work." Beat critiqued.
"If that's my only error, I'd say this was a success," Chase said.
"Aw, and I was just about to let 'em' have it..." Duck groaned.
"Better luck next time," Chase said. "Hey, what happened to Tech?"
"Talk about taking one for the team..." Both Duck and Chase heard tech groan as the former lifted a Viking helmet.
"Tech?" Duck asked, finding tech reduced to a pile of ashes. But similar to another Coyote who made things, he'd be fine shortly.

Later....
The Loonatics had returned to their HQ, bringing Chase with them. Chase was pretty impressed by the setup, as he walked around while the other Loonatics did their thing. Ace was meditating, Tech and Lexi were chilling, and Duck was posing while trying to come up with a sticking superhero name.
"Hey, you hungry?" Tech asked Chase, as he had some pizza still available.
"Oh, I really don't think..." Chase started to say.
"You haven't eaten anything since the Android Attack. Just take a slice." Beat said, analyzing Chase's body functions.
"Sure, I'll take a slice." Chase changed his answer.
Tech then activated an automatic slicing device that sliced up the pie on the table into neat slices. Tech grabbed a slice and ate it, but just before Chase could grab a slice, the scent of the hot pizza wafted into the vents and reached the nose of a certain hungry glutton.
"Pizza?" Slam could be heard from the vents. He fastly grunted before crashing into the room to get some of that hot cheese and goddess. "PIZZA!" he called out, racing for the box, Chase in his way.
Chase braised himself for another Slam-sized impact, but Tech flung the slicing device at the big man and snapped his jaw shut, stopping him cold.
"Ah-ah-ah, Slam." Tech denied. "At least wait for our guest to have his fill." slam grunted in disappointment at that.
"Loonatics," Zadavia said as she appeared. "I just had to personally say to each and every one of you: job well done. The ice age is averted, the Mutant Techno Vikings are destroyed, and Acmetropolis is safe. Thanks to you, Ace, Rev, Lexi, Slam, Tech... and even our surprise guest."
Chase perked up at the fact Zadavia mentioned him, Duck completely overlooked, the latter surprised at this.
"Uh, thanks, Ms. Zadavia, but compared to these guys, I didn't do much," Chase said.
"You intervened on Ace's behalf and saved him from a timely situation." Zadavia reminded him.
"I coulda handled that bucket o' bolts myself, but yeah, that was a heck of a shot y'made." Ace said. "Your quippin needs work though."
"I noticed..." Chase said. "Now that i have the chance to ask this, where am i? You keep mentioning Acmetropolis. This is earth right? I was frozen in ice, so..."
"No, you werent on ice for a few decades." Tech interrupted.
"Tech is correct. We were transferred through an interdimensional rift and came to this Realm by accident." Beat added.
"Realm?" Chase asked.
"Yes, Chase Ryder. You have crossed over from the realm you have lived in all your life, into ours." Zadavia said. "The world you know is much bigger than you realize. The Earth you come from is surrounded by 6 distinct realms, each with its own worlds. We of Acmetropolis live in Advancerealm, a realm whose worlds are all technologically advanced, and far into the future."
"No way... I'm actually in another dimension entirely?" Chase asked.
"Indeed, you are. And i suspect you being brought to us is no mere coincidence. Tell me, how did you end up in the same place as Gunnar's legion?" Zadavia said.
Chase then explained his story, or what he could remember of it. Beat being implanted in his brain, being attacked by the Androids, and fell through the dimensional rift that brought him here in the Arctic. Zadavia then surmised that because he was pulled through with Ice, he was caught up in Gunnar's invasion and frozen in the ice for some time before the Loonatics freed him.
"Your story is hard not to believe," Zadavia said.
"I know. But now that that whole invasion is done, what do I do now?" Chase asked.
"If you don't mind, I have a proposition for you," Zadavia said. "You show interesting potential. Why not stay with the Loonatics for a while so we can see the full extent of your abilities? And see for ourselves if you can be a hero yourself?"
"Yeah, we can teach ya how t' handle all that tech comin' outta you," Ace said.
"I'll admit, I'd love to analyze your brain and see for myself just what makes Beat tick," Tech said.
"And-ask-what-his-earth-is-like-hey-Chase-have-they-invented-any-cool-stuff-like-we-have-now-like-Techs-weapons-or-vechiles-i-bet-your-earth-is-super-cool," Rev said.
"Uh... we have Self-driving cars and Smartphones," Chase replied, barely making out a thing of what Rev said.
"Still so Primitive..." Tech sighed in disappointment.
"Then the decision is all but unanimous. I leave this young man in your care, Loonatics. Good work team, Zadavia out." Zadavia said as she disappeared.
"That's it? How could she forget me? I was standing right here!" Duck protested.
"Don't worry about it Duck, you were fantastic," Lexi said.
"Yeah, heroic," Ace said sarcastically.
"Nobody disrespects this duck!" Duck said as he shoved off Lexi's hand and prepared to call Zadavia back, but Chase grabbed him.
"I wouldn't do that. Unless you wanna get shut down." Chase said. "Trust me, you don't wanna put yourself in Danger of getting kicked off your own team, Duck."
"Yeah, well I won't stand for-!" Duck said before he heard what Chase said, most specifically the danger and duck parts. "Wait... what did you just say?"
"I said you don't wanna put yourself in danger of getting kicked out of your own team," Chase repeated, before putting it together. "Hey... you were trying to come up with a good codename, right? So how about it? Danger Duck?"
"Yeah. If anythin' it's better than what Zadavia used to call ya." Ace said.
"Fine..." Duck said as he thought about it. "Danger Duck... I can live with that."
"Good, cuz we like it too," Ace replied.
Already his first day in a new realm, and Chase helped save the day AND helped give a hero a proper codename. Not bad. But there was a lot more in store for him in Acmetropolis, including more instances where being a Hero was his calling from the start...
